______________
You sat at your desktop and sighed. The clock in the corner of the screen read 2:38 AM. You could feel your eyes throb, the blue light from the screen was going to cause them to be bloodshot tomorrow you just knew it. You should probably call it a day but the Gauntlet of Shar was kicking your ass and you felt beyond dejected. Saving your progress you quit the game. You stare at the screen which had the Baldur’s Gate III loading screen, the green “play” button tempting you despite just logging off. Shutting down the computer you went through your night routine. Shower, brush teeth, pet the cat. You slid into your bed and sighed. Life felt so mundane, you wished you could adventure. Maybe that’s why the game was so appealing to you. You were already thinking about playing tomorrow after a grueling day of work. You set your alarm and slowly let yourself relax before going limp into a deep sleep.
____________
You could feel the migraine in your head before you even opened your eyes. You groaned before you realized you could also smell grass and feel a slight breeze on your brow. Suddenly a swift kick was planted into your side. Your eyes squeezed shut as you curled into yourself, holding your right side and coughing.
“What the fuck!” You yelled.
Coughing some more before you felt cold metal against your throat. You finally opened your eyes to see six people standing around you. People is a lose term as some had horns, tails, scales, etc.
“Give me one reason I shouldn’t slit your throat where you lay istik.” Said the green woman in dazzling armor.
You couldn’t speak. Your heart was beating so fast it felt like it stopped. This was a dream. A fucked up dream. You really gotta lay off the Baldur’s Gate III because this is ridiculous.
You knew everyone looking at you but they did not know you. The blade pressed further into your throat and you let out a whimper. You did the only thing you could think of. You slowly put your hands up next to you head, palms open to show you meant no harm. Lae’zel let up ever so slightly but kept her eyes fixed on you.
“She asked you a question.” Said Karlach as she crossed her arms over her chest, looking at you with curiosity but also caution.
“Y/n…. My name is y/n.” You squeaked out, feeling the blade start to dig into your neck.
“And how is it that you managed to stumble upon our camp?” Asked Astarion with an unimpressed tone.
“I - I didn’t… I wasn’t looking for you I swear…. I just woke up here and I don't remember anything else.” Is sputtered out quickly, praying they believed you.
You felt a sharp sting and a… wriggle? Behind your eye, Shadowheart forced herself into your mind. Just as quickly as she had entered, the pain stopped.
“She’s telling the truth.” She said.
“Are you friend or foe? Speak now so I may offer you a clean death istik.” Lae’zel spat.
“Friend! Definitely a friend! I don’t want any trouble I promise!” Your voice shook and you could feel tears brimming in your eyes as you felt the blade draw blood.
Karlach gave a “tsk” before pushing past Astarion and Wyll. She stretched out a hand to you. You glanced at her, then back to Lae’zel.
Karlach looked to Lae’zel before speaking, “They look like a scared puppy you can’t possibly think they’re a threat Lae’zel.”
Lae’zel let out a huff before withdrawing her sword, your hand immediately flying to your throat only for it to be coated in blood. You looked at Karlach and quickly took her hand, scrambling to stand up before hunching over when you felt the shooting pain in your side.
“Ahhhh fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck” you whispered to yourself.
“Any sign of aggression and I will not hesitate to smite you.” Lae’zel said before walking back to her tent.
You finally straightened out. Looking at Karlach you spoke, “Thank you.” You gave her a smile, or what you could manage as a smile in the moment.
She looked you over before smiling brightly at you, “No worries soldier! I’m Karlach, pleasure to meet you.” She said while vigorously shaking your hand.
“Y/n.” You said softly while looking around. “I’m sorry, do any of you have a mirror?”
“Not even with us for more than five minutes and you’re already preening for a mirror. Petty vanity will get the best of you darling. Besides, not much to admire if you ask me.” Astarion said with a sassy yet disinterested tone.
You scoffed. Karlach pulled out her sword, you went to take a step back, ready to book it, before she held it horizontally in her hands. She looked at you before glancing at the sword. You stepped closer.
“You’ve gotta be shitting me…” you said, feeling your face and hair. The reflection looking back at you was your Tav from Baldur’s Gate III. You pinched and pulled at yourself not believing what you were seeing.
“Something wrong?” Asked Shadowheart whom you made eye contact with in the reflection.
“I - I ummm… I’m um….. I’m not myself…” was all you could manage. Karlach sheathed her sword and you turned to finally face everyone. “Come find me when you want your bedroll y/n, I should have an extra one somewhere…” Karlach said before walking to the bonfire.
Shadowheart looked you up and down before shrugging “Lady Shar’s blessings upon you stranger. Please join us, you must be in want of a meal.” she gave a soft smile before going back to her tent.
Gale and Wyll introduced themselves. Gale healing the cut on your throat after mumbling a quick apology about Lae’zel stating she was the definition of overprotective and outrageously homicidal. Everyone had seemingly returned to their tents or the bonfire in the middle of camp.
You sat back down in the clearing you woke up in. This was not real. No damn way. Maybe you’ve had a severe psychotic break. Maybe you have a brain eating parasite (literally). Maybe you ate a cordycep and this was the end for you. Literally anything else would make more sense than “Oh my ass got Jumanji'd”. You stared off into space, trying to keep your shaky breathing consistent. You felt the air chill around you as the sun fell behind the horizon and Shar’s embrace consumed the night.
“You know it’s rude to stare.” said Astarion without looking up from you from his tent, the closest to your clearing and the direction you just so happened to be honing in on.
You slowly shifted your eyes down, resting your head against your forearms as they rested on your knees. You just wanted to curl into a ball and disappear. “Sorry.” was all you could whisper.
“Ugh gods, Karlach was right, you look like a scared puppy. Honestly, I don’t know how you’ve survived this long if you’re so…. fragile.” he continued his tone laced with a tinge of venom.
Your eyes started to water. You stood up, your joints yelling at you as they snapped and popped. You walked into camp, trying to make yourself as quiet and invisible as possible, walking swiftly to Karlach’s tent. You took your bedroll silently and found a spot in a clearing under a tree opposite to the clearing you woke up in. Leaning your head against the trunk you closed your eyes, crying silently until you fell asleep.
_________________
Astarion gazed at you from his tent for a large chunk of the night. Everyone else was fast asleep and he had just returned from a hunt. He could hear your heartbeat: soft, steady, calm. He heard your heartbeat when you arrived in the clearing, he’s the one who called the others to investigate with him. He was surprised you were so still when he found you. Your heart was beating hard, fast, endlessly. Terrified. He hadn’t heard a heart beat like that in a while. It was how all his victims' hearts sounded after he gave them to Cazador. He pushed the thought out of his mind, which wasn't hard as it was overtaken by another, more overwhelming thought. Why had he only heard your heartbeat and felt the immediate urge to find you and protect you? He felt something stir inside his chest when he laid eyes on you. That wasn’t allowed. That wasn't his purpose. He didn’t get to feel his own feelings. Everything was consumed by Cazador and the looming threat of him returning to Astarions life. He shuddered. He could smell the faintest scent of your blood that was dried on your hand from earlier. Gods it was sweet, even thinking of it made him salivate. His best option was to avoid you enough and reject you enough that the feeling inside him would cease. It was easy. You were already distressed. How much more could you fall emotionally? And yet, as he watched the gentle rise and fall of your chest he couldn’t help but think of anything else beyond how soft you looked. How peaceful. Your face relaxed, your jaw unclenched, your eyes puffy, fly aways clinging to your face, eyelashes still wet, short breaths being exhaled from your mouth. You were… cute.
Shit.
____________________
You awoke just as the sun started to rise. The sky is a beautiful mixture of blues, pinks, and purples. You sat up as if it would get you a better view of the heavens. Astarion walked up behind you quietly. “You’re up early.” he stated. You jumped slightly before facing the sky again. “Early riser.” you said back. Astarion hummed back before walking down the hill of your clearing. You followed him swiftly, not wanting to be completely alone in a camp full of sleepers. Astarion bent down softly into the small stream, gathering the water in his hands and gently rubbing it into his face. You sat silently next to him, gently letting your fingers dip into the rushing stream.
“What is that?” Astarion asked, glancing at your boot. You looked at him confused. He leaned over and pulled out the object.
There, in all its glory, your phone. You quickly snatched it from Astarion, his voice fading into the background. You turned your phone on, it had no service but it still worked and that was a great comfort. Suddenly it was ripped from your grasp.
Astarion stood up, holding the phone up and away from you. “What is this? Must be important.” He teased with a sneer. “Is it powerful?”
You stood quickly, putting your hand out “Please give it back its mine.”
“Oh I don’t doubt that it is yours. You need to answer my question though before I’ll consider giving it back.”
“I… I don’t know how to explain it… they don’t have these devices in your world…” you trailed off.
Astarion rose an eyebrow at you, “My world? So you’re from another world? Now I know you’re lying.”
“Wait! Maybe… maybe I can show you something with it.” You said in a small voice, reaching your hand out once again. “Something you’ve wanted for a long time…”
He eyed you up and down repeatedly before tossing your phone at you, “This better be worth it.”
You opened your phone's front-facing camera and stood next to Astarion, gently turning the phone in his direction. You saw his face drop then he just… stared. You started to bring the phone back down before his hand caught your wrist. His hold was gentle and cold, “Just a moment.” he whispered.
You nodded and let him hold the phone. He gazed at his eyes for ages before opening his mouth. He licked over his fangs, gently tracing his lips with his fingertips. “What is this thing? Why can I see myself?” He spat at you, suddenly angry. He tossed the phone at your feet before storming off to camp, leaving you alone at the stream. ____________________
The sun was now high in the sky and you had enough of sulking by the stream. If you were going to be stuck here for a while, better start working on making some friends. You walked back to camp before seeking out Gale.
“Morning! Is there something I can help with, you have an inquisitive look on your face.” he smiled at you.
You gave a small smile before asking, “I was hoping you could help me… enchant something? It needs power to survive, usually electric power but I don’t think that will work right now… can you try?”
Gale looked away as if thinking about what he could do; he snapped his fingers, “Ah! Yes, I think I might have something for that, Mystra willing and all. Can I see what you are talking about?”
You nodded quickly, shoving the phone into Gale’s hands.
“This little thing?” he glanced back at you. You nodded and gave a pleading look.
He nodded and sent you a soft smile before speaking strange words over it. Colorful beams of misty light enveloped your device, now floating in between Gale’s hands. He finished his incantation, all the beams shooting into your phone before he caught it as the spell seemingly ended. He smiled brightly and handed it back to you before crossing his arms over his chest. “Well… did it work?” he asked you, unsure how the device worked he was iffy about his magic in this instance.
You turned your phone back on, full battery that seemed unchanging for now. You smiled back at Gale “Yes! Thank you so much…. I appreciate you and your kindness towards me as a stranger.”
“With pleasure friend, bring it back should it start to falter, I’d be more than happy to fix it.” he said.
You smiled at him one final time before walking towards Karlach who was currently accompanied by Shadowheart and Lae’zel. Slipping your phone back into your boot, you quietly walked up to them. Their conversation died down once they saw you walking over. Lae’zel shot daggers at you, her gaze alone felt violent. Shadowheart and Karlach sent you small smiles.
“If you are going to travel with us we need to know your strengths. How are you useful to us and our endeavors?” Lae’zel questioned “You’re obviously no warrior, so what are you?” she gritted out.
“I’m a cleric… I practice under Ilmater… though I haven’t seen a battle before.” You spoke, picking at your nails instead of focusing on the women in front of you.
Lae’zel spat on the ground, “Not only have we taken in another mouth to feed, we have taken in a useless cleric with no combat experience. We may well have taken in a child.” she went back to her tent, wildly slashing at the poor practice dummy as if to further demonstrate her displeasure.
You winced watching, imagining every blow aimed at you. Shadowheart put her hand on your shoulder. “Perhaps we should go see Gale. He’s a follower of Mystra and I of Shar, I’m sure we can teach you a few things. Do you know much about Ilmater?” she asked, leading you by the back of your arm towards Gale. You shook your head no. “Well, my knowledge is limited, but if I recall correctly he is the protector of the persecuted and oppressed. There are worse gods to be in service to.” she chuckled. You smiled and gave her hand a squeeze as a soft ‘thank you’ for her simple kindness.
“I overheard, let's get to work shall we?” Gale asked you both before conjuring the weave, creating a safe, fragmented reality to practice in without causing any real damage.

-------------------
Magic was tougher than it looked. It felt like the most grueling full body workout. “Well, you’ve got enough to get you through a very short… heavily aided battle.” Shadowheart said, it sounded like the best backhanded compliment.
“Can we be done for the day?” You asked, cracking your neck and stretching your back. “Please?”
Gale smiled and waved you off, “Just for today, we’ll need you in battle soon enough. Best you have a few tricks up your sleeve to survive… A word of advice, seek out Lae’zel, have her show you combat training. The Githyanke are -”
“Excellent warriors, I know.” you stated without thinking.
Gale’s face faltered for a moment before relaxing “Precisely, she’s the best to learn from.” he clapped his hand on your shoulder before walking back to his tent.
Shadowheart was walking back to her tent but gave you a smile and mouthed “good luck” towards you.
You took a deep breath and walked to Lae’zel’s tent. Feet practically made of lead the way the anxiety made them drag. You stopped in front of her not looking up.
“Speak” was all she said.
“I’d like to spar with you… have you teach me how to fight… so I’m not just a useless cleric.” Your lip twitched up at the end of your sentence. Finally raising your gaze, Lae’zel looked at you and crossed her arms.
“Fine. I suppose you can use this.” She said handing you what you recognized as “The Cruel Sting” sword from the drider, Kar’niss.
You clutched the sword and followed Lae’zel to the center of the camp where she unceremoniously body checked you, knocking you onto your back with a groan.
“The Hell was that for?!” you yelled at her.
“Your enemy will not fight fair, you need to know brutality if you wish to fight.” she said as she unsheathed her sword.
You stood and held your sword. Nothing had ever felt more out of place. This wasn't a Renaissance Festival, this was real and you had to learn this to survive. You took a deep breath, closing your eyes and praying a collective prayer to any deity listening. You opened your eyes, the first strike of many clanged against your sword.
Shit.
________________________
Metal collides well past sundown. Lae’zel had run you ragged. You were currently trying to shove her back. She put her foot behind yours and shoved, sending you crashing onto your back.
