To Hell and Back p.1 | Jungkook

Greek mythology!bts / demigod!bts

Inspired by @kimnomster‘s fanart here, here, here, and here

Summary line: Jungkook will literally go to hell and back for you

Red isn’t just the color of blood, it’s the color of wrath. The color of war. It’s the only color Jungkook sees as he stands up from his kneeling position from his last strike down on the enemy. Everything was red: the hills, the fire, the countless bodies and discarded shields and weapons that are stuck in the corpse. Smoke filled the open space all around him, and it felt hotter than the underworld. Actually, that is false, but he wouldn’t know; he’s never been to the underworld, he only sends people there.

All in a day’s work. He tells himself, walking away from the lifeless battlefield. He still sees red. Not just all around him, but on him as well. The blood of his enemies is smeared on his skin, stained on his armor and shield, and the liquid is still hot at the tip of his spear. And despite the last 72 hours he spent coursing through the field, twisting his spear into the bellies of every warrior, blood lust still coursed through his veins.

Don’t get him wrong. He never starts anything, but at any fight he’s involved in, you can be sure he’s the one to finish them. The blood lust, the never-ending hunger to see his favorite color, that’s all in his blood; that’s what you get for being the son of Ares.

It’s no secret that Jungkook despises mere mortals. Mere mortals engage in epic battles, but for what?  Pathetic and absurd reasons to the eyes of Jungkook. For glory and honor? You can’t take it with you. For land and assets? You will never stop fighting to retain it in your possession. For a woman Aphrodite claims was the most beautiful woman in the world? Eh, to Jungkook she was only an 8.

That’s why he finishes every battle, they were all useless and troublesome, they might as well end. Ares tells him of what battle must come to an end and Jungkook is the first of his children to strap on his armor. He was a conflicting man.

He loved the battlefield, he loved the blood. But he hated the stupidity involved and couldn’t wait for it to end. Every man he fought was not up to par. In the heat of battle, most men tend to forget common sense and lash out aggressively without tact. He could see the fear in many of the young pairs of eyes, but he only thought, if you didn’t want to be here, you should just stay home.

Give him a good reason to fight, a smart man to oppose, that’s when he feels like there’s something to fight for. But don’t you ever tell him he’s irrational in his pickiness, it’ll be the last words you’ll ever say.

Lucky for the both of you, you have better sense than that. You are his one and only solace from the battlefield. It’s only when he’s with you, does his blood lust give out. It was really a rare sight to see; almost no one can live to tell the tale of how Jungkook’s tense muscles relax only when you’re around.

You were a smart woman, Jungkook would have pegged you as Athena’s daughter, if it wasn’t for Zeus’ claim on you the day you were born. Your eyes held intuition and your lips only poured words of wisdom of strategy. Maybe Jungkook would like to check on that paternity test; or maybe a maternity test to double check your relations with Athena because your mother may not really be who she says she is, who knows? Zeus is pretty loose about where he chooses to strike his lightning bolts.

But by the looks of Athena’s strict stone eyes, the only close physical contact Zeus would ever get to have with Athena is when she came out from his head. But Athena also saw the resemblance in you. She usually chooses warriors to patron, but you happen to be one of the fair few women she claims under her wings as an apprentice.

Jungkook has finally returned home. His feet would be sorer from the walk home if he wasn’t already used to it; his skin is too thick to feel pain. But any possibility of pain is forgotten. His senses are on alert, because it took him a split second to see you weren’t home. Chairs overturned, tables shifted from its spot. The pot your lovely fern you’ve spent 4 months cultivating in is shattered into pieces.

Jungkook senses no need to draw his sword; he already knows no one’s here. But he does so anyway because his blood is boiling at the mere thought of how you, a peaceful strategist, would ever have to fight your way out of someone’s arms in the comfort of your own home.

Your name thunders from the confines of the walls of your home, out from the open windows, and frightening the sheep into frenzy out in the neighboring field. He steps out of the house, his head whipping back and forth to find any living creature to slice his sword through.

In 20 seconds, every sheep’s white wool is stained in red and he mindlessly drops his bag of gold coins on the field to reimburse the owner threefold.

He stalks off in search of watchful eyes.

“Argos!” Jungkook’s roar shakes the cave of where the giant resides.

“Jungkook.” Argos reveals himself from behind a bed of rocks. At the tone of Argos’ voice, Jungkook’s eyes have already narrowed.

“You sound surprised that I am here.” He says with clenched teeth.

“Yes, I’m quite surprised that I’m surprised. But not very surprised, seeing how I have just awoken, so it makes sense.”

“You have four eyes, they are never closed at the same time. Not since the incident with Io.”

“You’re right. Huh, surprising, isn’t it?”

“Stop saying that!” Jungkook’s fury is quickly ripping through the seams of his patience.

“I don’t know where she is. I don’t know who’s taken her. There’s no use in killing me.” The giant attempts to persuade Jungkook as he cautiously taps Jungkook’s spear point down from the perfect killing strike.

“But I do see something. You were probably too busy slicing sheep to notice.” It must be something you left.

“You better talk fast.” Jungkook said, his strength rising above the giant’s finger on his spear.

“Your poor neighboring shepherd is sobbing while he’s collecting your coins, by the way.”

“The point.” Jungkook raised his voice as does his spear, making his own point.

“Under the shattered pottery, lies a sign in the dirt.”

“What’s the sign?”

“Half of a caduceus.”

It would make sense. Hermes was the one who first and only one who has charmed Argos’ eyes to close when freeing Io. But from the information he currently has on Hermes, he’s too busy guiding a man across an ocean. Hermes may be a trickster and easily bored most of the time, but there really is no rhyme or reason as to why he would choose to kidnap you. It’s not Hermes, then who? Half a caduceus could possibly mean you didn’t have the time to finish the second half, seeing how you were too busy trying to fend for yourself. But you were a quick artist, one of the many gifts bestowed on you by Athena.

He had left Argos’ mountain, to sought after Athena, to see if she knew anything about her missing apprentice.

But by his fifth step, his legs gave out and his eyes weighed heavier than any shield he’s ever held. He drifted off.

Jungkook stood in the middle of your home. How did he get here? Where were you? That’s right. You’ve been kidnapped. Jungkook let out a frustrated yell. What is going on?!

“Stop yelling. I’m here to help, damn you.” Jungkook’s head whipped at the sound of a slow and raspy voice. He saw Yoongi in his shimmering white cloak that looked as evanescent as smoke, but as graceful as a feather. Yoongi had a silver laurel that sat above his blond hair which its bangs were low and nearly covering Yoongi’s sleepy eyes. At the presence of Yoongi, he knows he’s dreaming.

“Where did she go, hyung?” Jungkook’s voice raised. Yoongi only closed his eyes and exhaled loudly, trying to calm down.

“I’m serious, if your voice is any louder than 60 decibels, I’m out.” Yoongi opened his eyes and glared. Jungkook maybe a wrathful demigod, but even Yoongi’s glare can give Jungkook’s own glare a run for his money.

“I’m sorry. What are we doing here?”

“Look at the sign she left for you.” Yoongi nodded over to the broken pottery and dirt. Jungkook walked over and squatted down to inspect it. By first glance, it really did just look like a mess. Jungkook moved away the pieces, careful not to ruin your work to see exactly as Argos said: half a caduceus.

“What am I looking for?” Yoongi rolled his eyes and walked over to his young friend.

“Why do you think she only drew half a caduceus? What is her point?” Jungkook attempted to keep his patience, but Yoongi spoke in riddles, and your drawing was no help to that. But at the thought of you, at the thought of your hard work, he was willing to think it through.

“Half of Hermes. The person who took her is a demigod.” Jungkook realized.

“Correct. Now, what demigod of Hermes do we actually know who would have any rhyme or reason to kidnap her?” Jungkook looked at Yoongi and breathed, “Jimin.”

“Hoseok told me that Jimin hid her in the underworld. Jimin had bribed Hoseok with fifteen thieving souls in exchange to conceal her whereabouts.” Yoongi finally gave Jungkook the first good news he’s heard all day. It slightly calmed him down although not really, because you’re now in the goddamn underworld.

“Why would Hoseok tell you this?” Jungkook asked him.

“Hoseok hasn’t been getting much good sleep lately. The souls of the underworld give him more of a headache than he’s willing to mention to his father. He asked for at least a week’s worth of beautiful dreams in exchange, some information. She’s a nice girl, I’d hate to see her stay too long in the underworld, you know? The longer you stay down there, the more your soul wears out. She may be a daughter of Zeus, but she is a mortal offspring, unlike us.” Jungkook shook his head of the idea you are just lying in the pits of the underworld, having your soul slowly give out as the rest of the wandering souls attempt to have you join them. Jimin has taken it too far.

“What should I do now? How do I get down there?” Yoongi shrugs at Jungkook’s questions.

“I don’t know. I’ve helped you this far. Your turn.” And with that, Yoongi disappeared and Jungkook woke up, still five steps away from the bottom of Argos’ mountain.

“Taehyung!” Jungkook ran to find his friend in the Apollo temple. Taehyung is easy to spot, even if he didn’t turn around. Taehyung’s collar and sandal wraps glowed an orange-yellowish hue, making him recognizable even in the darkest moments.

“Hey there, Jungkook! Wow, you look awful.” Taehyung looked at his friend who still hasn’t washed away the old blood from his most recent war.

Taehyung is quite the jubilant demigod, even if he is the keeper of plagues. He enjoyed coming up with songs about sickness and wrote requiems for every epidemic. He was a very contradicting man, but that’s one of the many reasons he and Jungkook got along so well. But as much as he got along with Jungkook, he was also on great terms with Jimin.

“Taehyung, you have to help me. Jimin kidnapped Y/N and now she’s confined in the underworld.”

“Jimin? I just saw the guy two days ago. He asked to borrow my cloak of concealment I got from my dad.” Two days? Two days?! Is that how long he had you in the underworld? Mere mortals can only last 36 hours. Lucky for you, your half-divine bloodline status bought you an extra 60 hours from that.

“Do you have any ambrosia?” Jungkook asked quickly.

“I don’t, but my half-brother does. He’s around here somewhere, I’ll go ask him.” Taehyung rushed away in search for his half-brother.

“Jimin, when I get my hands on you…” Jungkook’s fist clenched, drawing blood in his own hands. If he didn’t see red in the next second, he might have to offer a couple thousand sacrifices to Apollo for shedding the innocent blood of the nearby worshipers in Apollo’s temple.

The Struggle is Real p.1

The request: p.1 and 2

Summary line: The struggle between the group’s rivalry isn’t the problem, the love is.

Jungkook snickers at Jimin when he asks for Yoongi to pass him a new sheet of parchment paper. The “sheet of parchment paper” is emphasized with a lot of saliva in the mouth. Ever since last night, after the picking of mandrake leaves, the boys have to hold the leaf in their mouth for a whole mouth, so the leaf can soak up the DNA of the owner, before the brewing of the animagus potion.

It’s not that they can’t speak, eat, or drink, but everything is definitely a lot more difficult. Everyone already sounds like they’re wearing a retainer 24/7, but Jimin and Yoongi already have a natural lisp to their speech. The only difference between Jimin and Yoongi is that everyone is readily able to tease him rather than the mint hair-colored Slytherin; it’s practically legend that says that anyone who teases Yoongi will experience 3 years of bad luck.

“Oh, what we have here?” at the sound of a feminine voice, the three boys turn to look up at another trio.

The Gryffindor girl bends down to Jimin’s eye level and grab his jaw, making him to drop his jaw.

“Hey!” Yoongi quickly grabs the Gryffindor girl’s hand and wretches it away from his friend. Jungkook stands up.

“What do you think you’re doing, Wren?” Yoongi practically hisses at the Gryffindor fifth year. She shrugs with a smirk as she straightens herself up.

“Animagus potion?” the Ravenclaw fifth year speaks up. The three boys widen their eyes and look at her. She already caught the green in his mouth.

“Come on guys. You have freaking mandrake leaves in your mouths. You’re not exactly discreet. Thought you guys are smarter than that.”

“It’s none of your business, Vanessa.” Yoongi glares at the Ravenclaw.

“No, of course it’s not our business. But I wonder, what animals they’ll become?” Wren laughs.

“Let me see,” the Slytherin girl speaks up, tapping her chin, before pointing at Yoongi, Jimin, and Jungkook, “I bet it’s a snail, a warthog, and a pig.” The girls laugh at the Slytherin’s prediction.

Jungkook rolls his eyes, “No one asked you, Arabella.”

“Oh hush child, you know you want to know. I’m giving you an upperclassman’s well-seasoned opinion. It takes so long to wait for the right timing to do this transfiguration. Anticipating the right storm takes rare patience.”

“Have you tried?” Jimin asked curiously.

“Don’t have to. Just listen in class and you know the difficulty.” Vanessa shrugs. Yoongi rolls his eyes.

If it’s fate, it’s the worst kind. Of all the fifth years, these girls stand out the most to the boys. These three girls are the top of the class in their fifth year, one year ahead of the boys. In the fifth year students, these girls are practically worshipped like idols for their legacy of brains and beauty. It shouldn’t be any of the boy’s concerns, but they have a bone to pick with the trio.

Vanessa Larkson is a Ravenclaw, the smartest of any student of any house in her year and above.  The only reason she can’t say in the whole school is because Namjoon is strongly competing on that title for those in his year and younger. To the boys, she’s obnoxiously proud of her own achievements, but the rest of the school doesn’t see it because they’re too busy fawning over her beauty. Jimin used to have a crush on her, but that disappeared when Namjoon came into the Great Hall in their second year, blowing up about a debate he had in class with her. Since Namjoon was so heated about it, Jimin decided bros before hoes. It’s been two years since then and Jimin’s tiny crush has been well buried and inactive.

Wren Nazario is a Gryffindor, and she’s quite the firecracker. She’s also a Gryffindor chaser. She drives Yoongi insane on the Quidditch field because when he’s against Gryffindor, she’s one of the stronger chasers on the field, making him break sweat and he’s not even a chaser! Because of her, his Quidditch captain trains them longer and harder more than any other team, even on rainy days, and those are the worst. His captain actually has an insane crush on her, but she always rejects him, which makes him let it out on his team. Yoongi hates it when his captain is like this, but he blames Wren even more, because if wasn’t for her, his captain could be an okay guy.

Arabella Timberlake is a Slytherin and actually a part of the Quidditch team with Yoongi. Yoongi recognizes that she’s the strongest player on their team, and because she’s actually Wren’s friend, she’s not afraid of the competition. Yoongi doesn’t have a serious problem with her, but Jungkook does. Out of all the boys, Jungkook has the boldest competitive streak. At first, he thought his friendly competition is with Yoongi, seeing how they’re both the seekers on their respective teams, but no. Jungkook has caught the snitch a fair amount of times, but because Arabella actually scores so much, she can single-handedly beat his 150 points. It’s so rare in Quidditch history, let alone their own school. He once came up to her just to tell her good game, what she said was, “Mhm. Thanks.” And that was the end of his admiration.

The girls laugh and go on their way, making the boys sulk.

“Do you think they’ll tell Professor McGonagall?” Jimin asks. Last time, the fight that he got into in his third year at Hogsmeade was ratted out by the Slytherins that he and his friends beat. His parents were so mad at him. They couldn’t give him a howler because they’re both muggles, but he got it bad when he got home. He doesn’t regret it, because he’s gained a really strong friendship with Yoongi, but he still would rather not get in trouble from his parents like that that anymore.

“Don’t worry about that right now. You have a game today! Against Ravenclaw, and Vanessa isn’t even on the team. So she’s none of your concern.”

“I’m only a beater. Not like I contribute to points.” Jimin automatically felt the weight of another body on top of him.

“Hey I’m a beater too! What are you trying to say? Put some pride in that. Remember how you saved one of your teammates from a bludger?” Jimin looks up at Taehyung, his closest friend of all the boys.

“That’s because you hit that bludger towards her.” Jimin glares.

“I thought we’re over that. I apologized remember? And you became a star in your own house.”

“That’s right. Remember all your fangirls? Every Hufflepuff girl sent him fanmail that night.” Hoseok wiggles his eyebrows, ratting out his fellow housemate.

“Ugh. That was a nightmare.” Jimin buries his face in his hands, blushing.

“Are you kidding? Who doesn’t want fangirls?” Namjoon plops down on the table across from Jimin.

“It’s not that, but think if you have to reject over 70 girls in the same house as you. Seriously, think about it.” The boys were silent before met with shivers.

“Oh, the pain!” Hoseok clutches his chest like his heart hurts at the mere thought of a girl crying for him.

“You did your best. They at least still talk to you.”

“Yeah, but there’s still some who consider me dead to them now.” Jimin mumbles. The boys look at each other. Jimin is one of the sweetest boys in their group, none of them can really stand it when he’s upset, more so than any other.

“It doesn’t matter. Be yourself, and they’ll see that it’s a loss that they don’t even have you exist in their world. You’re worth isn’t based on whether they think of you anyway.” Seokjin ruffles Jimin’s hair. Jimin nods and pats his hair down.

“Jimin! Jungkook! Hoseok!” They look up to see their Quidditch captain calling them from the Great Hall entrance.

“Here we go.” Jungkook stands up and so does Jimin, to join Hoseok who’s already up.

“Good luck guys, don’t lose your leaf!”

Wooshing sounds hit Jungkook’s ears as the game goes on. He’s perched high above the Quidditch pitch to make way for the rest of the team below. Right now, it’s 70/60, Ravenclaw’s lead.  The game has been over an hour now. Jungkook’s eyes dart all over the place to search for the snitch. Finally he sees it. The Ravenclaw is just a second later than Jungkook, but that’s all he needs. Jungkook leans forward and speeds off as fast as he can with the Ravenclaw at his tail. The Ravenclaw team may be more in points, but Jungkook will be damned if he allows them to win.

Jimin sees that Jungkook has finally put into action, he figures that his friend sees the snitch. Jimin aggressively smacks a nearby flying bludger away from him, that amazingly knocks the quaffle out of a Ravenclaw chaser’s hands and it falls into the hands of Hoseok who speeds the other way. The crowd is wild for Jimin. He grins and waves towards the crowd. No one can know that it was a happy accident.

Jungkook dips lower to follow the snitch, and by now the Ravenclaw has caught up to his side. The snitch is within a 10 foot radius, Jungkook starts to knock sideways at the Ravenclaw.

The Ravenclaw seeker however, is no longer paying attention to the snitch. Above, Jimin is currently waving to the crowd who’s going nuts over his latest achievement. Before Jungkook realizes it, the Ravenclaw pulls up in the air.

Jungkook glances up for a second to see the Ravenclaw give up on the snitch, but it’s no longer his concern, the snitch is.

Just a little closer. Jungkook presses his body against the broom and it quickens, just enough for him to reach out and…

The moment the snitch is in his hands, he yells in victory. But that’s the same moment the crowd gasps, not out of Jungkook’s victory, but out of horror. Jungkook looks up and sees someone in yellow robes falling of his broom. It’s Jimin!

