You sigh as you look at the messages after you turned your phone back on. Despite not blocking him anymore, you still felt the need to give yourself a break from his demands throughout the day. In addition to these texts, you’ve received 8 calls from Mr. Min, 3 from Jungkook, and 2 from Seokjin. You should have known. Mr. Min may be a little bit pushy lately, but it is understandable for him to feel a little unsteady.
You’ve been by his side for at least 6 years; 8 if you count the years you weren’t only his assistant, but Seokjin’s intern as well. You leaving all of the sudden is like him standing on a four-legged chair for so long and one of the legs has been hacked off with no warning. So, not that he is right in his way to bombard you on your PTO, but you can understand if something like this might make him feel desperate to get that leg back.
In addition to that, his father. Over the years, you always knew that his father supported his work, but every time you see his father, you can sense some form of bitterness. It’s alarming, but not to the point where you feel completely blindsided.
It’s no wonder his coffee needs were high last night. You do feel bad for the day he had, but not to the point of letting go of his actions and behavior tonight. The fact that he brought up Hoseok was out of bounds, never mind the fact that he wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place anyways.
You go to your music production desk and look for another blank usb. You tend to keep a bundle of small storage USBs for anyone interested in a copy of your music, provided of course, that the file is encrypted and there’s no chance for others to steal the music. The only factor of Mr. Min’s behavior tonight worth redeeming is the fact that he was interested in your music.
Say what you will about the guy, but he’s the most innovative, tasteful person you know. If he has interest in your music, it means your music means something of value. Despite your career ended up in a different direction, his take to your music tells you that your talent is not depreciated.
With everything going on in the past week and a half, this is the first time that you feel your heart feels just a tiny bit lighter. All because someone likes your music. And not just anyone. He is Min Yoongi: youngest of the top 100 most influential people in the world.
That’s worth a copy of your music and an extra 10 cups of coffee for his day no matter how upset you were by his comment.
~•~
Normally Yoongi can drink however many coffee cups he wants and still fall asleep in the same hour. It’s like a superpower. No, it’s more like he just got used to the caffeine. At this point, it’s a habit he’s conditioned to depend on; in another word: addiction. But last night was one of his harder nights to pass.
His conversation with his father kept replaying in his mind over and over again. And when he tosses and turns, the end of your conversation with him is replayed in his mind.
It’s not necessarily that anything his father can do or say to change his mind, as he is his own man, but he’s more upset that his father wanted him to leave his own company at all. It wasn’t like his father didn’t want him to leave in the first place. When Yoongi first started working in his father’s company, he was just a project manager. He did a pretty good job. But his father always pushed his achievements of building his own company from the ground up; honestly, it wasn’t very subtle. Yoongi knew his father wanted him to do something with his talents the same way his father did. And he took to that very seriously. And now his father decides his son should come back to the company he left?
And you.
He’s never felt more of a jerk towards you than he did last night. It was completely left field of him to come at you, especially about your personal life. And it is because of his selfish intrusions have led you to reveal a very dark and personal struggle. It is completely your business; regardless of who this Hoseok person is in your life. Regardless of the man’s identity, it is completely reasonable for you to be gone. And now that Yoongi knows, he should just back off and let you deal with your personal matters. As a boss, it is his job to not only be conscious of business development, but also make sure that his employees are in a healthy state to work.
Despite these thoughts going through his head all night, considering himself to have made peace with the events of yesterday, he still tossed and turned until 3am; and for three hours, all he had was some very light and shallow rest before his biological clock told him it is the time he regularly wakes up.
Perhaps he can take the day off. Never mind. Despite it to be Sunday, he was still Mr. Min; and Mr. Min has several virtual meetings to go through with a few of his employees and clients. But lucky for him, he can work from home on Sundays. Jungkook will be sending him the energy report soon but he just might tell Jungkook to postpone the meeting with the board about the energy project until Monday.
Mr. Min rolls out of bed, not necessarily because he’s ready to start the day, but there’s no point in him staying in bed any longer.