“Have you learned nothing?!” she yelled so loudly everyone else in the camp was watching now. “Your enemy will not hesitate to kill you. You shall offer them no such mercy either!” she continued to yell.
That's it. That’s what broke the camel's back. Rage consumes you after being beaten down for hours. Your hand reached slowly for the small blade tucked into your breast pocket. Lae’zel put her sword to your neck to demand your surrender. You raised your hands. Lae’zel began putting her sword away and that's when you struck. You kicked her closest ankle and sent her falling. Dagger in your hand, you rolled on top of Lae’zel, straddling her hips and pressing the blade to her throat. She gawked at you, she was speechless.
“Never assume the war is over because the battle was lost.” you said with hate in your voice but a proud smile on your face.
Lae’zel gave the faintest smirk before taping the handle of the blade, signifying she surrendered. Both of you got up slowly. Lae’zel extended her arm. You stared at it in disbelief but your arm went to hers. Holding each other's forearms she shook it once firmly before saying, “Cleric, you may survive us yet.” she let go of your arm, walking to the bonfire as the meat roasting smelled as if it was almost done.
Karlach walked over to you, “That’s as close as you’ll ever get to her saying you’re friends now.” she laughed. “You’ve improved a lot in one day. It’s going to be nice having you around soldier.” she patted your back before she herself walked to the campfire.
You smiled watching her walk away. Glancing at Gale and Wyll they both gave you smiles, Gale giving a soft clap and Wyll a thumbs up. You walked back to your new tent that Karlach had set up for you while you were in the weave. It wrapped around the tree you slept on last night. A bedroll, some candles, and a small table with a lamp softly flickering. The flamed danced shadows across your tent, you laid on your bedroll momentarily, watching the shadows. Quickly, before you got too comfortable, you stood and began your walk to the stream. Your body ached but in a satisfactory way. Maybe you could be an adventurer. At least until you got back home. You shed your camp clothes at the shore, looking back and making sure everyone was at camp. You could hear them eating and telling stories around the fire. You waded into the stream until it reached your ribs. You sat against a boulder in the stream. The water rushing around you felt calming, as if the water was trying to massage the ache out of you. You brushed water over your face and hair before leaning your head back and closing your eyes. Trying to connect to the earth around you, searching for a blissful escape in the elements even if only for a moment.
---------------------
Astarion watched you from behind a tree near the shore and his tent. He didn’t mean to spy on you. He honestly thought he saw a fae or siren wade into the water, your body enchanting him. He watched you wade to the boulder finding some sort of solace in it. You leaned there unmoving for what felt like hours.
Sad
That's what rang out in Astarion’s mind. The tadpole saying what your mind must have been screaming. He felt that unfamiliar pang in his chest again. He wanted to… comfort you? He didn’t even know what that would look like. Was it like seduction just… less? He both wanted to know and despised the thought of knowing.
Without realizing it, he had drifted off and he refocused on your form trudging back to the shore. He knew what he had to do to get rid of the pang in his chest. Crush it. Crush you. The very thought hurt him somehow but he knew it had to be done. He walked out from behind the tree heading towards the shore. Your back was facing him, your shirt and underwear on but nothing else. He adored the way the moonlight made your shirt cast a shadow of your body. He noticed every curve, dimple, freckle… he noticed them all.
---------------------
“Oh! Astarion…” you jumped when you heard the rocks behind you shift. Your hands flew all over your body trying to cover up but not sure what exactly to cover. He grabbed your hip when you started to move backwards. You glanced at his hand before looking at his face, your eyebrows scrunched together. Astarion hadn’t exactly been the most welcoming in the camp so what was this? Hand still on your hip he possessively pulled you to his chest, his opposite hand tilting your chin up so your lips were a breath away from each other. Your whole body felt like cement and lava at the same time. Your eyes watched his every move.
“A bath with no invite? Darling, you wound me.” he whispered onto your lips. You sucked in an unintentionally sharp breath when he leaned forwards and smashed his lips to yours. He was rough despite his gentle grasp on your chin. He continued to kiss you, nipping at your lower lip.
“Ouch!” you yipped, pushing his chest away.
“Come now darling you cannot be so delicate…” he said seductively.
You backed up and held your arm out in front of you to put a physical barrier between you. “Astarion, stop.” You said as your finger smoothed over the nip on your lip that had drawn the smallest bit of blood.
Now it was his turn to freeze, “What? Why? Is something wrong?” He asked. He almost sounded… annoyed? Instead of concern which you would expect from a lover.
You knew enough about Astarion from your progress in Baldur's Gate III that he was trying to manipulate you by sleeping with you. It saddened you. He might not like you much in reality but you would still protect him like everyone else in your party. Your face gave a painful squeeze before you swallowed it all down. You put your arm down, picking up your pants, boots, and vest. “Astarion… you don’t truly want this. I’ll umm… I’ll see you at camp.” You whispered out.
-----------------------
The world seemed to be so still and quiet down by the stream. Astarion heard every syllable. He watched you leave quickly and did he detect… a quiver in your voice? Why would you be upset about him trying to fuck you? Why did you say “you don’t truly want this”? He didn’t want it, but how did you know that? He walked back to his tent glumly. After seeing you take down Lae’zel he thought you might not be so bad to have under his thumb. Why would you reject him? He saw himself for the first time in 200 years that morning so he knew for a fact he was still beautiful, fangs and all. He wracked his brain but couldn’t come up with an answer to why his plan didn’t work on you. It works on everyone else.
A bitter seed was planted inside him. He watched your form move around camp for the rest of the night. Eyes never meeting his. He watched you talk with the others. Sing with Wyll. attempt to dance with Karlach. Everyone wore soft smiles, even Lae’zel which was rare. A warmth was spread around the camp. As if the air was made of warm honey. Suffocating you in the best way possible. Rested and comfortable is what it was.
He wanted so desperately to be a part of it. And yet, that bitter seed took root and every thought of you suddenly felt like rot and decay. Finding the bad and none of the good. Making you the cause of such ire. He wanted to be rid of you. He thought of the item you had, the “mirror” he used. Had you told the others about that? What would they think of it? He could twist it to make you look like the villain, he was sure of it.
------------------
“”Y/N darling…”
Your head snapped to Astarion who had silently managed to sit across from you at the bonfire. Your head swirled a bit, whatever Karlach was drinking had some twang to it that's for sure. You were drunk and the warm glow of the fire made you feel like a cat in a sunbeam.
“Astarion darling…” you giggled back.
“Have you told our dear friends about your powerful little tool?” he batted his eyelashes at you but a devious smirk laid across his lips.
Everyone's eyes slowly drifted to you and lord did you feel them on you.
“I… I showed Gale.” you rushed out. You weren’t hiding it. Not truly. You just didn’t know how to tell them what a phone was without having to tell them about your… well… life? And how to you, they were a mere video game. That they didn’t actually exist. That's a little tough to deliver. Especially while drunk.
“Yes! She had me repower it.” Gale chimed in.
“Oh it needs magic to power itself? Sounds dangerous if you ask me…”
Now everyone's eyes were not only looking at you but focused on you, scanning you over for any potential danger. You slowly reached into your bedroll. Your phone lit up and everyone kept a strong hold on their weapons.
“I… it is a power source… but it only powers itself. It’s not dangerous I swear…. It’s used to communicate where I’m from.” you quickly defended yourself.
“And where is that exactly?” Astarion hummed.
Your skin was crawling, you felt how unsteady your stomach was, a cold sweat coating your back, your hands shaking, and dear god you were fighting the urge to spill tears. All out of sheer anxiety. You didn’t want to lie, but you didn’t know how to tell the truth either.
“I… I’m… not from here. Or Baldur’s Gate. Or Faerûn. I’m… I’m from somewhere far away. I’m not sure how to explain it.” you choked out. The tears slipped out but you quickly wiped them away and looked at your new friends, hoping they’d believe you but not push for more answers either.
“How mysterious.” Astarion jested. “Care to show up what it does so we know it isn’t dangerous?”
You looked down at the phone before looking at everyone around you. You had no idea if this would have some sort of butterfly effect or alter reality but you didn’t really care. These people were your best hope, you needed them and were in no position to test their patience. You looked down, defeated. You agreed, turning the phone on you opened the camera app.
“I can use it to see people… and take portraits of them instantly.” you softly explained before taking a picture of yourself and then showing them all the picture. They looked impressed, borderline shocked.
“Anything else?” Astarion asked, sounding unamused.
You opened your music app and clicked on classical music, thinking that would be somewhat close to the music they know. Playing strauss II - voices of spring you turned the volume up and watched them become entranced. Karlach started swaying and humming with the melody. Everyone’s tense appearance faded and they all seemed pleased with the music.
“Portrait machine and a music box, how delightful!” Gale spoke before drinking more wine.
“If you all don’t mind I will retire early this evening.” you spoke softly as you got up and walked away leaving your phone as it began the classical music playlist you had saved for when you would study. Some of the group gave you nods, some were too deep in drink or conversation to notice. But Astarion did.
He saw how tightly you clasped your hands as you walked away. How your eyes were so big and full of fright. How your heartbeat sounded. Terrified.
Shit.
---------------------
He watched you from his tent as you threw rocks from the river bank into the riverbed. He could still hear your heartbeat. How strained it sounded. Like it was fighting itself. He felt wretched. He was doing what he needed to. Right? Then why did it hurt so damn bad? Why did the way the tears skimmed down your face feel like a wound to his heart? Why did he want nothing more than to go to you and whisper sweet apologies. He hates you. He has to because it is the only control he can feel at this moment. So why does the final sob he hears escaping you on the shore bring him right back to where he doesn’t want to be. He digs in his supply pack before pulling out the vile of angelic slumber. If he couldn’t meditate this away he was not above drugging himself to sleep for the night. Anything to not feel what he felt when it came to you.

“Are you sure? No shame in staying behind.” Shadowheart said as she adjusted the last strap on the dark justicar armor she lent you. She looked concerned and wary.
“I’m sure, like you said, we are just going to a cemetery to talk to Raphael then come back. Sounds easy enough.” You shrugged. No wonder everyone’s movement in the game was limited, armor is heavy as shit.
Shadowheart paused, “How did you know it’s Raphael? I only said we had a devil to see…” she trailed off.
“Oh, umm…. With what you’ve told me this sounds like a Raphael thing… he has a certain flare for the dramatics that’s hard to miss.” You deflected trying so hard to sound casual.
Shadowheart hummed but you could tell she was… suspicious. Before you could spiral into an anxious heap, Astarion walked swiftly between the two of you. Hitting your shoulder unnecessarily he said “Are we going to stand around all day coddling them or shall we go?”
He always looked so pissed to be in your general vicinity and you noticed it more and more since the night you showed the group your phone. It had been a week since then, you worked with everyone to build your skills up. Everyone was pretty comfortable around you as of late, Karlach even going as far as to say she trusts you. So why was he the exception? You hadn’t done anything negative towards him? Was he upset about his reflection? Maybe you shouldn’t have sprung that on him? Whatever it was, it was making you both anxious and annoyed.
Truth be told, you were still kinda new to playing Baldur's Gate III in your world. The last save you remember was finishing the last trial in The Gauntlet of Shar. You just hope your limited knowledge might be useful somehow. You have to be mindful however. Little slips like the one with Shadowheart, showcasing that you knew more than you let on, could cause unexpected consequences. You had a few similar slip ups throughout the week but were thankfully able to brush them off. And you still had no idea how to tell them about you, the real you. You decided to keep it hidden for now, and when somebody inevitably asks you’ll tell them all.
——————————
You stepped through the portal with Astarion, Karlach, and Shadowheart. It left your body tingling for a moment. You looked around and vaguely recognized where you were. It’s definitely the Shadow Cursed Lands. The building in front of you looked abandoned but everything in the lands looked abandoned. You started walking forwards to the door of the building. You don’t remember anything bad here from your gameplay. The doors opened and you saw the first person outside of your little jolly group of misfits. She looked like a nurse and didn’t appear to be hostile. The others walked behind you as you slowly walked towards her. She was dipping a sponge into a basin of bloody water and cleaning the leg of a corpse. There were two of them actually. Both dead on separate beds, arms outstretched towards each other.
“The doctor is quite busy today… you may wait in line to be seen.” The nurse said.
“Why are you cleaning corpses, surely there must be something better to do.” Astarion said, typical sass in his voice but also confusion.
“Corpse? They’re merely sleeping…” she said softly, continuing to clean.
“Mmmmm no, those are definitely dead.” He responded, tapping the lid of a nearby jar.
The nurse turned to look at Astarion. “Perhaps I should turn my services elsewhere?” She said dropping the sponge back into the bowl. She pulled out a bone saw and started walking towards him. His eyes widened.
“Sister, look…” you said, pointing towards the bodies. Her head instantly snapped away from Astarion.
“Oh sister they’ve been so well tended to. They sleep like angels. They must be so grateful.” You said, eyeing Astarion as if trying to tell him to back up and shut up.
She dropped the bone saw, grabbing your hands. They were cold and shaking. “Truly? These hands… the doctor must be notified of all patient improvements.” She said starting to walk towards the center of the house where a heavy closed door laid.
“Wait!” You said quickly.
She looked at you, head cocked to the side.
“Your patients will wake soon. Who is lovelier to wake up to than their doting nurse? You stay, I’ll notify the doctor.” You smiled at her.
She shook her head vigorously, “Right, they need me. The doctor is in surgery right now… wait for him there.” She pointed at the large door before grabbing the sponge from the bowl. “Take these will you?” She asked, dropping two rings in your hands. Shadowblade rings. They were Arabella’s parents.
You pocketed them quickly and thanked the sister before silently backing up and walking away.
“Is that your talent? Comforting deranged nurses?” Astarion jabbed.
You elected to ignore him, not feeding into his negativity.
You walked into the operating theater. The doctor had just removed a man’s eyes, the sisters cutting him randomly and harshly. Your eyes widened and you fought the urge to throw up. Seeing this in a game and in real life we’re vastly different and this was insanely more disturbing.
Your foot hit some debris on the floor, notifying everyone of your existence.
“Are you here to aid in surgery? I asked for an attending hours ago…” said the doctor, flinging the man’s eyes off into a corner of the room.
“Yes… of course doctor my apologies.” You detach yourself from your group. The man on the operating table whimpered and whined. His throat was all raw from the endless screaming you imagined. You walked closer to the man. The doctor handed you one of the nurses knives.