Jungkook’s instincts kick in and he zooms to catch his friend. Jimin is almost a quarter of the pitch away from him. Jungkook lets go of the snitch and reaches for his friend. But what he caught was his robes.

The quick tug of Jimin’s Quidditch robes helps break Jimin’s fall, but not enough because Jimin slips out and makes the rest of his way down.

Jimin takes a deep breath and feels pain. He winces and starts to hear voices.

“He’s awake!” He hears. Jimin’s eyes flutter open and he sees six horribly worried faces.

“You’re alive!” Jimin coughs at the instant weight of Taehyung hugging his body and he yelps.

“Get off of him! He’s in pain!” Namjoon pulls Taehyung back.

“Madam Pomfrey says you’ll be bedridden for a week.” Yoongi informs Jimin. Jimin looks down to see him laying in an infirmary bed. He feels like he can’t move his limbs.

“Jimin, I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” Jungkook is practically choking back tears and Jimin automatically reaches out for him, despite the pain.

“W-What are you talking about? If it wasn’t you, I’m sure I’d be in worse place right now. Don’t feel bad. And besides,” he sticks his tongue out to show the mandrake leaf, “I still have my leaf.”

“See, I told you he won’t blame you, Jungkook.” Hoseok pats Jungkook on the back.

“But there is someone we do have to blame.” A scary silence falls on the boys and Jimin looks around to see hardened glares.

“There’s a bed in St. Mungo’s that has Coleman’s name permanently carved into it.” Seokjin’s voice is so low, they almost can’t hear him.

“Guys…” Jimin says, trying to break the trance out of the boys, “It’s a game. Things like these happen.”

“No, they don’t, Jimin. They really fucking don’t.” Yoongi can’t wipe the glare off his face when he looks at Jimin.

“Please don’t do anything. It’s not right.”

“An eye for an eye, Jimin.”

“What about ‘don’t do to others as they do to you’? Guys really. Knowing your lengths, you could end up in Azkaban. I would really like to keep my friends, thank you very much. Really. Let this go. I’m not dead. I’m not even paralyzed. Jungkook saved my life by saving me half that drop.”

Jimin took an hour to convince the boys to drop it by dropping the subject itself. By the time it was dinner, the boys really didn’t want to go, but Jimin convinces them to sneak dinner food to him. And all of them have to give him something.

“You’re too good of a guy, Jimin.” Hoseok mumbles before they leave.

The moment the boys are out of sight, Jimin closes his eyes and groans for the rest of his body.

“Here. This will help.” Jimin gasps in surprise because he didn’t expect anyone here, let alone Vanessa Larkson.

A/N: New Hogwarts AU! Set in the same universe as all of my Hogwarts AU. This scenario ties in with the happenings of the fourth year I wrote for them. The way I will do this is a two-part scenario series/fanfiction for each of the three members Jimin, Yoongi, and Jungkook. All in all, there are six scenarios.

This took me so long because I had to map out a plot. I think I’ve gotten most of it, but we’ll see how this goes.

Happy Halloween!

To Marauders anon: You thought I forgot about you didn’t you? lol, i’m sorry it took me so long! But as promised, before the end of October..at least for America… :) I really hope you like it!

The Impossible Order | Ch. 1

Summary line: Mr. Min is a stoic boss who will never outwardly show appreciation for you. Not until you’re gone does he recognize how much you do. And what you do matters to him.

ceo!Yoongi | best.friend!Hoseok | romance, fluff, angst, and stuff

Your brisk walk will only take you so far in these heels that you’ve been in for half the day now. It’s time I replace these heel cushions. You think to yourself as you wince every other step you take.

Mr. Min’s meeting with the Princess of Bhutan, your most high-profile client the company, is starting in 15 minutes. And he is always ten minutes early. Which means you have to already be there. Documents displayed, projector and presentation ready, steaming coffee in hand. Normally you’re already there 20 minutes early, however today, the copy machine was jammed, and someone didn’t refill copy paper. Really? Of all days…

You burst through the meeting room doors with a pretty wide swing. You quickly put everything down and got to work on turning on the projector and getting the presentation ready. Damn it. This computer is supposed to be on sleep, not completely off. You groan when you turn on the computer and see the updating circle spinning.

While it updates, you walk over to the documents to display it the way Mr. Min wants it. All pages there.

Damn.

Due to the jammed copy machine, the first three papers had a little ink smudge on the bottom left corner. You rush to the computer to see that it had finished updating and the home login screen is waiting for you. You type in the login password and groan at the login circle entering the account. The moment the desktop showed, you rush to open the USB file and print out the first three pages again. Now, it is just the matter of grabbing the paper from copier.

As soon as you open the PowerPoint file, you start walking to the entrance but see the shadow of your boss behind the frosted glass. You nearly trip, from physical instincts over conscious recognition, to grab his coffee on the table and straighten up the moment he walks in.

Ever the dramatic and yet so stoic, Mr. Min makes a double door entrance into the meeting and first sees you, standing straight with a gentle smile on your face and coffee in hand. Luckily, of all things going wrong, his coffee is still steaming.

As he walks towards you, he notices the presentation file is up, but not in slideshow mode. His documents are displayed well, but the left side seems to have less papers than the right.

“Good morning, Mr. Min. The copy machine was jammed this morning, so I’m printing out the first three pages again, so they still look clean and crisp.” You say as you hand him his coffee. Without looking at you, he grabs his coffee and takes his sip while he stands there and look over to the empty space where the documents are missing. He grunts in acknowledgement.

You nod your head and go on your way to the copier. Your gentle smile slowly fades each step you take away from him.

“Well, since we agree with the current stage of the design, we will move forward with creating the final product. It will take 2 weeks to finish the final product. It will take 3 days to assemble the parts, but the special silver and ceramic piece takes a week and a half to mold and take shape.” Mr. Min explains.

The client looks over the design on the paper in front of her and smiles, “I’m looking forward to coming back and seeing the results. My mother’s Silver Jubilee is coming up the night of. I hope everything works out the way your designer envisions.” The client nods over at Seokjin, the designer of the jewelry.

“I assure you; I will be following this Jubilee project very closely. I will be supervising every step.” Seokjin smiles.

“Good.” She gets up as does everyone else in the room. Mr. Min and Seokjin both outstretch their arm to kiss the hand of the princess before she leaves. After the princess and her entourage leave the room, Seokjin and Mr. Min finally relax their movements. Seokjin helps you by gathering his documents and handing it to you before stuffing his hands in his pockets and walk to Mr. Min, “Hey Yoongi, I’m meeting Namjoon for lunch at Sushi Palace. Want to join?”

“Yeah, sure,” Mr. Min turns to you with his finger up, “Y/N, what time is our afternoon meeting?”

“2:15pm, sir.” You reply, phone in hand, ready to show him his schedule.

“Mm. Push it to 2:45.”

“Yes, sir.”

Seokjin smiles at you before leaving the room with Mr. Min. You let out a breath of relief and type into the team chat who have a meeting with Mr. Min. Meeting has been pushed to 2:45pm. You instantly see a lot of relieved reactions and hearts. You chuckle before gathering the remnant documents of the meeting that just took place and turning off the presentation.

That gives you more time for lunch too.

~•~

“So, how ‘bout it, Yoongs?” Seokjin claps the back of his friend after he swallows his sushi, “The Princess of Bhutan? Hand-delivering an invitation to the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. That’s about as subtle as a princess can be in showing interest.”

“A princess? Wow, but you’re so stoic.” Namjoon comments. Yoongi just side glances him as he takes a sip of his tea.

“Thanks for that. But regardless, I’m not interested.” Yoongi thinks about the invitation still in his inside coat pocket. Right after the meeting, as Yoongi and Seokjin left the company’s front doors, the princess was waiting by her car standing right outside the curb. It was shocking for Yoongi, but he always maintains a cool composure wherever. He graciously thanked the princess and helped her into her car.

“Why not? She’s pretty, sophisticated, filial, wise, and kind. She’s got everything, really.” Seokjin checks off as if he imagines her as his ideal woman.

“If I could transfer the invitation, I would. Then you can take her.” Yoongi remarks, putting down his tea to take up the chopsticks for another sushi.

“Don’t need to. I’m already going. As the designer of the Queen’s Jubilee present from her daughter, I already get an invite. But mine was delivered through mail.” Seokjin reminding Yoongi about the hand-delivered invite from the princess.

“She only invited me. She didn’t even request that I escort her anyway. You guys think too much.” Yoongi shrugs off Namjoon’s arm around his shoulder. Namjoon puts it back anyway, “But you have to understand the implications. She really wants you there. Imagine the night of the celebration, she will be hunting you down in that ballroom.”

Yoongi’s phone rings and he takes it out of his pocket to look at the caller ID, you. Saved by the bell.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Mr. Min. Sorry to disturb you, but I needed to remind you that it is already 2:00pm. Before you meet with the JP team, you and Seokjin have to look over the previous meeting highlights.” Without another word, he hangs up and grabs his coat from the chair.

“Let’s go, Seokjin.” Yoongi leaves without another word and Seokjin pats Namjoon’s shoulder before he leaves, “This one’s on you, thanks!”

“Next one is on Yoongi!” Namjoon shouts back to the disappearing figures.

~•~

“So, the princess actually decided she likes the tourmaline and topaz rather than the peach jade and emerald. And she’s also chosen the engraving on the titanium plating.” Seokjin relays the decisions made with the princess to the JP team.

“Ok. So, the production time will take a little longer. We’re recently in high demand of tourmaline, so we’re running out of supply. We’re down to 300 ct. If it weren’t for the heavy amounts for the projects we have, we’d normally do fine. Our supplier will give us the turnaround time by tomorrow.”

“Do we have enough to get started on this project though? We can pause the other tourmaline projects for two weeks?” Mr. Min inquires.

“We do, but if we pause the other projects, it may be more than two weeks. The fastest turnaround time our supplier normally gives us is a month for 500 ct of tourmaline.”

“Any other high-profile clients we’re currently working with who is using tourmaline for their product?”

“Four others. We’re working with the artist Kim Taehyung. He is having his newest art unveiling at the end of this month and he’s working with Jimin to have him create the jeweled frame for his piece. Your father is currently requesting something made for your parent’s anniversary next month. Beyoncé will be meeting with us next week to go over her pieces she’s wearing for the Met Gala coming up the end of next month. And I believe Yoo Jae Suk just reached out to us for a Running Man anniversary gift he’s giving to his coworkers. In his initial inquiry, he’s already thought of using tourmaline. The anniversary is the beginning of next month.”

Mr. Min curses below his breath. Kim Taehyung not only is a high-profile, as well as elusive artist, he’s also a close friend of his other designer, and friend, Jimin. He can talk to his dad about changing tourmaline into something else for the anniversary gift. Yoo Jae Suk only initially reached out. He can have Seokjin create some other designs, no tourmaline required, and maybe some of them can spark Yoo Jae Suk’s interest. Beyoncé and Kim Taehyung are probably the two who will have a harder time going over this issue with.

“Y/N,” You look up from your computer as you’re typing the meeting minutes, “We need a few more ethically-sourced tourmaline suppliers. Reach out to 10 of them and see how much tourmaline we can get by a week and a half. I need their answers by 4pm.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.”

“Ok. For now, let’s move forward with Jubilee for now. It’s the one with the most time constraint. You said 300 ct. How much is required to make the Jubilee?”

“275 ct. We’ll have just enough.”

“Ok. Move forward. We’ll cut it close, but we can do this. Pause the production of our current stock products that deal with tourmaline for now. They will have to be backordered until the end of next month. Y/N, speak with marketing and PR and get me their decision on how to appease our other tourmaline customers for now I need that by 4pm as well.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.”

You glance at your watch. Sigh…it’s 3:35. You quickly pull up the chat box for you and the PR and marketing team.

~•~

At the end of the meeting, you rushed to get the list of ethical suppliers from the sourcing team. You got the list and quickly drafted the inquiry for the suppliers. Depending on the time zones of different suppliers, you had to call, fax, email, and any other way you can to get a hold of the suppliers and make sure to get their attention so they can reply to you before 4pm your time. You messaged both PR and marketing about the current tourmaline crisis. The marketing director and PR manager will have a meeting right now and give you their final decision by 3:55pm as well.

You let out of breath of frustration as Mr. Min messaged you, telling you to get him another cup of coffee. You’re on the phone with another supplier.

It’s 3:54pm now. Marketing and PR haven’t messaged you back and 7 suppliers have given you their answer so far. All 7 suppliers can only provide less than 100 ct for now. Well, that’s why they’re not the main supplier for tourmaline.

As you leave the kitchen, you get fax from the 10th supplier on the list. They can deliver 200 ct! And by next week. Score.

You smile at the good news and grab the fax to look over their quote. A little high, but it is worth it during this time.

Marketing finally messaged you back. 3:57pm.

~•~

You knock on the door to Mr. Min’s office and you hear his faint words to grant you entrance.

You walk in with good news and steaming coffee, “8 suppliers replied back so far. Hestia Sourcing is the only one with the more than 200 ct to deliver by next week. Everyone else is less than 100 ct. PR has indicated that staying quiet about the tourmaline crisis to our customers is vital, but for right now, marketing is promoting the sourcing suppliers and material and we maintain the angle of ethical sourcing. For anyone who is ordering tourmaline at this time, we’ll let them know there’s currently a backorder on them, and as a complimentary gift for their patience on tourmaline, they will receive 50% off on their next purchase as well as the VIP customer gift we send out for our company anniversary coming up in September.”

He takes the coffee from you, “What happened to the remaining two suppliers? I wanted to know about all ten of them.” You press down the bubbling fire within you, “Those remaining suppliers are in Peru and it’s currently 2am…as ethical sources, they’re likely letting their employees sleep.” You reminded him. He only grunts.

“Can you contact Jimin? Let him know of the current crisis and we might need to change tourmaline into zultanite. Check in with Beyoncé’s designer. See if tourmaline can switch out tourmaline and give alexandrite instead. Have the designer contact Beyoncé’s assistant as well to sell the alexandrite. I’ll have dinner with my father and mother tonight. I’ll find a chance to speak to my father about the tourmaline. And before Yoo Jae Suk meets with Seokjin, we’ll have Seokjin create some other pieces without tourmaline.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.”

“And, Y/N?”

“Yes, Mr. Min?”

“Another, please.” Yoongi raised his cup to you again. You do your best to hide your large intake of breath before smiling to take the cup. If he finished the cup so quick and wants another after 4pm, you shouldn’t be expecting to get off work until past 9pm tonight.

“What time is your dinner with your parents?” You asked, hinting that he shouldn’t leave so late tonight.

“7pm. I’ll leave here at 6:45pm. For the Peruvian tourmaline suppliers, contact them when they open. I want an answer tonight before we move any further with Hestia Sourcing.” Peruvian suppliers open at 9am…yup, my job’s not over until after 11pm…

“Yes, Mr. Min.”

~•~

You sigh in relief as you finally close the door to your home and take off your heels. You lean against the wall to rub your feet for a minute before moving to the living room to drop everything and lay down.

You stayed past 9pm in the office to draft the letters to Beyoncé’s assistant and edited the draft the PR manager sent you regarding the letter of apology to give to tourmaline customers. You’ve already spoken with Jimin about the Kim Taehyung frame. Mr. Min wants you to contact the suppliers, but you can do that in the comfort of your own home.

Your dog comes over to lick your hand and bark at you. You lazily turn over to smile and pet your dog.

“Hi, Yeontan. Did you keep home secure today?” He yips at you and his fluffy butt twitches in excitement to see you home, “Did I leave enough food in your meal container?” Yip.

You lift your head to glance up to his meal bowl. It’s connected to a dog food storage that is timed to release a certain amount of food at his designated lunch and dinner times. Empty.

“Oh, baby, I’m so sorry.” You roll off the couch and walk over to refill it right now. Yeontan follows your steps, excited to think of the food he’s expecting.

As you pour his food, you’re reminded that you haven’t eaten dinner either. He immediately chows down to the overdue-released food. You open the fridge to see it well-stocked, but it all takes time to cook. Right now, you just want to lay down. You groan and rest your head on the door of the fridge. At the same time, the doorbell rings.

You go to turn on the security camera to see who’s at the door. You see a familiar head way too close to the camera, smiling at you in the way that will show his dimples. You chuckle before pressing the unlock button for your guest to come in.

“Y/N!” Hoseok greets you and lifts his bag to show you the food delivery.

“Life saver!” You cry, reaching out towards him. He opens his arms for a hug, but you reach out for the food and grabs it instead.

“Oh, wow. Fine. I see how it is. Your food is more important than your best friend. I see how it is. I thought we were like this, Y/N.” He locks his middle and index fingers together and curls them to show his meaning.

“Right now, yeah. Sorry, bruh.” You quickly move to the living room to sit down and open the bag to bring the food out.

“Damn.” He clutches his heart in dramatic pain, “And to think, how much I cherish our friendship. I went to get you your favorite food before it closed. You left work hella late; it would have closed a whole hour before you got out. Just imagine. Me. In the pouring rain. Personally, pounding the restaurant doors late at night. Now, hand-delivering the food to you. And I can’t even get a hug.”

“Oh my God. Chill out. It’s not even raining,” you laugh, “And knowing you, you just ordered delivery for yourself and left me some.”

“Hey, that’s not true. I ordered a whole thing for you. But I did eat my own stuff first,” he took his shoes off before coming over to sit next to you, “I had that ordered at 7. When did you leave work? Probably past 9.”

“Yeah, I literally just got back.” You lifted some of your food in your chopsticks and fed him a piece of your food.

“Mmm. Nom, nom, nom.” he chews annoyingly in your ear.

“Ew, get away from me.” He laughs and hugs your waist halfway as he leans back into the couch while you’re still hunched over your food, pushing him away from your ear.

“How’s your day?” You ask, focused on your food.

“Pretty good. We’re working on the last section of the dance right now. I had to replace one of the girls, Anna, with Christie since Anna just sprained her ankle.” You made an o face before grabbing your next piece to feed him, “How long till Anna is ok?”

“Three weeks. Past the performance, for sure. Poor thing was crying while she watched us practice on the sidelines.”

“She’s only a sophomore, she’ll be fine.”

“Heartless. Do you know in my occupation, each performance is a portfolio piece? And recruiters start scouting in her year.”

“She’s in a prestigious dance college. This is not the only performance this year, nor is it the biggest.”

“Each one counts.”

“Okay.” You shrug. He lifts himself up to give you a longer hug from behind, “How’s your day?”

“Long. Obviously. We’re working with a Princess from Bhutan and all other projects are pushed aside. We just hope to have enough material and time to get everything done. And that’s just the jewelry business. Tomorrow, my boss is tackling real estate and technology issues. And lemme tell you, every hour, I’ve been putting out fires with issues with them. By tomorrow, the storm will have passed and I’m only delivering results. Unless more issues come up tomorrow.”

“Gotcha…” He trails off into his own thoughts. You recognize the silence and turn around, “What’s up?”

“Well…I kind of needed your help.”

