While I’m at it, here is the “Have You Seen My flying Bison?” poster I made for the ATLA Book 2 episode, “Lake Laogai,” with calligraphy by S.L. Lee, PhD, slightly-less way back in May of 2006. Aang looks like an egg with Aang’s face drawn on it.

This little moment of Appa giving Aang a gentle nude with his nose is actually pretty meaningful to me? Because it’s not just an animal trying to comfort his owner/friend….it’s kind of a moment of the two of them giving each other mutual comfort. 

Because Appa is the only one present who actually was there to witness what Aang went through, and the only other person in the world who is really able to somewhat understand it. 

aang deserves to be happy

can we take just a moment to appreciate this blink and you’ll miss it bit from the painted lady? aang, still under the impression appa is sick, making sure he’s close by even in his sleep to care for his oldest best friend.

so of course, as soon as he’s awaken by “the painted lady”, his first immediately chases her around to ask for her aid to heal appa.

A gift for my friend's birthday I did last month. Why are my best drawings ones I do with a deadline... I should try it more often.

Zuko caring about Appa is so important to me. Imagine Aang seeing Zuko giving Appa hugs and cuddles, and Aang just like “wow this is the most beautiful thing I ever seen”.

Zuko cares for the bison, tolerates his big sloppy licks, still cuddles him anyways, and it’s so so important to Aang…

People say that when Appa licked Zuko in the Western Air Temple episode, that was what sealed the deal for Aang accepting Zuko into the group, and I honestly believe it.

Aang DOES NOT PLAY when it comes to his Bison.

We should talk more about how visually stunning atla is

I knew some spoilers before I watched ATLA because let's be real, there's a low chance of someone not being spoiled by now.

However, I didn't know the particular details of how some things happen, and this is something like how I thought Zuko releasing Appa would go. It's gonna be part of a series where I tackle all moments like this I have, and that includes Azula finding Katara in Ba Sing Se.