You took it gently, the man continued to struggle against his confines. You looked at your companions, they looked at you with just as much anxiety as you felt.
“Be ready” you mouthed to Karlach. She nodded, your companions slowly moving into different locations.
You looked to the doctor who was holding a bone saw. You weren’t exactly in the *best* spot for a battle to start. Let alone your first battle. Let’s just hope somebody likes you enough to give Withers a little gold if the worst happens.
You swiftly plunged the knife into the doctors throat, shoving the nurse next to you as you grabbed your sword. Lae’zel gave you The Cruel Sting for your first time outside of camp, bless her angry ass. You swung at the nurse on the opposite side of you, the sword ensnared her. The nurses spread out, your companions taking them on. The doctor turned his focus to you. “Petulant child…” he said before knocking you on your back, he held his bone saw under your chin. “Don’t fret, I’ll be sure to cure you of your…. Affliction.” He laughed while tapping his head.
You held your arm up just in time for the bone saw to clatter against your armor. Karlach shot her bow at him as soon as she saw you on the ground. The air stunk of drow poison and that seemed to be enough to turn the doctors attention. You scurried off the ground, driving your sword through him as he faced away from you. Karlach hit him with a reckless attack and the doctor dropped to the ground, finally dead. The hall was quiet except for everyone’s heavy breaths.
You smiled at Karlach, impressed with yourself. The smile quickly faltered as you looked down and saw one of the nurses blades in between the metal plates of your armor. Karlach immediately turned and struck down the dying nurse. Shadowheart turned you quickly and pulled the knife out. You screamed, the sound bouncing off the walls of the theater. She spoke a healing spell over you, but her brow drew up in confusion.
“It’s not working.” She whispered.
“The fuck do you mean it’s not working? Fix it!” You yelled. You could feel the blood seeping through the different parts of your armor. Down your stomach, over your thighs…
“I’m trying!” She yelled back, rattling off another spell.
Karlach popped open a potion of healing, she grabbed your face and tilted your head back forcing the bottle to your lips. It tasted like wine; you could feel it envelop your body. As if it were coursing through you seeking out pain. You felt it stitch your wound together sloppily. You cried in pain as it felt like fire putting you back together. You lifted your armor, the wound was partially healed but that would have to do until you got back to camp.
Karlach and Shadowheart asked if you were ok, sympathetic as they both know battle is new to you. Battle wounds are common but you never forget your first.
“Your first battle scar! Congrats soldier.” Karlach said, trying to lighten the mood.
You blubbered out a chuckle, readjusting your armor.
“I’m sorry we were here to see Raphael, yes?” Astarion said walking out to the graveyard without the rest of you.
You sighed and began walking, doing your best not to grimace.
———————-
Everyone listened intently to Raphael. He told Astarion everything you already knew. You had zoned out a bit, hand ghosting over your wound every few minutes.
“And you…” Raphael said in a sultry tone, looking you up and down like a meal.
You closed your eyes desperately wanting to disappear. Of course the devil would know you weren’t of their world.
“Different aren’t you?” He said grabbing your hand, a swift prick to one of your fingers had you snatching your hand back. Raphael dipped the nail into his mouth, swirling your blood on his tongue.
“Mmmm, very different. You’re not from here are you? Strange that you ended up with this lot. You’re far more valuable elsewhere. Have you told your new friends about you? What do they really know and what do you hide?” Raphael smiled as he looked at the others.
They all had their eyes on you. Leave it to the devil to make it sound like you were trying to infiltrate their party.
“Stop.” You whispered at him, the tone of your voice begging him.
“No matter. I’ll see you in time, pet.” Raphael gave you a final smile before snapping his fingers and disappearing into a puff of black smoke.
“And you lot thought I was just being mean. If the devil says they can’t be trusted, what more is to be said?” Astarion asked aloud.
You winced again as your wound stung against the armor. Karlach moved towards you. She grabbed your arm gently, looking at the new red spreading through the cloth under your armor.
“We need to get back.” Her voice was devoid of emotion, flat and unwavering.
Everyone silently went through the portal back to camp.
————————
Gale patched up your wound so you could finally walk around comfortably. Happy to have the armor off of you, you walked to the campfire and began prepping dinner. Everyone else had gone to the stream to bathe or had retreated into their respective tents. You could tell that tonight may very well be the night you have to tell them all your secret. Why not soften the blow with some food?
You made them Baldurian mash since it was all you could think of given your limited ingredients. You set up bowls and spoons and different bottles of liquor for everyone. Just in time, you saw them all trudging up the hill in their night clothes. Everyone looked at you with doubt and caution.
Great.
Everyone smelled the food and silently made their way to the bonfire before dishing themselves their food and drinks. Before anyone could get a bite down Astarion yelled.
“Wait!” He jogged over to the fire.
“Are you sure we should be eating the food of someone who Raphael just told us was hiding things that seem to be of great importance?” He eyed the food and then you.
You scoffed thinking he was joking, and yet nobody took a bite.
You looked around, none of your companions meeting your eyes.
“I may have secrets but I don’t mean any of you harm…. You all are the closest thing I have to friends… I’d never hurt any of you.” You said, voice small but strong.
Astarion laughed, “Sounds like something somebody would say who is trying to kill us. Why else would you make all this?”
That’s it, you’ve had enough of fangs and his attitude towards you. You stood and took a large bite of the mash before taking a swig out of every open alcohol bottle.
“Proof enough for ya?” You asked, shoving past him. “I made all this because I wanted to be helpful. I want to be helpful because you all are my friends. I trust all of you even if you don’t trust me. So how about it fangs? Am I ok to stay or do you have anything else you wanna throw at me?”
Astarion could see the anger in your face. “Let’s just hope your culinary skills are better than your battle skills.” He said walking past you, shoving your shoulder with his.
Astarion expected the sniffle he heard from you.
“Astarion?” You asked.
“What?” He tutted, turning to face you.
What he didn’t expect was the punch that landed square in his face.
“Shit!” You immediately recoiled your hand, already feeling the bruising on your knuckles. You shook your hand out before saying your final piece,
“I have secrets it’s true. And I am happy to tell them to you as soon as I figure out how. But I don’t want to hurt any of you…”
“Excuse me?” Astarion said as he held his bleeding nose.
“Zip it! You have been nothing but spiteful towards me since I got here. I don’t know what your damage is with me but we need each other like it or not. We all need each other. I will fight for you all just as you fight for me. Whatever side you’re on, is the side I’m on.” You finished. Everyone looked at you with wide eyes, occasionally glancing at Astarion and his busted face.
Karlach stood and marched herself over to you. If this was the end for you at least it was Karlach taking you out, it’ll be a quick death. She held out her hand and you apprehensively took it.
“Who amongst us doesn’t have a secret or two? I trust them and their intentions after seeing them outside the camp today. Y/N, you have my support and my trust.” Karlach said.
You couldn’t help but tear up and engulf her in a hug. Thank god she had already had her tune up or it would have been a very short, scorching hug. She only faltered for a moment before hugging you back.
“Enough with the doom and gloom Astarion. Please come eat, it smelled heavenly.” Karlach asked, walking back to her bowl and taking a bite. This seemingly put everyone at ease, everyone starting to eat and drink. Everyone sent you soft smiles or nods of approval as if to finally say “welcome, you’re here to stay.”
Astarion picked up his pride and went to hunt. He was so sure he could turn them against you enough to at least abandon you. Why did you have to be so damn sweet and honest with everyone? He knew he deserved that punch but it didn’t make him want you any less.
You grabbed a bottle of Ithbank before heading to your tent for the night.
————————
You awoke hours later. The camp was quiet except for a groan you heard. You sat up, it sounded like it was coming from the stream. Getting up you wore nothing but your large untied shirt and underwear. You crept over to the hillside. You saw Astarion with his shirt off splashing water onto his shoulder. The night was dark but you could see his hand was covered in blood. Punched or not, you wanted to help him. You slunk down the hill, thankful the riverbed rocks were smooth under your feet.
“May I?” You said.
“Gods! Don’t do that!” He winced. “I don’t want your help.”
“But you need it, you stubborn jackass.” You said, grabbing his hand and marching him back to your tent. You sat him on your bedroll before grabbing a cloth and pouring some water from your canteen on it. You gently pressed it to the slash on his shoulder.
“Care to tell me what happened?” You asked.
“No.” He said bluntly.
“Looking to get punched again?” You said, quirking an eyebrow at him. He rolled his eyes as he tried to stifle the hiss he had to let out from the pain.
“We could be friends ya know. If you weren’t out to get me for some unknown reason.” You said with a tinge of sadness to your voice.
“And why would I want to be your friend?” He asked.
“I’m smart, funny, attractive….” You smiled as you listed.
He let out a chuckle, “Might want to add vain to the list.”
“Seriously though, why don’t you like me?” You asked, setting the cloth aside and going for some bandages you had in your camp pack.
“I don’t trust you there’s a difference.” He said, looking at the ground.
“You’re a deeply mistrusting person and I respect that, but everyone deserves a chance. Have I done anything to make you mistrust me?” You finally looked into his crimson eyes. They were beautiful. Shiny like rubies and a deep crimson like blood.
“You punched me in the face.” He said, meeting your gaze.
“You deserved to be punched in the face.” You said, starting to wrap the gauze around his torso and shoulder.
“Perhaps.” He conceded.
You noticed a small cut to his cheekbone. Raising your hand, you ran your thumb under it. You grabbed the cloth you used to clean his wound and brought it to his cheek, dabbing softly at the dried blood. He caught your wrist in a soft grasp. You looked at each other, neither moving. The air around you felt thick. Thankful for the dim light from the bonfire, you were sure you were blushing unintentionally. Astarion softly pressed a delicate kiss to your wrist.
“Thank you for helping me, it was very kind.” He sounded so sincere. You smiled and thumbed over his cheek one last time before pulling your hand back to yourself.
The more you looked at him the more you noticed his sunken eyes, his slim cheeks, the aches that plagued him.
Hungry
You jumped back a little not expecting to hear voices and feel a wriggle in your head. Astarion’s eyes flitted to yours, “You’re hungry aren’t you?” You asked in a whisper.
“I didn’t drink as much as I would have hoped to… the bear apparently didn’t like fangs in it.” He said, gesturing to the bandaged gash.
You pondered it for a moment. On one hand, he had been a massive cunt to you since you arrived and had punched him a few hours ago. On the other hand, he just let you patch him up and even thanked you for it.
“If you want… you could feed off me? If it would help?” You asked, looking between his eyes and the ground, fingers picking at each other nervously.
“You would do that for me?” He asked, genuinely confused.
“See? I’m not so bad after all.” You smiled as you pulled your laces at the top of your shirt loose revealing your neck, shoulder, and the top of your chest.
He gulped and looked at your beautiful skin. He was hungry but he knew he’d have to repay you. He pulled you to him by your waist, planting you in his lap, straddling his hips. You knew what he was doing, what he was thinking.
“Astarion, stop. You don’t have to do anything. You don’t owe me… I’m doing this because I want to help you.” You said, shifting yourself to sit next to him instead of on him.
He gave you a soft smile, “Apologies. I’m used to giving myself as payment. Old habits die hard I suppose.”
You nodded, knowing his history and not wanting to trudge up bad memories. You leaned against the tree trunk next to your bed roll, exposing your neck to him.
Astarion licked his lips subconsciously. His breath against your neck made you shiver. He kissed the junction between your neck and shoulder before sinking his teeth in. It felt like getting an IV needle shoved into your throat. The pain was quick, the feeling of blood being sucked out of you was what felt odd. Warm fluid being sucked out rapidly. He must have been hungry.
After a minute you gently pushed against his chest. He snapped back to reality, pulling back and resting his head against your shoulder while licking up the little blood that spilled from the punctures. His breath was heavy and so were his eyes.
“That was amazing…” he whispered.
You sat up a bit, pushing Astarion back. “Glad my blood is acceptable.” You joked, pulling your shirt back on properly and tightening the laces.
It was beyond acceptable. It was… heavenly. It was beyond anything he had tasted or smelled before. It tasted sweet. Like the richest chocolate. It coated his tongue and he already wished for more. His gaze was glazed over, perfectly happy. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes.
You watched him. He was beautiful, truly. The feeling of arousal that shot through you while he drank made you feel awful. You knew his backstory and you knew he was in no position to do anything sexual. You focused on slowing your heartbeat down in hopes he wouldn’t hear it.
He gently took your hand before kissing your wrist again, “Thank you. This was a gift, I won’t forget it.” He nodded before getting up and heading back to his tent. “Goodnight.” You heard him say faintly.
You smiled as you laid down, happy that you two reached a truce. Maybe he needed a bit more care than the others, and you were happy to provide it. You drifted off to sleep, dreaming of a certain pale elf.

-------------------
A sunbeam perfectly aimed for your face is what woke you. The warmth making you smile before you lazily got up from your bedroll, wincing a bit. You saw everyone seemingly at the bonfire looking like they were ready to head out. Everyone apart from a certain vampire. You jogged over to the campfire from your tent.
“Y/N! Thank the gods you’re awake. We were all going to head out and visit a merchant, care to join us?” Karlach beamed.
You went to answer but you winced, hard. Enough for Karlach and the others to notice. You lifted up your shirt to reveal the wound the nurse left on your lower stomach.
“That’s infected, no wonder you’re in pain.” Gale said, moving to retrieve a salve from his backpack. “Here,” he said, rubbing it into your skin before conjuring gauze to cover it. It felt cool and soothed the hateful heat emitting from the wound. “That’ll take a few hours to clear the infection out and fully heal the wound. You’ll need to stay here and rest for the day. Astarion will stay with you; help keep the camp safe and keep you company.”
“Sure it's a good idea keeping those two together?” Shadowheart asked, alluding to the punching incident.
“We’ll be fine.” you reassured her, giving her shoulder a light squeeze.
“Well we best be off. Want anything from the merchant?” Karlach asked.
“I’d love a book or two if you could find any for cheap.” you asked shyly, “I’ll pay you back when I can.”
Karlach shook her head, “No need, books it is! Rest easy soldier!” she said starting to leave camp.
Gale clapped your shoulder before leaving, “Books, eh? A cleric after my own heart.” he smiled.
And just like that, camp was quiet aside from the occasional bird. You elected to change into a different pair of small clothes. A simple black, flowy long sleeve. Much too large for you but that's what made it so comfy. Slipping on a new pair of under shorts you hauled your dirty clothes and armor to the streamside. You trudged back up the hill to grab your phone. So far it hasn’t needed to be enchanted again, it has yet to fall below 100%. You peered into Astarion’s tent as you walked past it, he was still asleep (meditating?), best to leave him alone.