“With what?

“So, you helped me compose and engineer the song for the spring showcase…but our director wants us going for a different vibe. Something a little gentler. ‘Like a spring fairy dancing in the wind’, he says,” Hoseok scoffs, “So I was hoping you can help rearrange it.”

“Mmm…” You slowly chew on your last piece of dinner.

“But you sound like you’re pretty busy. I’ll check with our music producers to see if they can do anything instead.”

“Mmm,” You pat his knee and got up, gesturing him to come with you, “Come here.” You both walk into your room to your office desk. You have an L-shaped desk. One side for actual work, the other for your music production. You sit on the office chair and swivel to the music side while Hoseok sat at the corner of the bed behind you, leaning his elbows on his knees.

“So, remember when you first recruited me for this, I had five songs done, but we ultimately went with the one you chose. I actually saved the other four. Listen to the third one. I think the whole ‘spring fairy in the wind’ thing can kind of go with the vibe of this song.” You hand him the headphones and presses play. You laugh, watching his reactions as he bobs his head to the song and has really animated facial expressions.

“This might be what we’re looking for. Can I grab all four? I’ll run them by our director tomorrow. See if he’ll go for it. It’s really good so hopefully he doesn’t want to change anything.” You nod as you copy all four files into a USB and hand it to him but holds back when he tried to reach for it.

“What do I get in return?”

“You got dinner.”

“This is already an after-dinner request. You need to give me something else.”

“What kind of friendship do you think we have? Always exchanging favors. Is this relationship we have conditional?” He gasps. You sigh, “Guilt tripper.” You hand him the USB.

“Only ‘cause it’s you. And generally, I’m good at it. And if we were conditional, you’d have to give me something for the dinner.”

“Yeah…eh.” You shrug and get up, but he grabs your waist and tackles you on the bed to tickle you.

“I get to tickle you!” He roars with maniacal laughter. While he tickles you, Yeontan runs into the room and jumps on Hoseok to get in on the action and do his best to defend you.

You laugh with him as you two calm down, both petting Yeontan in-between you two laying down on your bed.

“If you ever quit your company, I can get a good word for you to be a music producer for us; it’s what you originally studied for anyway.”

“Honestly, it’s fun. But I’m not gonna lie, I think I was made for problem solving, putting out fires like I do at work. It’s fun too. It’s just overwhelming sometimes. And my boss is the kind of guy to see that if you can handle the tasks he has you juggle; and if you can, he adds more onto your plate and see when you break. That’s super frustrating. And disrespectful. The guy will never acknowledge a job well done. He just moves to the next task.” You vent as you stare at your ceiling.

“Yeah. If your boss doesn’t appreciate you, you can find another job that can do the same thing but with a more appreciative boss.”

“Yeah but think of my salary. I’m working at the number one of the top 10 companies in the country; one of the top 50 in the world. Despite how unappreciative and overwhelming he is, and the number of tasks I can handle matches my salary. Anywhere else I go, I promise you, I’m just wasted talent with a lower salary. It’s not worth it.” Yeontan sneezes, cutting you off.

You and Hoseok lift your head to look at your little pup.

“Yeontan-ie, are you getting sick?” Hoseok says, using a baby voice. You smile at his voice and leans down to kiss Yeontan on the head, “He actually hasn’t been feeling too well. It’s my fault, I’ve forgot to refill his food storage lately. I think he’s malnourished.”

“You gonna take him to the vet?”

“I don’t have the time lately. In the next 2 months, I don’t expect to take any personal time off with so many things going on right now at work.”

“I’ll take him.”

“No, it’s ok. I’ll take him after everything calms down.”

“Your boss is damn near a slave driver. You haven’t taken any personal time off in almost a year, and you expect to do so after? No. Plus Yeontan is sick. There’s no waiting for that. I got this. Give me his vet contact information.”

“And here I thought, you were done doing favors for me.” You grinned. Hoseok picked up Yeontan and sat up to give you a forehead kiss, “You’re an idiot, Y/N.”

You smiled at him before looking at the clock behind him to see that it’s already 11:05.

“Oh crap. I gotta call Peru.” You dash off to the living room to grab your phone that you left there. Hoseok is left there, petting Yeontan and speaking to him in a baby voice, “Your mommy is an idiot, huh?” Hoseok smiles at Yeontan. But even Yeontan can see the shadows behind the sunshine.

~•~

Last night, one of the Peruvian suppliers was able to promise 250 ct worth of tourmaline, but it would be delivered in two weeks rather than the originally intended week and a half. Knowing your boss is one for deadlines and punctuality, you believe he’d prefer Hestia Sourcing. Despite your own gut telling you that Peruvian Treasures will pay off in the long run. Regardless of the turnaround time from your main supplier, the 200 ct in two weeks will keep the remaining four projects afloat before the regular shipment. However, you still report the remaining two supplier response and quotes, also providing your own input. Mr. Min says he prefers Hestia; as expected.

“How goes the status on our tourmaline crisis?” Mr. Min asks as he sips on his third cup of coffee this morning.

“Hestia Sourcing has already been officially contacted for their shipment of tourmaline to arrive in a week and a half. Jimin is currently working with Kim Taehyung on the new design for the frame. Seokjin has already crafted two other designs for you to look at today before he meets with Yoo Jae Suk tomorrow. Beyoncé loves alexandrite, but the tourmaline was intended to match with her costumer designer’s vision for the Met Gala, so he’s unwilling to make changes. Your father had already ok’d the change for your parent’s anniversary gift, so we can switch their gemstones with alexandrite instead. The JP team has already started working on the mold for the Jubilee. And marketing just emailed me the final draft for the letter to the customers and PR is still working with marketing for the ethically sourced advertisement. They are utilizing internet ad platforms, both short clip video ads and on social media.” You handed him your tablet for him to read over the final draft letter and Seokjin’s designs.

“Tell marketing to go ahead with the letter. Also, tell Seokjin that I would also like to see his first design with silver instead of rose gold.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.”

“Today I’m meeting with Jasper and Jester Industries over Zoom at 12:30. Tell the tech team I want to use the hologram projector during this meeting because we’re showing them the prototype today. Speaking of prototype, I need to see the prototype from the TP team by 10. Go to L’Orange today for lunch today; I want the lamb chops. James and Soobin will be coming at 1:30 to go over the purchasing of the mine sites for the cobalt mining. Check back in with me at 2 on the Kim Taehyung project and the marketing strategy. I want to see Seokjin’s new designs by 3. And check with our supply team if we’re maintaining our upkeep of inventory. If not, I need a list before 11 this morning along with suppliers’ response for turnaround time and quotes.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.” You had your hands clasped behind your back the entire time.

“Another coffee please.”

“Yes, Mr. Min.” Without another word, you step out and take out your recorder. You play back his directives as you get the coffee.

~•~

“Hey, Hoseok.” You sigh as you pour hot water into your instant noodle bowl for lunch.

“Hey, Sunshine.” You chuckle. If the either of you were the sunshine, it’d be him.

“How’s Yeontan?”

“He’s fine. The vet says that he’s a little underfed, but otherwise, he’s still the most adorable Yeontan-ie that has ever lived.” Hoseok gushes at the puppy in his lap as he drives on his way back to his home. Hoseok will be holding onto Yeontan until the weekend.

“Ok. That’s good news. Was he good at the vet?”

“He hates the vet. You should know that better than I do. I was a dog catcher for 30 minutes. And he caused a whole waiting room full of dogs into a frenzy. Did you know that one of the people there brought their snake? I hate those. Yeontan almost fought a snake! You have no idea how hard it was for me to finally grab Yeontan before anything drastic happened.” You laugh as he goes on about his heroic deed of saving your pup from a snake.

“You did very well. Thank you, Hoseok.”

“Never mind that, Blessings. Hey. Are you coming over today after work?”

“I might. My boss has been very extra today. Every ten minutes, his chat bubble pops up adding 3 more things to do. But honestly, with the amount of things going on today, he shouldn’t have anything else left to do tonight. I might actually get off work on time.

“Good. Good. ‘Cause I was thinking –“ before Hoseok can finish his words, you hear the sound of a car swerve.

“Hoseok? You ok?”

“Yeah. Some idiot w-“ and the line cut off.

~•~

At 12:15, you were nowhere to be found. You left a message to Yoongi that you had to take the day off. Everything you were requested to do was already set in motion like a Rube Goldberg machine. You texted him saying that there are cups and cups of coffee in the fridge ready for him. If he wants hot, he’ll have to wait another day. And as promised, everything Yoongi needed was here. He had everything he needed. You just weren’t there to provide it.

“Where’s Y/N?” Seokjin asks as he comes in at 3pm like clockwork, “I would’ve thought she’d give me that 20-minute warning like she always does when I have a meeting with you.” She does that?

“I don’t know. She took a half day. I haven’t seen her since 11 or something.” Yoongi says nonchalantly as he looks over the Seokjin’s work. Seokjin just blinks at that before he starts slowly, “That’s not like her. Is everything ok? Do you know what happened?”

“No.”

“It’s just not like her to –“

“I like it better in silver this way.” Yoongi cuts him off, gesturing to the new designs.

“Heh. Yeah, Y/N said you would. I wanted to show you the rose gold one first anyway.” Seokjin chuckles as he sits down across the table from him, “Speaking of Y/N,” I wasn’t speaking about her…, “You got the supplies list for JP, TP, and HP, right? She told me you were working with the cobalt mine sites today. She told me to tell you that since cobalt is one of the supplies on the list, and the mine site wouldn’t be ready just yet, she contacted 3 different cobalt miners and selected Arrows for the cobalt supply.”

“She should’ve come to me first about the different miners. We have our upcoming product from HP –“

“The ceramic tiles for Ms. James’ bathroom. Yeah. She contacted HP. They require 300 g and Arrows is the only one with the adequate amount of supply. It will be here in 5 days.” Seokjin stands up and walks over to Yoongi’s kitchen, “All the other suppliers have been contacted. She sent me the list and wants me to report it to you.”

“You’re just a designer for the jewelry department,” Yoongi says as he looks through his email to see if you sent him any recent emails. Nothing.

“Give me some credit. I’ve got a brain and it’s used for more than just designing. Don’t forget, before I was a designer, I was also your assistant too.”

“Yeah, a pretty bad one.” Yoongi snorts. It’s why he needed you.

“We were just a startup! We literally just graduated then.” Seokjin protests as he come back over and sets down a steaming hot cup of coffee in front of Yoongi.

“I thought Y/N only had iced ones left.”

“She did, but she instructed me to heat up one for you before we go over the list with you.” Seokjin scoots his chair closer as he whips out his tablet to bring up the supplies list, “And one for after.”

~•~

“Mr. Jung has suffered a serious blow to the head and is currently unconscious. We don’t know when he will wake at this point. His left arm has scarring from the glass shatters from the window when the car was impacted. His left leg has a hairline fracture and the patella was dislocated but has already been set back. Luckily, his left leg is the worst of the limbs. There’s bruising on the right thigh and right elbow also has bruising. The bruises are likely from holding on to the dog during impact. His right arm has some muscle tears do to strain.

“Right now, our biggest concern is when he will wake up. He had internal bleeding in the brain but the blood has been removed and there’s no clotting, in his brain or anywhere near his spine. Everything is where it needs to be, and there’s nothing that indicated long term brain damage or trauma. But we won’t know for sure until he wakes up.” The doctor nods his head and leaves.

You sniff as you cross your arms, staring at your best friend lying in the hospital bed. His head is wrapped as well as his left arm. His left leg is currently suspended in its cast. By his left eyes and cheeks, are massive bruises that still look sticky and gooey.

If only I didn’t let him take Yeontan…

“How’s my dog?”

“We checked in with the vet hospital nearby. Your dog has no extreme injuries, only mild bruising. The doctor wants him to stay overnight for observation.” The nurse reports to you. You shiver from the lonely air of the hospital.

“You can go in and see the patient right now, but please do not touch him. And visiting hours will be over in 40 minutes.” The nurse gently reminds you before you nod, thanking the nurse and heading in.

Walking towards Hoseok, your nose feels the burn as tears well up in your eyes. Before you even reach Hoseok’s bed, the tears already overflow out.

“I’m so sorry Hoseok. This is my fault.” And he’s a dancer too…oh my God, he’s a dancer….his limbs…

Your tears quickly turn into hysterical sobs, thinking too many things at once. Your greatest prayer is that he wakes up and he is completely healed. You start hyperventilating so you sit down and take deep breaths.

Although you were instructed not to touch him, you couldn’t resist to at least clutch to the hospital blankets next to his right hand, your knuckles touching each other’s.

“Please wake up, Hoseok. I’ll never have you do anything else for me. I’m sorry if I ever took advantage of you. Please know that I never once took you for granted. You are my dearest friend and I don’t want anyone else for a best friend. I promise to hug you more. I promise to cook for you. I’ll do it at your house. You don’t have to come to mine. I’ll clean up my mess after too. I’m here for you, I promise. I really am. I’m not leaving you, I swear to God. Please just wake up and be ok. You’re gonna be ok. I promise.” You turn to look to the hospital window to make sure no one sees you. You grab his right hand and lean down to kiss it, “Please wake up.”

Your phone in your pocket vibrates and you take it out.

The board members meeting is tomorrow at 8am. Please gather the data and reports from the teams ready by 6am. I will look over it before the meeting.

“Fuck you. No. Not now.” You grit your teeth and put the phone back in the pocket.

Your tears are both sad and angry now, but you know you need to calm down. Nothing drastic.

You take a couple deep breaths before you wipe your tears and take your phone out again to write an email. You look up as you think for a moment. Make that three.

~•~

Yoongi never got a reply from you last night, but he did receive the reports at 4 in the morning. He walks in the office by 6:30 but your desk obviously has not been touched since yesterday afternoon. He tilts his head and walks into his office. Nope, you’re not there either. But his cup of coffee is.

He sits down to look at the coffee and look around. No one is here. No one is out there. He takes the cup of coffee and takes a sip. Yup, that’s the one. Quad venti vanilla latte. Two espresso shots in the bottom, two espresso shots on the top. Soy milk. Sugar-free vanilla syrup. No foam. Chocolate drizzle with latte art of a star. But it’s warm; and not quite right.

Yoongi hears a knock on the door and he sets down his coffee cup, “Come in.”

“Hey, Yoongs.” Seokjin greets him, awfully and scarily cheerful for a truly early morning.

“What’s up with your attitude? And why are you here?” Seokjin doesn’t need to come in until 8:30.

“Well. Considering that I got absolutely no sleep last night, gathering the reports and data for your board meeting today, I’d say I’m positively chipper. And don’t you dare call it an attitude, or else I’m gone for the rest of the day too. I’ll show you attitude.”

“What are you talking about? Where’s Y/N? You didn’t send me the reports. She did. You brought the coffee? What do you mean ‘gone too’? What’s going on?” Yoongi gets more and more heated per question. And, where is she?

“Woah. Slow down, man. Relax. Take a sip of the coffee.”

“No thanks. Something’s wrong with it.” Yoongi sits back and laces his fingers together, staring at the cup as if it were a disease.

“Oh. Well I reheated one of them that was still in the fridge. Maybe it’s not the same overnight.” Seokjin taps his chin, turning his head to look over to the fridge, “Probably should toss the rest of them then.”

“Where’s Y/N?”

“She emailed me last night. She told human resources that she’s taking a month off, for now. She doesn’t know if she’ll extend that to an entire sabbatical. I’m taking over for her for the rest of the week. Next week, she will have her intern replace her for the time being. Lucky for me, it’s already Thursday.” Seokjin turns on his tablet and opens his mouth, ready to jump into the reports with Yoongi, but Yoongi cuts him off before he even starts.

“What happened? Why is she taking a month off? Who’s her intern? Why didn’t she contact me?”

“Didn’t she? Check your emails. Maybe you missed it? Her intern’s name is Jeon Jungkook. He’s pretty green, but he’s been trained by her, so he’ll be fine.” But Yoongi already wasn’t listening about the intern. He looks through his emails, everything has already been read. Nothing from you. Nothing for him. And sure enough, the reports were sent by Seokjin.

He leans back roughly and takes a deep breath. Seokjin raises his eyes at Yoongi’s furrowed ones.

“Wait. What happened?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t ask. Because if she’s not here, it’s bad.”

~•~

You’re back at the hospital after going home to change and take a shower. You notified the school of Hoseok’s accident and his dance team as well. His director contacted you and told you that they decided to go with the track that you let Hoseok present to him yesterday. But his director asked for a few adjustments.

While you sit by Hoseok’s hospital bed, you bring your music equipment with you to work on the track for his showcase. Every once in a while, you get up to check in on Hoseok.

While you work on the track, you hear the door open. You turn around and see a gang of students peering in.

“We want to see Mr. Jung. We’re his dance class.” One of the girls says quietly. You nod and take your laptop up and bring your equipment by the window as his students walk in one by one. Looks like the nurse is only allowing a few at a time because the rest are still standing outside.

“What happened to him?” One of his female student’s sniffs.

“Car accident. He was heading home from the vet.” Your words trail off quieter every word. Reminding yourself that he’s here because of you.

“Vet? Was he taking Yeontan?” She asks.

“Yeah. How do you know Yeontan?”

“He shows us so many videos of you and your dog.” One of the students pipe up. Oh, Hoseok.

There’s a knock on the door and one of the students outside pops his head in, “Is it our turn now?”

“Yeah.” The students in the room shuffle on out.

“Who’s she?” One of the students ask the girl who was leaving.

“Mr. Jung’s girlfriend.” Wait, what?

“Oh!” As the next line of students file in, you see everyone intently stare at you as they come in and gather around Hoseok to see him. One of the girls sets down flowers by his bedside table.

“Um. Excuse me.” You whisper for their attention, “Where did you get the impression that I’m his girlfriend?” The students look at each other

“He shows us a lot of pictures and videos of you and your dog. And he always talks about you. We just figured.” The girl shrugs. The rest of the students raises eyebrows at her, and she just shrugs back at them.

“Oh. Okay.” You let it go after that. Verbally, at least. Your head was spinning. He apparently talks about you and Yeontan too much if he’s leaving that kind of impression.

~•~

After visiting hours were over, you headed over to pick up Yeontan.

When you get home, you have him cradled into your lap, humming soft and gentle tunes.

You open your laptop to continue working on the track. But you eye the number of emails popping up on the email icon. You sigh and click it open. 14 emails from Seokjin, 10 emails from multiple departments, 2 from human resources, and 26 from Mr. Min, 3 from Jungkook. You raise your eyebrows at the number of emails from your boss. You read your boss’ emails first. All titled “Your absence”; a constant thread. You decided to just read his last one and just go up the chain.

-          Why are you taking off a month?

-          Are you out of the country or just off?

-          Seokjin is an idiot. What exactly did you tell him do while you’re gone? He’s not doing it right.

-          The coffee in the fridge is bad now. Tell Seokjin to get the right one.

-          Please tell Seokjin where you get the coffee.

