Sometimes the mark of good writing is that it makes you really fucking angry at a character. Sometimes a character is so heinous and duplicitous that it makes you feel so fucking mad whenever they show up. The problem with this is that a truly hateable villain is usually not that fun if they keep winning for too long. You have to be careful. But when it's done right, when the character's villainy and overall awfulness make you mad just occasionally, when they're only around every so often, that's the fun part.
