Cassette Tape - Tumblr Posts
It is very wild to think that there will be a day when listening to music on a cassette tape will not even be a memory anymore.
People will know that music was stored and listened to by playing the tape, but the memory of actually doing so will have faded away. ๐

Little Earthquakes is a masterpiece, but I can't remember when was the last time I've heard Me and a Gun, it's too much to handle
See, I am The Old. My copy of Little Earthquakes is on cassette, and a pirate cassette at that (I got it from a guy who literally has TORI and AMOS tattooed across his knuckles). And the thing with cassettes is - for those too young to remember - it's *really hard* to skip tracks. You've only got the FF & RW buttons and no way of telling where the track ends* so you're constantly running it backwards 'n' forwards 'n' backwards 'n' forwards and is that the dying chords of the last song or the opening chord of the next song and what even IS the next song it's a pirate cassette so if the track listing is written at all it's in some guy's handwriting you can't read and anyway the tape's been sitting in the sun for 20 years and it's faded off.
Anyway, my life to this day is 50/50 cassette tapes and radio, so the concept of skipping a song is still a little alien.
*Unless you're my father, in which case next to each track he would scrawl the stereo's counter number for each track. Spot the engineer...