-          He doesn’t know where you get the coffee

-          I swear to God, if he doesn’t get the coffee, I’m firing him.

-          He’s got me drinking black coffee for now. It still tastes funny. Is this our office coffee?

-          Why are you taking a month off?

-          Why are you blocking my texts and calls?

You can’t help but feel amused at these emails. It’s been a long time since he’s spoken to you like this. You blocked his calls and texts since last night out of impulse, to be honest. Knowing him, he’ll still contact you on your time off. It’s understandable, considering the situation and environment that you were in at the time, but you should really unblock him; it’s kind of unprofessional. Even if he is. As you continue his emails, notifications pop up every time you open another one, showing your boss your read receipts. Wow.

-          Japan will be flying in tomorrow as we go through the jewelry fundraising dinner for the Children’s Home Project.

-          Will you be here for the fundraising?

-          Does this mean you won’t be attending the Queen’s Jubilee either? Or the Taehyung unveiling?

-          Do you really have to take a month off? Can you be back this week?

-          I’m getting pissed at your “I’m currently out of the office” replies.

You shake your head as his emails get more and more intrusive. Asking about the days taken off, telling you that it’s very unprofessional to not reply and block him even if you are currently off. Well it’s unprofessional and intrusive to harass your employee who’s currently on PTO; and one with long overdue vacation time, at that.

You don’t reply to his email just yet. You check in on other emails. The multiple departments apparently were directed by Mr. Min to provide you an update after every meeting or conversation made so you stay in the loop. Human resources checked in on your PTO requests, your intern’s temporary role, and apparently Mr. Min requested that they contacted you about your reasons for leave of absence. Seokjin also provided you an hourly update, at your request though, but every email ended with something regarding the coffee. His latest one seemed desperate.

-          He said he’d fire me, Y/N. Please.

You snort. Like Mr. Min would ever fire Seokjin. You can recall at least 15 times where Mr. Min threatened to fire Seokjin.

Your third email last night was to Jungkook, notifying him to take up the job while you’re gone. You sent him damn near everything that happened in the past month. He just needs to go down the list of documents you mapped out in terms of routine, importance, current projects, and the like. His latest however was inquired by Seokjin to see if he knew where you get Mr. Min’s coffee.

You straighten up your back, pop your elbows and knuckles, and cracked your neck. You look down at Yeontan, curled up and resting in your lap.

“Yeontan. Help.” His steady breaths just remind you that he’s in need of rest more than you. And with Hoseok in the hospital, you’re the last one who needs a break right now.

“Right.” You exhale a breath of resolve and start typing away.

~•~

Seokjin breathes through his last meeting with Yoongi for the day. He finally leans back on his chair and exhales loudly.

“What?” Yoongi snaps. Black coffee is not enough for him, that’s for sure.

“Being your assistant is not easy, man.”

“Having you as my assistant is no picnic either. Can’t even make a decent cup of coffee.”

“She said she’ll give Jungkook the coffee secret. You’ll have it next week.” Yoongi loosens his tie and glares at his emails. For the past two days, you don’t reply to him. He sees your read receipts and he’s only received one reply to you on his latest email on his thread. I’m currently out of the office right now. Ask Seokjin. In terms of the more personal ones, like why you’re gone, you just leave a vague, I need to take care of some personal things.

“Y/N has never been so irresponsible before. It’s throwing me off.” Yoongi expresses out loud. Seokjin’s head was rolled back over the chair but he lifts it up to stare at him, “She’s doing a pretty badass job if you’re asking me. Everything is nearly taken care of before the next morning. All we have to do is show up and report to you everything. You don’t see our emails, but she leaves a very detailed response.”

“So why doesn’t she respond to me?!” Seokjin raises his eyebrows at Yoongi’s raised voice, as well as the newly provided information.

“She doesn’t reply to you? I got a response in every one of my emails.”

“Let me see.” Yoongi stands up from his chair to walk around to Seokjin as he takes out his phone to show him one of your latest emails. As Seokjin is your witness, your emails are nearly step by step. You’ve looped Seokjin into all the emails you’ve received from the other departments, replying to Seokjin and the departments at the same time on next steps.

“If she’s replying to all of us in the same detailed manner, there’s probably no need to respond to yours because we’re the ones who will directly notify you. She’s currently off right now, man. Right now, it’s not her job to answer you, it’s ours. You probably ask the same things we are. Plus, after all of this, I’m sure she needs a break.”

Well. Seokjin’s reports and questions are actually pretty valid. Most of Yoongi’s are simply, why are you gone, and, when are you coming back? So far, the work-related questions can be answered through Seokjin. But that might be because you’re coaching their words.

Yoongi scratches his head as he walks around his office.

Seokjin looks at him before standing up, “Come on. You need to eat.”

~•~

You enter Hoseok’s home with his spare key he provided you. While he’s in the hospital, you figure you can help him house sit. You drag all of Yeontan’s things into the house. You exhale out of exhaustion and collapse on the floor after you’ve taken your shoes off. After taking a minute to breathe and rest, you pick yourself off from the floor and ready to bring Yeontan and your items with you.

What surprises you is the number of dog-related items he has. He has the same dog bowl dispenser as you, a doggy bed. Chew toys and dog bones stray around the living room floor. How many times has he dog sat for you?

“Well, I guess I won’t be needing these, huh, Yeontan?” Yeontan yips and trots over to his bed and lays in it. He’s more familiar with the lay of the land than you are. You’re slightly annoyed that you brought all of this over without knowing you didn’t even have to in the first place. But you halt your annoyance when something dawns on you. I never really noticed how much Hoseok does for me…do I?

You drag yourself over to sit on his couch, watching Yeontan drag the stuffed chew toy over to his bed and wrestles with it. Yeontan is so at home here. And you’re still sitting up straight on his couch. Whereas if he were over at your place right now, his feet are already up on the couch. You feel so foreign here.

You get up from the couch and decide to explore everything. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom.

His kitchen sink is clear, but he piles every dish he ever owns up in the drying rack, rather than drying them and putting them back up in the drawers. His fridge is adequately stocked but it looks like some stuff was recently bought. Some raw meat is in the fridge is starting to brown. I’ll have to make a note to help him clean his fridge out.

He has a modest little dining table which one side is pushed against the wall across from the kitchen. Three chairs take up each side, with two chairs pushed out, obviously frequently used. One of them is obviously Hoseok’s, but the other has a very tall and fluffy sitting cushion. Wonder whose that for. Lined and stacked against the wall are the pile of snacks you remember that he and you practically survived on during college. Heh, he still eats those?

You pull out his chair further to sit down. You hear Yeontan scamper over and hop up on the chair with the fluffy cushion, conditioned to expect a piece of meat from whatever dinner Hoseok cooked up.

“You’re a spoiled, little rascal, aren’t ya?” You ruffle Yeontan’s fur before playfully tapping his nose. You grab a bag of chips and open it up as you keep moving.

His bathroom is pretty well kept. A lavender-scented bathroom. Now that you think about it, lavender scented home. His personal hygiene items are hidden behind the mirror storage cabinet, but on the sink platform, he has a doggy toothbrush and toothpaste, as well as dog soap and hair brush.

“You really have everything, don’t you, Hoseok?” You mumble to yourself. You smile at the how caring your best friend is. You don’t deserve him, really.

He’s only one guy, so he only has one room. You don’t think he’ll mind you using his room for the time being. You open the door to see the heart of Hoseok. His furniture is light and made of bamboo. It’s very reflective of his clean, gentle, and peaceful nature. If you had to compare Hoseok to anything, it would be bamboo. Light, strong, and giving. He brings a sense of calmness to you.

Your hands glide over the smooth wardrobe over to his bookshelf, but he seems to collect more trinkets than books. You note his stuffed animals, empty cologne bottle, three different books that you’ve recommended to him, his first pair of dance shoes when he got his first real dance gig…you’ve given him all these things.

As a pattern starts to form, you look around the room. Pictures of you two together. In the drama team in college where you two met, his first dance performance, your first mixer, etc. Important memories.

You look back at his trinkets. You gave him that cologne bottle after college. It’s empty now, but he hasn’t thrown it away. You won that stuffed animal at the fair when he failed the fair game. You gave that to him.

“Hoseok…” Your heart clenched as you read the implications of this room and the rest of his house.

He loves you. And you’ve been far too stupid.

~•~

You dart out of his house for a moment and take a second to compose yourself. Yeontan is left behind the door, yipping for his owner to return into this sanctuary which the homeowner will envelop his owner with love.

Your poor, dear friend. How long? For why?

You love your friend immensely, but how could you possibly be so blind to how he felt about you? You love your friend, and yet you find the largest gap between how he treats you and you treat him. You should be ashamed and guilty. But should you? He is free to love you as much as you are free to not reciprocate. But that doesn’t mean lead him on; or take advantage of him. But that would require your acknowledgement of his feelings for you, which you never have until now. Did you even? You can’t come up with a single moment in time where you believe you may have led him on. Have you taken advantage of him? Sure. Loads of times, but it was never based on his love. It was a best friend who knew exactly what you need, when you need it, and prepared to provide. You never thought of it beyond such.

I can’t be guilty if I never knew. You tell yourself. But really? Are you sure you never had a clue?

**

“Hoseok! Help meeeee!” You groan as you hit your head down to the book opened up on the table.

Hoseok comes flying in with a plastic bag and a carton tray with boba, “I’ve brought refreshments!”

As soon as the bag drops in front of you, you face lights up and you cry in relief.

“Wait,” he pulls the food away from you as you whine, “You’re not to be distracted. This is your last final, and I’ll be damned if you fail general. This is your last hurdle before your dad finally agrees to you becoming a music producer.”

“I can’t focus, man! And yeah, it’s easy. It really is. But I’m ready to be done. To be out there!” you gesture dramatically outside to the window, “I want to be part of that world!”

“And you will. After tomorrow. You’re telling me, you really can’t buckle down one more night. You’re at the last leg of the finish line.” Hoseok pokes the boba lid for you and hands it over.

“It’s that thing where you’re just ready to be done. It makes me restless.” You whine, but your whine turns into sounds of content as you sip through the straw.

“Y/N. I’ve got you. You’re gonna be fine. You’re gonna get through this. You’re gonna get an A…and if you can get through this last study session and ace the final, I’ll take you to Moonshine.” He bribes.

Your eyes widen before you squint in disbelief, “Moonshine? Michelin-star restaurant, Moonshine? You’re not serious.”

“Yes, I am. I’ll break all my piggy banks if it will get you to study properly.”

“All of them?”

“Yes, all 15. I’ve been saving them since I was 5.”

“That’s so cute!”

“Ok. Enough. Study.” You really thought he was joking, but you still buckled down, moved enough by his sincerity alone.

**

“Come on, Y/N. It’s ok.” Hoseok soothes your back as your hysterical sobs echo through the courtyard.

“Physics. General physics. I barely passed in high school and now I’ve even failed.” You wipe your tears and blow your nose, “My chance to even land a decent career is over. I’m gonna be working a fast food chain now.”

“Woah, Y/N, slow down. It’s not that serious. It’s one class. This is your sophomore year. You’re telling me that one general physics class, physics in which your career path is nowhere near close to requiring it, will need you to ace general physics? My dad says that all jobs need is a degree, not the classes you take.”

“Yeah, well my dad says no music. What future do I have now? I’m so stupid.” Hoseok stays quiet for a moment, knowing that a deal is a deal, and you take those pretty seriously.

“Y/N. Your future is not over. Your future is so bright, it’s surprisingly brighter the sun. You may not be able to do music as a career, but don’t you ever let that get in the way of the passion you actually have. That, your dad can never take away from you. And if you lose making music, that’s worse than never having a job to do so in the first place. Your passion is what keeps your days from being gray. So, you need to hold on to it. Like I will always hold on to you.” Hoseok wraps his arms around you and pulls you close as you sob into his neck.

“That’s it. There you go. All over the neck. That’s right. Mmm, just like that.” Hoseok teases. You start laughing and crying at the same time, “Stop it, it sounds so weird.”

“Can’t be weirder than the feeling of someone’s tears and snot on my neck.” Hoseok says when you pull away, wiping his neck. He stands up and brings you up too, brushing your hair to look less like the nest it is, “Come. Dress yourself to the nines, Y/N! I’m taking you to Moonshine.”

“We really don’t have to do that. Let’s wait until we get ourselves our first real jobs first. I’m good with going anywhere. Let’s just grab some chicken and beer.”

“Nah, nah, nah. My girl deserves the best. And I’m ready. My piggy banks are all broke now. We’re going.”

“Hey Hoseok,” your inquiry halts his attempts to skip across the courtyard with you, “You didn’t really break piggy banks that you’ve had since you were five, did you? I didn’t even get an A.”

“Yup. But I was going to take you no matter what grade you got anyway.” He said, enunciating the p. You pout and bury yourself in his chest. He instinctively wraps his arms around you and starts laughing when he hears you sniffling, “Don’t cry, Y/N. It’s just money. Money does not grow on trees, but it’s not gone forever too. It’s fine. And this is important. You’re sad and that’s not okay with me.” You wrap your arms around his waist and start bawling.

“Hoseok!” you literally cry out his name and he laughs as he pets your head, shushing you to calm down.

“You’re the most adorable human being on earth.” You hiccup, pulling away from his chest.

“I’d beg to differ. You’ve never met yourself, have you?” He tilts his head to look at you, “You’re worth it, love.” He kisses you on the forehead before pulling you for another tight hug.

**

You clutch your chest as pain flows from your heart to your eyes. You’re absolutely disgusted with yourself right now. To be so blind. Or, if not blind, ignorant. Probably willfully ignorant. It’s easier to be okay with the things he does for you if you don’t recognize the underlying reasons.

Did you ever like him? Of course.

Like that? Possibly.

Did you love him? Of course.

Like that?

   Probably not.

Seokjin watches Yoongi chug back the soju and slams it on the table. The seventh one by the count of the bottles.

“Yoongi, what’s going on?”

“Y/N is bothering me.”

“She’s not even here!”

“Exactly!” Seokjin is taken aback but his smile increases in amusement. He takes his own soju bottle and pours some into Yoongi’s cup, “Why?”

“What?”

“Why does that bother you?” Yoongi stops for a moment and hiccups. Why does that bother him? His head rolls around as he tries to focus on what’s in front of him, but the bottles keep moving. He keeps blinking, hoping that his vision stops being blurry.

Seokjin passes him a piece of chicken, “Ah, I should have known.”

“What?” Yoongi glances up to Seokjin with half-lids. He’d move his head to look up too, but he’s afraid of toppling over completely.

“Y/N has been working in this company for what? 8 years? Been your assistant for 6?”

“Okay…” Why is Seokjin mathing right now?

“You can’t function with her anymore. And do you know why?” Yoongi dares to shake his head but he puts both hands on the table to steady himself.

“We have no time for riddles. Answer my question.” Yoongi glares at Seokjin.

“You didn’t even ask a question. I asked you the questions.”

“Then answer the ‘uestions!” Yoongi raises his voice. Seokjin shakes his head. Ok. It’s time to cut Yoongi off.

“I’m not having a conversation with you when you become a loud and gibberish-ing drunk. Let’s get you home.” Yoongi mumbles his protests in gibberish as Seokjin pays the bill.

“She ‘oesn’t tell me wha’s going on.” Yoongi mumbles as Seokjin picks him up and escorts him into the car.

“Yeah, well that’s why she has us to be her hands and feet.”

“I wan’ my coffee.”

“Can’t help you there, bud, I want it too. Trust me, if I can get it so I can shut you up, I would.” Seokjin goes to the window by Mr. Min’s driver, “Please make sure he can get into the door.”

Yeonjun nods, “Of course, Mr. Kim.”

Mr. Min is still rolling around the backseat, “Yeon’un, Y/N’s place.”

Yeonjun glances back to Mr. Min and shakes his head, “Sorry, Mr. Min. But you’re too drunk.”

~•~

Last night, you received Seokjin’s text, Hey. Don’t mean to intrude on your personal time, at all. But I wanted to check in and see if you’re ok enough to reply something to Yoongi? He’s pretty ridiculous, but he kind of needs to hear from you. Otherwise, all of your consultations will be a waste and he’ll just burn us all to the ground. No pressure though! If you really can’t right now, just let me know. I’ll talk to him.

You tilt your head back and exhale loudly. Even back when the company was a startup, Seokjin was still a peacemaker. You used to talk back to your boss, but things have changed since the company rose to its place.

**

“Y/N, you’re supposed to do what I tell you. So, stop thinking, and just do,” Yoongi standing over you while you glare up at your boss with your laptop in your lap. He shakes the printed emails on your face, “Look at this! We lost our only active client right now, because of your mistake. You should have told me the moment it happened, but you tried to fix it yourself. Now look where we’re at!”

You stand up to Yoongi with your laptop open still in your hands, “It wasn’t my fault! I did tell you the moment the situation started turning on itself, but you wouldn’t listen to me. I was trying to fix your mistake before the client really got pissed. And then you canceled the shipment I worked really hard to get a hold of just because it wasn’t your plan. That’s not on me, that’s on you. You’re micromanaging at a very poor state. You arrogant, self-centered jerk!”

Yoongi closes his face in on you, “Y/N, Seokjin may have been your classmate, but I’m your boss here and now. Unless you want to find another boss who’s willing to pay you the rate we have here, I never want you to speak to me like that again.”

“Shit boss in a shithole of a company.” You say. The room got cold with there was a deafening silence.

Seokjin quickly rose up and stood in between you and Yoongi who were glaring at each other, “Okay, okay. I think we’ve all said enough. Yoongi, go stand over there. And Y/N, you go stand over there,” Seokjin pointed to opposite ways. Both of you looked out of your respective windows with your arms crossed.

“Now look. This isn’t the end of it. We all did what we thought was best at the time. This is our first mistake of many, but we learn from each one, right? Yoongi, you’re not only person who’s right all the time. Some people have good ideas and you’ll miss out on some really great opportunities and people if you never let go of control. Y/N, you were very smart, and we never want you to neglect that part of you. But Yoongi is right in that you had to talk to us about it instead of going off on your own. And honestly, let’s not curse at each other, ok? This is still a business, in a professional setting here.” You glance above and look at your surroundings. It’s a pretty tiny room you guys operate in. You don’t even have a desk.

“We’re not trying to one up each other, right? We’re a team. We will have to work together in solving problems. Even if Yoongi is a little stubborn, I’m here, right? And Yoongi, I’m also here to make sure that Y/N does communicate to us about these things more, right? Right, guys? Now we’re gonna be fine. Let’s focus on the tasks at hand, rather than point fingers and focus back on bringing our clients back in.”

You take a deep breath as you listen to Seokjin’s consulting words. Yoongi takes a sip of his coffee and scrunches his face, “This coffee is trash.” He throws it to the trash can on the side. You turn around and walk out, “I’ll go grab you some coffee.”

After you leave, Yoongi looks at Seokjin.

“She’s very unprofessional.” Yoongi puts his hands in his pocket.

“But she’s brilliant. Honestly, you did kind of messed it up, though. She really did have it worked out.”

