Blue String Doodle World - Tumblr Posts
Imagine after we beat Somniere and everything is set and done. It's said that the Blue Strings (aka us apparently) disappear once the catastrophic event is dealt with or has passed. Such as in the Doodle War. And during cutscenes, we don't get to really control Player's body, it acts by itself, we're the camera. Imagine we get a cutscene where we see Player, as in the character itself, the camera pans to them going back home to Sketchvile and entering their home. They pause before entering the door, even turning their head as if they're about to turn around and look at us. But they don't. They enter the house and it cuts to black. (Or the camera pans to the sky before fading into like... the title.) They're free now and we're no longer needed.
I have this headcanon that the Blue Strings after the Doodle War didn't just disappear But the connection between them and the heroes was severed. Like at the cost of your free will and body, you become "fearless" and know what to do in a battle. Essentially becoming a perfect soldier, yet with no thoughts or idea to think for yourself as someone else is doing that for you. Wouldn't you feel so lost and numb? I imagine that whenever the Blue Strings take full control over any person's body, they grow numb for a moment and they're in a bit of a daze. They don't at first realize they have the Blue String; it takes a while to set in that you have it. Hence, I headcanon why when we control Portia in the Oasis, she doesn't notice it since it's only for one short fight. Player essentially has to become a soldier for an up-and-coming war and that must feel terrifying. They're only a teenager, one that never even wanted to go out and do the Key Hunt yet has to deal with the burdens of having to save a whole person, then a whole island. I feel like another reason why the Blue Strings disappeared not only because the connection was severed but also because after a war is over... Why would you need a soldier? They serve no other purpose, hence why the Blue String dipped after the war, since why would you need to be "fearless" and know everything in battle if there is no important battle?
I theorized over on Reddit that the reason why Joseph wants us to immediately be placed in a higher level in his Fanclub is because of the Blue Strings. Like its practically said that he can see the Blue Strings due to being a distant relative of Rosemary's lineage. And as we know, the Blue Strings were imperative to the victory in the war. The Blue Strings essentially makes whoever who bares it to be a stoppable soldier. And for a war, that's exactly what he needs. He is planning on "being on the right side of history" and the Doodle War is a major part of history. This is all based my observations.
Who is the Evil Team of Doodle World? Is it the Shadow Clan? They're fucking up everything in Icyridge but they primarily just seem derived from their own goals and seem largely disconnected from the main plot outside of Icyridge. I mean we didn't really get to see them for 4 entire arcs, only Inari serving as our look into the Shadow Clan. Their only real notable "evil" thing they've done so far is assassinate Victor Solis. And that's more helping than hurting. Sure, they'll do worse things later on, but Player has stopped them multiple times. And likely will put a stop to their whole two sides thing in Icyridge Part 2. As long as Player's around, they aren't really doing anything bad. Is it the Louis Fanclub? I'm inclined to say yes, while certain members like Alice and her father, along with Number Three, aren't bad. Their leader, Joseph Bright most certainly is. Joseph Bright is a walking and talking red flag, he's not even that, he's a whole red carpet. Even with Player around, Joseph has done things previously that we couldn't stop. Such as the "disappearance" of Julius. Joseph's plans will still come to fruition, and we can't stop it since we're actively progressing the story. Is it the Executives? I dunno, I just see them all as doing their jobs. Especially with Portia and Ellen. And if anyone has anything close to an "Evil Team" besides Peepaw Yami and Joseph, then it's Cortes in my book. He has a whole unit and he acts high and mighty, fitting of a bad guy. But that's just him. The rest of his unit is just doing their job. So, I don't really count him either.
I just had a mini lore episode and had to post it on Reddit since it was too long for Tumblr. Some Food for Mind. Long story short. The Blue Strings isn't just a way to explain why we're here. It's also like a very tragic idea of war. Forcing someone to be a soldier to protect those they care about. Because the Blue Strings essentially makes those it attached to, a soldier. Since like there was more than one vessel for the Blue Strings. The Ten Heroes. I thought about "What if there were others, what if there were children like Player, what if they didn't make it?" Since War involves lots of death and loss. Especially for the Doodle War. Safe to say shit got dark fast.
