Charles Dickens Week - Tumblr Posts

In honor of Oprah picking Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities for her book club, I'm declaring it CHARLES DICKENS WEEK. Only the finest and most tasteful of Charles Dickens content will be allowed on my Tumblr, and also maybe some stuff about Kanye.
ARE YOU READY TO HAVE YOUR WORLD ROCKED BY A VICTORIAN NOVELIST WITH A CRAZY BEARD??
Nothing can exceed [the soldiers'] good humor. It was but the day before my arrival that one of them had been most grossly insulted...The bar-maid had positively refused to draw him any more liquor; in return for which he had (merely in playfulness) drawn his bayonet, and wounded the girl in the shoulder. And yet this fine fellow was the first to go down next morning, and express his readiness to overlook the matter.

When a person comes to grind off poetry night after night, it is but right he should expect to be paid for its weakening effect on his mind.

Being something too soon in their arrival, they lurked at a corner, waiting for her to appear. The best-looking among us will not look very well lurking at a corner, and Bradley came out of that disadvantage very poorly indeed.

A bill is the most extraordinary locomotive engine that the genius of man ever produced. It would keep on running during the longest lifetime, without ever once stopping of its own accord.

Was it the specialty of Mr. and Mrs. Lammle, or does it ever obtain with other loving couples? In these matrimonial dialogues they never addressed each other, but always some invisible presence that appeared to take a station about midway between them. What better way to learn about Charles Dickens than through an ADVENTURE GAME? In the screenshot above, I've just met Jo, the crossing-sweeper who gave Esther Summerson smallpox in Bleak House. Thanks for the smallpox, Jo!
There are also a few awesome mini-games, where you can try to pick-pocket the passers-by or help drag corpses out of the river. But don't pick up the diseased corpses! You don't want to catch cholera and die, do you? Because you will. This game isn't messing around.
