If ever there was a shot for a third party candidate to become president, this is the election.
just watched & rewatched the scene where dean gives cas his trenchcoat back & i’m having thoughts & the brain is WORKING WHIRRING CHURNING becos!! the trenchcoat IS dean & cas’s relationship!! it’s the part of cas dean actually puts his hands on - it’s the part of cas dean can Touch. it marks cas as different from the other angels (who wear suits Without overcoats) just as his relationship to dean marks him as different! AND good gd. in the scene where cas dissolves in the river his trenchcoat floats off of him and dean picks it up, DEAN holds the relationship now, and he pulls it from the water & doesn’t let it sink or drown. instead he Carries It With Him. cas has betrayed and lied to him, and cas has killed; the coat is bloody and dirty now. but still dean keeps it, buries it in the trunk of his car and in the back of his mind where he stores all his thoughts of his botched friendship with cas. and then he sees cas again, cas apologises with palpable horror, and in despair he asks dean “i can’t fix it, so why did i walk out of that river?” and dean says “maybe TO fix it” and it knocked me out COLD!! and then everything screeches to a halt bc dean gives the trenchcoat BACK!!! he returns their battered relationship, muddy and bloody, to cas!!! he places it In His Hands he lets castiel take it!!! and cas WEARS IT AGAIN and BECOMES HIMSELF AGAIN through REMEMBERING DEAN. like. memories of dean and the people dean cares for gave cas back his sense of identity and his Soul & it’s this fucking exquisite parallel with how cas gave dean back HIS soul jesus fuck sera gamble you made me feel this because of a Plastic Coat i am GONNA gnaw sawdust!!!!!!