Returning to the stream with your phone you started to play music. The soft beats of Cooks by Still Woozy bumped along as you softly sang to it, cleaning your clothes and armor.
-------------------------
Astarion watched you walk up and down the hill to the stream twice, acting asleep when you peered into his tent. He snuck down the hill, grabbing two bright red apples before standing a few feet behind you. The music you listened to was strange, nothing like he had heard before. Your world must have been strange. He made his way to you, shifting the rocks as he walked so he wouldn’t startle you. You looked up at him, a smile graced your face that would put the sun to shame. His rare doe eyes made an appearance along with a genuine smirk. Nothing seductive or tricky about it, just unhideable glee. He felt so wrong and yet so right being this happy with another person. Most of all he felt confused, unsure of how to proceed with all these new feelings that accompanied freedom. He pushed the anxiety to the back of his mind, silently holding out one of the apples to you. You gently put your armor down, wiping your wet hands on your shirt quickly before taking the fruit.
“Thank you.” you smiled at him before motioning for him to sit with you as you took a bite. Astarion sat with his back against the tree you had hung your clothes on to dry. His feet next to your legs as you sat criss cross fully facing him. He ate a few bites of his apple before looking into your eyes.
“What?” he asked, he had felt you staring at him.
“Sorry! I just… I didn’t know vampires could eat real food.” you tried to say casually, finding your apple to be most interesting in the moment as you stared at it in your lap.
He chuckled, “We need blood to survive but we can still imbibe in the pleasures of mortals.”
You nodded, giving a short chuckle of embarrassment.
Astarion bent his head a little to catch your eyes which you quickly averted. He sighed, “Any other vampiric queries? You must be dying to know…” he smirked his usual taunting smirk at you.
“Are you sure? I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable…” you eyed him.
His heart grew two sizes. You cared about his feelings? You weren't going to make him talk if he didn’t want to? You surprised him everyday, and today was no exception. He nodded at you.
“Can you eat garlic?” you asked.
He laughed and looked at you confused, “Are vampires from your world so weak they can be taken out by a vegetable?”
“Apparently.” you laughed, “How come you can be in the sun?”
“That’s a new development thanks to our little worms. Usually I’d be a pile of ash.” he grimaced at the end.
You nodded curtly, “Wooden stake to the heart, is that lethal for vampires here?”
“Who wouldn’t that kill?” he asked rhetorically.
“Good point.” you said finishing your apple before throwing the core into the stream, Astarion doing the same shortly after. “How old are you?”
“230.” he said softly, the air changing into something sour.
You looked at him empathetically, scooching closer so you could sit next to him. Hesitantly you softly grabbed his hand, giving him every opportunity to pull away. He watched you trace his knuckles, veins, tendons, etc. You spoke softly as you interlaced your fingers, “People often speak in riddles when trying to comfort others… but the pain you’ve endured. All I can say is I’m so sorry Astarion. So very sorry.” You gently kissed the back of his hand before continuing to trace his veins.
He nodded and looked down to hide the stray tear that threatened to spill. He squeezed your hand before letting it go. “Would you like to do something fun?” he asked suddenly.
You pulled your hand back, missing his touch already all the while suppressing any urges to crave intimacy with him. “Absolutely! It seems we have the camp to ourselves today, no better time to do something fun.” you smiled at him standing up. You moved your armor to a large rock so everything could start drying. Astarion walked to his tent and you followed. He turned to you after digging in his supply pack for a moment. He held a rectangular bottle with a dazzling gold liquid swirling about inside.
“Elixir of Folly.” he said, handing it to you. You inspected the bottle before popping the lid open. A few random sparkles fizzled out before you brought the bottle to your nose, it smelled like vanilla and death. You quickly pulled it back from your face. Astarion laughed at your reaction. He gently took the open bottle from you.
“Don’t worry, a little death is what makes this so fun. You’ll be fine I promise.” he said before drinking half the bottle. He handed the rest to you, waiting to see if you trusted him enough to try it. You took the bottle, “Cheers?” you said quizzically before gulping down the drink. You didn’t feel any different.
“So… what does it do? Make you happy or something?” you asked, sitting on his bedroll. He sat next to you knocking your shoulder with his playfully.
“Euphoric is a better term. Let's just say this potion is for… recreational use.” He could feel a gentle warmth engulf him. His brain felt fuzzy and everything seemed full of wonder. A gentle smile laid on his face as his eyes glossed over.
You felt the same sensations, “I’m sorry but did we just do drugs? Magical drugs?” you said with a slight panic to your voice.
“Darling, with all due respect, shut up and enjoy just this once. Please?” he sighed.
You put your hands up in surrender, “Alright, I trust you.”
His eyes widened a bit, the soft glow around you surely proved you were an angel. A stupid idea really, to trust him. And yet, all he could feel was pride and joy at the fact that you trusted him and wanted to protect him. He would never admit it, not even to himself, but he trusted you too. Is this what it feels like to be cared for? You let out a long sigh, pulling him from his thoughts. He watched you shift so your whole body was laying in the pleasant sunlight. You stretched, reminding him of a cat on a sunny day. Your hand flew up, eyes still closed. He looked at your hand before taking it. You yanked him down so he was laying next to you in the sun. He quickly relaxed, stretching and making himself comfortable in the sun. He watched you, memorizing your face while it was blissed out.
“Ya know,” you began softly, keeping your eyes shut “I never do this in my world. I feel like I belong to the dark there. It's… lonely and… miserable if I’m honest. I like being here with you. With all of you. I don’t even know if I want to go back.” you hummed, a little smile never leaving your face.
What Astarion neglected to tell you was that Elixir of Folly was known for loosening tongues and dropping guards as well as its euphoric side effects. He really had no ill intentions, he really did just want to have fun with you. But he couldn’t help but hope for exactly what was happening, you dropping your guard enough for him to probe.
“You don’t want to go home?” he asked, gently brushing a piece of hair out of your closed eyes.
Your eyes fluttered open, you turned on your side so you were facing him. You softly took his hand that brushed your hair away, holding it to your cheek and rubbing your thumb over his knuckles repeatedly. “If I’m honest… it never felt like home. I was stuck doing the same mundane thing over and over again every day… it made life… melancholic.” you sighed, looking down sadly. It's true, life wasn’t easier before all this happened to you. Drowning in bills, fighting depression, being alone. Maybe that's why you thought so little of going home. You don’t really want to go back, but you should… shouldn’t you? The longer you stayed in Baldur’s Gate the less you missed your old life, the less you remembered it.
Astarion hummed, rubbing his thumb over your cheek bone. “Really? No lovers are going to miss you terribly?” he asked.
You let out a huff that was almost a chuckle, “I haven’t had a lover in quite some time.” you replied.
“Oh? And why’s that?” he said quietly shifting ever so slightly closer to you.
“I was tired of being used. I’d rather have nothing than be used like a collection of parts for somebody else.” you paused for a moment before flicking your eyes to his momentarily, “I’d live 1000 lifetimes alone if it meant I got to have one love. One true love. But… I don’t know if I was made to be loved. I think I was made to love others. To look after everyone else and make sure they feel okay. Some people are just born with tragedy in their blood I suppose.” you sighed.
“I understand,” he whispered. Trying to change the mood he quickly asked, “What’s your favorite color?”
You giggled at his ungraceful change of topic but let it slide, “Black.” you replied.
“Favorite book?”
“A Portrait of Dorian Grey.” you said quickly. “Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.” you quoted aloud.
Astarion smiled, he liked that you enjoyed reading. Even more impressive that you could recall quotes from the book so easily. He felt the quote sink into his mind, thinking how something tragic must be behind you just as there is for him.
“A secret?” he asked hesitantly, looking at you.
“I like you a lot. Even when you didn’t like me. It made me so sad you didn’t like me. It made me even sadder when you wanted to have sex because I know you don’t want to.” you rattled off, sounding progressively more sleepy and unfocused.
Astarion’s chest gave a squeeze, “How did you know I didn’t want to?”
“I know what it’s like to have someone do things to your body that you don’t want. I also know what it’s like to feel like you owe someone your body. Both are wretched feelings. I could see them in your eyes. I’d never want to hurt you, especially like that.” you mumbled, unconsciously snuggling yourself into his chest as you drifted off to sleep.
Astarion let this tear slip down his face. He listened to your even heartbeat, he watched the hypnotic rise and fall of your chest. He held you while you slept until he too started to feel drowsy.
“I’m going to fall for you and it will kill me 1000 times over when you inevitably leave.” he whispered to nobody in particular, slipping into a dreamless sleep.
-----------------------
Karlach and everyone else went back to their tents as soon as they all came back. Everyone was exhausted from having to walk two towns over since the usual merchant wasn’t in town today. She walked past Astarion’s tent with little care until she noticed four feet just barely peeking outside of the tent flap. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the tent flap slightly. Her fiery heart jolted with happiness. The two of you lost in slumber and each other's arms. Karlach silently took your phone from next to you, she took a picture of the two of you. She had come to love your phone, especially after she learned how to take selfies. Gently plopping the phone back down next to you, she backed away from the tent.
------------------------
You awoke to the ghosting of a hand rubbing soft circles on your exposed hip and lower back. Fluttering your eyes open, you were met with Astarion’s ruby eyes. You jolted back a little, the feeling of the elixir completely gone. You tried to scoot away but he held you in place.
“I’m sorry, I’ll go…” you said, again trying to leave. You couldn’t believe you fell asleep on the one person who didn’t need the pressure or even the innuendo of intimacy.
“Stay?” Astarion asked hopefully, readjusting his grip on your hip so he could pull you back to him.
“Astarion stop, you don’t have to..” you looked at him with a fragile gaze.
“But what if I want to?” he said against your lips as he finally pulled you flush to him, in the softest tone you’d ever heard him utter. His eyes looked between your lips and eyes repeatedly, asking an unspoken question.
You wish you could. Gods you do. But you couldn’t tell if this was real, or if he had ulterior motives. Your eyes grew sad as you placed your hand on his chest, putting space between the two of you.
“We shouldn’t.” you said painfully.
Astarion felt a pang in his chest, not the good kind. Did you not feel the air grow thick and sweet whenever you two were alone? He shifted his gaze downwards feeling hurt but determined not to show it.
He cleared his throat before swiftly pulling away and getting up, “We should join the others, I can smell whatever they’re roasting out there.” He helped you up with one arm.
Truth be told, your heart hurt just as much as his unbeating one. You wanted so badly to touch him, to feel him, to know him in every way. The last few weeks you have been together have brought you so much closer and every day you fell more and more for the pale elf. You’d never say it was love stirring inside you. Not out loud at least.
----------------------
The group quickly took to drinking when a new companion came to camp that night. Halsin had finally returned. You introduced yourself and found yourself drinking with the friendly druid like you were old friends. You had quite the green thumb back home, plants covered your home wall to wall. You two talked about nature endlessly and before you knew it, you felt drunk. Karlach had started to play music on your phone a while ago, everyone had come to like having the music going during supper. Astarion sat on the adjacent log at the campfire, unusually quiet beside Karlach. He watched you light up for the druid. Has he misread everything between you two over the past few weeks?
A particularly lively song came on, Allegro by Antonio Vivaldi. Halsin stood, extending his hand to you. You looked at him, your cheeks warming “I… I’m sorry… I don’t exactly know how to dance to this type of music.”
“Where better to learn than among friends?” he declared pulling you up and to the side of the campfire.
Halsin was patient. He taught you the most simple waltz, or what you could call a waltz in your state. You giggled and smiled, it was infectious. Everyone seemed to enjoy the sight. Everyone except Astarion who huffed and walked back to his tent after the third song had passed. He couldn’t bear to watch you grow close to another. The way Halsin put his hands on you so gently. Could he ever do such a thing? To watch someone else end up with someone he wanted so desperately. So purely. It left an awful taste in his mouth and a wrenching in his heart.
You spun around and finished your dance. Out of breath you thanked Halsin for the lovely dances before excusing yourself and trotting after Astarion.
--------------------
You knocked lightly on the tent post. Astarion hummed, expecting another one of your companions perhaps. You entered his tent and he tutted looking away from you.
“What?” he said sharply.
“I wanted to check on you… why’d you leave?” you said shifting from foot to foot, his tone making you feel uneasy.
“Oh you noticed? I thought you’d be in Halsin’s bed by now.” the venom in his voice made you cringe, stepping back from him.
“What? Why would you think that? I just met him tonight?” you sounded confused.
“Like that would stop you.” He said standing up, moving to walk past you.
You ignored the way you felt your eyes getting misty, putting your hand against his chest making him stop and look at you. “You’re being hurtful. Why?” you asked.
He sighed, the last time he tried this approach it got him punched so he might as well attempt to talk to you about his feelings. If he could manage it.
“Why didn’t you kiss me?” he whispered, his own eyes misting.
You bit your lip before responding truthfully, “Because I don’t know if you truly want it. Or if you’re trying to use me. I… I can't do that again, Astarion. I won't.” you paused, taking in a shaky breath “And I won't let you use yourself to get something from me. You need but ask and I will do as you ask without hesitation.”
“Kiss me then.” he asked, his eyes big and pleading.
You looked down, shaking your head. You let the tears fall but did your best to keep quiet so Astarion didn’t hear you breaking. You crumbled to the ground, the weight of everything sinking you. Astarion descended with you. He looked so soft, so concerned. So unlike the snooty jerk you initially met.
“Can I tell you a secret?” he asked, taking your hand, tracing your knuckles, veins, tendons, etc. “You could cut me down and I’d ask you to do it again. Everything with you feels unlike anything else. It drives me mad honestly.” His admission shocked you, you went to reply before he spoke again, “And yet, I seek you out every day because whatever you have poisoned me with… it's as if you are the antidote. I cannot breathe when you are not near. I rise and rest with my thoughts being overwhelmed by you.” he sighed shakily.
You looked at him, absolutely gobsmacked. Your tears hadn’t ceased; Astarion raised his hand hesitantly before deciding to beg forgiveness instead of asking permission before he wiped your cheeks with his thumb. He held your face in his palm, the lump in his throat growing with each passing moment.
