I love the fact that shippers of Sessrin can’t make a ship compilation like people do with their ships on Youtube. Example like “10 minutes of dork 1# and dork 2# being an old married couple” because Sessrin doesn’t have any shipping moments and if they were to use “moments” that would include child Rin proving that Sessrin really is a pedophile/grooming pair.

Children and teenagers develop crushes on authority figures all the time. Teachers are commonly on the receiving end of misplaced and confused affections. Does this mean teachers should just accept their students' advances? Why wouldn't students want to be with teachers? Why would teachers have any reason to turn students down?

Anybody who has worked in a position of some authority over children/teenagers/young adults can and should be familiar with power imbalances that make romantic or sexual relationships deeply unsettling and uncomfortable. Differences in life stages, experiences, and social roles are usually enough to make those in your care unappealing as partners in any way.

On that thought, why would Sesshōmaru want to be with Rin? He likely thinks of humans as insignificant and bothersome, has raised her as a guardian would a child, and furthermore, Rin is just some poor orphan who has nothing in common with him, is mindlessly obedient, and lacks personality traits or experience that would enable them to develop as a couple and as individuals. She’s always been a dependent rather than somebody who can contribute in any meaningful way to a relationship between two adults. She is not an equal. Never has been, never will be.

That SessRinners cannot—or will not—understand this is yet another example of the moral and ethical rot we've come to expect from them.

Weirdest argument to date is “why wouldnt Rin want to be with him” while ignoring Sesshomaru’s perspective. Even if Rin wanted to be with him, its his job as the adult to turn her down, reject her advances.

I’m not just Anti-SessRin, I’m Never-SessRin. It’s never been about her age. It’s the power dynamics that inform the very foundations of their relationship. Most of Inuyasha's fandom is weird, they ship Kagura, a baby trapped in the body of a week-old girl who never had a childhood, with a hundreds-year-old yokai who never cared about her and would leave her drowning in the river. They ship Kagome, an underage girl, with hundreds of years old yokai who put her through traumatic situations and threatened her life.

I prefer Sesskoga: both are adults who are close in age and with good chemistry. I find shippers Sesskagu and Sesskago so creepy and weird: They ship a one week old baby and a 14 year old to a 400 year old man.

Sessrin aren't that bad because they at least ship the adult version of Rin with Sesshomaru.

I personally don’t buy that Rin is “18”. I don’t think she was originally intended to be 18. Sunrise knew it looked bad because she looks 12 and that’s probably how old she was so they retconned her to be 18. Even tho she looks nothing like an 18 year old and in the original series she doesn’t look like kohaku’s age. I’d say that retcon was a mockery of the audience intelligence but also I’m glad cuz I was getting disturbed that sesshoumaru had relations with a 12-15 year old

I don't get why everyone is pissed at a certain translator right now just for being vague about the definition of a word (maybe she just didn't want to get squashed by hardcore fans?). - I have never said all translators from Spain were bad. I said Spain was responsible for some of the bad translators.

- I have never insulted Ayuuria. I said her translations were usually fine.

- I said hogosha means parent because that's what Japanese dictionaries say and that's how it is used in schools and in daily life. Hogosha is used in place of mother or father because not all children are cared for by their biological parents. In the words of my coworker, "the reason we use hogosha is to respect students who don't have parents."

- I have never tried to argue that the word hogosha makes SessRin any less canon in Yashahime. Takahashi and Narita were giving their opinions of how they viewed the characters' relationship, but neither is a writer on Yashahime. I am not trying to deny Yashahime canon.

I don't know why this is all going on when I pretty much stick to my own little corner of the fandom and don't go out of my way to start fights with people, but oh well. As always, I just want people to argue with the most accurate information.
