i always forget that the hilarious "physics magic" scene happens in the beginning of s02e12 profiler profiled. the mood whiplash.
thinking about derek's relationship with the kids in his neighbourhood

the way he became everything buford pretended to be. im four minutes into this episode and already in shambles.
morgan's defensiveness when hotch is talking about prying into his life is going to make me cry. he puts on a mask of anger in this scene but i think its pretty easy to see that he's scared.

like:

that is fear
SARAH: Did he tell you Gordinski's been harassing him since he was a kid? REID: Why's that? SARAH: Well, you'd have to ask that bastard. FRAN: Oh, Sarah— DESIREE: It's true, Mom. DETECTIVE DENNISON: (sarcastic) Sure it is. SARAH: What are you even doing in my mother's house?! DETECTIVE DENNISON: They asked me. REID: Not really.
reid 😭for some reason i feel the need to mention that he's eating cake while he says that and it's not focused on at all he's just being an asshole in the background

decided to try and transcribe the letter Buford (🤮) wrote to get Derek's record expunged and sealed:
To Whom It May Concern, My name is Carl Buford and I am writing this letter on behalf of Derek Morgan, who is now in your custody and faces criminal charges. I am in charge of a Youth Centre which helps keep boys like Derek off the streets, and away from the lures of the neighborhood he comes from. For the last few years I have had the pleasure of coaching and teaching Derek, not only in football and other sports, but in life as well. He is a smart kid with a lot of anger, which he sometimes directs into the wrong direction. However, this latest bout of trouble will, ultimately, prove to be a great learning experience which he can use to grow into a mature, responsible adult, if you allow him to stay out of prison. In prison he will have no one like me to guide him, to coach him, or to help him see the error in his judgement. While I am not his father, I feel he is a son to me. His father was murdered in front of him when he was ten years old. His mother is a strong woman who does her best, but in the neighborhood Derek comes from, as you know, Your Honor, the streets can be dominant influence. If Derek Morgan goes to prison, you will surely see him back front of you in no less than a year. If you help keep him out of jail, he can give back to the community from which he has taken. Derek may be the finest young man I've ever known. He has a considerable talent for football, which I believe he can use to get out of this neighborhood and earn an education. A criminal record may jeopardize potential scholarship offers, of which Derek will have many to choose from. I believe in my heart he will make you proud if you offer leniency.
I think there's at least another paragraph because Garcia reads something that's not onscreen ("stake my personal and professional reputation") but that's what's visible.
this is going to sound weird but. watch derek's neck :(((
again he masks it by getting defensive but that is fear
watching season 1 & 2 of criminal minds: why does morgan get so angry and emotionally involved when the case involves children
watching s2e12 crying your eyes out: oh ok

i've said it once, i'll say it again
Shemar Moore should have gotten an Oscar for Profiler, Profiled
makes me tear up every damn time
i think derek should have gotten to kill him actually. im glad he immediately gets arrested after saying this because he says all this shit not knowing derek isnt the only one listening but i think they should have let derek get a swing in first <3 or two or three or four or five or six hundred.

finished profiler profiled. im sorry i had no analysis even though it's an episode that would lend very well to analysis but honestly it's like fifteen consecutive gut punches i couldnt.
anyway. so this was my second time watching profiler profiled (got up to 5x01 in my first watch, couldnt watch for a while and started again, got up to 2x01 in my next watch, couldnt watch for a while. introduced my girlfriend to it and we're stuck on 2x05 because she's very prone to secondhand embarrassment and is nervous about the ending (which i spoiled for her because she asked me to). and honestly? i think i might have had a harder time getting through this ep the second time than i will getting through revelations.
not that revelations isnt going to be extremely hard to get through, and if profiler profiled does wind up being harder, it will be a pretty close tie. i think mostly it's just how real profiler profiled is. carl buford is such a realistic and terrifying portrayal of what a lot of serial predators actually look like. he's not a mustache twirling villain. he's charming, he's likable, he's admired and respected and trusted. of course a lot of it is a mask and we see that in the closing minutes of profiler, profiled, but in his daily life nobody knew.
and that's true frighteningly often.
(this is not me comparing traumas or how rough the episodes are, just talking about me and my reactions to them)
this is going to sound weird but. watch derek's neck :(((
again he masks it by getting defensive but that is fear

2x12 - profiler profiled would like to talk