“I want you. That is my choice, that is my decision, those are my feelings. And if you won’t have me just say the -” Astarion’s preparation for rejection caught in his throat when you consumed him in the most feather light kiss. Your hands shook as you gingerly held his face, ever so lightly deepening the kiss. You pulled back slightly, eyeing him for a reaction. His eyes were closed, he had a smile on his lips, and his tongue darted out to taste yourself on him.
“Can I do that again?” you ask barely above a whisper. He was captivating. His lips tasted like brandy and you could get lost in them forever.
“As you wish.” he said, opening his eyes. Pulling you to him so that you straddled him. He felt you tense above him, not putting your weight on him. “We can stop if either of us feels anything besides pleasure.” he assured you as he held your face with one hand and your hip with another. He looked so calm, as if this is right where he wanted to be. You settled yourself in his lap quickly before going back to his lips. You moved them hesitantly before he kissed you with so much passion it made your head spin. The kiss quickly turned into a battle for dominance but it was no surprise that the man with 200 years experience over you won. Astarion moved to lay you down, you felt his hands roam your body. He kissed your jaw, moving down to your neck, then your collar bones. His fingers gently untied the laces of your shirt.
You went rigid.
Scared
Is what rang out in his mind. He quickly pulled off of you, glancing you over to see if he had somehow hurt you.
“I’m sorry…” you whispered, pulling your shirt together. “Can we… not do anything more?”
Astarion’s worry faded into understanding, “Of course.” he smiled as he pulled off of you. “Could I be so bold as to ask you to stay? Just to sleep!” he quickly clarified.
You smiled up at him, your erratic heartbeat already returning to normal. “I’d love to.” you said as you shifted yourself on his bedroll.
He laid next to you gently, pulling a silken blanket over the two of you. Of course he had a silk blanket for sleeping on the ground. You chuckled to yourself at the thought. You curled into his chest once again, falling asleep all too quickly. Astarion ran his fingers through your hair, he kissed your forehead one final time before closing his eyes, preparing for sleep to take him.
“To the beginning of my end.” he cheers’ed himself.

Astarion wasn’t there when you opened your eyes. Still half asleep, you sat up and rubbed your eyes. Weeks had passed and you finally made it to Rivington. You and Astarion fell for each other. More and more each day. Both denying the depths of your affection to yourselves all the while drowning in each other daily. Everything was going slow and perfect. The tent flap opened to reveal Astarion, he beamed at you and set down the plate of food he brought in. He rushed to you and kissed you deeply, taking you back as this was the complete opposite of how he typically was.
“Hello darling, feeling alright after last night?” He chuckled lowly.
Your face was full of confusion, nothing happened last night. Was Astarion feeling ok?
“Did I give you such pleasure your voice is raw my dear?” Astarion said moving to kiss your neck quickly and roughly.
What the fuck was he doing? Your heart sped up, growing more nervous by the second.
“Astarion, stop.” You said, putting your hands on his chest. He continued kissing your neck, nipping and sucking bruises onto you. His fingers roughly pulled your shirt up, exposing your chest. His fingers danced across your skin. You started to panic, “I said stop!” You yelled pushing him back harshly.
His face twisted in anger. His eyes shifted white and his bones cracked, twisting unnaturally. You screamed loudly. A disturbing looking, yet beautiful woman hovered above you, her smile wide and frightening. Orin? You think that’s her name? Your heart sped up but you released a small sigh of relief, happy that it wasn’t your Astarion pushing your boundaries. He would never.
“Come get your lover boy.” She snickered at you before disappearing into black smoke. Lae’zel ripped open the tent flap. She saw you with your shirt hanging off your shoulder and bruises on you. You could see panic in her eyes before rage.
“Did Astarion do that to you? Where is he? I'll tear his head from his body…” she said looking around the tent and to the stream.
You clutched your chest, running to Lae’zel and hugging her. She patted your back stiffly. “I’m sorry…” you said shakily, backing up and pointing a quivering finger at his bedroll, “she… she looked like Astarion but s-something was wrong with her. She said… come get him?” Lae’zel’s face said she knew what it was.
“Shapechanger…” she whispered, quickly retreating from your tent and moving to get her armor on. The sun was descending behind the horizon rapidly. “Get the others.” Lae’zel commanded. You ran to the others tents one by one, quickly muttering about Astarion and needing to leave ASAP.
You, Lae’zel, Karlach, and Shadowheart speedily left camp. “Where are we going?” You yelled, trying to keep up with everyone in your dense armor. You were struggling to breathe, panic bubbling up inside you, all you could think of was how badly you needed to get him back. He must be so scared. What if it was too late? No. You can’t think like that, just get to him.
You ran and ran until you reached a dark entrance to the last place you wanted to be. The Temple of Bhaal. Not knowing why healing spells didn’t work on you, battle was risky, especially not knowing if Withers could bring you back. You had to go though, sitting and waiting at camp would kill you.
You all but rushed in before Lae’zel yanked your arm to stop you. You looked at her ready to bite her head off. She put her finger to her lips, indicating you needed to be quiet. She listened through the door, hearing movement but not much else.
“Do you think they'll come for you little spawn?” Orin laughed maniacally. “I doubt it… your little love must not be pleased with you, they didn’t want my touch when I was in your shape.”
This made Astarion’s eyes snap up and he struggled even harder against his confines, drawing blood. “You touched them?” He growled angrily. Astarion and you held comfort in the fact that neither of you would push intimacy. You both had trauma in that area, finding solace in one another as you slowly worked on yourselves to be able to enjoy each other fully, one day.
Orin paced a bit in front of Astarion, “Only a little,” she smiled disgustingly, “They looked so afraid when slid my hands under their shirt, along their chest…. Not an apt lover are you? How disappointing.” Orin gripped Astarion’s face tightly, forcing him to look at her.
While she scanned him over, everyone else prepared for battle, moving into strategic positions. All you could think of was Astarion.
“Free him, that's your job. We’ll take care of Orin.” Karlach said to you, knowing you were in no position to fight.
“Ok just let me do this..” You whispered. You cast a web on Orin, the others charging towards her.
You snuck behind the battle, rushing towards Astarion. You speedily untied his hands and ankles. He rushed to stand you both up and pull you away from the battle. His fingers ghosted over the bruises he could see peeking out your armor on your neck. His face had never looked so sad, you thought.
“Astarion!” Lae’zel screamed. It was too late, Astarion’s shirt seeped with crimson. Orin stood behind him smiling that haunting smile, holding the end of the dagger that was buried in his back. Astarion went limp, his eyes no longer gleaming. He was gone.
You let out a horrified scream, tears blinding you. Your sorrow instantly turned into rage. You cast hold on Orin, she couldn’t move, she couldn’t speak. You wanted her to know pain. Shadowheart handed you one of her many daggers.
“Do you know what you’ve done?” you spat at her, “Let me show you.” You felt detached from your body as you split her open from navel to neck. You rummaged through her open chest before yanking her heart out. You held it up to her face so she could watch her still beating heart wither away. Her head lolled to the side, your spell broke and Orin fell to the floor. Dead, finally dead.
Karlach grabbed your form, frozen in shock. “We have to go.” she spoke. You fought against her, trying to get back to Astarion. Not caring if you were caught in the temple, you wanted him back. You sobbed and fought as hard as you could in your state. Lae’zel and Karlach managed to pull you into the portal to camp.
-----------------------
You fell to the ground as soon as you exited the portal. Screaming and crying. Ripping the armor off yourself as it was restricting your already erratic breathing. Everyone in camp was watching you but only Shadowheart sunk to the ground to hold you. You have no idea how long it took you to calm down. Once you did, Karlach gently approached you, nodding at Shadowheart to give you two a moment.
“Talk to Withers.” was all she whispered, slipping gold into your hands. You looked confused for a moment before scrambling to your feet and sprinting to the bone man.
You shoved the gold into his chest before he could get a word out, “Bring Astarion back! Please…” you whimpered out. You didn’t hear him talking to you but you did pay attention as he started casting a spell. A human shape appeared in a brilliant flash of light, Astarion. He stumbled a bit when his form took shape completely, he immediately started looking around. You rushed him, tumbling you both to the ground.
Everyone in the camp was watching from where they were, trying not to be obvious about their eavesdropping. They knew you and the vampling had become friends but they didn’t know you were this close. Or that your feelings went far deeper than friendship.
You and Astarion sat up, his one arm curled around your waist tightly, the other was embedded in your hair. Your arms were thrown around his neck, your face in the crook of his neck. You both held each other like your lives depended on it. When you both pulled away after god knows how long, you held his face. Looking him over repeatedly as if he were a dream that you would wake up from. “I thought you were dead.” you whispered barely audible.
Astarion held your hand on his face before moving to kiss your wrist, “You think death could separate me from you? I think not.” He said with his signature smirk. He wiped your tears away before pulling you back into a hug. “Shall we rest?” he said, rubbing his hands up and down your back to sooth you. You nodded against him. He stood up and wobbled for a second before standing you up. He began walking back to his tent, hand in yours before you slipped your hand away from his.
“Just a second.” you said looking at him, he nodded at you, curious as to what you needed to do.
You dashed over to Karlach who was just as surprised as Astarion that you were running to her. You captured her into a bone crushing hug “Thank you.” you whispered. She chuckled before hugging you back, lifting you off the ground for a second.
“What are friends for?” she said.
“Anything you want, anything at all, just ask.” you told her, placing a swift peck on her cheek to show the depth of your gratitude. She smiled and squeezed your hand before nodding towards Astarion. You turned back to scamper back to him, not missing the genuine smile on his face.
Once back in his tent, he held you close to him. “Was the thought of life without me that unbearable my sweet?” he said, trying to lighten the mood. Your smile faltered as you gently played with the white curls at the nape of his neck.
“A life without you… is no life at all.” you whispered, watching his eyes. He could have melted at that moment. He knew what he felt for you, in the depths of his unbeating heart he knew. He knew the second he moved so Orin would hit him instead of you. Putting your needs before his? The ever selfish and self absorbed Astarion? That could only be one thing. Love, he knew it and he was sure you felt the same considering the events of the night.
He continued holding you, leaning your foreheads together in perfect silence. Just enjoying being together. Neither of you brave enough to say the three little words you both meant with every bit of your souls.
“I’m sorry.” whispered Astarion, his breath causing your eyelashes to flutter open. “I’m sorry Orin got to you. I’m sorry she violated you… in my shape no less.” his eyes read with an emotion you had never seen before. Shame.
You shook your head and kissed him quickly, “That was not you and it was not your fault.” you reassured him, sitting on his bedroll. You laid down, letting out a sigh that felt as if it was releasing all the pent up emotions of the day. Astarion sat next to you, hand tracing the dip of your hip slowly. This was him. This is the touch of your Astarion. You knew the difference instantly.
“What are you thinking?” he asked.
“Abashed the Devil stood and felt how awful goodness is…” Astarion let out a soft chuckle before you continued, “I remember reading that in school and not understanding at the time. I think I do now. For however wicked I am, I felt goodness and I was done for.” you hummed.
“Oh? And what goodness is this?” Astarion asked, he longed to have you as close as possible. Not once did he feel disgust or shame when he thought of having you. He craved to touch you, and for you to touch him.
“You.” you said bluntly, “Good weights so much more than evil does. It’s more fragile, and so easy to rot. But you… you made me feel good. You are good, despite what you may think. And I’m… grateful that you share yourself with me.” you said, taking his hand from your waist and bringing it to you so you could kiss his finger tips.
Astarion didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t good and yet here you lay, thanking him for being… himself? You saw good in him when very few did, including himself. He couldn’t put his feelings into words. He leaned over and kissed you, deeply and with as much feeling as he could put into a kiss. You sat up onto your elbow, holding his face and reciprocating his kiss. Your heart beating fiercely. He pulled you to him, holding you in his arms. You shifted to straddle him, Astarions hands firmly holding your hips. The kisses shared between you were slow and sensual, as if to savor them. As if to say, there is no past, there is only this moment. And this moment is consumed by us.
Without thinking, Astarion ground your hips against his. You let out a soft gasp of air, pulling away from Astarion. His eyes were clouded over with lust. Not his usual seduction lust, but a lust that poets write about. “I’m sorry..” he whispered. You didn’t respond, you just ground your hips against his in return. His hands held you still after a moment, his breath already picking up. “Darling you don’t have to do that…”
“But what if I want to?” you smiled at him mischievously, using his own line against him.
“Truly?” he asked, a glimmer of doubt still in his eyes.
You held your breath for a moment, closing your eyes before letting the words fall from your lips “I love you… truly.” you said finally looking him in his eyes. He looked like a deer in headlights. “I don’t expect you to say it back… but it’s how I feel when I’m with you. My chest can barely contain my heart… as if it doesn’t belong to me anymore.” you could see the cogs in his brain working overtime. You moved to get off his lap, to give him time to process the literal love bomb you dropped on him. However, as soon as he felt you shift to get off him, he pulled you back. Smashing his lips into yours before he whispered against them “And I you.”
He continued grinding your hips into his, letting out the most delicious whimpers and mewls you ever heard. He gently tugged at the laces of your shirt, watching your eyes for any indication of fear or regret. But it never came.
Happy
Is what the worm communicated to him. You both felt happy. Not only happy, but safe. Safe enough to indulge in each other - mind, body, and soul. Where others had taken, you were giving yourselves to each other and it was… liberating. To be known.
Your shirt slipped off your shoulders, puddling around your hips. Astarion gazed at your chest, your neck, everything about you bewitched him. You chuckled before tilting his head up to kiss him. He had never felt this light before. Like he was floating. Like he himself was daylight caressing you. He kissed you endlessly, every piece of skin was smothered in kisses. Little nips here and there, earning him a gasp and soft smack to his arm, making him chuckle. When he kissed and sucked at your nipples you lost all sense. All you could feel was him.
He took his time with you kissing, licking, nipping - anything he could do to heighten your pleasure. You tugged at his shirt, he obliged your silent request as he helped you remove it. You felt his hand inching closer to your heat, his cold fingers ghosting over your thin night clothes. You stuttered out a breath, gripping his shoulder to keep yourself upright. He began working you, just the way you liked. As if he already knew your body and what made it tick. He loved watching your face, blissed out just for him. He kept his mouth busy on your chest but he couldn’t ignore the way he heard your blood pump.
“Do you want to?” you breathed out in a pant, catching him eyeing your neck. You were barely able to compose yourself, his expert fingers toying with you.
“May I?” he asked, chasing after your lips, they were puffy from being overworked.
