Hey hey hey, remember when I said I wanted to give Maze some love?

I did it!

Here's a little writing I did for Maze get that good ol' Kih'vode loving and also Alpha-17 getting sweet sweet revenge!

And if you prefer to read it here on tumblr it'll be right under the cut!

Maze would much rather be curled up in his bunk, reading the new novel he downloaded on his datapad, than be standing here as he and General Zey waited for Skirata and Omega to disembark from wherever they decided to travel this time.

He rolled his eyes- safely hidden behind his helmet- at the quiet chuckling coming from Zey and instead focused on nodding to Ordo when the group got closer. Zey stepped forward to greet the group and ask about their mission but the stomping of running feet immediately stole Maze’s attention. The others had also glanced over at the sound, distracted from their conversation, and were front-seat spectators to the captain being tackled by two blue blurs.

Maze grunted toppling over from the combined weight of two troopers. The shout clawing its way up his throat left as a strangled shriek when one of the troopers shifted from the tangle of limbs and popped their head up- he could tell the vod was grinning behind the helmet, the shabuir was grinning!- crowing regardless of their current audience.

“Ori’vod!” He wrenched an arm free from the pile to swat at the vod- of course, it was Stec, his vod’ika did what he wanted regardless of superiors present- only to growl when his hit missed and was rewarded with a helmet thunking roughly against his own.

Maze wheezed when Stec slipped and fell back down onto the pile. The Alpha let his helmeted head drop down to the permacrete, resigned to his fate. He could hear Zey laughing. It was a full belly sound that warmed you up from the inside. If Zey was laughing no doubt the rest of Skirata’s clan were either laughing or shocked into silence.

Softer footsteps circling them had him tilting his head enough to see familiar red armor and jaig eyes staring into his soul.

“You’re their Captain, Fordo” He hated to admit it but pleading to his littlest vod’ika might win him some dignity back. “You let your men body people in front of their commanding officer?” His only response was a tilted helmet and the subtle shaking of shoulders. His fellow captain was laughing at him. Fordo moving his hands brought Maze back from his lamenting and what he saw made him give up all belief that he had any hand in raising these two.

“Seventeen says hello, Ori’vod” Fordo signed. He had that same smug head tilt that all Kih’vode did whenever they pulled one over on their Ori’vode. Maze felt all hope slip from his fingers as Stec and Galaar- it had to be him the pilot practically suctioned himself to the twins after Hypori- let themselves go limp and practically smothered Maze into the ground.

General Zey peered down at him with an amused smile. His hands were clasped primly behind his back as the general watched Maze give in to the terror that was little brothers.

“I see you will be busy for the rest of the day, Captain. I will go ahead and confirm your request for leave.” He then turned away back to the Skirata clan who were watching the scene with varying degrees of confusion and or-oddly enough- heartache, if Maze was reading Sergeant Skirata correctly.

Galaar took the time to thank the General for giving Maze leave, stating that he knew Maze was not lying when the older Alpha talked about how good the man was. Zey looked pleasantly surprised and his smile grew warmer as he nodded to the pilot and stepped away to lead Omega and the rest of Clan Skirata away. Fordo had crouched down by then and was digging through the pouches in Maze’s belt to find the snacks the captain had stored there from habit since they were little. Stec was busy chattering away at Maze- who was ignoring him, no he was NOT interested in the fact Seventeen nearly threw them in a river again- while Galaar had taken to sitting on the older Alpha’s legs and sneaking snacks from the other side of his belt.

Scavengers, the lot of them. He thought to himself while staring up at the Coruscant sky. His attention was stolen again as the parting group got further away.

Maze was going to pummel his Kih’vode into the mats after hearing Fi’s departing remark.

“I guess even the Alpha class is susceptible to the wills of Kih’vode.”

Alpha Pile!

Alpha pile!

I wanted to give Maze some love after reading Triple Zero and what better way for that to happen than for his Kih'vode to drag him into a vod pile?

I finished this right before my copy of True Colors got here so it is time to go continue my journey through the Republic Commando Books!!