“Haven’t you heard, knowledge and skill is teachable. Attitude is not.”

“Well, she never really intended to be in an administrative workplace. Give her a chance to adjust. We’re only 8 months in. We’re all adjusting. Trust me, my intuition is on point. This is the job for her; and she is the assistant you need. I hope she never stops trying to kick you in the ass every once in a while.” You stayed behind to listen to their words. After the conversation was over, you left for the coffee run.

**

If it wasn’t for Seokjin, you would have been fired that day. And you would have never had the job you have now. Seokjin gave you a chance to finally mold to the composed and professional role you have today. It’s the least I can do for Seokjin. You say to yourself as you scroll through your contacts to find your boss. Unblocked.

You look up to the door of Hoseok’s room. Beyond that, lies a man who is hopelessly in love with you. Near broken, and oh, so tender. You took a deep breath and walk in.

There he is, waiting. Waiting to wake up. Waiting to see you. If his consciousness is active, you don’t know which one he wants more right now.

You set your stuff down next to your chair and hover over your friend. You wish he’d wake up so you can hear what he has to say. You’re sure he has much to say. But you’re also worried for what he’d want you to say when he wakes up.

“Wake up anyway.” You whisper, lacing your fingers with his right hand, doing your best not to bend anything.

At that moment you see Hoseok’s eyes rolling around behind his eyelids. You gasp and take a step back for a moment. But you remember what’s more at stake. You slam the doctor button above his head.

“Hoseok? Wake up!” The doctor and nurse fly in to assess him while you stand in the corner.

“He’s not awake yet,” your shoulders slump at the update, “it’s common for patients’ eyes to do that even when they’re in a coma. For now, it’s good to keep speaking to him though. Familiar voices will help.”

“Thanks, doctor.” He and the nurse step out and you step towards Hoseok.

You lean over him again, “H-Hoseok…” maybe right now would be a good time since he’s unconscious, “I went over to your house to house-sit. I saw how much you invest in for Yeontan. I…I saw your room.” You pause when you see his eyes rolling around again, “…I want to hear it from you. I want to talk to you. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know what I want to say to you just yet. But I need to stop talking. Because I need to hear you more. I’m so sorry for being an idiot. I’m so sorry if you ever felt taken advantaged of. Above all, you should know that I do lo…that you’re my dearest friend and I never want anything bad to happen to you.”

You feel a buzz in your pocket, and you lean back to check your phone. It’s a text from Yeonjun.

Hi, Y/N. Mr. Min is currently feeling a hangover and he says he really needs coffee. But he says it has to be the coffee. He won’t get out of bed. Are you able to help?

You close your eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. Jungkook starts tomorrow. You really thought your boss could wait. But he’s always been some form of an addict.

You put your phone back in your pocket and lean over Hoseok again, “Hoseok, I have to go right now. But I’ll be back. I promise. I’ll always be here for you. Please wake up.”

~•~

Yoongi’s arm lays over his eyes as he attempts to ignore the pounding of his headache. The blackout curtains are closed, and the only light comes from the thin outline at the bottom of the curtains. He’ll have to get you to speak to his maid to switch out the curtains for something even longer.

He hears a knock on his door and groans, turning over to his side facing away from the door, “If it’s not coffee, go away.”

“It’s coffee, Mr. Min.” Yoongi’s ears perked up, “Fine.”

Yeonjun steps in as quietly as he possibly can be and brings the cup to Yoongi’s bedside. Yoongi slowly sits up and takes to coffee from Yeonjun. He opens the lid and sees the latte art he expects. Steaming.

Yoongi inhales the steam and already feel invigorated by aroma. Yeonjun raises his eyebrows, “Should I give you two a minute?” Yoongi glares at Yeonjun but he quickly backs up. Before Yeonjun opens the door, Yoongi stops him, “Wait. Where’s Y/N?”

“All she did was drop this off to me. She had me pick it up from her car at the curbside.”

Yoongi frowned but didn’t say anything, which was Yeonjun’s cue to leave. Yoongi took a sip of the coffee. At least he got his fix.

After he finishes his coffee, he’s actually ready to get up and get ready for the day. He walks out of his room in his well-tailored grey suit, straightening his jacket, he steps out ready again, with the hangover gone.

“Mr. Min.” Yeonjun greets, holding out another cup. Mr. Min opens the lid again to see the familiar latte. Mr. Min looks up to Yeonjun for an explanation, “Y/N gave me two this morning. One for the hangover; one for the car ride to the company.”

See, this is the Y/N he’s been looking for.

~•~

The moment Mr. Min pulls up, he sees a guy in suit standing outside of the company with a very familiar coffee up in hand. He doesn’t look one hundred percent man, but he can’t label him a boy either. The moment the car door opens for Mr. Min and he steps out, buttoning his jacket, the guy walks over and hands over coffee cup, “Good morning, Mr. Min. My name is Jeon Jungkook, and I’m currently taking over for Y/N for this month.” Mr. Min takes a sip and recognizes the coffee. Steaming.

As Mr. Min walks in, Jungkook follows his side, passing over the tablet to show him his morning routine, “Today, you’ll be meeting Mr. Bang and his film crew at 9:30 about our latest video production equipment for his artist’s new MV. At 11, Kim Taehyung will be doing a video conference with you about his artist frame. At 2:15, your father will be coming in to examine the designs for the anniversary gift.” Mr. Min hands Jungkook back the tablet after looking at the schedule. Jungkook helps press the elevator button for Mr. Min.

Mr. Min side glances at Jungkook. Looks like you really did train this kid strictly.

“Get Soobin on the phone. Figure out where we’re at with the cobalt mines. And Jimin hasn’t sent me his designs for Kim’s artist frame.”

“I spoke with Soobin before you arrived. He said this morning they found an area with a 7.7 on the cobalt detector scale at the site. They will set up the perimeter and permits before they get started on the actual mining process. The whole  process will be completely set up and ready in three days and will begin mining on the fourth. Jimin has emailed you the designs this morning. Here.” Jungkook hands him the email showing the designs. Mr. Min swipes through the designs.

“What happened here? I told Jimin I want zultanite.”

“It was Mr. Kim’s request. He requires the tourmaline at the top of the frame. He’s willing to settle the zultanite for the remaining parts of the frame, except for that one.” Mr. Min inhales deeply before he takes another sip of coffee.

~•~

“You look much better.” Seokjin observes as Mr. Min came in.

“Got the coffee.” Mr. Min raises his cup to show Seokjin. Seokjin makes an expression of understanding.

“Well, do you have another cup? I kind of have a bomb that I need to drop on you.” Oh no. Mr. Min puts his cup down on his desk and put his hands on it to stay steady, “What?”

Before Seokjin can get the words out, Jungkook puts another cup of coffee on the desk in front of him and retracts his legs to stand straight next to Mr. Min.

Both men look at Jungkook with raised eyebrows before looking back at one another.

“JP made a mistake during the tourmaline cut for the biggest gem. It’s too small to fit in the mold now. We have to wait for that shipment coming from Hestia.” Mr. Min slams his hands on the table and curses loudly. That means they just wasted 100 ct worth of tourmaline and the incoming shipment was to be used for the other four projects will use 100 ct of it for the Jubilee.

“And Kim Taehyung’s unveiling happens the Thursday after. And then comes Yoo Jae Suk’s Running Man anniversary gift the following Tuesday. We’re lucky that my parent’s anniversary is mid-month and the Met Gala is at the end of the month. By the beginning of next month, we will get our regular shipment from our main supplier, Microcosm. By then, we can use the 40 ct for the anniversary and the Met Gala, but we’re using only 115 ct for the former two.”

“Jungkook,” Mr. Min gestures towards the boy behind him firmly, “Find out the eta on Hestia’s shipment.”

“I just messaged our Hestia point of contact,” Jungkook immediately hands Mr. Min his phone, “Their shipment notification says they’ll be here by Thursday. I told them that a crisis has happened, and they need to expedite the shipment to.”

While the phone is in Mr. Min’s hand, the contact person messaged back to Jungkook, We can upgrade the shipment to priority one. It will arrive in tomorrow. However, there is a $1500 price to it.

Mr. Min hands Jungkook back the phone, “Tell them money is not an issue. They should have fucking did that in the first place anyway.”

Jungkook shows Seokjin the updates.

“Okay,” Seokjin gestures with his hands, “so I guess crisis averted. Sort of. The tourmaline must be inserted before topaz, so production will be halted for 3 days on the gemstone side. 1 day for the shipment to arrive. Because it comes in raw, we still need to polish and cut it, which takes 2 days. We’re cutting in close, but the gold and ceramic piece is coming together at the same time, so by the time the piece is complete, we will have the tourmaline and topaz in. The product should expect to be done this Saturday. JP will have to do overtime for Saturday. And then Monday, the princess is back to see the final product.”

Mr. Min pinches the bridge of his nose and looks down. He grabs the new cup of coffee and practically downs it like a shot.

“Yeah. Sounds about right.”

“Nice job, Jungkook. You’re really quick.” Seokjin smiles.

“I learn from the best.” Jungkook has a quick and shy smile, but he quickly turns back to Mr. Min, “I’ve learned that Kim Taehyung’s piece requires 73 ct worth of tourmaline. Yoo Jae Suk requests to make 21 trinket anniversary gifts, 8 for the cast members, and 13 for his production crew. The trinkets are relatively small, but with 21 of them, the amount of tourmaline required is 42kg. If any mistakes are made during production, we barely have any left to work with.”

“One step at a time, kiddo. Let’s finish up the Jubilee first.” Seokjin says, looking at Mr. Min’s furrowed eyebrows. Mr. Min looks up at the clock. It’s 9.

“Mr. Bang and his film crew will be here soon. Is the tech team ready?”

“Yes, Mr. Min. They’re already setting up the equipment in Meeting Room 3.” Jungkook reads his text aloud.

“Alright. Go on, get everything set up. I’ll be there in 15 minutes.” Mr. Min shoos Jungkook out of the room. Seokjin watches Jungkook leave the room and turns back to Mr. Min, expecting Mr. Min to speak more to him. Mr. Min blinks at him, “What? You too.”

“Oh,” Seokjin stands up straight from leaning his hands on the chair, “Alright. See you later. I’ll be back at 3:30 to go over Yoo Jae Suk’s designs.”

Mr. Min drops to his seat and sighs, rubbing his face. He takes out his phone and just stares at it for a moment.

Whatever.

He speed-dials 2. He’s shocked when he actually hears the ringing tone.

“Hello?” It’s been a nearly a week since he’s heard your voice. That’s probably the longest he’s been without speaking to you for the past, at least, 6 years.

“You finally unblocked me.” Yoongi notes. You nod although he can’t hear it. You get up from the hospital chair and move towards the window.

“Yeah.” There’s an awkward silence.

“Did you need something?”

“Jungkook is doing alright.”

“Good. Glad to hear it, Mr. Min. I hope he can replace me well enough for the time being.”

More awkward silence.

“Where do you get the coffee?” Yoongi asks, staring at the cup in hand. It’s a to-go cup, so it couldn’t have been made.

“I followed a leprechaun to the end of the rainbow.” Yoongi pauses his moments and just raises an eyebrow.

“Why are you like this?” It’s been a minute before he’s heard anything snarky from you. For the past few years, you’ve only been, Yes, Mr. Min.

“I’m currently off. I get to be like this.”

“Why’d you take off?” He hears you sigh.

“Not to be rude, but it’s really not any of your business.” He presses his lips together.

“How long are you gone?”

“As long as I need to be. But I’m not gonna lie, the more you ask, the longer I want it to be.”

Silence again.

“JP made a mistake with the tourmaline cut. We’re expediting Hestia to use their shipment. But that means using what we expected to use for –“

“Kim Taehyung and Yoo Jae Suk. And then when Microcosm pulls through, you’ll use it for your parent’s anniversary and the Met Gala.” You finish his thoughts.

“Yeah.”

“I think we should look into working with Hestia to be our second supplier. One for the beginning of the month, one for mid-month.” It’s so easy for you to come up with ideas.

“…Not bad. I’ll think about it.” You smirk, thinking back to the days he wouldn’t listen to anyone or anything.

Yoongi looks up at the clock. It’s 9:15.

“I have to go. Meeting with Bang at 9:30.”

“I know. Have a good day, Mr. Min.” He hangs up and gets up from his seat. He exhales loudly as he stretches really quick. He drinks the last bits of coffee before walking out.

~•~

Now that Mr. Min knows that you’ve stopped blocking him, it’s easier for him to text you updates than it is for him to email it.

Sending me updates is fine. But remember, Jungkook is your assistant right now. Tell him what you want. Not me.

He really needs to learn his boundaries, you think to yourself, I’ve learned mine a long time ago.

You put your phone down to look at the music program. The changes for the showcase track are complete and currently downloading. You’ll be emailing the school director right after with the new file.

“Hey Hoseok,” You lift your laptop from your lap and set it on the side table next to his head.

The bandages used to be wrapped completely around his head and under his chin, but now only his head is wrapped. His left arm is no longer wrapped, only covered in thick square bandages. But his left leg is still suspended in a cast. His bruises on his right elbow and leg are healing nicely.

“I finished the music track for your showcase. I heard from your students that Beomgyu is taking over as choreographer. But don’t worry, your student’s still miss you. You’re irreplaceable.” You smile and turn to your computer, “I’ve been working on something for you. Something for you to listen to while you sleep.” You press play and the music envelops the room.

“This is a song I wrote specifically for you. I’m calling it, Aoibhneas. I hope the joy you feel from this song will wake you up.” You smile, taking his hand in yours, no longer restricted not do so, “When you get out of here, you should make a dance to this. It will be like we’re partners again.”

You feel your phone vibrate again so you take it out of your pocket.

We’re at the point in our 2030 Self-Sustaining roadmap to look into our company running on alternative, clean energy sources. Have Jungkook research for me renewable energy sources that produce enough energy for our company to run. I want his report tomorrow by 7.

And you couldn’t tell him yourself? You raise your eyebrows. You sigh. Did he not receive your last message? You send your last message to Mr. Min for the day. Jungkook is literally right there.

Regardless, you still message Jungkook. At least coming from you, you can already give Jungkook parameters to start with; Mr. Min would just leave Jungkook dizzy.

You text Jungkook Mr. Min’s plans, giving him information on the 2030 Self-Sustaining Project, current energy output from the company, minimum energy input per month, where to start on finding the alternative energy choices, and reminding him anything that requires land, Jungkook will have to research sites to purchase to build the energy power plant with the required space. Any further stats or information on the project and the energy information on their company is written in the navy folder in the second cabinet drawer. Your key should be slipped under your keyboard.

With that, you’re done with your boss for the day. You turn off your phone and focus back on your friend.

~•~

At some point, you’ve stopped responding to Mr. Min’s texts. He tosses his phone onto the table with a frown and lean back on his chair to stretch. It’s not necessarily that he doesn’t trust Jungkook, but relying on Jungkook means he has to explain everything.

“Jungkook,” Mr. Min calls the intern assistant in, “I would like you to help me research for some clean, renewable energy sources that our company can sustain 100% on. It’s for –“

“Y/N has already given me a briefing on the 2030 Self-Sustainability Project. She explained the directive.” Jungkook cuts him off. Mr. Min just blinks at Jungkook and Jungkook bows his head, apologetic that he cut off his boss.

“Then why would she tell me to tell you…” Mr. Min looks away and mumbles under his breath. Maybe he just doesn’t trust you to explain everything…he’s been wrong before.  He looks back up to Jungkook, “Okay. I’d like the report by tomorrow morning at 7. And we’ll set up the board meeting at 10 for this vote. Go on.” Mr. Min shoos Jungkook away.

Jimin’s chat box pops up on Mr. Min’s desktop, Kim Taehyung’s frame has been removed from the mold. Do you want to come down to the workshop to see it?

Be right there. Mr. Min gets up from his seat and buttons his jacket before walking out. At the moment Mr. Min’s office doors open, Jungkook takes note and gets up to follow him.

~•~

Down at the workshop, Mr. Min and Jungkook meet up with Jimin, “How does it look?”

“It just needs polishing,” Jimin puts on gloves and holds one side of the golden frame along with a few other JP employees holding the other side, “After polishing, they’ll insert the gemstones around it.” Jimin gestures to behind another JP employee to have him hand Jimin the design sketch. Mr. Min compares the frame to the sketch.

“The tourmaline that Seokjin originally intended for the Jubilee was cut wrong. But you guys can recycle that and cut it down even smaller to fit the smaller tourmaline gems that surround the biggest one.” Mr. Min gestured back and forth between the sketch to the top of the frame.

“Good idea, boss. We’ll see if we can salvage that gem.” Jimin speaks with the employee who starts heading to the back room.

“Will this frame be completed by the deadline?” Mr. Min inquires.

“Yes. We’re actually expecting it to be complete ahead of schedule at this point since we learned that the tourmaline arrived sooner than later.”

“Boss,” the employee comes back with the gem in hand and hands it to Mr. Min. Jungkook hands Mr. Min a jeweler’s loupe for him to inspect the gem.

“Mm. Make sure the cut is proper this time.” Mr. Min hands both back to the employee.

After inspecting the frame, the three of them walk back out of the workshop.

“How long is Y/N gone?” Jimin asks as Jungkook presses the elevator button.

“I’m not sure. HR said she took a month off but that might change.” Mr. Min states, watching the elevator levels go down.

“Jungkook, you got some big shoes to fill.” Jimin smiles supportively to the man on the other side of their boss.

“I’ll do my best.” Jungkook smiles and bows his head. Jungkook’s phone rings and he takes it out of his inside pocket. While he’s speaking in whispers to whoever is over the phone, the elevator door opens. Jungkook ends his call with the person and steps into the elevator with his other two superiors, “Mr. Min, your father arrived.”

~•~

“Hello, father.” Yoongi enters the office to see his father looking at his phone, sitting comfortably on the couch in his office.

“Hi, Yoongi,” his father puts his phone in his pocket to get up and greet his son, “how’s the company moving along?”

“Well, you know about the tourmaline. We hit another snag when JP cut the tourmaline wrong for the Jubilee, but we’re able to recycle the gem for other projects so we don’t waste any tourmaline. And I’m looking into having our company sustain on our own energy production.” Yoongi updates.

“Mm,” his father pats him on the back, “I’m very proud of how you’ve built this from your own hands.”

“I’ve learned from the best.” Yoongi praises his father back.

“Yes. Like father, like son. I’ve built my own snack and food company, and you’ve built your own conglomerate company …” The way his father trails off doesn’t seem like he’s really excited about it.

“What’s going on, father?” Yoongi gestures his father to sit down on the coach, and Yoongi sits alongside him.

“Next month is your mother and my 30th anniversary. We’re both past our 50’s, it’s time we spend our time enjoying the rest of our lives. Your mother has basically asked me to step down and retire and travel the world.”

“That’s a wonderful idea, father. It’s about time you and mom get to enjoy the retired life.”