You pulled back from the kiss and tilted you head. Your hips now matching the pace of his fingers, you were getting so close. Astarion kissed your neck a few times “Good little pet.” he whispered before sinking his fangs in. He swore you tasted sweeter this way. In the throws of ecstasy you tasted like pure heaven. Sweet, delicate, savory. You were dizzy from the pleasure and blood loss, your orgasm hit you unexpectedly. Astarion pulled away quickly so his fangs didn’t rip you apart as you squirmed above him.
“That’s it, easy darling.” he said, eyes watching your face contort with pleasure. He didn’t stop, working you over until tears formed on your waterline. You wanted so badly to moan out but you’d never hear the end of it from the others if you did. You took Astarion’s hand and bit down on him, muddling your moans. Astarion looked at you with such lust he hardly felt the sting of your teeth breaking his skin. You felt the pleasure and pain of overstimulation but gods you never wanted it to stop. As the tears slipped down your cheeks you whined “Too much…”
Astarion pulled his hand away, licking his fingers of your essence. You breathed heavily for a moment, trying to compose yourself while leaning against him. You reached for his trousers but his hand stopped you. “Not tonight my love. I got plenty of pleasure watching you.” he smiled, moving stray fly aways from your face. You looked so beautiful. Cheeks pink, chest heaving, eyes droopy from pleasure.
“Are you sure?” you asked. He could see it in your eyes, obligation.
“You owe me nothing, my love. I wanted to make you feel good.” you kissed him again and again. Thanking him for not using you, as others so often had.
He slid the shoulders of your shirt back up, the chill of the deep night invading the tent.
“We should sleep.” you mumbled, already starting to drift off on his shoulder.
Astarion gently moved so you were both lying down, he moved to get the blanket which caused you to whine as he wasn’t in your arms. He smiled at the neediness of you. Laying back down he pulled you flush against him, tangling your legs together. He gently traced invisible patterns on your back, sending you to sleep swiftly.
Astarion gazed at you the whole night, not wanting to sleep as if you would disappear from his arms once his eyes closed. The negative thoughts plagued his mind but he willed them away. Not now, he thought. Not in this perfect moment.
“Abashed the Devil stood and felt how awful goodness is…” he whispered, kissing you gently so as to not wake you. “Goodnight darling.” he traced over your face gently. “I love you…” he let out, not knowing you heard it bringing a subtle smile to your face.
Hello my pretties! I hope this chapter is to your liking, its a bit on the shorter side and Idk how I feel about it tbh. I'll be writing the next part soon, I hope to see your comments they really encourage me. Thank you all - XOXO :)

You laid in the lush grass atop a hill near camp. Using the owl bear as a pillow, Scratch under one arm, and Grub under the other. Your eyes hazily watched the sunset, the comfort of the animals making you feel warm and happy inside.
“You shouldn’t sneak up on people you know…” you say aloud.
“How did you know I was there?” Astarion scoffed.
“Maybe you’re not as stealthy as you think.” You smiled, opening your eyes fully to see him.
Astarion sat next to you, gently going for your hand. The owlbear lowly growled. Astarion snatched his hand back, looking at the owlbear as if it betrayed him. You giggled before slowly sitting up and stretching. You gave each animal their well deserved pets before chucking Scratch’s ball down by the stream where they all ran off to.
“That oversized snack growled at me.” Astarion said, still in shock.
“Maybe it’s because you call them ‘an oversized snack.’” You said as you shifted your position so you were lying down but your head was in Astarion’s lap.
“Something’s troubling you my love?” Astarion’s eyebrows were drawn together in concern, his big doe eyes present. He smoothed over the creases of your face, pushing your worries away.
You huffed. Tomorrow is the day you take down Cazador and you worry Astarion will elect to ascend himself. Over the past few weeks running around Rivington and Baldur’s Gate, every time he spoke of Cazador, he spoke of the ritual. He spoke of how he wanted to ascend. You picked at your nails, maybe now is the right time to tell him about you, so he can make a better choice.
“I think it’s time I tell you the truth.” You said eyes flicking to him before sitting adjacent to him. He immediately went to hold your hands, growing more concerned by your stoic face and distant eyes.
“Darling whatever it is… it won’t change us.” He spoke softly.
“I’m not sure how to explain it, and you'll probably think I’m insane by the end of it….” You paused, sucking in a breath before letting out a sigh. “I'm not from Toril… I’m from Earth which is pretty similar to Toril. My world is full of technology, it’s run by machines…” Astarion’s eyes watched you intently.
“In my world… there is a game… and it’s where all of you live… you’re a game character where I’m from. It’s why I know so much about all of you… it’s why I’m so nervous about tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow I’ll finally be free.” Astarion said with a tinge of confusion in his voice.
“Free, yes. But you have a choice to make and that will decide everything.” You gave him a minute to process everything.
“What happens tomorrow? You said you knew about us all so you must know how everything ends.” he asks curiously.
“You will choose to ascend or not….”
“And once I do?” he said.
“You’ll be free and have power… but you’ll lose yourself. Everything about you that makes you… you… it’ll be gone. You won’t love me, you’ll want to control me. You’ll kill so many people…” you looked anywhere but at him.
“The spawn? There’s only seven and they aren’t exactly innocent.” he scoffed.
“Not seven… 7000. Children, innocents, fools, the random unlucky… That is what troubles me, Astarion. I love you and I want you to be happy and live a life you can be proud of… and I understand after spending 200 years in the shadows power sounds delicious… but… but you become something… other.” your voice wavered a bit at the end and Astarion didn’t miss it. “But I will leave the decision with you, it is not one I can make for you… just be prepared to live with the outcome of your choice.”
“Thank you for telling me.” Astarion said, sitting in silence with you for what felt like days, “So you’re from another world?” He smiled at you a bit. “Glad to know my charm works across the worlds.”
You chuckled a bit, the worry still eating at the back of your mind, this wasn’t a game. You can’t simply pick the right dialogue and make him not ascend. This will be his choice, he has to make it alone. And you just have to hope to god he chooses the right thing. You’ll love him regardless. You have to, he has your heart.
“I have questions…” he started.
“I figured you would… Anything you want to know, I will answer.”
“What is the year where you’re from?” He looked like a child, ready to burst with inquiries.
“2023,” you smiled at him, “I was born in ____.”
Astarion’s eyes looked at you with wonder, “Are there more things like your phone in the future?”
“Oh yes, much grander too. Our technology knows no bounds. It is always changing, advancing.” you told him.
“Sounds powerful, helpful even.” he said tracing the lines on your palm.
“It has brought humanity great advances… and great pain.” you said solemnly.
“What do you do in your realm?” he changed the subject knowing the slight pain in your voice, not wanting to make it worse.
You laughed, “I’m an… alchemist.” this wasn’t entirely untrue, you worked in the chemistry lab at your university, working to make a substitute for white blood cells which would aid the world immensely. You had only been doing it for a few months before you got sucked into the game.
“Is that why you chose to be a cleric?” he asked.
“Yes, though the alchemy I practiced was to aid humanity. The alchemy I practice here is… different.” you said, not knowing if those were the right words.
“Vampires in your world?” he asked.
You giggled. “Maybe once, but for the most part they are fantasy. So is everything else you have here. Dragons, fairies, druids, potions, wizards, devils… all of it. None of it exists in my world, they’re fairy tales.”
“Sounds mundane,” he retorted. “Are people in your world happy?”
“Is anyone truly happy?” you asked, your eyes looked dull. “I… I’m staying here, Astarion. I don’t want to go back. I am happy here, with you. And… that, that’s all I need. It’s all I want. Us, everything else is background noise.” you said kissing the back of his hand, eyes finally looking up to him.
“I… don’t know what to say.” he said.
“I dropped a lot of information on you. I’m from a completely different planet, possibly a different plane of existence… you take all the time you need.” you told him shifting to get up.
He held your hand and got up himself before slipping something on your finger. The shadowblade ring, his hand adorning the other. “I do know that I want you with me, always. I may not understand your world, perhaps I never will. And you chose quite the damaged artifact to love,” You shook your head at him holding his hand tightly, caressing his face gently. “Whatever comes, we shall face it together. I care for you deeply, I love you, I see you.”
You knew you were crying like a big sap, but you couldn’t help it. You let out a relieved chuckle, pulling him into a kiss, just as the sun faded away behind the horizon. “I see you too. Together?” you asked him, holding out your pinky. He stared at it not really knowing what it meant. You hooked your finger with his, “Promise, this means promise.” you explained.
He squeezed your pinkie in his, “Promise.”
-------------------------
The battle against Cazador was long and brutal. You used everything you had in you, your spirit guardians fighting to give you some sort of reprieve. Cazador’s helpers fought hard and by the end of the fight, everyone was exhausted.
Astarion ripped Cazador from his coffin, screaming at him. You hung back with everyone, wanting to let Astarion take the lead on this. Astarion held Cazador’s staff, the iridescent red lights swirling about. Astarion had a decision to make. His eyes held fury towards Cazador, he wanted to make him pay.
“Astarion” your voice rang out, it sounded distant and echoed in his mind. He was lost in a haze of hatred. He could feel the power emanating from the staff. The world was at his fingertips and all he had to do was take it. He came out of his trance when he felt a trembling hand cover his on the staff. Your eyes were puffy, tears brimming but you wouldn’t let them fall. Your voice quivered as your lip trembled.
“Astarion…” you said again with a whimper.
“Darling… the heavens and the earth are ours to take… I want to give you everything… give us everything.”
“I have everything I need…” you said softly, voice still wavering. “I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth but… but you have to stand with me. Please…” you begged him, the tears starting to slip at the very thought of him ascending. You smoothed your thumb over his ring, the one matching yours. The one tying you together. “I cannot face the world alone, darling please...” you looked into his glowing red eyes. Perhaps he was too far gone.
Astarion shoved you back before planting the staff in front of him, red magic swirled about the room as if it was leaking from every crevice. Astarion twisted the staff. You heard… the gates in the hall open? You whipped your head back to look at Astarion. He was looking down at Cazador, staff discarded on the floor.
He didn’t ascend.
You watched him in what felt like slow motion, he stalked towards Cazador, pure resentment on his face. He stabbed and slashed his old master repeatedly. Until he was nearly cut in half. The others looked at Astarion with horror and understanding. He fell to the ground sobbing; finally, you rushed to him. Arms securing themselves around his waist, head resting on his shoulder. He slumped into you, shaking violently. You whispered words of affirmation to him, hoping to calm him. The others left the hall, getting to the spawn to explain the directions to the Underdark. Astarion eventually turned catatonic, it felt as though he wasn’t breathing. You gently pulled away to peer at his face. His eyes were closed, he looked… at peace. You barely touched your fingers to his jaw. His eyes stirred beneath his lids for a moment before opening to reveal his scarlet eyes. His eyes were soft, his face relaxed. He looked so vulnerable like this.
“Are you ok?” he whispered.
“What? Of course I’m ok, are you ok?” you asked in disbelief.
“I’m… numb? The weight of everything, it’ll take time to settle in.” you nodded in agreement. “Can we go home?” Astarion asked, searching your eyes.
“Let's go home.” you kissed his forehead. You both stood, pain settled in different parts of your body, reminding you of the battle.
-----------------------
You met everyone else out front, everyone looking empathetically to Astarion. You entered the portal and were instantly transported to your little grassy hill. You led Astarion to his tent, both of you sitting on the bedroll. The silence between you was comfortable.
“Thank you.” Astarion said randomly.
“For what?” you asked genuinely.
“For saving me from… myself. I felt a fraction of that power and it was glorious, but… I also felt no love when I looked at you. I wanted to dominate you, control you - nothing more. It felt wrong. I couldn’t do that to you.” he admitted, feeling disgusted with himself.
“I’m proud of you, ya know. You gave 7000 people a chance at life again.” you said, smiling at him.
“Ever so hopeful.” he chuckled at you. His eyes held the smallest bit of fire in them, but fire for what?
Astarion grabbed your hips and draped you across his lap. You gasped, taken back by the swift action. He softly captured your lips in his, moving slowly. His hands explored you with a feather light touch, getting progressively needier. His hand snuck up your leg, between your thighs.
“May I?” he asked quietly, barely pulling away from your lips.
You nodded, attempting to pull him back to you.
“Words, I need words.” he said leaving kisses on your jaw.
“Yes… please…” you breathed out, already lost in him.
Astarion put his hand to work, pleasing you with intentional touches. Your head fell back and your eyes rolled. You ran your hands over his chest, trying to feel all of him. You tugged at his pants. His eyes met yours before he hooked his fingers into the soft fabric, pulling it down. Astarion forced your hips down roughly, holding your waist tight with one arm, the other holding your face. You and Astarion moved your small clothes to the side before having him fill you up in the most splendid way.
“I love you” Astarion whimpered out, his breathing becoming more ragged by the minute.
You rode him slowly, savoring each movement. Astarion pulled your shirt open, going to town on your chest and all the spots he knew made you tick. Astarion picked up the pace, he was desperate and sloppy. You came first with a stifled moan, Astarion soon after with a grunt.
You rolled over to reach inside your supply pack. You handed Astarion the familiar bottle, Elixir of Folly.
“Oh my, how I’ve corrupted you.” he said with a smirk, resting on his elbow as he opened the bottle. He took a few swigs of it before passing it back to you, the warm numbing feeling overtaking his lips.
“Hush, we deserve to celebrate.” you smiled while drinking the rest of the potion.
Finally laying down together, you traced the features of his face, “Perfect.” is all you could say.
Astarion smiled at the word. He kissed you again before cuddling into the crook of your neck.
“What do you dream of?” you asked softly, playing with the curly wisps of hair at the nape of Astarion’s neck.
“You.” he mumbled into your neck, you could feel the smile on his face.
You chuckled before gently tugging at the roots of his hair. He groaned before pulling his head back enough to look into your eyes.
“Seriously, you’re free. And immortal. Gotta come up with some plans to fill that eternity.” your finger traced down his nose and ghosted over his lips.
Astarion looked off distantly. He was immortal. He hadn’t even considered the fact that he would live forever and you would not. He knew he wanted to turn you. As you said - a life without each other is no life at all. He could help you as a spawn and then you could make your plans to see the world. You just have to agree to a life in the shadows. Astarion didn’t know if he could ask that to you.
You noticed the silence but let it beat on. When Astarion’s hold tightened you spoke up, “What is it?” you said, looking at him with concern.
