Event dead trees have their own purpose in the environment. They are indispensable resources for all kind of birds.

This morning Mr. Pileated Woodpecker has managed to carve three big holes at the bottom of this dead spruce, which are going practically to the center of it. This spruce is at least 100 feet tall and is approximately at a 150 feet from the house. So if it has to fall toward the house, it will stop at more or less 50 feet of it. So no big worries but, could be a threat for the shed, cars...

Even with that, cutting a tree here never was in our book. Dead or alive. And dead nature can offer so many beautiful pictures to photographers. Right?