“Yes…well. If I step down, Namjoon will be the one who takes up the Chairman position…”

“As he should. He’s the CEO.” Yoongi nods in agreement to his father’s statement.

“Yes well…” there his father goes trailing off again, “…I would really rather like to have my son take up the mantle.”

Yoongi is silent for a second and blinks. He looks away and rubs his lips, “What, what are you saying, father?”

“I’m saying, I would like you to become Chairman of the board of Min Snacks.” His father looks at Yoongi.

Yoongi gets up and puts his hands in his pockets. He pivots to look at his father, “You’re telling me to leave what I’ve built to be under your shadow?”

“No, not leave. But, perhaps balance the two.”

“If I’m not giving 100% to my company, what’s the difference to that and leaving?”

“Every father wants his son to follow in his footsteps.” His father gets up to be level with his son.

“And I have,” Yoongi raises his voice slightly, “I’ve built something with my own hands. Like you. I thought you supported me to do this. What happens to my company if I leave it just to go to yours? You run an entirely different company than I do. How do you expect me to give up what I’ve raised, to come sustain something I haven’t been a part of for 10 years? And Namjoon; he is your CEO. He’s more capable than I am to take care of your company. I can never step over my friend like that.”

“I do support you. Your company is a multi-industrial, purpose-driven conglomerate. You do jewelry, technology, home goods, and real estate. You’re a brilliant man who can trailblaze in any industry. My company will be no different, and you’ve worked there before you’ve built your own. You’ve done wonderfully and it showed me that you are able to take companies and bring them to new heights.”

“None of this was ever a show for you. All of this is for me.”

“It sure felt that way when you decided to leave your father’s company and run off to start your own.” Wow. Low blow.

“Where is all of this coming from? You’ve supported me; every year, you’ve invested in my company, giving me business like I have yours.”

“Yoongi, I am very proud of the man that you have become. Truly. I, I just want you to come back to me. That’s all.”

“I’m sorry, father. But this is the most selfish thing that you’ve ever asked of me.” Yoongi turns around.

“Don’t turn your back on me. You are my son. You cannot deny me this.” His father begins raising his voice.

“No. Father. I’m not obligated to do anything. I will honor you and my mother, but honor and obedience does not mean surrendering everything I have for your wishes.”

“Well then, consider it a pay back. You wanted to create your own business from your own hands. No help. Fine. But remember when you started out your company. Eight months in, and you nearly went bankrupt. I was the one who lent you the money so that you were able to sustain for another month before you got back on your feet.”

“Wow. Really, father? Bringing skeletons out of the closet now, are we? We signed a contract where I would repay you twenty times over, and I have paid my debt five years ago. What else you’ve got?” Yoongi raises his chin. Yoongi and his father stared each other down until they heard a knock on the door.

Jungkook pops his head in; his facial expression shows that he’s heard everything outside, “Yoo Jae Suk will be here in half an hour, sir.”

Mr. Min just grunts in response and Jungkook quickly pulls his head out of the door and closes it again for their privacy.

“This conversation is not over.” His father warns Yoongi.

“Yes, it is. I’ll have Jungkook escort you to the front. He will call your driver to the front.” Yoongi buttons his jacket, gesturing his father that they both exit the room.

His father shakes his head at Yoongi before he heads out.

Mr. Min follows after and when he closes his office doors, Jungkook comes to his side, “Take my father downstairs. Call his driver to come to the front.”

“Yes, sir,” Jungkook says quietly, unsure of how to manage his boss’s distress after such an upsetting conversation.

“Get me coffee.” Mr. Min commands.

Jungkook gulps, “I don’t have anymore of that coffee, sir.” Mr. Min frowns, “How do you normally get it?”

“Y/N has a set amount provided every morning.” Strange. Without another word, Mr. Min walks away to the meeting room. Jungkook sighs, texting you.

Today will not be a good day.

~•~

You double check to make sure you’ve grabbed everything before you head out again to Hoseok’s dance school. You will be delivering the final track to the dance group as well as record the dance practice and choreographing session for Hoseok when he wakes up. The moment you step out your door, you see your boss about to knock.

“Mr. Min?” You ask, incredibly shocked. He stares at you. You’ve never had such a casual look, especially with your hair still wet, indicating that you just took a shower.

“You wouldn’t answer your phone.”

“Oh, yeah. I turned it off.” You close the door and turn around to lock it.

“I need coffee.” Your eyes widen in disbelief, “You’re kidding me.” Nothing about his expression looks like he’s kidding. Does he even joke?

“Jungkook didn’t have enough today and he told me that you get it to him every day.”

“And you really couldn’t resist coming here and demanding your staff on her days off to get a cup of coffee?”

“Today was not good, okay? Can you please just do it?” You blink in confusion. He rarely says please anymore. And more importantly, he’s here. Surely whatever happened today was bad, but you have to do this for Hoseok. Your boss can wait.

“I don’t have time for this. I have things to do, Mr. Min. You’re going to have to wait until tomorrow. I’ll get you double the amount, ok?”

“I will follow you.” Mr. Min warns.

“I dare you.” You step closer and raise your chin.

This man is incredibly busy and it’s only 2:45 in the afternoon. How he even made the time to be here is beyond you, but you don’t expect this break for him to last long, since the next month and a half will be plenty busy. You walk down the steps of your apartment complex, with your boss following your steps. You go into the complex parking lot, in which he’s unable to follow since his car is not parked with yours. Instead, he goes out to his car in the front and waits for yours to come out of the garage.

After your car peels off, he directs Yeonjun to follow. As you drive, you see his car following behind you and you click your tongue, “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

~•~

You arrive at the school and park in the visitor’s parking lot. You pay for a temporary parking permit to put on your dashboard. Yoongi gets out of his car and directs Yeonjun to do likewise and wait.

“What are you doing here?” Yoongi asks as you both walk down the corridors of the performing arts building.

“It’s none of your business.” You huff, extremely annoyed that he’s still here. You turn around stop him before you enter the dance studio, “You’re not allowed to come in here.”

“I can go anywhere I want.” Yoongi shrugs.

“No, you can’t. This is a dance college and you’re a just CEO, not king of the world. No unauthorized personnel.” Without another word, you go into the studio, making sure the door is closed behind you. His jaw slightly drops but he catches himself. He steps closer to the door to peek through the window. He sees you greeting students and speaking to who he believes must be the teacher or something.

You walk over to the corner of the A/V tower. You sit down on a stackable chair and bring out everything in all of your bags. Tripod, camera, laptop, and a whole bunch of wires. You plug your laptop into the stereo system and put headphones on, searching for something before double clicking to start music. He hears the music that begins to play and look at the students. Some of them are stretching, some are already starting to freestyle themselves to the music. You stretch yourself up to reach the camera and begin recording.

Yoongi tilts his head, observing all of your hidden talents. What connection do you have with this dance school? With this class? Are you a dancer? Probably not, otherwise, if you are helping out here, you’d be on the dance floor. He finds this to be a very strange environment of you to be in. And him. Or at least, he doesn’t expect either of you to be in.

He turns his attention to listening to the music. It has an electronic pop vibe, full of flow, synths, and a great beat. He watches you in the corner subtly bobbing your head, cracking a melancholic smile like you remember something. You look up to the camera, to make sure it’s still capturing everyone. You glance over to the window where you see Yoongi’s face staring back at you. You immediately look down and intensely stare at your music, as if you have anything else to do with it other than pressing play and pausing it when the dance class requires it.

Yoongi decides to grant you that bit of privacy, but he maintains slowly pacing in the hallway, never too far from the music. This is not coffee, but it’s surprisingly more comforting than the coffee he was chasing you for. He nearly forgets the events of today. Imagines how strange it would be for anyone who would recognize him, a CEO of one of the most famous companies in the world, to be wasting his precious time pacing in a dance school hallway.

This song is repeated at least three times and Yoongi checks back into the window when music stops playing. You’re speaking to the leader, nodding along to whatever he’s saying, reminding Yoongi of the earlier days of the company where you’re just sitting in a chair listening to his demands with your laptop on your lap instead of a desk. He smiles.

He snaps out of his memories when he hears another song start playing. It has a strong, marching band beat that translates through the entire hip hop track. He’s mesmerized by the strong footwork of the whole dance group. Now he regrets not watching the previous dance from the first song. Perhaps he should think about investing in the performance arts industry as well. It’d be a shame for art to not shine.

The group practices another two songs for however many repeated times. By the time Yoongi realizes that the show is over, it’s dark. He looks around; the hallway used to be bright on both sides from the natural light spilling in from outside, but now he’s just a random business creep, who’s unrelated to the school at all, standing in a darkened hallway. He sees the students beginning to make their way to the exit and he backs up to the other side of the hallway to let them through. Despite the strange looks some of them give him, everyone still just passes by, chatting about where they should go to eat. A few of them do take second glances though, and whisper to their companions though.

Most of the students have filed out so Yoongi steps closer again to the door, now staying open wide from one of the students putting down the door stopper. He overhears the conversation that you and the leader have while you pack up.

“You didn’t have to do this, you know, Y/N? You can just send us the playlist if you’re busy.”

“Yeah, well I’m also doing this for Hoseok. He’d want to be able to see how practice goes.” Hoseok?

“You’re too nice, Y/N. Hoseok is lucky.” Who’s Hoseok? The two of you speak in low tones after that statement and the guy nods, “Oh, my bad.”

“Anyways, I gotta go now. I’ll see you guys on Tuesday.” You gather all of your bags and stand up, nodding ‘bye’ to the leader and head out. You nearly stop your tracks when you see your boss still standing there.

“Why are you still here?” Why am I still here?

“I’m waiting for my coffee.” He only remembers as he says those words.

You roll your eyes with an incredulous look.

“Why do you do this?” Yoongi asks as you two walk out.

“Not your business.”

“Please stop saying that. It’s really annoying.”

“Imagine how annoying it is when your boss unexpectedly keeps trying to invade your personal time with business requests through texts, calls, and emails. Knocking on your house all for a cup of coffee. Following you to a dance school and standing outside the door for four hours all for a cup of coffee.” Has it really been four hours?

“Seriously, Jungkook is a good assistant, I swear that boy can do anything you tell him.”

“Except get me my coffee when I need it.” You sigh at his words. You put your bags in the car, “Go home. You’ll get your coffee.”

“How can I make sure you keep to that?”

“I promise. If I don’t get you coffee tonight, you’ll probably threaten to fire me too.”

“…And you couldn’t have said all this before I followed you here?”

~•~

Yoongi gets home, undoing his tie and plops on the couch. He can’t get the music he’s heard tonight out of his head. I forgot to ask Y/N about the music. Perhaps you can give him a copy. Judging by the way you handled the music tonight, you must have been the creator. That’s an interesting piece of information he collected tonight.

But this makes him all the more confused. How do you go from music production to CEO assistant?

Seokjin did once say that this was not the original career choice for her.

His attention turns to the clock, wondering when you’ll show up with the coffee. He’s pretty hungry too.

At his thoughts of dinner, his doorbell rings. He jumps up and nearly jogs over to get it, waving away Yeonjun who was on his way to get the door. Yeonjun slows his tracks and backs up.

Yoongi opens the door. There you are with four cups of large coffees in a to-go tray, “One for every hour in that hallway.” Well you’ve certainly made up for wasting his time.

“Have-have you eaten yet?” He asks. You slightly tilt your head and raise an eyebrow at his stutter.

“I literally hopped in the car, got you your coffee, and came here. You think I ate?” He gives you a look for your sarcasm, “Do you want dinner?”

“No thank you, Mr. Min. You enjoy your night.” You turn around about to leave but he stops you again.

“The music tonight…can you give me a copy?” For the first tonight, you wear an expression he’s never seen you look at him before. Your lips slightly twitch its corners. Your eyes widen in amusement and excitement. In addition, your eyes hold the emotion of relief and gratitude. He can’t explain why, but it may have been his favorite expression you’ve ever shown him.

“Yeah. I can get it to you tomorrow.”

“And uh, who’s that Hoseok guy the leader mentioned?”

You sigh and drop your head, “Back to that privacy issue. Really, I never took you for someone so interested in personal information. I gave you four coffees. It doesn’t mean I’m excusing your lack of excuse for following me all day. You’ve been very intrusive for the past week and a half. And this is kind of extreme. I’m off and I have a replacement. You’re covered, alright? Jungkook will get more coffee from now on, okay?”

“Look,” Yoongi’s fire in the pit of his stomach starts rising, “My assistant decides to drop everything with no notice whatsoever and take a month, if not more off. You were the first one who was unprofessional about this whole thing in the first place. And then, you block everything I send you, and barely respond to any of the business inquiries. There’s so many things going on right now, I’ve never seen you so irresponsible for leaving right now.”

“No, Mr. Min. There is no labor law that requires me to provide an answer to the reason for my PTO or sabbatical if I choose to do so. In fact, I’m sure it’s reverse; there has to be some sort of labor law in regard to you trying to make me work during my days off. I’m not having that type of privacy invasion. And I’ve done everything in my power to make sure other people can cover the job that I’m taking a break from.”

“So, it’s a break. What is it? You feel overworked now? I thought you were better than that. Are you using this break to make some sort of statement? Or you’ve got a boyfriend to cater needs to? Is this Hoseok guy getting in the way of your professionalism?”

“Shut up, Yoongi,” He stops for a moment, forgetting the last time he’s heard his name come from your mouth, “Hoseok’s in a coma because of me, so I’m helping him. Are you happy now?” You swiftly turn around and jump in your car, every motion is loud and angry, and he can feel the shiver up his spine.

You peel off into the night and he looks down at his four coffees in shame. The steam is barely rising from the lips of each lid.

You sigh as you look at the messages after you turned your phone back on. Despite not blocking him anymore, you still felt the need to give yourself a break from his demands throughout the day. In addition to these texts, you’ve received 8 calls from Mr. Min, 3 from Jungkook, and 2 from Seokjin. You should have known. Mr. Min may be a little bit pushy lately, but it is understandable for him to feel a little unsteady.

You’ve been by his side for at least 6 years; 8 if you count the years you weren’t only his assistant, but Seokjin’s intern as well. You leaving all of the sudden is like him standing on a four-legged chair for so long and one of the legs has been hacked off with no warning. So, not that he is right in his way to bombard you on your PTO, but you can understand if something like this might make him feel desperate to get that leg back.

In addition to that, his father. Over the years, you always knew that his father supported his work, but every time you see his father, you can sense some form of bitterness. It’s alarming, but not to the point where you feel completely blindsided.

It’s no wonder his coffee needs were high last night. You do feel bad for the day he had, but not to the point of letting go of his actions and behavior tonight. The fact that he brought up Hoseok was out of bounds, never mind the fact that he wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place anyways.

You go to your music production desk and look for another blank usb. You tend to keep a bundle of small storage USBs for anyone interested in a copy of your music, provided of course, that the file is encrypted and there’s no chance for others to steal the music. The only factor of Mr. Min’s behavior tonight worth redeeming is the fact that he was interested in your music.

Say what you will about the guy, but he’s the most innovative, tasteful person you know. If he has interest in your music, it means your music means something of value. Despite your career ended up in a different direction, his take to your music tells you that your talent is not depreciated.

With everything going on in the past week and a half, this is the first time that you feel your heart feels just a tiny bit lighter. All because someone likes your music. And not just anyone. He is Min Yoongi: youngest of the top 100 most influential people in the world.

That’s worth a copy of your music and an extra 10 cups of coffee for his day no matter how upset you were by his comment.

~•~

Normally Yoongi can drink however many coffee cups he wants and still fall asleep in the same hour. It’s like a superpower. No, it’s more like he just got used to the caffeine. At this point, it’s a habit he’s conditioned to depend on; in another word: addiction. But last night was one of his harder nights to pass.

His conversation with his father kept replaying in his mind over and over again. And when he tosses and turns, the end of your conversation with him is replayed in his mind.

It’s not necessarily that anything his father can do or say to change his mind, as he is his own man, but he’s more upset that his father wanted him to leave his own company at all. It wasn’t like his father didn’t want him to leave in the first place. When Yoongi first started working in his father’s company, he was just a project manager. He did a pretty good job. But his father always pushed his achievements of building his own company from the ground up; honestly, it wasn’t very subtle. Yoongi knew his father wanted him to do something with his talents the same way his father did. And he took to that very seriously. And now his father decides his son should come back to the company he left?

And you.

He’s never felt more of a jerk towards you than he did last night. It was completely left field of him to come at you, especially about your personal life. And it is because of his selfish intrusions have led you to reveal a very dark and personal struggle. It is completely your business; regardless of who this Hoseok person is in your life. Regardless of the man’s identity, it is completely reasonable for you to be gone. And now that Yoongi knows, he should just back off and let you deal with your personal matters. As a boss, it is his job to not only be conscious of business development, but also make sure that his employees are in a healthy state to work.

Despite these thoughts going through his head all night, considering himself to have made peace with the events of yesterday, he still tossed and turned until 3am; and for three hours, all he had was some very light and shallow rest before his biological clock told him it is the time he regularly wakes up.

Perhaps he can take the day off. Never mind. Despite it to be Sunday, he was still Mr. Min; and Mr. Min has several virtual meetings to go through with a few of his employees and clients. But lucky for him, he can work from home on Sundays. Jungkook will be sending him the energy report soon but he just might tell Jungkook to postpone the meeting with the board about the energy project until Monday.

Mr. Min rolls out of bed, not necessarily because he’s ready to start the day, but there’s no point in him staying in bed any longer.

He drags himself to the kitchen and is a little stunned to see five egg carton tray cup holders, each filled with 4 large cups of coffee sitting on his kitchen island. Next to the last tray, he sees an index card sized card note with a USB on top, Double the amount. He recalls yesterday that you did promise to give him double the amount today. But it’s only 6am right now. He wonders when did you come in and how did he not hear you? Because the cups are still steaming.

~•~

Yesterday the Jubilee had finished all the pieces and put them into place. Today is the day the Princess will come grab the final product so Mr. Min and Jungkook goes down to the workshop to inspect the piece.

When they arrive, Seokjin is already there checking every side and cut of the Jubilee.

“These crown jewels are perfect.” Seokjin carefully picks up one of the pieces with his white gloves to show Mr. Min the Jubilee. Someone hands Mr. Min white gloves so that he can also inspect it himself.

“Very good. Give it a last-minute polish and then bring it up to the presentation room.” Seokjin nods to Mr. Min’s directives and takes the Jubilee back.

The presentation room is meant for high-profile clients to see the merchandise in all its glory as well as a room for the seasonal showcase of new products; and for this company with its prominence, it’s nearly a ballroom.

Mr. Min and Seokjin stand next to the showcase glass with the Jubilee in it. The princess with her security entourage enters the showcase room in all her royal honor. Mr. Min and Seokjin bow and maintain their position until she walks up to them.