“I… I have something incredibly selfish to ask of you…” he said, lacing his fingers through yours.
“Honey you can ask me anything, why do you sound so scared?” you said, face scrunched up.
“Because it would change everything…” his eyes met yours.
“Oh gods please don’t tell me you want to have a baby…” you looked at him with shock and a bit of caution.
Astarion laughed, a full laugh that made the corners of his eyes crinkle, it calmed your heart. “No darling… vampires rarely conceive anyways.” he sucked in a breath and willed his unbeating heart to calm itself. “I want you to become immortal.”
Silence.
“I know it would change you and everything you’ve known. You’d have to live in the shadows. You’d have to drink blood. You’d become undead. It is possibly the most selfish thing I could ask of you and I understand if that is not the path you want for your life… but… the thought of you… not being with me for eternity… it eats away at me and I can’t… I won’t… I just…”
You pulled him into a tender kiss. Silencing his babbling. You knew the moment you fell for the vampire that your fate would forever be mingled with his. If that meant giving up aging and your days in the sun - it was a small price to pay. 1000 lifetimes, one true love. What more could you ask for?
“Astarion,” you said, your eyes glazed over, the elixir working in your body. Unwinding every muscle, relaxing every joint, quelling every concern, a euphoric pit in your stomach. Astarion watched you with big eyes, bracing himself for the worst. “I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth as long as you stand with me. Forever?” you questioned holding your pinky out to him. He smoothly rolled on top of you so he was straddling your frame. He lent down, sliding his hands into yours and moving them above your head. His lips met yours, “Forever, until the world crumbles around us.” he kissed along your neck. The elixir was amplifying all of your sensations. His kisses felt like fire against you, contrasting against his icy fingers that trailed along the hem of your shirt. Not waiting for him to ask, you pulled your shirt off.
Astarion traced his lips over any and all available skin, never getting enough of you. He slid his hand up your thigh as you raised it to wrap around his waist.
“Eager little pup?” he said between kisses. “Allow me to show you my gratitude? And what you have to look forward to for eternity." He wore the most sultry, lust filled, down right devilish smirk.
You nodded at him, watching as he descended to plant himself between your legs. His arms hooking around your thighs to keep them open and keep your hips pressed to the bed. The second his mouth was on you, your hands flew to his snowy curls. He knew exactly what made you feel good and yet, he explored you. Trying to find every little thing that made you see stars. Your back arched and Astarion’s grip on you tightened. He loved feeling you writhe beneath him at every little touch. The more you moved the closer you got and Astarion could feel it. He continued his ministrations, adding more pressure. You toppled over the edge, the elixir setting your body alight as you came. He kept on you until you tugged his head back, breathing heavily and trying to regain any semblance of composure. You pulled Astarion to you, capturing him in a deep kiss.
“Was it good?” he asked.
“Pffft… was it good? I think that was the hardest I’ve ever cum in my life.” you laughed, kissing him again before looking at his pants and back to his eyes.
“No more darling, one is enough for me.” he said, caressing your face, you nodded in understanding.
“When do you want to turn me?” you asked, basking in the afterglow.
“When do you want me to?” he asked, this was about you in almost every way. Your comfort and consent was his priority.
“Tomorrow?” you asked, playing with his hand that found itself tracing the curve of your waist.
“Tomorrow it is.” he said.
“Will it hurt?” you asked, the smallest bit of apprehension in your voice.
“It isn’t pleasant… it will hurt but only for a few moments. Then you’ll just feel… numb for a bit.” Astarion said, trying to recall how he felt 200 years ago.
You nodded, figuring it wasn’t all roses and daisies. Anything was to be endured if it meant you had him forever.
“Sleep now darling, tomorrow we embrace eternity together.” he said, kissing your lips, cheek, and forehead.
You snuggled further into his chest, legs mingling with his. The elixir pulling you into slumber quickly, “Love you.” was the last thing you whispered out before soft snores came from your lips.
Astarion traced letters into your shoulder as you slept. A - E - T - E - R - N - A , he paused briefly before continuing his writing, A - M - A - N - T - E - S. He would love you forever, and he hoped to all the gods in a collective prayer, something he hadn't done in a millennium, that you would love him back - just as much - for just as long.
Hey everyone! I hope this chapter is to everyone’s liking, I think this story might be coming to an end :( don’t worry tho! I’ll post other new stuff. Please send requests, I love them! Thank you all for reading Ilysm 💖💖💖💖

Do You Love Me?
Astarion x Y/N - Drabble - 523 WC

Warnings: tooth rotting fluff, HEAVILY inspired by this scene in Bridgerton (plot belongs to them)
---------------------
You and Astarion glared at each other, tensions high. So high, in fact that everyone else left camp to do gods know what just as long as it was away from you two.
“Do you love me?” you asked him point blank.
He hesitated, “I’m trying to protect you.”
“Do you love me?” you asked again.
He looked at you with a pained expression, “I cannot.” he said defeated.
“Do you love me?” you repeated.
“Y/N please, stop.” he said, backing away slowly.
You followed him to the center of camp, not letting him walk away from whatever this was, “Is this because you believe that I cannot love you? Because I do…. I love you Astarion.” Sincerity shined in your eyes.
Astarion stared in disbelief, his mouth not able to produce words.
“I love you so much that I will go, if that is what you wish. I will do that. We can live our separate lives and once the tadpoles are dealt with you never have to see me again. But first you have to say you do not love me; you must tell me that I am utterly alone in this world.”
He shook his head, trying to break your gaze but unable to, “I’m a monster Y/N. I am a danger. There are two sides in me fighting for power, it's as if the heavens and the hells are colliding.”
“Do you love me?” you asked with a wanting tone.
“You do not wish a life for yourself with me!” he yelled, making you jump a bit “No one wishes it!”
“Astarion!” you yelled back not backing down, “I will stand with you between the heavens and the hells, I will tell you who you are, do you love me?” you said as you stood only a breath away from him.
“I love you!” he yelled, his voice wavering at the end. You could see unwanted tears welling up in his eyes. “From… from the moment you walked into camp I have loved you desperately; I cannot breathe when you are not near…. I love you Y/N… my heart calls your name.”
He looked at the ground, feeling weak for telling you everything he had tried desperately to keep bottled up and pushed down. He felt your hand cradle his face, bring him into a sweet kiss. He kissed you back fervently, but sobs escaped him after a moment.
“This… condition has been my shame for 200 years… this darkness... my burden for so long… and you… you are a light in that darkness.”
You ran your thumbs comfortingly over his sharp cheekbones, “Astarion, it's you and me. Just us. Together.”
Astarion scanned your face multiple times, looking for any indications of deception, yet all he found were kind eyes and a loving smile. His lips twitched upwards for the first time all night, Astarion pulled you back into a kiss, much deeper and full of passion. His arms enveloped you into a hug, your hands still holding his face.
“I love you.” he breathed out just above a whisper.
“And I you, for eternity.” you reassured, kissing the tip of his nose.

Warnings: drug use (the zaza), depressed Astarion, slightly steamy (like a rolling boil), astronomy, flufffff, comfort
-------------------
Astarion laid on the ground with a distant look in his eyes.
“What’s wrong?” you said kicking him in the side lightly before sitting down with him.
He didn’t look at you, “Wallowing in self pity.” he said in a monotone voice.
You hummed in response, poking his face. He had no reaction. You sighed before getting up and sauntering away. Astarion assumed you left him and his sour mood, alas you reappeared with a small box.
“I haven’t shared this with anybody, but it always makes me feel better.” you said opening the box and placing a joint on his chest.
He finally looked at you before grabbing the joint and sitting up on his elbows. “What is it?” he asked, sounding unimpressed.
“Where I’m from it is technically a drug but it comes from a plant so it isn’t the worst thing ever to ingest.” you said taking the joint from his hand. You produced a small blue flame from your palm, lighting the bud. You took a long drag before holding it in a moment, You coughed a bit as you exhaled.
“Is this what I smell from your tent every other night, darling it’s ghastly.” he said, turning his head away.
“Stop being a bitch and try it.” you rolled your eyes at him before passing the spliff.
He brought it to his lips, copying what you did. You both went back and forth like this until the joint was finished. Both your eyes were hazy and bloodshot. You wore a goofy smile, rocking yourself a little bit. You and Astarion watched the sunset in peaceful silence.
“You’re really pretty.” Astarion said randomly, you could hear the intoxication in his voice.
You laughed when you looked at him, all doped up.
“You’re pretty too.” you said simply.
Astarion moved so his back was laying on your chest, you instinctively wrapped your arms around him in a loose hug. You rested your chin on his shoulder as you watched the sun disappear and the stars begin to shine.
“What do you think is out there?” he said, jutting his chin out towards the sky.
“Space? Lots of stuff out there… stars, moons, planets, galaxies… On my world, we have managed to send machines and people into space. The machines send us back portraits of what is out there… I don’t understand it all but it is no less beautiful.” you sighed happily.
“Humans in space? I don’t believe you.” he said, crossing his arms like a grumpy child.
You laughed at him before kissing his shoulder, “There is a planet in my solar system called Neptune, it rains diamonds there. There’s another planet named Saturn, it has rings around it. One day on the planet Venus is a year on my world…” you prattled on all the astronomy science you could recall. “Oh! My favorite fact - were all made of stardust!”
Astarion looked at you with a sarcastic raise of his eyebrow but a playful smirk on his lips. “Are we now?”
“Yes,” you nuzzled into his neck, kissing his jaw softly. “Nearly all the elements in our bodies are only forged in the hearts of stars.”
“You amaze me.” he turned his head, kissing your cheek. He leaned his forehead against yours, eyes meeting. You felt euphoric in this moment, the drug elevating your senses. Astarion played with your fingers for a moment before kissing your fingertips. “I’m sorry I was… unpleasant earlier. I just… I worry about the future.”
“What about the future?” you ask.
“Where you see yourself in it…” his eyes were big and gentle, “Selfless as I am, I don’t want to let you go… but I understand if you do.”
You shifted so you could face Astarion, “I will be with you as long as you’ll have me my love.” you pecked the corners of his lips before kissing him softly.
He held the back of your head, deepening the kiss. When you finally came up for air you rested your forehead against his, eyes closed trying to regulate your uneven breathing. “To the stars?” he said holding your hand.
“To the stars and beyond.” you squeezed his hand reassuring him. He sighed a sigh of relief before pulling you into a kiss, laying you down slowly.

---------------
Astarion set down the new ball you asked him to get Scratch while he was in the city. He left his tent, going to search for you as the sun went down. Lately you liked to watch the moon come out from the broken tower near camp. Astarion walked up the stairs softly, coming to the third floor he finally saw you. Your back was laying against the owlbear, Scratch laid under one arm, Grub under the other, Us laid by your feet. Astarion chuckled, alerting you of his presence.
“Hi,” you said, turning your head and smiling at him.
“Hello darling,” Astarion said, sitting next to you while gently petting Scratch.
“I can’t believe you keep that demented thing.” Astarion said while pointing at Us.
You playfully smacked his arm, “Us is a delight, how dare you.”
Astarion laughed as he watched the stars start to shine, the moon enveloping the night. “You’re radiant, you know.” he gently pushed away the hair falling in front of your eyes.
“That’s just the moon Star.” you whispered his nickname sleepily as you took hold of his hand.
“Not just your body darling… look at how life and love blossoms with you near. Animals have a sense about them, they can detect good and evil. I think you have to be an angel the way they love you.” Astarion said, looking at you fondly.
“I love them, they know were a family. My group of good boys.” Astarion’s heart jumped when you motioned between you, the pets, and him. He was your family.
The pocket on the front of your jacket shuffled a bit, drawing Astarion’s attention away momentarily. You closed your eyes, knowing you were caught in this moment. “What is that?” Astarion asked, pulling faintly at the pocket to view inside.
You moved Astarion’s hand aside, pulling out your new friend. In your hand laid a small bat, flitting about slightly before nuzzling its head into your hand. You smiled at the creature. “I think he’s waiting for a friend.” you said.
“Looks like you’re his new friend.” Astarion laughed.
Just then, the bat took off. Meeting another bat in the rafters of the tower. They twirled and swooped around one another hypnotically.
“What possesses them to do such a thing?” Astarion asked as he watched them closely.
You smiled, running a finger over his cheekbone then his jaw. “Protection.” Astarion turned to look at you, “Ensuring those they love are safe.” you kissed his cheek. You hooked your pinky with his while leaning your forehead on his. “We’re safe. This family is safe.” You knew Astarion worried and doubted himself often. You wanted him to know just how truly you felt about him. He’s your everything.
Astarion kissed your lips, “I love you.” he said, barely pulling away.
“I love you.” you said back, kissing him softly over and over again. Astarion settled himself next to you, watching the still night.
“Did you get Scratch a new ball?” you asked, gingerly petting the sleeping dog's head.
Astarion chuckled a bit, “Of course.”

700 Years - Part 2

Masterlist
Warnings: soft Astarion, depression, anxiety, misinterpretation of feelings, angst, reader reverting to old habits, drow twins (precious babies), slight mention of nudity, brief (and I mean BRIEF) steamy stuff, reassurance, fluff
Part 1
------------------
Astarion was right, adjusting to life outside of the hells was proving to be somewhat difficult. Everything had changed, advanced. You felt like a relic, lost in time. You clung to Astarion like a scared child for weeks. You proved to be an elite combatant, a force to truly be reckoned with. You felt your powers come back to you over time. You just wished your mind would catch up. Know that everything is ok. Know that you are your own.
You often spend your nights at the lakeside. Throwing rocks into it every so often to watch the ripples glide over the water. You didn’t expect your feelings to come back so easily, and in full force. In hell, you just turned them off when you weren’t alone. Raphael broke you into complete submission.
“Care for some company?” you heard Astarion say.
You shrugged wordlessly. Astarion noticed your mood declining since you got to camp. You were lost. He did his best to give you space and be there for you, knowing your road was tough, just as his was. You sat in silence for a while before he spoke again.
“I know you’re in great pain, little love, you need not hide it from me.” he scooted closer to you.
You leaned against him, feeling exhausted. Defeated. “I never thought I was going to leave the hells. Now that I have… I’m trying but… I don’t know if I belong up here. Or down there. I’m not sure I belong anywhere.” your voice was full of sadness.
Astarion’s arms engulfed you. You clung to him, holding his arms against your chest. “I’m completely alone in the world and I’m… frightened.” you cried into him.
