Hollyberry and Ancient Ramblings
I was thinking about the ancients and how they were affected after the Dark Flour War, specifically Hollyberry and realized something.
The other Ancient all experienced devistating loses to thier Kingdoms, themselves, people they cared for or, all of the above.
White Lily ofc has immense guilt for all the harm she caused and trauma from the Night of the Witches, Pure Vanilla lost his best friend (and arguably his lover), and His Kingdom, feeling horrible about himself and unable to be fit as an ancient hero or a king, Dark Cacao, terrified at the prospect of another war and the loss of his kingdom and friends, began working his royal court and soldiers to the brink of starvation to fortify the wall, And Golden Cheese’s Kingdom was brought to, not even ruin, brought to DUST, unsavable dust with all her cookies in it, thus beyond recognition causing her to build the virtual Kingdom and live there with her delusions.
Hollyberry is different, things seem to be okay for her, She has a big, loving family and her Kingdom is prosperous. But she still left for years after the war. It didn’t effect the Kingdom too much, besides the fact that she was unable to shoo away Pitaya, but she still left for a reason.
Hollyberry left her kingdom after the Dark Flour War because she was ashamed that she unable to protect those she cared for. We know that Hollyberry’s Kingdom and wellbeing were the least affected by the Dark Flour War compared to the other ancients which leads to me believeing she has some sort of survivors guilt.
You could argue that all the Ancients have survivor’s guilt in thier own capacity but in a different way. The other ancients have it in comparison with thier subjects mostly, but Hollyberry feels it specifically in comparison to the other ancients and thier losses.
We joke about how Holly was least affected and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon, but in all seriousness, she definatley didn’t leave the war without her own issues to deal with.
Idk i just thought of this, Maybe I’m wrong and I need to replay the story, but I just wanted to ramble about this possibility and late night thougt. Besides the Cookies of Darkness and Dark Cacao Cookies, The Ancients are some my favorites to ramble about.
