Roman!Percy headcanons

I figured I should start posting more stuff bc my blog is just so freaking random. Anyway, here are some of my headcanons for roman!percy that appears in Vas Bellicosum 

       -despite having been raised in California since he was six, Percy still has a stubborn hold out of his Manhattan drawl, which makes him sound like a mix between a west-coaster and a New Yorker. He normally suppresses it but when he’s tired or angry, it slips out.

      -being raised by Lupa makes him even scarier than he appears in canon. He’s got a lupine(get it?) grace to his movements that can unsettle most people

      -he’s also more muscular than canon, because he spends so much time both wearing armour and marching around. Not quite as broad as Jason, and nowhere near as large as Frank, but he’s not as lean as one might think

     -he growls when he’s angry. It’s a passover from Lupa and the other wolves, and it’s one of those things that make people weary of him, except for Jason, who finds it hilarious. 

    -Percy has collected pretty much the oddest cast of characters in New Rome. He’s friends with Jason, which surprises most people, but he also spends time with Michael Kahale, a son of Venus, and Leila, daughter of Ceres and best friend in his cohort. Which, speaking of,

  -he’s in the Fourth Cohort. Seen as only slightly better than the Fifth, Percy and his cohort have always worked hard to earn the respect of the others.

im actually not a big fan of alex fierro, or at least how dear old rickald wrote her. im genderfluid, and i have some other nb and genderfluid friends, and shes such a caricature of how an actual genderfluid person acts. i like her as a concept, but as with everything rickald does, the execution was absolutely terrible. just thought i would put that out there (not trying to be rude, if im being rude im sorry)

oh! no you’re not being rude don’t worry!!! i’m not trans myself, and i don’t know the extent of how badly trans folks are treated, but i do know that y’all face a lot of hardships and discrimination. i was so happy when rick introduced a genderfluid character, it actually helped me learn a little more about trans issues and identities and stuff cuz i did some research after reading. i didn’t know she was written like a caricature, likely because of my own ignorance as to what it’s like to be genderfluid. thank you for telling me this. i do think that rick did a good thing in introducing a genderfluid character, but if the way he did it is offensive to trans folks, i won’t talk over y’all. would you mind telling me specifically what’s wrong with alex’s character portrayal? not trying to sound like an idiot, but i don’t particularly understand your stance. but i want to!! you don’t have to explain but it’d be cool if you did, i’d like to know more so i can identify stuff like this in the future !! (also thank you so much for this ask, i really appreciate it!!!)

percy and hazel both steal frank’s hoodies like all the time. he pretends not to notice and ask to have them back bc both of them are actually super cute

tbh everyone notices that hazel and percy wear his sweaters i mean. how could they not. they are both too small to fit in anything of frank’s

they always share a bed. even if they had to stay at a place with only one single bed they would still all sleep together 

actually they all had to sleep in a rly small bed once and hazel and percy just ended up sleeping on top of frank

nightmares are pretty common for the three of them so when one of them wakes up crying they get completely covered in kisses. they stay up telling stories to each other until they’re tired enough to go back to sleep

they cuddle so much tbh sometimes they go to bed way too early just to cuddle. in the winter whenever they have a holiday they spend the whole day cuddling 

percy has so many nicknames for frank and hazel tbh how did he even come up with them

hazel and percy always start singing when they cook together and frank thinks it’s super cute

there always had to be at least two of them making supper tbh bc whenever it’s only one of them the other two start to make out in the next room and then the one who’s cooking just ends up joining in

it happened one time when percy was supposed to be making supper but frank and hazel were kissing like. right next to him. he ended up burning the food

forehead kisses are really important to frank so he gives forehead kisses to both of them all the time. percy literally always starts blushing

tbh percy just blushes whenever hazel or frank kisses him and he just. loves them so much 

hand holding is like percy’s favourite thing! sometimes he holds hazel’s hand while running around camp singing uptown funk

The whole “Percy’s lesson in HOO was that he didn’t always have to be a hero and needed to let others have the spotlight!” is dumb for two reasons:

1, Percy doesn’t like “always being the hero”. The kid has literally almost always wished for normalcy, even the “demigod version” of normalcy which was literally just a peaceful summer at camp

and

2, Rick literally the only reason half your audience picked up the Heroes of Olympus series is because of Percy. Then you’re gonna tell us we have to care about these other characters more than him with far less introduction and storytelling to their own? Is trying to push Percy out of the “spotlight” really the only way that Rick could think of making us care for the other demigods?

