Golden Chorale and a Headless Bear (Story Submission)

"So, a few weeks ago was our State competition. On our way home, we all stopped at Golden Chorale to eat and celebrate. One of the kids in my grade, a trumpet, ended up buying a teddy bear from a band aide for $30. In a matter of minutes, the teddy bear had its head sawed off with a steak knife. Our entire table was in a fit of laughter and rumor has it that the teddy bear is still headless today. That story is by far the highlight of the season. 😂"

Thankyou for the submission! That's amazing 😂 Wish stuff like this could happen in my school's band!

Keep sending in stuff guys! It makes my day to hear about your band stories!

I don't know if I'll be allowed to take my flute away with me on a six week trip.

I'm scared, I'll lose the minimal amount of technique I have.

Me? Practicing Two Nights In A Row? It's Less Likely Than You Think, But Hey, I Did It This Week.

Me? Practicing two nights in a row? It's less likely than you think, but hey, I did it this week.

Also, I'm gonna start a practice diary of sorts. The tag is #LilFlutesPracticeDiary because I'm basic asf.

I warmmed up with the b flat major scale, and a 2 line warmup called The Crusaders, then moved on to piece study.

Ok, today's pieces that I'm focusing on are Fever, and Saxes Will Rock! Fever is a well known song (I think?), and a few years ago, we actually had someone sing the song with the band! Saxes Will Rock! is, as the title suggests, a piece that features the saxophone section. In my school's band, the saxes come forward, and make a line at the front, or up on the stage (we perform on the ground half the time), so their part can be projected to the audience more.

I don't use my stand because it's one of those stands.

COMPETITION TIIIME

So, for those of you who don't know, I live in a place thst doesn't have marching band, so I'm in my school's symphonic band. We have about... 35 people in the band? I think?

Our next event is this coming Thursday. The local Eisteddfod. We have a long-standing rivalry with one of the private schools in town, and we plan to kick ass this year, just as we did last year.

I am SO HYPED TO PERFORM!!

My Band Gear!!

Nobody asked for this post, but I wanna show off my minimal gear, so here goes nothing!

My Band Gear!!

Obviously I've got my flute, I can't remember if I named her or not, but I think my friend suggested "Flutesica Tooting" (that, or I saw it on here somewhere). Either way, her name is Flutesica. Say hi to Flutesica! She's a Yamaha 221!

My Band Gear!!

Lil clip-on tuner! It's kinda useless, since I have to play the note, then quickly look to see where I am, if I'm alone. I don't take it to my normal band rehearsals, since the school has a box of tuners that we all share, but it does the job when it's needed. It's great on band camp!

My Band Gear!!

My flute stand! This is the second one I've ever had, I bought it last Saturday. The first one I got on my first High School Band Camp in 2016! The BD bought it for me, I felt very special 😂

If anyone wants to buy it, it's a BG Franck Bichon stand. It cost $14.95 AUD.

My Band Gear!!

My case, and the case's case. Nothing much to say, it holds my cleaning cloth/rod, and polishing cloth.

My Band Gear!!

And last, but not least, my band folder! The piece you see on the front is what I'm performing for a showcase this Friday! I'm so excited!!

And that's all! If you'd like to hear a clip of Shackelford, leave a comment or rb! Thanks for reading!