He drags himself to the kitchen and is a little stunned to see five egg carton tray cup holders, each filled with 4 large cups of coffee sitting on his kitchen island. Next to the last tray, he sees an index card sized card note with a USB on top, Double the amount. He recalls yesterday that you did promise to give him double the amount today. But it’s only 6am right now. He wonders when did you come in and how did he not hear you? Because the cups are still steaming.

Yesterday the Jubilee had finished all the pieces and put them into place. Today is the day the Princess will come grab the final product so Mr. Min and Jungkook goes down to the workshop to inspect the piece.
When they arrive, Seokjin is already there checking every side and cut of the Jubilee.
“These crown jewels are perfect.” Seokjin carefully picks up one of the pieces with his white gloves to show Mr. Min the Jubilee. Someone hands Mr. Min white gloves so that he can also inspect it himself.
“Very good. Give it a last-minute polish and then bring it up to the presentation room.” Seokjin nods to Mr. Min’s directives and takes the Jubilee back.
The presentation room is meant for high-profile clients to see the merchandise in all its glory as well as a room for the seasonal showcase of new products; and for this company with its prominence, it’s nearly a ballroom.
Mr. Min and Seokjin stand next to the showcase glass with the Jubilee in it. The princess with her security entourage enters the showcase room in all her royal honor. Mr. Min and Seokjin bow and maintain their position until she walks up to them.
“Princess, may I present, your Queen’s Jubilee.” Seokjin gestures to the showcase behind him and the princess steps forward to marvel at the jewels. The Jubilee gift the Princess has requested is nearly every jewelry and accessory imaginable along with a new set of crown jewels, that means the crown, the scepter, and the orb; all a complete set for the Queen to adorn on the day of the ceremony this Saturday. Nearly every inch of each piece is encrusted with jewels and the silver and ceramics have been molded to resemble a dragon wrapping the orb and scepter. In addition to the tourmaline and topaz that the Princess has specifically chosen to decorate the flower design to signify their national flower, the blue poppy, they’ve also added diamonds, rubies, and emeralds; all to signify the colors of their prayer flags as a symbol of blessings for the Queen. In the back, is a silver plate with the number 25 in Tibetan to signify her Silver Jubilee mark.
“I am very satisfied. I praise your employees for their wonderful design and craftmanship.” The princess smiles at Mr. Min in which he bows again to accept her compliments.
“I’m delighted to hear your satisfaction.” Mr. Min replies.
They walk over to the table nearby which her security guards prop up the suitcases full of cash for the price of the Jubilee.
“Our resident gem expert, Jung Ye Rin, and our high-profile jeweler security, Kwon Soon Young, will be accompanying your jewels back to Bhutan, until after the ceremony when the jewels will be secured.” Mr. Min explains to the Princess as they watch his two employees carefully take the Jubilee pieces out of the showcase and into their travel storage.
“Seokjin will come on Friday and attend the ceremony as well.”
“As will you?” The Princess asks, “and if you come earlier, I can give you a tour around my country.” Well, he can’t really say no to a personal invite.
“Of course, Princess. I will be attending the ceremony, unfortunately, due to the demands of my company, I am unable to stay long. Seokjin and I will be there the same time. We are both coming down on Friday and leaving after the ceremony.” The princess nods in understanding, however her distant looks does show a hint of disappointment.
“Well, I hope when you attend, we can still spend the most time together.” A princess has dignity, but never gives up.

“Oh my God. A princess really likes you.” Seokjin laughs as he claps the back of his friend.
“Why are you so excited?” Yoongi shrugs him off as he replies to an email from one of his associates.
“I don’t know. Maybe because it’s you that a princess is interested in? Maybe because it’s like a drama?...Okay, yeah. It’s because it’s you. Yes, yes. You are one of the most eligible bachelors in South Korea, if not the top one, but…come on, did you ever think you’d catch the eye of a princess?” Seokjin walks around the table to get back to his chair.
“No.”
“Exactly! You’re you! You have no romance at all. No romance, charisma, or charm.” Seokjin throws his hands up and collapses on the chair with dramatic flair. Yoongi turns his head to look at Seokjin. “For the ladies, of course.” Seokjin quickly adds.
“Not because I have no confidence in myself, but I simply do not imagine these things in my downtime.”