Astarion took your hands and stood you up, walking you into the shallows of the lake. “Do you ever watch the ripples in the water?” he asked.
You nodded watching as the water splashed around your legs causing the whole lake to ripple.
“See how they unsettle the whole lake, delving it into chaos that will go on until it is brought peace again.” he said, now standing completely still, the lake stilling with him.
“I don’t know if I can bring myself peace.” you looked at the moon's reflection as the water stilled.
Astarion “You can… in time…. Takes a lot of work. But… I’ve got you. I’ll be here for you, whenever you want me.” he said, carding his fingers through your hair causing you to let out a small sigh.
You leaned back, giving him a small smile. You hesitated before softly kissing his cheek. He looked at you with slightly widened eyes.
“You don’t have to do that…” Astarion said. He feared showing any intimate interest in you due to everything you had going on, and yet - his heart felt smothered in honey when he was with you.
Your hand ghosted over where you kissed him, “I know.” you felt bashful. You loved being around Astarion but, as of late, your body grows warm when he is near. Your brain feels overloaded with the urge to kiss him, touch him, love him. Everything about him made you feel better. He made you wonder if you could ever love again, truly love. Everyday you grew more and more convinced. He taught you how to be on your own, not constantly needing him. But now, you just wanted him near always. His presence lighting up your world.
---------------------
The Blushing Mermaid was loud, far louder than you anticipated. It made you wince. Watching men stumble around boorishly and women fawn over each other. It made you smile despite all the noise. Seeing people look happy after so long in a place of unhappiness, it made your heart feel full. Knowing there is always light in the dark.
Astarion had left you in the corner of the room, trying not to overwhelm you. He told you he would only be gone a moment so you sat down and waited for him. The more time ticked on the more anxious you got. Independent or not, you were anxious like this before the hells. You looked around the patrons, spotting the pale elf at the bar top.
Your heart felt uneasy when you looked closer. A beautiful drow woman had draped herself across Astarion. He was indulging her in conversation, even going as far to laugh with her. You couldn’t understand why you were feeling the way you were. Astarion was not yours. He was beautiful and free, just like you. He can choose who he gives his attention to. You tried to reason with yourself. All your brain could seem to logically conclude is that he didn’t want you because you had not lay with him. He was healed and could use his body for himself, and here you were.
You quietly made your way through the crowd, tears falling despite your best efforts to keep them at bay.
--------------------
Astarion wasn’t one to panic easily but right now, his resting heart rate would register as a panic attack. When he returned to your little corner, you were gone. You were without weapons and your armor was in your room when he checked for you back at the Elfsong. He wandered the busy streets of Baldur’s Gate for well over an hour now. He made his way to the Lower City. This area was dangerous before the Absolute and Steel Watchers. It was a cornucopia for crime of all breeds to run amuck.
Astarion sat on a barrel at the front of an alleyway. He ran his hands through his hair and over his face. He was frustrated but beyond that he was scared. You weren’t by any means fragile, but Astarion is the one who brought you out for the night, he felt a sense of responsibility for you and your safety in an unknown place. And now you were missing his worst fear. Astarion continued to wander the city deep into the night. He wandered in and out of taverns and shops trying to spot you. He made his way into Sharess’ Caress, following the twists and turns of the building. He used to hunt here… not for blood but for souls to bring Cazador. Astarion pushed the thought out of his head, refocusing his eyes and scanning the room. He saw a door cracked open in a dark hallway, a bit of light coating the opposite wall. Might as well check, he thought. Inside he found you curled up on a bed. Two similar looking drows sitting near you. The male drow draped a blanket over you; while the female drow gazed upon your face and gently traced your features. Astarion walked in slowly, the drows looking at him.
“So you’re him?” the woman said, a look of disgust gracing her devine features.
“Pardon?” Astarion said, confused.
“The one they cry for.” spoke the male drow.
“How did they get here?” Astarion asked, worried about the answer.
“They walked in, looked lost. We offered them our services but instead they broke down in tears. We thought it best to keep them some place safe lest someone try to take advantage. Baldur’s Gate is not as safe as it once was.” the woman answered.
The conversation was interrupted by you stirring in bed, eyes immediately meeting Astarion’s when they opened. You sat up quietly, the drows quickly excused themselves sensing the tension in the room.
Astarion sat next to you on the bed, “Why did you leave?” he asked, sounding slightly angrier than he meant to.
“I didn’t want to impede your evening.” you said sincerely, and yet a tinge of jealousy was there.
“What are you talking about?” Astarion asked with a huff.
“The drow at the tavern… you two looked… comfortable. I figured I would leave you to it and find my way back to Elfsong. Got a little lost but the twins were very kind to me.” you played with the edges of your sleeves, mumbling your response trying not to sound as pathetic as you felt.
Astarion’s face relaxed with realization, “Darling… I knew that drow from when I was under his power. She would give me peace for a few hours in her room, leaving me to my books and whatever else I wanted to do away from Cazador. She was a good friend to me.”
You felt foolish. He’s not yours. It’s all you could hear. You held your hands over your ears trying to make it all stop. Century after century you felt so numb, and maybe you preferred it that way. This all felt… too much.
You pulled Astarion to you, kissing him. This felt nice, you wanted this but you had to turn your brain off for what you had to do next. You wanted him to want you, so you took the only route you knew. You started trailing kisses down his jaw, his neck, over his chest. While you pulled your shirt off Astarion looked at your face. Your eyes were vacant, like a shark. Your movements looked practiced and forced. You reached a hand to the laces of Astartions pants, his hand grabbing your wrist. You looked up at him with a blank face.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, cocking an eyebrow.
“Can’t” was all he said, standing up and pacing the bedroom a bit. He laughed lightly before looking at you, “I could… but I won't.”
You hugged your shirt to your chest, eyes looking down feeling incredibly exposed. “Why not?”
Astarion kneeled in front of you so he could look into your eyes, his heart cracked seeing tears in them. “Because I know that look. I know you don’t truly want to have sex.”
You closed your eyes, tears flowing over silently. You held your shirt tighter, “I’m sorry.” you whispered.
Astarion’s face was covered with confusion. “Little love, what ever could you be sorry for?”
“That I can’t please you… like that… the way you want.” you shifted to quickly slide your shirt back on.
Astartion breathed out a sigh, he gingerly took your hand, kissing the knuckles. “Darling we could never touch again and I’d still adore you.” he smoothed his thumbs over your knuckles before looking into your eyes. He saw doubt, caution even.
“You are not in the hells, you never have to reduce yourself like this again. You do what you want with your body when you want to. Sex should be mutually pleasurable, and consensual the entire time. Not something you do because you think you should…. Whatever you’re comfortable with is where I will meet you.” Astarion kissed the tear on your cheek.
You instinctively smiled at his kind gesture, knowing no expectations were held behind it. “I’m sorry I left… I want you, Astarion.” you said looking into his eyes, “I want you and it terrifies me. I just had to get away. I know you’re not mine but seeing you with… another. It planted this bitter seed inside me.” An understanding smile fell upon his face, his eyes big and doe like.
“If it’s any consolation… I want you too.” it was your turn to look shocked, you placed a gentle kiss on his lips. Feeling out how the sensation made you feel, truly feel.
“Was that ok?” he asked, caressing your wrist.
You nodded, blushing, “I quite like that.”
Astarion wrapped you in a feather light hug, waiting for you to return it which you instantly did. You two breathed each other in for a moment before Astarion leaned back.
“We should get back to the tavern.” he pecked your forehead.
You hummed in agreement, following him through the city. Fingers laced together.
“Can I stay with you?… I sleep better with you near.” you asked quietly when Astarion walked you to your room.
Astarion smiled, “I’d have it no other way my sweet.”

“Can we talk?” you said, standing in front of Astarion at the campfire.
His face fell and worry settled in his stomach, “Of course.” he said as you two walked to your tent.
“Is something wrong? Did I do something?” he fumbled.
You felt bad making him worry, but this was something that needed to be discussed in private. “Everything is fine my love, you haven’t done anything wrong.” you held his hand.
His eyes watched you intently, trying to figure out what could be going on. You had been together for a while, what could have changed?
“I wanted to ask you something… I just wanted to establish what exactly you are comfortable with so I don’t cross any of your boundaries.” you played with your fingernails, feeling embarrassed despite there being no need.
Astarion held your face, kissing you softly and pulling you close. He smiled at you brightly, “And here I was worried something was wrong.”
“Nothing is wrong with you near.” you kissed his cheek.
“Well… to begin… what are you comfortable with?” he asked you, holding your hands, moving to sit you both down on his bed roll.
“Anything as long as it’s you.” you said confidently.
He looked at you, shocked and confused. “Truly?” he asked.
You nodded your head smiling at him, “I know you love me, I know you’d never want to hurt me…”
“Never.” he said, quickly kissing your knuckles.
“I know that if I don’t like something you’ll stop. So, yes, anything. As long as it’s you.”
Astarion looked into your eyes, nothing but love was reflected in them. You trusted him with you. Your body, your mind, your soul. Everything was his for the taking, nothing asked in return except for knowing he loved you too. Astarion wanted your body, he just didn’t exactly know how. How to love, not just fuck. He dropped his hands to the laces on the front of your shift, pulling them loose gently. He looked at you, waiting for you to stop him. His hands were shaking, he felt like a clumsy virgin.
You took his hands in yours, “Darling, you don’t have to do that. I didn’t talk to you about this to guilt you into sex. I talked to you so I can make you feel comfortable and safe, always.”
“I… do want to.” he paused, searching for the right words. “I just… don’t know how. Sex has always been… a duty. Something I was forced into. I don’t know the difference between fucking and loving.” he felt so disappointed in himself, so stupid.
“Can I show you?” you asked him softly.
Astarion watched you with big eyes, feeling immensely vulnerable. He nodded, whispering, “Yes.”
You slid your shift off. You stood before him completely exposed. You took one of his hands, holding it tightly. “Do you want to touch me?” you asked.
“May I?” he flicked his eyes to yours.
You nodded, smiling at him. Astarion’s shaking hands went to your face, he held you close to him bringing you into a sweet kiss. Your hands rested on his chest. You felt his hands slide down your shoulders, hips, down to your ass where he groped clumsily.
You chuckled slightly, pulling away, playing with the curls at the base of his neck.
“What?” he mumbled.
“You look different.”
“What do you mean?” he said, running his hands curiously up your waist. Fingers ghosting over the sides of your breasts.
You hummed at the sensation of him touching you, body alight with want. “You look curious, like you’ve never been with me.”
“This is different from the clearing…” he said, a bit of hurt flashing across his eyes. As much as you reassured him that you understand why he did that, a part of him would never forgive himself. He used your body for his own gain, caused you the same pain he had felt for years.
You could see him drifting, “That’s not you. This… this is you.” you said holding his hand over your heart while you held yours to his.
Astarion nodded repeatedly before taking his own shirt off. He looked flawless in the moonlight cascading on his skin from the gap in the tent flap. You waited for him to touch you. He took your hand, pulling you into his lap as he sat on his bedroll. He pulled your hips down so you were sitting on him completely. He kissed your neck and chest repeatedly before taking a nipple into his mouth. Your breath caught in your throat as he fondled your other breast. You could feel him beneath you, getting more excited by the second.
“You can touch me too…” Astarion said briefly before switching to your other nipple, ensuring they both got the same delicious treatment. He nipped at you gently, causing you to let out a groan.
You felt him all over, his touch rilling you up even more. Astarion bucked his hips up slightly. You both pulled away, equally surprised by the action. “I… umm… do you… we could…” Astarion stumbled over himself. You had never seen him so… him. His sultry, seductive self was nowhere to be seen. Underneath so much was this soft, kind vampling who cared so deeply about you.
“Do you want to have sex?” you asked him, smoothing your thumbs over his face.
Astarion nodded quickly which made you laugh, “Show me what you like.” you said kissing his cheek.
Astarion shifted slightly, pulling his pants off so you were both bare. He led your hand between his thighs, gasping when you softly started tugging him off. His head fell back, he gripped your thighs tightly. You went on for a minute before he pulled your hand away, breathing heavy. He moved his cock between your folds, both of you moaning at the feeling. He slipped himself inside, groaning loudly at the sensations. He felt positively euphoric, focusing on his own pleasure. You gently started riding him, searching his face for anything that indicated he was uncomfortable. He was letting out the sweetest noises as you picked up speed. He brought his hand to your clit, circling it over and over again while the other played with your tits. Both your pleasure builds intensely. Astarion began meeting the roll of your hips, he was covered in a sheen of sweat. Aching for the release he craved. You kissed his neck, nipping hickies into his pale skin. You came first, fluttering around him. You bit down into his shoulder so you didn’t cry out. You rode him through the overstimulation, determined to make him cum. His breathing became even more erratic, panting out praises. You felt him come undone, his body relaxing beneath you. You waited for a moment, breaths returning to normal.
Astarion kissed up your chest, laying you down with him. He laid on his back and looked at the ceiling. Worry crossed your face, “Are you alright?” your voice wavered.
Astarion smiled at you, “Heavenly… positively heavenly.” His eyes were hazy. He kissed over your face leaving butterfly kisses everywhere. You both laid in the afterglow, whispering words of love and affirmation to one another.
“What?” you could see a question resting on his face. He waved you off dismissively, embarrassed with his question. You insisted, “Pleaseeeeee?”
Astarion chuckled before pulling you into a kiss, “Can we do it again?”
You laughed, rolling him on top of you “Of course.”

UMMMM SO I MET NEIL NEWBON TODAY????? I’m in love ladies and gents, it’s official 💖💖💖

More pictures from Fanexpo this weekend 🤩 still absolutely shocked all this happened in one day. Orin the Red was easily the coolest cosplay I saw. They hand made the entire costume and wore heels the entire day - what a trooper!! R2D2 also gave me a cheeky little whistle while I was in the Star Wars arena. And as always….. Neil 🥰😍
For all asking - yes Neil is as sweet as you’d expect him to be. Incredibly kind and humble. I gave him a ring as a gift and he hit that Astarion voice so fast before asking if I had put a ring on him for good lol the amounts of times I got called darling and love??? Insane. Told him that Astarion’s story had a great effect on me after my own SA. THIS MF - came and gave me the biggest hug before saying he was happy I was alright. He was super funny and has the loveliest laugh.
All around? 10000000/10 day 💖
