amplifying can also be an interesting road to eventual “full” mind control

starts out weaker but maybe the subject’s will is worn down over time or
the thing doing the mind control control is slowly amplifying different emotions in order to slowly twist them into something else
everyday the subject gets farther away from who they are
I dunno I feel like it makes it whumpier
because it doesn’t FEEL like mind control. it might be imperceptible until the subject is too deep to effectively fight it
and in the end? this is still the “amplifying” category
so all the horrible things they might’ve done/will do are all born from their own emotions
it originated in them. deep down they are - to some capacity - a WILLING subject. at least it feels that way
idk
a mix of my interest in effects of manipulation and the magical exacerbation thereof in order to really bring out those emotions

First try of the leg 🦵 I take my hat off to @oneill.con for his incredible acting on this show - this leg was not the easiest prop to manoeuvre and he just did so incredibly well. Creds to Nick Weir our most excellent props master & Jake Walls for the prop making collab, our whole team on this was so fab 🏴☠️ #ourflagmeansdeath #ofmd

like i get that people are all he's sexy here
but all i can see is how much of a fucking struggle this is
like. do you have to have someone suffer this much just for 'authenticity' or whatever
like this is a real person we're seeing struggling. not just someone acting
i know con talks with positive feelings mostly about doing all this for izzy in season 2
but like what else are you gonna say as an actor who wants to be cast in future roles
i'm reminded of roger allam and philip quast both having the exact same knee injury; even now decades later
just because both of them played javert for a long time and acting out his suicide damaged both their knees in exactly the same way
like sorry but to me stuff like this is fucked up
and it shouldn't be seen as 'cool' or 'good acting' to put actors through this
and yes some of them want to do this but there's also a whole culture that celebrates stuff like this