“Princess, may I present, your Queen’s Jubilee.” Seokjin gestures to the showcase behind him and the princess steps forward to marvel at the jewels. The Jubilee gift the Princess has requested is nearly every jewelry and accessory imaginable along with a new set of crown jewels, that means the crown, the scepter, and the orb; all a complete set for the Queen to adorn on the day of the ceremony this Saturday. Nearly every inch of each piece is encrusted with jewels and the silver and ceramics have been molded to resemble a dragon wrapping the orb and scepter. In addition to the tourmaline and topaz that the Princess has specifically chosen to decorate the flower design to signify their national flower, the blue poppy, they’ve also added diamonds, rubies, and emeralds; all to signify the colors of their prayer flags as a symbol of blessings for the Queen. In the back, is a silver plate with the number 25 in Tibetan to signify her Silver Jubilee mark.

“I am very satisfied. I praise your employees for their wonderful design and craftmanship.” The princess smiles at Mr. Min in which he bows again to accept her compliments.

“I’m delighted to hear your satisfaction.” Mr. Min replies.

They walk over to the table nearby which her security guards prop up the suitcases full of cash for the price of the Jubilee.

“Our resident gem expert, Jung Ye Rin, and our high-profile jeweler security, Kwon Soon Young, will be accompanying your jewels back to Bhutan, until after the ceremony when the jewels will be secured.” Mr. Min explains to the Princess as they watch his two employees carefully take the Jubilee pieces out of the showcase and into their travel storage.

“Seokjin will come on Friday and attend the ceremony as well.”

“As will you?” The Princess asks, “and if you come earlier, I can give you a tour around my country.” Well, he can’t really say no to a personal invite.

“Of course, Princess. I will be attending the ceremony, unfortunately, due to the demands of my company, I am unable to stay long. Seokjin and I will be there the same time. We are both coming down on Friday and leaving after the ceremony.” The princess nods in understanding, however her distant looks does show a hint of disappointment.

“Well, I hope when you attend, we can still spend the most time together.” A princess has dignity, but never gives up.

~•~

“Oh my God. A princess really likes you.” Seokjin laughs as he claps the back of his friend.

“Why are you so excited?” Yoongi shrugs him off as he replies to an email from one of his associates.

“I don’t know. Maybe because it’s you that a princess is interested in? Maybe because it’s like a drama?...Okay, yeah. It’s because it’s you. Yes, yes. You are one of the most eligible bachelors in South Korea, if not the top one, but…come on, did you ever think you’d catch the eye of a princess?” Seokjin walks around the table to get back to his chair.

“No.”

“Exactly! You’re you! You have no romance at all. No romance, charisma, or charm.” Seokjin throws his hands up and collapses on the chair with dramatic flair. Yoongi turns his head to look at Seokjin. “For the ladies, of course.” Seokjin quickly adds.

“Not because I have no confidence in myself, but I simply do not imagine these things in my downtime.”

“What downtime?”

“Exactly.”

~•~

Since your last lesson of turning off your phone, you choose to simply silent it for the sake of dance practice. At the end of the dance practice, you put away your equipment and check your phone. Nothing too urgent; just Jungkook giving you a few updates.

For the past two days, Mr. Min has been pretty quiet with his demands. Guess there’s a silver lining to telling him some personal matters.

While you’re gone from work, you sort of fell into a routine. Get up, do some work-related updates. go visit Hoseok during the day, play the practice videos, come home, take a shower, feed Yeontan, go to the dance university, dj for dance practice as well as record their dance practice, come home, get dinner and sleep. Not that doing things for Hoseok wasn’t great, you just start to feel like routine isn’t for you. At least work gave you a new challenge every day.

With this realization in mind, you chose to do something out of routine. As much as Hoseok is resting, you might as well use your PTO for yourself as well. Some self-care, some relaxation. You should commit at least one part of each day for yourself. Today will be eating dinner outside and going to a bookstore. You haven’t picked up any voluntary reading for a while now.

~•~

This happens to be one of your most favorite pastimes. Earl Grey tea, noise-cancelling headphones, going to a well-lit bookstore to pick up some good reads, or read while you’re there.

As you slowly go down the aisle, your peripheral vision has a familiar face bent down at an angle to get your attention.

“Y/N?”

“Namjoon!” You pause your music and pull your headphones down to rest on your shoulders.

“You look like a female version of Yoongi for a moment.” Namjoon comments with a smile. You curve one side of your lips, “Please.”

“I’m, like, half serious.”

“Haven’t seen you in nearly two years. What are you up to?” You change the subject. You don’t really see the compliment of being similar to Mr. Min.

“What are any of us doing here?” He raises his eyebrows in a playful manner.

“Are you talking about in the bookstore or are you having an existential crisis?”

“I could be both.” You shake your head and chuckle, “How are you, Namjoon?”

“Things are alright. I’m just chilling. Waiting for Seokjin and Yoongi to grab some dinner.”

“Nice.” You recall Jungkook spilling the tea on Senior Min wanting Mr. Min to be the chairman. Doing so means Namjoon and all his hard work is pushed away. You feel so much pity for Namjoon, but knowing Mr. Min, he would never let that happen, so you shouldn’t feel too nervous for Namjoon.

Speaking of your boss…

You see Seokjin and Mr. Min’s head bobbing their way down the aisle of books. Seokjin looks excited to see you as he makes a gentle wave. Mr. Min doesn’t really express much, but by the looks of his eyes, he’s surprised to see you.

“Y/N! How’s your break going?” Seokjin asks as he walks up to you. Namjoon looks at you, realizing why he felt like it was such a surprise to see you out and about so early in the evening. Normally at this hour, you’d still be in the office, hence you being here proves you’re currently off.

“Ah. Well, doing stuff…” You trail off. Seokjin immediately recognizes your boundaries, unlike some people.

“Well, then. We won’t disturb your PTO. See you later!” Seokjin guides his friends away and you wave them goodbye.

What’s it like for other people when they see their boss in public?

~•~

“I knew I felt like something was weird! I haven’t seen her in so long because she’s always working late.” Namjoon exclaims, facepalming his forehead.

“Yeah, I don’t think I’ve really seen her ever take a vacation day. Unless she capped her hours and she’s forced to.” Seokjin remarks.

Yoongi does his best to stay silent on the matter. Knowing what he knows, he doesn’t want to be a part of the conversation. She didn’t want to let him know why she called out, let alone, letting other people know.

He was surprised to see you though. He would have thought that you would have wanted to stay beside your…friend or whoever he is to you, for the duration of your time. Also, he was…almost a little…scared? To see you. No, not scared. But something else he can’t point out. Since you outed your reasons to him, he felt the importance to stay away and let you deal with your things; and despite the fact that you got him coffee the very next day, doesn’t mean you weren’t still mad. He doesn’t know if you’re still mad.

“Namjoon,” Yoongi turns to his friend to change the subject, “Hey, so I need to tell you something.”

Yoongi explains to him what happened on Saturday with his father’s conversation. All the while Namjoon doesn’t look at Yoongi, taking in what he’s saying. Seokjin inhales sharply, unsure how Namjoon will react.

“Thanks,” Namjoon grimaces, “I appreciate your honestly.” No one said anything for a minute, just letting the atmosphere sink in. Namjoon sits up and stretches his back, “It’s not really surprising; it’s understandable, if you try to think like a father, I guess. Maybe. But I’m still disappointed.”

“That’s understandable.” Seokjin nods.

“Don’t worry about me though. Maybe it’s just time for me to recognize where I can be valued more. How about you, what are you going to do?” Namjoon looks at Yoongi.

“I’m not going back. That’s all I know.” Yoongi knocks back a shot of soju. Namjoon nods expectantly.

“So Namjoon, guess what? We met the Princess today again.” Seokjin wiggles his eyebrows to change the subject. Namjoon grins and looks at Yoongi.

“So…has she asked for your hand in marriage yet?” Seokjin and Namjoon laugh with each other while Yoongi just shakes his head.

“I hate you all.”

“Hey, man. She’s beautiful and nice.”

“And she’s in another country.” Yoongi reminds his friends.

“So, are you saying if she weren’t in another country, you’d ask her out?”

“No. She’s a princess. She’s got duties and I’m not cut out for royal business.”

“Okay so if she was a normal citizen in South Korea, you’d ask her out?” Namjoon inquires.

“No.”

“Come on, man. Real talk. What kind of woman do you want?” Seokjin leans in.

“No.”

“Oh! Okay, I’m sorry. What kind of man do you want?”

“I don’t have time for a woman. And even if I had any time at all, there’s no woman that can keep up with what I do.” At that, Seokjin raises his eyebrows and bites back a grin. He glances behind Yoongi at Namjoon who shares the same look. Seokjin tries to hide his grin and subtly shakes his head.

“Okay. So, someone who keeps up with your schedule, knows your problems and can share your burdens, and has an in-depth understanding of your quirks. Well damn. If that’s the case, and she’s all up in your business, how are you going give in the relationship? Can’t just expect someone to hang around all for your own sake. Women needs love, care, protection, and affect – “

“And how would you know? You don’t date either.” Yoongi shoots back

“I date!” Seokjin protests.

Namjoon waves him off. “Hey, focus,” Namjoon turns back to Yoongi, “He makes a point though. You’d be a pretty lousy boyfriend if all you want is someone to trail you and be your assistant.”

“I don’t want an assistant.” Yoongi raises his voice, much louder than intended.

“Okay. Great. So how are you going to prevent that? Because it doesn’t sound like you’d do much for her.”

“You guys are bringing up a nonexistent girlfriend for me right now. How did we even get here?” Yoongi urges for the subject to drop.

“Because one day you’re going to actually discover who she is. And when you do, you’re going to realize how much of an asshole you can be to her if you’re not careful.”

~•~

Yoongi takes off his jacket and plops on the couch; his face is a little red from the amount of soju he had tonight.

He’s bothered by Namjoon and Seokjin’s chastising; like he’d really be a bad boyfriend. Not like there’s even someone able to keep up with him. You are, but you’re his assistant; and he’s already made a point that he’s not trying to date an assistant. No offense to you, but the dynamics between you and him is boss and assistant; it’s not a realistic dynamic for a couple before they are a couple.

As these thoughts run through his head, he feels maybe a little bit of an asshole; making it sound like it’s a matter of class. He tries to rephrase himself in his head. Besides. It’s not like he’s the highest and mightiest of them all. He has a princess chasing after him and he doesn’t feel worthy. And she’s not his type.

Normally in public events, when he knows he’s bound to run into some ladies who aren’t his type, you’re there to fan them away. Don’t know how you do it, but with you by his side, he worries so much less about most things.

These thoughts bring him to think about the Jubilee ceremony coming up. You’re not there to shoo her away, although that’d be pretty interesting to see how you help him reject a princess.

He looks to his phone but shakes the thoughts out of his head just as fast. He can’t bother you at a time like this. He kind of promised himself to give you the space you need right now. It’s the least he can do.

Your routine is getting increasingly hazy. To be honest, the most interesting parts of your day are when you are tending to Jungkook’s inquiries. Now that you’re more active in replying to Jungkook, Seokjin and Mr. Min reach out to you less. Seokjin doesn’t have to be a peacemaker anymore, and Mr. Min has resolved with himself that he needs to give you the space that you require.

Of course, you don’t mind being around Hoseok’s bedside all day. Yes, hospitals are uncomfortable and Hoseok is still in a coma, but these things are outside of your control right now; you’re rather flexible with uncomfortable situations, all thanks to Mr. Min’s demands. Your patience, however, is tested; not with Hoseok, but just with the routine. You do give yourself a little more self-care routine lately though. Taking baths, cooking at home, cleaning yours and Hoseok’s home, taking care of Yeontan, going to a bookstore.

Yeontan isn’t allowed to roam around the hospital, but you have been able to sneak him in your bag a couple times. Whenever Yeontan sees Hoseok in the hospital bed, he leaps from your arms so quick to lick his hands. You’re always scrambling to pull him back just in case Yeontan tries to jump on him. It’s understandable, with all the time Hoseok takes care of Yeontan, Yeontan low-key likes him more than he likes you.

You just get home from walking Yeontan. Hoseok’s class has rehearsal at 6pm. You have time to take a shower before heading over. You’re about to head into the shower but your phone lights up with a call. It’s Jungkook.

You sigh and sit on the lid of your toilet seat in your towel. The rehearsal is at 6pm and generally lasts for an 3 hours. Right now, is 4:45pm. You still need to shower and head over there. Jungkook doesn’t usually call you for information unless it’s pretty urgent.

“Hello?” You lift your head and brush your hair back. You hear Jungkook take a slow breath before speaking.

“Um. Hey…Y/N…” Oh no.

“Jungkook…You sound terrible.” Your hair falls back into place as your hand leaves your hair.

“Yeah…um…I might be sick…” You bite your lip and touch the bridge of your nose.

“Are you okay?”

“It’s…um, food poisoning, I think.” Oh jeez.

“Mr. Min’s flight to Bhutan is tonight…” You get up and start pacing in your bathroom, however small. The fuzziness of your shower mat started to scratch as you graze the bottom of your foot back and forth on it.

“Yeah…” You cover the mic of your phone and sigh.

“Jungkook, get some rest. I’ll handle it.”

“I’m really sorry about this.”

“No, Jungkook, it’s okay. These things are out of our control. Just focus on getting better right now, okay? Do you need anything? I can drop by and bring you some medicine from the drugstore.” You put Jungkook on speaker as you quickly started ordering medicine from a drugstore for pickup.

“No, my roommates’ got me covered over here. But I do have stuff from your checklist that needs to be brought to Bhutan with Mr. Min.”

“Right. Okay. I’ll stop by for them in a bit.”

“Okay…I’m really sorry.”

You shake your head and held the phone near your mouth, “Jungkook, stop. Mr. Min will be fine. I’ll be fine. You’ll be fine. We’re all fine. Everything will be fine, okay?” It came out a little harsher than you intend. By no means are you mad at Jungkook for ruining your PTO like this; really, if anything, you’re concerned for the kid. You hope he lets this go and just focuses on getting better.

“…Okay…”

“Alright. I’ll see you in a bit. I’ll text you when I’m outside your place.”

“Thanks.” After you hang up, you step into the shower and think of a game plan. You will not break your one-sided promise to Hoseok to record his rehearsal and DJ. But Mr. Min has never been out of the country without an assistant. It’s too bad you don’t have a backup for Jungkook; and anyone you can come up with as a plan C for you and Jungkook is probably ill-prepared to go out of the country at such a late notice. Technically, you are too. But you have some emergency travel kits for times like these. It’s terrible that you don’t have emergency kits for actual emergency trauma.

The moment you step out of the shower, you call Jiwoo, an old friend who used to take classes with you in music production. She actually lives pretty close to Hoseok’s university.

While you confirm Jiwoo with the favor, you grab your emergency travel kits and your suitcase. Tomorrow is the Jubilee so you’ll have to pack some extra nice clothes to meet royalty. When you and Mr. Min arrive, you’ll be expected to find a Kira for you and a Kho for him and Seokjin to wear to the Jubilee ceremony.

Yeontan barks at your feet and you remember your dog will be without you or Hoseok for the weekend. You quickly check his automatic dog food and water dispenser; enough to last the weekend. Yeontan doesn’t have any more painkillers to take, so he’s all good on that end. For times like these, you wouldn’t be able to walk him, but you have some indoor dog potty trays you can set up in the bathroom for him. You also have security cameras at home to constantly check in on him. When Jiwoo stops by for your gear, you’ll drop an extra key for her in case anything happens.

Jungkook has already transferred the flight ticket to your name, so you’ll be leaving Seoul with Mr. Min at 9:05pm. With the quick layover in Bangkok, you be arriving in Bhutan a little after 6 in the morning.

After Jiwoo picks up your stuff, you’ll Uber to Jungkook’s to grab his checklist items. The checklist was one of the documents you’ve prepared for Jungkook for when Mr. Min travels anywhere. Not only do you prepare a checklist Jungkook needs to prepare for Mr. Min, but also what you, or Jungkook, would need to pack in order to assist Mr. Min while you guys travel with him.

And Jungkook already says he’s covered, but you remember to grab some extra medicine you have at home to give him since you cancelled your pickup order. It never hurts to have extra.

As you scramble to pack your suitcase as quick as you can, you catch yourself smiling. Now this, is productive.

~•~

The moment Mr. Min arrives to the airport, he scans the small crowd for Jungkook, but instead he sees you walking towards him with a suitcase.

“Y/N?”

“Hey. Jungkook’s sick so I’ll be assisting you for the trip.” Without another word, you stretch out your hand for his suitcase.

“Why didn’t Jungkook tell him you guys were switching? Why didn’t you tell me you guys were switching?”

“Give the kid a break. When I stopped by his place, he was already knocked out by his medicine. And I didn’t tell you because I stepped in last minute. I didn’t have much prep time either and you’re covered with an assistant either way,” you hand him a thermos, “my conciliatory gift.”

After he hands you his suitcase, he goes over to the sitting area. Across the lobby, he watches you check in your baggage as he sips his coffee. He swears under his breath, “What is this sorcery?”

A mother and child come over to the sitting area and the mother sits two seats away from Yoongi as she digs through her purse. The child rocks back and forth on her heels, watching her mom before glancing over at Yoongi. Yoongi smiles and winks at the kid. The kid grins and leans forward to drop the top half of her body in her mother’s lap and turns her head away from Yoongi. Her mother quietly scolds her blocking her view of her bag.

As the mother and child walk away, the child waves bye to the man in the well-tailored suit, which he waves back with a smile.

“You looked like a creep.” You said when you walk back to him.

“Weren’t you busy checking in our bags?” He uncrossed his legs and stood up.

“You choose, while you think no one is watching you, to be a creep? That’s extra creepy.” You mutter, turning around to lead him towards the terminal. He takes two quick steps to catch up to you.

“You’re the one checking me out while you’re supposed to be checking the bags. Who’s the creep now?”

"Please change your wording.”

“So, you don’t deny?”

“Oh my God.”

This doesn’t feel professional. Yoongi shakes his head mentally. That must be one of the cringiest things he’s ever said to you, or to anyone; this memory will be one of those that will keep him up at night for the next 50 years. He blames the coffee.

Wow, that was not professional. You felt a slight shiver in your spine. Luckily, no one can tell because you’re walking.

~•~

Once you two take your seats, you order a glass of wine so Yoongi can sleep through the flight and take out your laptop to review the logistics and schedule once you land. Your particular airline has those fancy first class seats where each person has a separate reclining seat, however yours are still connected to each other. He always gets the window seat so you take the aisle.

"So…” Yoongi peers out of the window so he doesn’t have to look at you, “your personal reasons for taking leave can put on pause for the weekend?” You opened your mouth to reply, but the flight attendant just passed the glass of wine to you. You place his wine glass on his table and lean back in your chair.

“Technically, it can’t.” You type your password to access your computer.

“Thank you for taking your time for this, then.” You simply nod, although you know he’s not looking.

“Drink your wine. We have a long flight.” Yoongi glances back at you before taking down his entire glass of wine and reclining. He opens one eye when he hears shifting in your seat as you slide a small privacy screen closed between you two.

