the morning sun shone through the blinds of Matt’s apartment. the blinding light caused him to awaken from his slumbers with Peter snuggling closer to him than last night. he looks so damn cute in this position, Matt thought to himself. Matt brushed the curly boy’s hair out of his face unaware that Peter was already awake. Peter softly smiled as he looked up to see his lover's beautiful sleepy face. “do you have any plans for today?” the younger boy questioned with his eyes lazily closed. Matt replied with a quick ‘no’

they snuggled each other with what felt like hours enjoying each other’s company. the room was silent but it was a comfortable silence which they haven't had in awhile consider what they both do during the daytime and nighttime. it was always hard for them to find time to be close with each other, usually when Peter is off to do his things, Matt would be at home or buried in work. they longed for each other’s affection for so long and they were so thankful that nothing could bother them today.

by the time it was almost 11:30am, they were still in bed until Matt suggested that they should go out to eat. Peter refused not wanting to leave the warm bed, Matt chuckled, “well, what do you want to do today, my love?” he said as he stroked Peter’s hair lovingly. “Can we just order takeout for today and watch movies?” Peter suggested, it wasn't rare for them to order take outs since they both barely have time to cook meals although Matt disliked the idea, he agreed anyways. “sure, we can. order anything you’d like and its on me,” he smiled.

the rest of the day would consider as dull for most people but for them it was everything, they got to share each other’s company by playing games that Peter had bought when he got his first pay, they binged Black Mirror even when they both have seen it a million times but it was like a comfort tv show for them despite how fucked up the show was. Matt would stare at Peter everytime he gets excited when he wins or when his favourite scene comes on, he smiled to himself.

Peter noticed Matt smiling but didn't say a word until he noticed that Matt wasn't watching the telly, “Matt! you’re missing my favourite scene!” Peter whines as Matt laughs. “I know, I know, but I can't help looking at you when you get excited over these kinds of things. you look so adorable,” Peter blushed. Matt pulled Peter closer than ever and give him a peck on the lips to which Peter happily accepted it. today was for Matt and his loverboy.

My favourite superheroes are always the ones that are incredible talented and powerful with a amazing legacy of things they have done and people they have saved and allies in all the right places.

But when you look at them as a person????? Absolute human disasters. 10/10 would forget to put a lid on a blender before turning it on. Would forget their own birthday. Would walk across town before realizing they forgot their car and their shoes.

My favorite character trait of Peter's, which I feel a LOT of people forget or don't want to acknowledge (gives me Luke Skywalker vibes honestly in the inability to accept certain negative traits of a beloved character), is that Peter has like, very real rage issues and often does have to stop himself from committing the same kinds of mindless atrocities as his villains. I know this is a silly panel, but it happens over and over and over again-- "I'm going to save them, but they don't deserve it", "I'm the good guy because these people deserve to die and I'm still going to save them", "I could and want to let these people die but I won't do it because I'm overcoming my own ego".

Not to mention how often he has to stop himself from not just passively letting people die, but actively stopping himself from MURDERING people. Happens so often.

It's so good, imo. I LIKE that Peter has structural ego and rage issues, because it makes the "with great power comes great responsibility" mantra SO much more potent. It DOESN'T come easy to Peter. It's hard, and the things his villains-- usually science experiments gone off the deep end JUST LIKE HIM-- do to him and his loved ones could borderline be used as justification FOR the violence he wants to commit.

(It's another reason why I value and appreciate whenever Spidey and Daredevil get to talk, because they have similar rage issues, but they deliver and treat those issues in VERY different ways that I find very fascinating)

Like the more I dive into the meat of Spidey comics, the more I kind of enjoy that Peter.... Isn't really that nice of a guy half the time? And it's kind of something the movies don't really get a chance to work with-- which is fine! MCU and comic movies in general are a different canon, they are not 616 or ultimates or whatever, they're their entire own dimension as far as I'm concerned-- so getting deeper into 616 Peter Parker is such a treat because he's a dick half the time! And I love him for that!