From left to right you have

Front: unnamed commander (brightest yellow), Maze, Stec, Fordo, Mar'ek (brightest blue), Jangotat, Tavo, unnamed Pilot (protectors symbol), Sull

Back: Trantos, Muzzle, Alpha-17, Spar, Aven

He hummed, arms crossed, looking down at the pitiful scene his brother made. Ordo found it funny that Mereel had declared he could easily beat the Alpha's in a fight. Maze sliding into the conversation to take the bet however, had been to both of their surprise.

Bet made, Maze had given them a time and said he'd bring Mereel's opponents with him.

"What do you mean opponents?"

"You said Alphas, plural" Maze grinned at them over his shoulder, all sharp teeth and unhinged glee.

Which led them to where they were currently.

"You could just roll over" Ordo rolled his eyes at the resulting screech and watched Mereel try to get two kitted and tired Alpha ARCs off of him.

One was lounging on his back, using Mereel like a long pillow. They had his brother's arm trapped under their combined weight and- if Ordo didn't know better- was using the added hassle of moving a limp body to further dissuade any escape attempts.

The other Alpha was perched on Mereels legs- perched was a reach, more like their legs were tangled together, Ordo thought- and was picking through every pocket they could wiggle their fingers into.

When cutting a glance to his side, Ordo took in how Maze looked like a satisfied tooka and wondered if this was how the other Captain normally looked when his shiver was on shore leave.

"You lost the bet," Maze's voice almost had a lilt to it, "now after you get done you owe me and my kih'vode some nice drinks." He cackled- cackled! Ordo didn't know how to feel about this side of Maze he was seeing- and set about pulling up his comm to take a holo of the scene.

"I call the bet unfair" Mereel grumbled into the mat and grunted when the alpha on his legs- Stec, that was his name- managed to pry open the pouch Ordo knew held those sour candies that Mereel liked. Maze seemed to chose to ignore Mereel's complaints as a notification buzzed Ordo's comm right as Maze mentioned sending the holo to the 17. That got Mereel to attempt another bid at freedom while cursing at Maze.

Ordo ignored the renewed scuffling to save the holo to his own small stash of photos and make a copy to send to Jaing, knowing that it'd escape Mereel's clutches.

What are your takes on Ordo and Maze? :3

Im glad you asked! >:3c

So im still reading the books so my takes on them will probably shift around a bit but as of right now here is how I see them!!

Ordo is someone im still getting a handle on! But I defo see him as someone who doesn't trust often and isnt fond of others often either. This isnt a bad thing! I kinda get the feel that he does sometimes want to reach out to people but has been around his brothers and kal so much that he never really developed or learned how to if that makes sense? I like portraying his relationship with Maze as one thats him maybe overanalyzing interactions to figure out how certain things effect Maze but also when Maze does do things for him they sometimes dont click right away. Some of my favorite moments so far with Ordo is when he thought Laseema was interested in him and was sad/upset/maybe embarrassed that he didn't notice she liked Atin. My next favorite is just him and Etain being awkward around each other tbh, I like their interactions and I use that awkwardness in my takes with Ordo! I also think that he is a fiercely loyal person when he does open up to people and he strives to be perfect or to constantly make Kal happy/proud and that when he perceives that he hasnt that destroys him.

Maze I kinda made a bit more up for since, at least where i am in the books, we don't get alot about his who vibe? I think he is a really motivated man who prefers to stick to his own moral code/ the rules especially since he is on Coruscant and under alot more scrutiny then say Fordo would be out in the field. I think he (I also think this might be mentioned in a book?) reads alot and enjoys learning about everything that they were never taught on Kamino. He definitely gives off a stricter feeling to his character since he works with Zey but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about his friends. Im still trying to get a grasp on Maze's character also, the Alpha arcs are my favorites so I tend to build their personalities and characters off of each other and this is kinda seen more in my little au of the clones and their relationships.

Overall I really love these two! Im excited to see more of them in Order 66 if anything happens to Maze I WILL cry and Im hoping to get better grasps of their characters! I'll take any flavor of these two nerds and I love reading how other people see them!