“What downtime?”
“Exactly.”

Since your last lesson of turning off your phone, you choose to simply silent it for the sake of dance practice. At the end of the dance practice, you put away your equipment and check your phone. Nothing too urgent; just Jungkook giving you a few updates.
For the past two days, Mr. Min has been pretty quiet with his demands. Guess there’s a silver lining to telling him some personal matters.
While you’re gone from work, you sort of fell into a routine. Get up, do some work-related updates. go visit Hoseok during the day, play the practice videos, come home, take a shower, feed Yeontan, go to the dance university, dj for dance practice as well as record their dance practice, come home, get dinner and sleep. Not that doing things for Hoseok wasn’t great, you just start to feel like routine isn’t for you. At least work gave you a new challenge every day.
With this realization in mind, you chose to do something out of routine. As much as Hoseok is resting, you might as well use your PTO for yourself as well. Some self-care, some relaxation. You should commit at least one part of each day for yourself. Today will be eating dinner outside and going to a bookstore. You haven’t picked up any voluntary reading for a while now.
~•~
This happens to be one of your most favorite pastimes. Earl Grey tea, noise-cancelling headphones, going to a well-lit bookstore to pick up some good reads, or read while you’re there.
As you slowly go down the aisle, your peripheral vision has a familiar face bent down at an angle to get your attention.
“Y/N?”
“Namjoon!” You pause your music and pull your headphones down to rest on your shoulders.
“You look like a female version of Yoongi for a moment.” Namjoon comments with a smile. You curve one side of your lips, “Please.”
“I’m, like, half serious.”
“Haven’t seen you in nearly two years. What are you up to?” You change the subject. You don’t really see the compliment of being similar to Mr. Min.
“What are any of us doing here?” He raises his eyebrows in a playful manner.
“Are you talking about in the bookstore or are you having an existential crisis?”
“I could be both.” You shake your head and chuckle, “How are you, Namjoon?”
“Things are alright. I’m just chilling. Waiting for Seokjin and Yoongi to grab some dinner.”
“Nice.” You recall Jungkook spilling the tea on Senior Min wanting Mr. Min to be the chairman. Doing so means Namjoon and all his hard work is pushed away. You feel so much pity for Namjoon, but knowing Mr. Min, he would never let that happen, so you shouldn’t feel too nervous for Namjoon.
Speaking of your boss…
You see Seokjin and Mr. Min’s head bobbing their way down the aisle of books. Seokjin looks excited to see you as he makes a gentle wave. Mr. Min doesn’t really express much, but by the looks of his eyes, he’s surprised to see you.
“Y/N! How’s your break going?” Seokjin asks as he walks up to you. Namjoon looks at you, realizing why he felt like it was such a surprise to see you out and about so early in the evening. Normally at this hour, you’d still be in the office, hence you being here proves you’re currently off.
“Ah. Well, doing stuff…” You trail off. Seokjin immediately recognizes your boundaries, unlike some people.
“Well, then. We won’t disturb your PTO. See you later!” Seokjin guides his friends away and you wave them goodbye.
What’s it like for other people when they see their boss in public?
~•~
“I knew I felt like something was weird! I haven’t seen her in so long because she’s always working late.” Namjoon exclaims, facepalming his forehead.
“Yeah, I don’t think I’ve really seen her ever take a vacation day. Unless she capped her hours and she’s forced to.” Seokjin remarks.
Yoongi does his best to stay silent on the matter. Knowing what he knows, he doesn’t want to be a part of the conversation. She didn’t want to let him know why she called out, let alone, letting other people know.
He was surprised to see you though. He would have thought that you would have wanted to stay beside your…friend or whoever he is to you, for the duration of your time. Also, he was…almost a little…scared? To see you. No, not scared. But something else he can’t point out. Since you outed your reasons to him, he felt the importance to stay away and let you deal with your things; and despite the fact that you got him coffee the very next day, doesn’t mean you weren’t still mad. He doesn’t know if you’re still mad.
“Namjoon,” Yoongi turns to his friend to change the subject, “Hey, so I need to tell you something.”