~•~

To Mr. Min, the worst part of travelling is the travelling itself. Getting woken up in the middle of the night for the layover, napping for 2 hours, and then getting back on a plane, travelling an extra 3 hours, waking up to get off the plane, and due to their destination’s rural area, the car ride to the hotel for early morning Bhutan in the Spring was bumpy, loud, and cold.

Of course, you prepared coffee for him at every part he was awake for, but it tasted different. You warned him, because you guys are out of the country, he won’t be getting his normal coffee; what you have is “the travel version”. This was...an adequate substitute. But when he gets back, the first thing he’s ordering is that coffee.

By the time you reach the hotel, it was about 7am. The Jubilee ceremony wasn’t until 5pm. Mr. Min dismisses you to your own room to rest.

You are eager to relax. You can’t conk out the same way he does on a flight. Flying was always painful, even if you stayed in leggings or lounge pants for the duration. You can’t drink wine like him because you need to wake up and be alert before him. You only got 3 and a half hours of sleep for the entire time; if you can even call it that.

The hotel you selected was the grandest one you could find within the city; for Mr. Min’s best, of course. He definitely prefers to travel in luxury, not that you’re complaining. Everything you see was wood, glass, and natural light. Your bathroom is huge; the ones with the soaking tub inside the shower. The view overlooks the edge of the mountain.

You immediately plop on the bed and moan at the cold, soft cotton luring you in as one of their own. Despite the sheets luring you into their promise of comfort, you negotiate your return to them after you force yourself to turn to the side to grab your phone from your bag next to your bed. The alarm is set to 8:30am. If it were any other Saturday, you and Mr. Min would be sleeping in until you had to go back to South Korea. But this is a business trip; knowing Mr. Min, he will want a debrief at 9.

~•~

After you woke up, you shower and get dressed. At 8:50, on the dot, Mr. Min calls you to his room for a debrief in 10 minutes.

When you enter his room, he’s already sitting at his table with breakfast, but without hotel-served coffee because there you go, placing his custom coffee by his food.

“Good morning Mr. Min. I’ve already contacted Seokjin, he’s on his way to your room.” Mr. Min simply grunts as he takes his breakfast coffee. Definitely can’t call his first coffee of the day, because since midnight till now, he’s had 4.

Seokjin knocks on the door and after he settles down, you order breakfast for him and coffee for yourself through room service.

“The Jubilee ceremony is at 5pm. Prior, the Princess requests us to have lunch with her with the Prince at 12pm so we’ll leave here at 11:30am. At 2pm, I will pick up our traditional outfits for formal occasions for the three of us. You two will go directly to the Denchencholing Palace with the Princess while I pick them up because both Prince and Princess want to secure and check the jewels. There, the Prince and Princess will also help us coordinate a meet with the priest who presents the jewels to the Queen. Ye Rin and Soon Young are already aware of the logistics and I’ve previously already sent them their access badge. Here are ours.” You pass both Seokjin and Mr. Min their access badge when accompanying the royalty.

“The Princess and Prince will debrief us during lunch about how the ceremony will go.”

“When’s the end of the ceremony?” Mr. Min asks.

“The festivities is expected to officially end at midnight, but we don’t need to be there any later than 10. Our flight will leave tomorrow at 9am.” You answer.

“Wow, Yoongi, you’re so eager to leave. I know someone here who’s dying to have you stay.” Seokjin teases.

“Don’t.” Mr. Min warns Seokjin as he places his badge in his inside pocket.

Start from the beginning | Last Chapter

A/N: I tried researching on Jubilee celebrations in Bhutan, because I tend to want accuracy in my stories so they can be realistic, however Bhutan is small and relatively closed off from the rest of the world. I got some great sources, but nothing complete so this may end up looking like a very westernized and/or fake celebration…

“Prince and Princess, Mr. Min is here with his entourage.” Bhutan security announces Mr. Min, Seokjin, and you into the private dining room of a restaurant near the palace.

“Mr. Min, it’s wonderful to see you again”, the Princess gets up to greet Mr. Min.

“Yes. Hello, Princess Jamphel. You remember Seokjin and Y/N.” Mr. Min gestures to you and his best friend by his side. The Princess greets you and Seokjin as well.

“This is my brother, Prince Loday. He did not accompany me to meet you the first time because he was working on other arrangements for other guests who are coming in from out of the country as well.

“Please sit, we have the chef recommended lunch here.” Mr. Min is led to his seat next to the princess on her left, you on his right. Seokjin sits next to the Prince.

Without any prompts or gestures, the food is brought in bronze plates by servants lined up as strict as the military. Perhaps it’s because Mr. Min and Seokjin have already eaten breakfast and you only had coffee so far, because you’re trying your hardest not to scarf down the food and eating with as much decorum as you can muster in front of royalty, while Seokjin and Mr. Min take their time to adjust to a different culture’s taste.

Despite most of your focus is on how scrumptious the food is, you’re still listening to the conversation; organizing the information in your head that the Prince and Princess is giving to the men, regarding culture and the process of the ceremony. You already memorized it all on the plane ride here, and debriefed your employer and his colleague. However, you’re pretty sure they both need a refresher; Seokjin because he generally requires 2-3 times to retain large amounts of information and Mr. Min because you can tell by the twitch in his hands that he is missing his lunch coffee and he needs a distraction. Seriously, this man may need to go to rehab for his caffeine addiction.

“Do you have any questions, Mr. Min? Mr. Kim?” The princesses brings her gaze towards Mr. Min and smiles at him.  Mr. Min nearly twitches as he smiles back at the princess and politely says, “I believe your information has been very thorough. It sounds like a wonderful experience; I’m very grateful that I get to witness this myself.”

“Absolutely. It’s not every day Bhutan celebrates a queen’s Jubilee.” The prince moves to a new subject, “Speaking of which, my sister showed me some pictures of the queen’s gifts. I must say, my sister made a wonderful choice to have the biggest player in the gemstone industry to be assigned to the task. My sister has always been a big fan of your work and she really wanted to meet you for a long time. She may be a princess, but you are her celebrity.”

The princess shoots a sisterly warning look towards her brother as he laughs it off. Seokjin is attempting to hide his shit-eating grin as he tips his glass back towards his lips and shoots his own look to his friend. Mr. Min’s hand retreated to his lap as he twitched hand even more. Seokjin is dead to him for the rest of the lunch now. Since you are clearly his only confidante in this situation, he resorts to having you break the tension. Mr. Min lightly kicks your foot, almost catching you off guard.

“Prince Loday, Princess Jamphel, I believe I read somewhere that your queen has been extremely forward thinking in solving the environmental issues within your country for the past 8 years, is that true?” Seokjin smirks at you because he knows Mr. Min put you to it to change the subject. The princess doesn’t look to mad at that either; quite relieved towards you actually.

“Yes!” The princess immediately jumps in to the conversation before her brother could chime in. Enough of this teasing; her mother has made some very important feats to her country.

“Unfortunately, our country being where it is, is at risk of being severely affected by global warming: forest degradation, soil moisture, and crop diversity, to name a few. My mother has been in diplomatic business trips to discuss with the United Nations for an environmental support program. We are aiming to implement a 2030 long-term vision strategy with the UN assisting us. My mother is very ambitious, she has been researching passionately, mainly in water resources for rural, urban areas.”

“That’s quite impressive. I do believe our company is also looking into self-sustaining energy by 2030 as well, but nothing as remarkable as leading a whole country through environmental issues. Congratulations to your mother. She’s an inspiration for making such a vital footprint for environmental wellbeing within Bhutan.” You exchange with Princess Jamphel. Of all the overarching projects you get to work with, self-sustaining energy has been a very interesting project for you.

“Y/N, please make a note to organize a sizable donation to Bhutan on behalf of Genius Design.” Mr. Min attempts to speak subtly to you, as it’s not supposed to be an announcement, but Princess Jamphel overhears his words and smiles, “Thank you for your contribution, Mr. Min.”

“Yes, Mr. Min. I will take note.” for Jungkook, you think loudly, hoping that Mr. Min can hear your thoughts and be reminded that after this, you are back on your sabbatical. Since you know it’s not possible, in your head, you’re underlining, bolding, and circling Jungkook’s name on your mental notepad.

“This is also Bhutan’s first Diamond Jubilee for any Queen Regnant,” Princess Jamphel returns to admire her mother, “Most queens are much older by the time their sons reach 21, so it won’t take long until the queen turns 65, but my father passed before my brother was born, so my mother had to become Queen Regnant for a long time. She will turn 65 in three years, and that’s when she will step down.”

Your watch blinks to you it’s notifications and you notate the time. You lightly pat the napkin on your lips, “Pardon my excuse, I will be leaving to fetch the ceremonial outfits now.”

You’re excused by the table and leave the room. As soon as the doors are closed behind you, you breath in and let out a huge breath, whipping out your phone to make a quick call to Hoseok’s hospital to check in on his status. No change.

~•~

Mr. Min has never been to a royal ceremony before, and this was definitely a cultural learning experience. He stifled many yawns over the course of the celebration; not that he was bored or the celebration wasn’t stimulating in his observances, but he was without his coffee in the past 7 hours. Between Seokjin’s subtle pokes at his side when it looked like Mr. Min could have given up his energy, and Y/N’s soft whispers in his and Seokjin’s ear about what was happening, who is who, and any details about the ceremony that wasn’t informed during the lunch meeting, Mr. Min was able to get through the ceremony without dozing off or stressing out.

The people of Bhutan had many gifts and blessings to offer to the queen since the beginning of the queen’s arrival. Prior to that, the queen had traveled through the main road to greet her citizens. When the prince and princess finally present the queen with their gift, it will end the beginning of the ceremony and move to an hour of prayer to their religion. The queen was beautiful and dignified as she took the steps up the palace and acknowledged the three of you on her way up, as well as all the other international ambassadors and dignitaries.

You watched as the queen passed the two of you and came up to her children, who bowed to her and unveiled Seokjin and his team’s work. Everyone you could see and feel within your peripheral were nearly climbing over each other and tiptoeing to see the crown jewels. Mr. Min also felt it because you also saw in your peripheral that he lowkey puffed out his chest in pride when you both heard whispers and gasps. Princess Jamphel took a glance at Mr. Min, also noticing his posture straighten, and smiled with a nod. Mr. Min nodded back and you felt him shift because Seokjin elbowing him which caused him to lean into you a little bit. You shot them both a look reminding them where they are and they refocused their attention towards the queen again. You whispered basic translations to Mr. Min and Seokjin to let them know what was going on and preparing them for what’s going to heappen next.

Prince Loday gently placed the crown on his mother and Princess Jamphel handed her the scepter and orb into each of her hands. There was a rumble of drums, gradually growing louder and louder as the queen slowly turned. There was a hard stop, which made you question whether or not you’ve gone deaf or not, and everyone bowed towards the queen. You’ve never been in the presence of royalty before but you felt the air filled with authority from the queen and respect from her people.

The prayer session was pretty individualistic in terms of how it went. Everyone filed in line at the bottom of the palace and slowly went in turns to recite their prayers and presenting offerings to the Buddhist alter table. The royalty did so and the queen prayed for her country at the top of the stairs. The three of you also took your turns at the bottom of the steps too. You went first because you learned the mantras and said it to a certain volume that wasn’t disrespectful to others but Mr. Min and Seokjin can both hear it.

Since you were a little hasty this early afternoon eating the Bhutanese cuisine, this time you could really savor the flavors. Bhutan quite likes their spice because almost every dish had chilies and absolutely full of spice that you can taste in each part of your mouth. Normally you’re not much of a spicy person. Yoongi side-eyes you because he knows this all too well from client lunches and dinners and secretly spooned the spicy dishes from your plate onto his. Although you looked at him with gratitude, you at least took a spoon back and looked at him; letting him know by your eyes that you want to at least try everything in order to be respectful. So instead, Yoongi poured all three of you some water, deliberately placing yours in your hands. You were quite grateful to him for that as well because you needed a sip after one bite of each of the foods. At some point, Yoongi just wordlessly brought the rest of your food back on to his plate.

After the dinner, a series of dances were prepared for Her Majesty, similar to that of a parade, where groups of people danced through the crowd, each group wearing a different color. You couldn’t help yourself but record some of these dances since it didn’t really seem like there was a restriction towards it. Seokjin also joined you in it and shared his powerbank with you too. That’s when Yoongi couldn’t help himself to shake his head and you and Seokjin, but he couldn’t stop you two, especially seeing how happy you two seemed to be and chatting pointing out certain movements or outstanding dancers. The daylight already settled down and fire posts were being lit for people to continuing viewing the performances.

The arts and crafts celebration portion were where the citizens craft important symbols and animals of their culture. This lady provided instructions to children on how to fold, color, cut, and glue the different crafts they could make. You three were standing at the back of the table, watching the lady’s directions so you guys could follow along, since the rest of the adults clearly already knew what to do. You made a takin, Mr. Min made a raven, and Seokjin made the Himalayan blue poppy. The three of you lowkey started reverting to childlike behavior, as you are surrounded by children who are also playing with you all; you started making skits with the animal that another child made next to you. Mr. Min and Seokjin joined in and the child directed the play between all the animals.

The child clearly took a liking to Yoongi, because she lowkey pushed you away to stand next to him and act out her raven and his raven is going through a marriage ceremony, with your takin officiating the ceremony, making you and Seokjin giggle nonstop.

You went to get some water and Seokjin continued playing with the children while Yoongi found a way to redirect the child to playing with Seokjin as well. Taking a glance back to the child to make sure she didn’t follow him, he searched around to find you taking a sip of your water and came to your side.

“Shouldn’t you be with your new wife?” You teased, lower your cup while he poured himself his own.

“Shut up.” You both shared a lowkey awkward silence and continued sipping your cup. Or at least, you felt it was awkward as you were slowing drinking your water, figuring out what to say next because Yoongi is just staring at you from the side of his cup.

“You looked like you were enjoying yourself.” He noted. Your cup tilt back as you turned your head to watch people enjoy the cultural festivities.

“I mean, it’s been fun! A lot of cultural learning, beautiful dances, good food (but a bit spicy for me, but it was still good!), and the queen seems awesome!” You gushed at everything you’ve learned and experienced about the culture. Yoongi lightly smiled towards you, “I’m happy that you’re enjoying yourself.”

You looked up at him, your expression turning neutral, trying to hide your surprise. You knew he was looking at you! Every 20 minutes, you caught him glancing towards you since you lined up to wait for the queen.

“I…I just wanted to make sure that you’re okay for this trip.” Yoongi begins, “I know that this trip happened abruptly. I know you’re going through a lot personally. But if you’re at least enjoying it, I guess that’s all I can hope for while you’re here.”

There’s no way that he’s been worried about you. There’s no way that he’s been silently checking on you. Your expressions, your looks, your physicality if you’re too tired or not. The way that you’ve been carrying Seokjin and him on your back trying to make them presentable to royalty. The way that you’ve been taking care of him on the plane and car rides here. He knows you probably haven’t slept more than 3 hours at a time with the hectic schedule that you’ve had all day. He knows that this water break is almost the first time in the past 10 hours that you took a break at all. There’s no way that he’s been watching you for this reason.

Your cup nearly slips from your grip but you’re able to catch yourself. Although it was slight, Yoongi also saw it and instinctively shoots his hand out to grab it too. Your hand feels his warmth as he secures your grip.

Over the course of these years, you’ve had countless training on deescalating sexual tension between you and your boss. 7 accidental gentle touches when you both reach for the same file. 8 times where he catches you when you almost fall; 3 times where he catches himself before he falls with or against you. Twice where you were both stuck in an elevator for 2 hours. And a few times where he was feeling extra cheeky for no reason. Even last night when he flirted with you in the airport; it wasn’t your finest evasion technique, but as long as the conversation ended quickly, that’s all you an ask for.

You would never let yourself be caught in this situation where you get the awkward, sexual tension silence, especially not with your boss. Each time, you quickly move yourself away and return to the original conversation. Normally you wouldn’t really think anything of it, as you feel like it’s part of your job. He probably doesn’t even notice or feels the tension on all those times, so you’re not worried about him. It just helps you continue going through the day without staring blankly into space thinking about it.

Despite his intense gaze that heats up the back of your neck, your professional will is stronger and today is no different. As the moment his hand envelops yours, you bring your other hand up to take the cup and take another sip. But this time, you’re pretty sure Yoongi finally caught what you were doing and quickly withdraws his hand too. You ignore it to the best of your abilities and look away, “I appreciate the concern, Mr. Min, but I’ll be fine.”

His stare is burning through the side of your head but you shake off the feeling before that feeling of awkwardness resurfaces. Luckily, both of you are saved by the ringtone before you have to change the subject or Yoongi is able to process what just happened to everything that just happened.

“Excuse me, Mr. Min.” You quickly turn away from him and everyone to take the phone call. There is quite a bit of background noise from the festivities so you walk away further to take the call.

Yoongi tilts his head as he looks at your retreating figure and looks up just in time to see Seokjin staring back at him with the shittiest-eating-ass grin he’s ever seen in his entire life. Yoongi is just about to raise his most used finger towards his friend before a new voice captures his attention.

“Mr. Min.” Yoongi turns forward to see Princess Jamphel looking careful to find her words, “I wanted to know if you’d be interested in staying for the rest of the weekend for some more of the festivities. There will be some horseback riding, kite-flying, and games.”

“I –”

“Mr. Min!” Princess Jamphel and Yoongi looks up at the same time to see you running towards him. You bow to the princess before you turn to him, “I have urgent business to return home immediately.”

“What’s goin –"

“It’s personal.” Knowing what that means, Yoongi nods, “Go ahead.”

“Thank you.” Your figure escapes his vision in the darkness, making him feel like, for the first time, that you’re leaving his side. He almost forgets, “Mr. Min?”

“Yes, princess?”

“Would you like to stay for the rest of the weekend?”

“Apologies, princess. Unfortunately, I have other matters to attend to. Please let your mother know that Genius Design would humbly accept another chance to work with the country of Bhutan. Please excuse me and my associate, we must cut our trip short.” Yoongi bows and turns away from the Princess, Seokjin following quickly as he’s been observing the whole thing.

The princess turns away from Genius CEO, and returns to her brother’s side.

“So? How’d it go?”

“I was not wrong.” The princess wipes away any disappointment on her face and returns her neutral but dignified expression towards her people, “He likes her.”

Back at the hotel, Mr. Min comes by to visit your room to see if there’s anything he can do to assist you, but it seems that you have already checked out.

“Did y/n get a chance to tell you why she had to leave?” Seokjin asks, one of his hands are in his pockets as he drinks his water.

“She only said it was personal.” Seokjin slowly nods and says his good night before he returns to his own room.

If only he were able to speak to you, Yoongi would have told you that he’d return with you. Since you’re already gone and everything else is laid out in the original plans, it seems like he’ll be leaving in the morning, at least 10 hours after you. Yoongi sighs and falls on his back on the bed with his hands supporting his head; replaying in his head the last 5 minutes he’s had with you tonight.

There are only so many reasons that would take for you to leave his side. And the only one that he goes back to, is that your friend is awake.
