THE ONE WITH THE BOWS.

“Daddy, stop moving!” Mi-na huffs, her chubby little fingers fumbling over Yoongi’s bangs once again. Her voice gets serious as she says, “Unless you want to look funky-wunky.” 

“I’m sorry. I’ll sit still, I promise.” Yoongi holds back a chuckle as his daughter continues to braid his hair; two, one on either side.

Yoongi had been growing his hair out for a while now and, at first, you were loving it—running your hands through it any chance you got, reveling in the feel of his long strands tangled in your fingers, a tug here and there. Your husband knew the way to your heart, for sure. The scissors all ended up in a locked drawer for a reason…

But your carefree, simple styled husband didn’t much care for cutting it, letting it grow longer and looser than Princess Bubblegum’s. Usually, he’d use hair ties or headbands to push it out of his face now, but today, he’d forgone all of that when spending the day at home with your daughter. But with the constant pushing-it-back just for it to fall back and frame his face like a doll, your daughter had quickly turned her attention from her My Little Pony styling head to her new client. Mi-na’s hair salon was open for business, and dad was ready to write rave reviews.

Starting with a brush of his hair with her magic purple brush, she tittered a quick, “hold still,” and bolted up the stairs, her little feet padding all around upstairs before they came pattering back down, almost screeching to a halt back in front of daddy with a pack of hair ties thrust in his face.

“Daddy look at my new ties! Which one do you want for your hair? This one’s my favorite!” She pointed to the little pink bows, the ones that matched her own braids. Yoongi took a look, almost overwhelmed by choice—there were cupcakes, there were strawberries, there were even little panda bear ties!

“You choose, princess.” Yoongi’s deep voice rumbled, and Mi-na immediately pulled the pink bows (that were so pinkalicious) out of the pack and set them aside before getting to work on his braids. 

“Ta-da! All done, daddy, look!” Mi-na hopped around, holding up a tiny handheld mirror with princess aurora on the other side for him to see. Yoongi turned his head from side-to-side to get the full 360 angle—though Mi-na’s braids turned out more like little pigtails, making him look like Boo from Monster’s Inc., he couldn’t be more happy with his look. 

“Well, don’t you look precious.” You’re giggling at the sight that meets your eyes first thing as you enter the living room—father and daughter wearing matching bows. Your giggles only intensify when Yoongi looks over at you, pigtails bobbing with each move of his head. 

“Don’t I?” He stands up, lifting his daughter up with him. “We’re pinkalicious.” 

“Cute.” You reach over, flicking a pigtail to make it bounce. “It suits you, baby. Doesn’t it Mi-na?” 

“We’re matching!” Mi-na grins widely, as if that answered your question. Of course, it suits daddy, mom! He matches me, duh!

“Gotta keep up with my material girls, don’t I?” His free hand sneakily snakes around your waist, pulling you in. You roll your eyes, but he doesn’t miss the lift of your lips. 

“Okay material girls, is dinner ready yet?” Yoongi and Mi-na both look at each other with comically wide eyes—they were in charge of making the hot dogs, but had gotten woefully distracted,,,,,, oops. 

“They’re almost ready,” Yoongi offers sheepishly. Mi-na nods, adding “We almost set the table….” 

“Hm.” Yoongi lands a quick peck to your lips, pulling back with a cheesy grin. Why he thought that’d work, is beyond you. Why it actually does, is yonder. 

“Alright, you guys get the table, and I’ll get the hot dogs.” You pull away from the two pairs of bows staring at you, but not without a quick tug of Yoongi’s pigtail. 

“We got it,” Yoongi calls behind you as you head into the kitchen. And he has every intention of doing so—but not before he snaps a few quick flicks in front of the full-length horizontal mirror in the living room, Mi-na’s head pressed cutely to his.

You end up changing your lock screen that night.