Yoongi explains to him what happened on Saturday with his father’s conversation. All the while Namjoon doesn’t look at Yoongi, taking in what he’s saying. Seokjin inhales sharply, unsure how Namjoon will react.
“Thanks,” Namjoon grimaces, “I appreciate your honestly.” No one said anything for a minute, just letting the atmosphere sink in. Namjoon sits up and stretches his back, “It’s not really surprising; it’s understandable, if you try to think like a father, I guess. Maybe. But I’m still disappointed.”
“That’s understandable.” Seokjin nods.
“Don’t worry about me though. Maybe it’s just time for me to recognize where I can be valued more. How about you, what are you going to do?” Namjoon looks at Yoongi.
“I’m not going back. That’s all I know.” Yoongi knocks back a shot of soju. Namjoon nods expectantly.
“So Namjoon, guess what? We met the Princess today again.” Seokjin wiggles his eyebrows to change the subject. Namjoon grins and looks at Yoongi.
“So…has she asked for your hand in marriage yet?” Seokjin and Namjoon laugh with each other while Yoongi just shakes his head.
“I hate you all.”
“Hey, man. She’s beautiful and nice.”
“And she’s in another country.” Yoongi reminds his friends.
“So, are you saying if she weren’t in another country, you’d ask her out?”
“No. She’s a princess. She’s got duties and I’m not cut out for royal business.”
“Okay so if she was a normal citizen in South Korea, you’d ask her out?” Namjoon inquires.
“No.”
“Come on, man. Real talk. What kind of woman do you want?” Seokjin leans in.
“No.”
“Oh! Okay, I’m sorry. What kind of man do you want?”
“I don’t have time for a woman. And even if I had any time at all, there’s no woman that can keep up with what I do.” At that, Seokjin raises his eyebrows and bites back a grin. He glances behind Yoongi at Namjoon who shares the same look. Seokjin tries to hide his grin and subtly shakes his head.
“Okay. So, someone who keeps up with your schedule, knows your problems and can share your burdens, and has an in-depth understanding of your quirks. Well damn. If that’s the case, and she’s all up in your business, how are you going give in the relationship? Can’t just expect someone to hang around all for your own sake. Women needs love, care, protection, and affect – “
“And how would you know? You don’t date either.” Yoongi shoots back
“I date!” Seokjin protests.
Namjoon waves him off. “Hey, focus,” Namjoon turns back to Yoongi, “He makes a point though. You’d be a pretty lousy boyfriend if all you want is someone to trail you and be your assistant.”
“I don’t want an assistant.” Yoongi raises his voice, much louder than intended.
“Okay. Great. So how are you going to prevent that? Because it doesn’t sound like you’d do much for her.”
“You guys are bringing up a nonexistent girlfriend for me right now. How did we even get here?” Yoongi urges for the subject to drop.
“Because one day you’re going to actually discover who she is. And when you do, you’re going to realize how much of an asshole you can be to her if you’re not careful.”
~•~
Yoongi takes off his jacket and plops on the couch; his face is a little red from the amount of soju he had tonight.
He’s bothered by Namjoon and Seokjin’s chastising; like he’d really be a bad boyfriend. Not like there’s even someone able to keep up with him. You are, but you’re his assistant; and he’s already made a point that he’s not trying to date an assistant. No offense to you, but the dynamics between you and him is boss and assistant; it’s not a realistic dynamic for a couple before they are a couple.
As these thoughts run through his head, he feels maybe a little bit of an asshole; making it sound like it’s a matter of class. He tries to rephrase himself in his head. Besides. It’s not like he’s the highest and mightiest of them all. He has a princess chasing after him and he doesn’t feel worthy. And she’s not his type.
Normally in public events, when he knows he’s bound to run into some ladies who aren’t his type, you’re there to fan them away. Don’t know how you do it, but with you by his side, he worries so much less about most things.
These thoughts bring him to think about the Jubilee ceremony coming up. You’re not there to shoo her away, although that’d be pretty interesting to see how you help him reject a princess.
He looks to his phone but shakes the thoughts out of his head just as fast. He can’t bother you at a time like this. He kind of promised himself to give you the space you need right now. It’s the least he can do.
