These photos make me happy. I have multiple skeleton-kintypes and one of them is an amalgamation of different animals. Seeing this made me jealous that they have those skulls. qwq

Dude I haven't gone out looking for bones in forever

Does anyone know what bone this is? I think it's from an nz fur seal because my father found the carcass of one near where I found it a little while ago and there are no other animals of the same size in the area but I have no clue what part of the body it might be

My pig skull I finished cleaning today, it sits on a not blocked filet crochet piece.

I want to start painting bones/doing bone art, so I'm practicing on rocks because they're much more abundant.

This white primer I have makes me feel better, since I'm currently macerating some bones for the first time (where you leave bones with some gunk still on them in a clear bucket/tub full of water in the sun for like 2-3 weeks to form bacteria colonies that "naturally" break down the excess flesh, ick), and I hear it turns the bones brown. I really don't want to bleach them since I know it tends to make them more brittle/flaky... I hope a hydrogen peroxide/water solution will help whiten them up but I know it won't get them to that "picture perfect" white unless I do it a whole bunch, which can make them brittle just like bleach does...

If anyone knows... how the hell should I go about disposing of the gross water from the process??

First time cleaning some bones. I hope I don't break them, especially considering that those are pigeon bones.

My friend actually managed to get me these for my birthday.

There's some dirt left inside the bones, so I'll have to figure out how to get that out, but aside from that this turned out pretty alright.

And despite boiling the bones previously, to my luck only a few patches became brittle. So only minimal chunks were lost :). But I hope I have the chance to do it better in the future.

Also on the topic of plants, here are some deer bones that I put into my Aloe plant pot to help hold up some of the arms(?) as it has been growing! It looks really neat and is super helpful. (Also ft. the funky flamingo my parents got me a while back lol)

(I need to repot it as it’s gotten pretty big, but haven’t had the time/money to 🥲)
