Hey Guys! This Is My Fic For Caros Wonderland Writing Challenge. Shes Super Sweet And I Am So Thankful

Hey guys! This is my fic for Caro’s Wonderland Writing Challenge. She’s super sweet and I am so thankful that I got to participate in her celebration. (And you should totally follow her @ughjoekeery ) For my prompt, I chose the song “Es Tarde” by Juanes, and I recommend that all of you listen to it here before you read so you better understand the reader’s attitude. This started out as a Loki x Reader fic, but I threw in some Doctor Strange x Reader because I am the worst. It takes place between Doctor Strange and Thor: Ragnarok, and I may or may not have stolen some dialogue, but whatever. A little angsty, but not really. Story under the cut. - Sydney

You’re in your little studio, the sun shining through your window while you listen to the latest album by Juanes, jamming and dancing and cleaning. Your boyfriend is going to pick you up at your apartment and take you out later tonight. It’s Saturday, and you both need a break from your crazy jobs, so you two planned to go to dinner at this cool place in Soho and then check out some of the art galleries that are open later at night. As you finish wiping down your little stove, you hear someone knock on your door.

That’s strange, you think as you look at your clock, which stares back at you with unflinching green lights, Stephen’s not supposed to be here until five. Maybe he brought wine for before dinner.

As you open the door, though, you’re shocked to find a man dressed in all black with long hair to match. You hadn’t seen this man in a very long time.

“Loki?” You almost shout, so surprised by the god in your hallway.

“Hello, love. May I come in?” He asks with his typical smirk.

“Why the heck would I let you into my apartment? I haven’t seen you in at least three years, you didn’t call to say you were coming, and your don’t have a particularly good track record on this planet. Last time I heard about you was when Darcy told me that Thor watched you die, you dramatic prick.”

“What a warm welcome, though I suppose not entirely unexpected,” he says with that pretentious accent. “And while what you said may be true, I never hurt you when I was in your company, did I Y/N?”

“No you didn’t, but it did hurt when you left, and I have better things to do than listen to your newest plan for world domination.” You cross your arms for effect and lean against your doorframe.

“I apologize for causing you distress, Y/N, but please, just let me come in and we can talk about it.”

“I’m not budging on this, Loki. You should honestly just leave.” You aren’t mad at him, but you have moved on and made a good life for yourself since last time you saw him, and you had all but forgotten about your fling with the god until he showed up again.

“Hey, we were more than just a fling, love. You have to admit.”

“I apparently also forgot you could read minds when I forgot about your existence. Excuse you for intruding on my privacy.”

“That’s no way to talk to the King of Asgard. Come on, where is the love you had for me?” He looks at you with his delicate blue eyes, deliberately trying to sway you, but you learned his tricks while you dated, and you learned how to resist them.

“My love for you eventually blew away like the wind blows away the monsoon rains. And honestly, I don’t think you understand how good it felt to not wake up to a hole in my chest every morning when I thought about our love. Every night, my heart would break, and I would dream of us, I would dream of dying for you in an attempt to bring back our love, and it devastated me. But that door closed, I moved on, and you’re not opening it back up with your pretty eyes and your begging.”

“Y/N,” he said, beginning to get angry. Not yet furious, but he was a little more stiff, a little more impatient, a little more domineering. “I taught you what love is. You can’t just forget about that. Our love was supposed to last as long as the sun.”

“Yeah, but you left,” you shoot back at him, not intimidated by his tantrum. “Our love ended when you left without warning. You abandoned me in the dark, and I crawled back into the light. You may have taught me how to love, but I learned how to forget, and I pieced myself back together.”

His mood is getting worse by the second, and you’re about to go back inside when you hear the elevator chime.

“Y/N?” you hear your boyfriend ask. “Who’s this?”

“Stephen! You’re early,” you beckon him closer and wrap an arm around his middle when he gets to your door, awkwardly stepping around Loki. Loki notices immediately, and sends you a look that obviously says He’s not as good as me. Stephen just evaluates the situation with his typical apathetic stare. “Stephen, this is Loki, Prince of Asgard-”

“KING of Asgard,” Loki stares you down.

“Not so long as your father is alive,” you tell him, and he looks ridiculously surprised. You let him slide earlier because you were too caught up in your emotions, but you know Odin isn’t dead and decide to press Loki’s buttons. “Anyway, Loki, this is Dr. Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme and my boyfriend.”

“You midgardians think you know magic, do you?” Loki snarls, apparently very upset by your new relationship, and raises a glowing fist. Before he can do anything though, Stephen has him in magic orange handcuffs with his back against the wall.

“My, my, Y/N,” Stephen says, voice full of sarcasm. “You said your last boyfriend was different, but you didn’t mention that he was going to stop by today and kill you with magic. You seem to know the most interesting people.”

“Thanks, babe, but I don’t think Loki would kill me. I think there’s still a part of him in love, and I respect that, but Loki, you need to respect me. I’m not just some lost dog that was going to sit at the front door and wait for you to come back. I didn’t know if you were ever coming back, so I just went on living my life, and I met someone along the way who taught me that I could love again. Although I seem to have a type.” You say the last part with sarcasm.

“And what would that be, love?” Loki asks, not as angry anymore, but still glaring daggers at Stephen for keeping him pinned to the wall.

“Oh, you know, tall, dark-haired, magical jerks.” You grin at both boys. “Alright, Loki, you have to leave, but I don’t know what you’re going to do if we let you go. Stephen, is there anything you can do to keep Loki out of trouble while we call Thor?”

“I might have an idea.”

All of a sudden, a hole opens up beneath Loki’s feet, and he falls, no longer handcuffed, into the darkness. Then, you and Stephen go back to his place to summon Thor.

“Lady Y/N!” Thor greets you with a bear hug and you laugh when your toes leave the ground. “Who is this man with a cape that resembles my own?” Even though he was still in his everyday clothes, the cloak had landed on Stephen’s shoulders as soon as he walked into his brownstone.

“Thor! Good to see you! This is my boyfriend, Dr. Strange.”

“A pleasure to meet you, Doctor. Lady Y/N, does your summoning me have anything to do with my brother?”

“Actually, yeah. He showed up at my apartment basically asking me to take him back. I guess pretending to be the Allfather got a little boring.” After a moment, you look at Thor again, confused. “Wait, I thought you watched him die?”

“I did, but I had heard whispers from my people and Heimdall that my father was acting a little unusual, and I began to suspect that Loki might be behind it.”

When Stephen finally opens the portal, Loki lands on his face before trying to regain as much composure as possible. “I HAVE BEEN FALLING,” he yells, “FOR THIRTY MINUTES!”

“Well, you can go home now, Loki.” You attempt to quickly wrap things up. “Thanks for visiting. Send a raven next time.” Thor is about to holler at Heimdall when you place a kiss on Loki’s cheek. “Seriously though,” you smile, “send me something.”

Loki just looks at you, surprised that you seemed to have forgiven him as he begins to disappear in a column of light.
