Yes I read books. Yes, I read fanfiction. No, I do not think that one is better than the other. No, not every book is a 'flawless masterpiece' and not every fanfic is 'poorly-written gay smut.' Yes, both have their pros and cons. No, not everyone has the same opinion or reading preference as you. Yes, it makes you a shitty person for forcing your opinion about which one is better on other people

i've read many books whose plots and characters i adore with my heart and many that i never want to set my eyes upon again
on the other hand i've read many fanfics whose way of pulling at my heartstrings and philosophical values that no other book has come close
to satisfying me but i've read plenty that made me feel like bleaching my eyes and jumping off a cliff
while books provide me with new concepts and characters to think about fanfiction manages to use all that and expand on it
in short: i love both books and fanfiction in different ways without thinking that one is better than the other
