December Doodles - Tumblr Posts

Now I'm in the habit after Inktober and Sketchavember, I decided to do a colour picture every day during December! Although for the sake of my sanity, they're only small doodles and I'm allowed to go back and fix them the next day.

I might or might not upload them every day, here are the first four anyway.

Day 1 - adventures in coloured ink! Tabitha is helping out around her Granny's potion shop. Don't worry, that's not her flying broom.

Day 2 - Meruch again, in watercolour, because this seemed like a good opportunity to show that Vrega do look a little different to humans when they're in colour. He might have come out a little too purple. The idea is that their blood is purple, which makes their human-like skin look greyish.

Day 3 - Fret in coloured pencil, because I wanted to practice his skin. He should have pale, pearly skin and hair with dark 'cracks', like a silver birch.

Day 4 - I'm doubling up! Alexis and Leilus in coloured pencil. Adventures in coloured lineart and drawing long, disgusting tongues.

Day 5!

I drew a colour picture of Larkspur to match the one of Fret, because I had a space left next to him in the sketchbook. Although now she looks like she's gazing wistfully at him, woops.

Day 6 - drawing on a train!

I was on the way back from Birmingham and listening to Peter and the Wolf, so I doodled up a little illustration in pencil and washed over it with watercolour. I couldn't mix colours very well because, you know, train, but I think this technique could work well for a larger illustration.

Day 7

I was going to draw something really neat that I saw on the way home, but then I was really tired so instead here's teenage Meruch worrying about his new Ereth lines. He hasn't had his Trial yet, so there's no back spikes.