Here’s a list of things that would’ve made HOO better because I’m rereading House of Hades and am bitter

Lupa telling Percy his name was Perseus, not Percy

Percy not getting his memories back right away or all at once

Percy being Praetor for longer

On that note, Percy arriving at CJ sooner

Percy & Reyna friendship

Percy & Hazel actively calling each other their sister/brother

Percy remembering that he actually goes by Percy

Percabeth not being romantically together (yet) 

Or, Percy remembering Annabeth but not remembering they were in a romantic relationship (yes, i love tension)

More Hazel, Frank, and Percy friendship moments

Frank jokingly calling Percy his Great-great-great-(however many greats)-uncle

Percy in turn referring to Frank as his however-many-greats-nephew

People realizing that Percy and Leo are infact quite intelligent

Cutting out Annabeth’s “im oppressed because im blonde” thing

More Frank and Hazel POVs

Calypso and Leo not becoming romantically involved

Nico and Percy having an actual discussion after the “not my type” thing, especially if Percy came out as bi

Percy drawing parallels between Luke and Jason and being very wary of Jason

Simultaneously, Percy being attracted to Jason and panicking because he’s still in love with Annabeth

Nico & Leo friendship

More Reyna POV (idk where, but i want it)

Percy and Hazel bonding over being BIPOC, further sparking their sibling feelings

Fewer “Seaweed Brain”’s and “Wise Girl”’s

Instead replaced with “Perce” “Annie” and “Beth”

More nicknames between friends. Ex: Percy and Frank calling Hazel “Hazy” or Piper and Leo calling Jason “Jace”

Percy and Hazel completely dominating the battlefield together

Percy and Leo “we’re only real friends in the most serious moments”

Leo not blaming Percy for anything involving Calypso

Jason actually being concerned after Percy said “I thought I deserved it[to die]” and talking to someone about it

Percy’s scars from Mt. St. Helens being uncovered and the crew just being like “wtf dude??? you okay?” 

Percy actually dealing with his trauma from Gabe, which is clearly still there

Hazel & Leo friendship

Frank not turning from fat to buff, that’s fatphobic, he can still be just as strong

Leo not teasing and bullying Frank after the first few times

Frank kicking Jason’s ass while sparing

Hazel kicking Jason’s ass while sparing

Percy kicking Jason’s ass while sparing

Percy & Nico bonding over being afraid of their powers

Nico asserting himself as Percy’s friend, because everyone seems to doubt it even though they’ve known each other for 3+ years???

Nico, Reyna, and Percy friendship, they’d just be iconic

Reyna, Percy, Frank, and Hazel friendship, also iconic

Percy’s sacrifice in HOO not being stepping out of the spotlight (that was never a problem for him??? he has literally 0 self-esteem)

Reyna and Percy switching places (Jason is definitely not Percy’s equivalent)

Percy being the “storm” in the prophecy (Poseidon is also the god of storms, why were they certain Jason was the only other option??) (Then his sacrifice would be letting someone else die because his fatal flaw would keep him from letting that happen normally)

GROVER

Jason’s character being further developed (currently he’s the spice equivalent of flour)

Annabeth NOT telling Percy to not manipulate other fluids

Percy and Nico learning and expanding their abilities and not almost dying/being killed

Annabeth not complimenting her own intelligence by degrading Percy’s

On this episode of "Elena's essays" we have:

Why Piper and Drew being friends would have made more sense then them fighting over a guy

Let's start with the villanizing of feminine women

Piper had already bad experiences with feminine girls : all the feminine girls she met were the "mean girl" kind of type

Her and Drew (a feminine girl) being enemies perpetrates the stereotype that all feminine girls are mean and that the key to being strong is not being feminine

Which is a common trope in Rick Riordan's books, where all the strong badass girls don't really care about makeup and stuff (this is not a critique to them, they are amazing)

Now here's why them being friends would have benefit both

Piper meeting a feminine girl who isn't mean

Drew meeting a new sister, someone she can trust

Them opening to eachother

Them supporting each other and ruling the Aprhodite cabin together

Drew having someone who appreciates her and defends her

Piper having someone who is kind to her and will not abandon her (*coff*you know who I'm talking about)

"The opposites attract each other" but in a platonic way

Drew understanding Piper's family situation and getting defensive whenever someone says anything about it

Piper understanding Drew's situation with Silena and getting defensive when anyone mentions it to Drew

Them trusting eachother more than anyone

If you attack one, the other will come after you.

Them visiting eachother everytime they can

Them hosting a Aprhodite cabin pride festival

Them talking about their crushes together and joking about the time they both had a crush on the same guy

Just them being sisters (in every sense) and caring about eachother

This, my friends, is what we could have had, but no, we got another love triangle instead.
