Demon Ciel still occassionally gets scared of horror films. Sebastian doesn't stay with him 24/7 because the contract isn't technically valid anymore and Sebastian does need to eat. But it's not unusual for Ciel to summon Sebastian in the middle if a night, not because he had a nightmare, of course, or is afraid of the creak of the floorboards. But because he wants to ask Sebastian to make him tea with honey. That's all it is.
Ciel : don't you hate it when you lash out on your butler and he, raises his eyebrows, checks the time and says "Hm. I think you're just hungry" so you yell "No I'm not HUNGRY I'm ANGRY at you !" and then you have lunch and you're not as mad as you were anymore ? Don't you hate it ?
Vincent: You're a sadistic, vile creature incapable of love.
Sebastian: (smirks) But of course. I'm a demon. Did you expect me to : pretend this contract-
Ciel: (coughs in the other room)
Sebastian: (rushes in) Are you alright? I don't like the sound of that cough.

One of the few times Sebastian allows himself to admit that he's grown fond of Ciel is when Ciel has an absolutely terrifying nightmare. It's one if those ones where he wakes up screaming for Sebastian to come help him. At first nothing Sebastian can say can convince Ciel it wasn't real. Then, when Ciel finally realizes that nothing he'd use to prove the dream was real is there, he realizes Sebastian is right and throws himself sobbing into Sebastian's arms.
Sebastian is taken aback. He's seen his young master wild with fear before, but Ciel has never broken down in tears in front of him. Not like this. Sebastisn can't help but think of how tiny and frail this human is, and for once, Sebastian can't lie to himself that he hasn't grown attached.
The other demons think it's hilarious that a child has Sebastian Michaelis wrapped around his little finger...until Ciel decides to conquer hell because he's bored.
(Sebastian: *wipes away tears of pride*)
Ciel's father figures are very supportive of their son...
Ciel: Does the fact that I've killed people make me a bad person?
Vincent: No. You were forced to take on a role that should never have fallen to you. I'm sorry I've let you down. Let me take the burden now.
Baldroy: No. You were forced to grow up too fast. I'll be here to protect you, even if that means killing on your behalf.
Sebastian: By human standards, of course it does, but human morality is so fickle. No matter what you do, I will support you and stay by your side.
Ciel's seen all types of horrors in his time as Watchdog. He's grown used to it, but every now and then, the cases get to him. On these nights, he usually asks Sebastian to stay with him until he falls asleep. Over time, Sebastian starts to realize which types of cases bother Ciel the most and stays without being asked.
Monsters are real. Plenty of them live under Ciel's bed. But they never come out because they're too afraid of Sebastian.
The time originally planned for armageddon has long passed. Yet the antichrist has not even been born. The demons go to Lucifer, hinting that he needs to get busy.
He tells them that he's changed his mind. Looking after one child is difficult enough. He really can't imagine a demon child being any easier. Now would they mind clearing out? It's almost his young master's tea time, and he was hoping to make a new cake recipe.
AU where Sebastian is Lucifer. He's more powerful than he lets on, but he hides it. Being the devil can be quite boring, nothing new under the sun and all that, and the contract provides a much-needed diversion.
While he and his master are going about their revenge plot, they are approached by several high-ranking shinigami. Othello tested the sample he took from O!Ciel, and he has both shinigami and human DNA. They want to take him for further testing.
At first, they try to convince O!Ciel to go with them willingly. When that doesn't work, they try to convince Sebastian to let them take him, saying it's doubtful a demon could consume a soul that is part shinigami.
Finally, they attack. Sebastian was going to hold back as he always done, but then while Sebastian is busy with a few, one manages to grab Ciel.
When he hears his young master cry out in fear...well, Sebastian sees red and decides to let the ordinary demon act drop.
"Sebastian...Take care of Ciel for me.
It's funny that I'm asking a demon to take care of a child who has sold his soul.
But I trust you enough to tell you this.
I know that there are times when he acts like a stuck up brat ...
but he is just a child.

We have been in a Dadbastian drought (yet there's so much potential for fan media)
Personally, I believe we have been in a severe Dadbastian drought. I'm not really referring to canon Sebastian, so don't get confused with that.
Anyway. Kuroshitsuji has been around for like 14–17 years? Since it's been around for a while there should be no Dadbastian drought. However, in my opinion, there is a lack of fan media — whether that be fanfics or fanart.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that there's so much potential for fan media.
Like wdym, the trope where “boy who has lost everything has to make a deal with a demon who will eat his soul in the future; however, the demon starts to get parental and slowly, slowly realises he doesn't want to eat the boy's soul” doesn't sound appealing??
Can you imagine all the angst and hurt/comfort possiblities there are??
