Stages of Grief: The Guardian, The Young Wolf
---
Denial:
A gun was laid down beside the Hunter Vanguard, a rasping chilling realization fogging up their lungs, their arms rapidly pulling out their Ghost. Their Ghost claims he couldn't do anything, Cayde coughs.
"Tell them... That the Vanguard... Was the best bet I ever... Lost..."
Words that shattered them.
Isolation:
The body of the Hunter Vanguard lays beneath a wreath, emblazoned with a symbol of the Vanguard, the Hunter Vanguard's friends weep. One vows vengeance, the other stops her. A voice speaks, it is them.
"You won't have to. Uldren Sov... is mine."
And the Guardian leaves to the stairs.
Anger:
They pick up the weapon, Cayde's weapon. Not the bastard Sov's. They aim it at Uldren Sov, contempt in their eyes, Petra with her pistol. Ghost quivers out an objection, they are silenced.
"Everything I did, I did for her."
The Guardian closes their eyes, and the trigger is pulled.
Bargaining:
The Prophet doomed, he calls the Guardian to his aid, as he is about to be struck, he is saved, by the Crow. Time may lessen pain, but guilt hollows them as they hold the Hawkmoon once again. The Crow freed, the Guardian speaks.
"Because you're a Guardian."
And the two flee with Osiris[Savathun] to the Last Safe City.
Depression:
Battlegrounds covered in bloody ichor of enemies, the Elikani shuttled to the Last Safe City for shelter. A queen returns with arrogance in stride. The Guardian can barely catch their breath, watching as Crow learns the ropes, pulled along by Osiris[Savathun]. The Crow wishes to help, but is forbidden. Something grasps the Vanguard on the matters of Crow, but is it Fear, Vengeance, or Protective resolve?
"Our past lives aren't supposed to matter. I'm beginning to wonder why I'm the only Guardian being judged by mine."
The Guardian can only watch as Crow's hand touches Savathun's crystal prison, and he recoils.
Acceptance:
The Guardian, though having avenged Cayde, soldiers on. The Light in one hand, Dark in the other, these powers merely tools, not morals, to use in the fight against their enemies. But they wonder. Crow is not an enemy, but a friend. When he gained those dreadful memories of Uldren Sov, had any good memories been tucked in? Or had he been shown only Darkness?
Imagine the Young Wolf and Crow arm wrestling in the helm-
Mfing Shaxx comes in and starts narrating it so loud that other people come in to see-
When Zavala gets there he is so confused at the ungodly amount of people there who have started cheering because the Young Wolf just added another tally on the board for games they bested Crow in-
IMAGINE ZAVALA GROUNDING BOTH YW AND CROW LMAO-
Another fic because work bores me, based around the ending of the first mission of Witch Queen

"How long have they sat there?" He asks.
"Talkin' to me?" Amanda grunts, attempting to fix the motor in her hands.
"Are you still-"
"I am. But they've been sat there for three hours and hasn' moved an inch. Wrench."
Crow takes his right hand and picks up the wrench, handing to Amanda as she goes for a bolt on the motor grunting at the effort to twist it.
Crow looks to the Guardian again. They're sat in a corner where it was rumored Cayde once frequented, their hands form a small bowl as their Ghost floats there, the two watching the other. Never speaking, never moving.
"The tension is killing me. Hold on." The Crow moves with a flourish, going from Amanda's workbench to the shelf corner in seconds.
He bends down on one knee, and reaches for their shoulder-
"Ah-" Crow slightly startled, a gloved and gentle hand holding their wrist.
The Guardian looks to him, breaking eye contact with their Ghost, the tilt of their head inquiring one question, what?
The Crow huffs, "I was afraid you turned to stone with how long you sat still."
The Guardian huffs, a small smile gracing their lips. With a whoosh of Light and a grunt they stood up, then turned to Crow. The look in their eye is somber now, and their smile is gone.
They sign. "When I got to the portal that took me to Savathun's Throne World, I encountered something impossible."
Crow snorts, "Guardian, knowing you, doer of things impossible, you probably crushed it and went on your merry way."
The Guardian flinched at the word 'crushed' and shook their head. "You don't understand, it was a Hive Lightbearer. A Hive Knight, with Light!"
Crow went slack jawed, "Hold on, I haven't heard about this yet-"
"They didn't want others to know until a lid was put on it, especially the Lightless Civilians. Crow... It had a Ghost!"
Crow's eyes went wide, grabbing the Guardian's shaky hands, which were brimming with explosive Dark Stasis. "Calm down, calm down. can you tell me what happened next at least?"
"It was an instinct. I couldn't control myself, I didn't want it to do that, reviving it I mean. So I grabbed it, not to kill it! But to stop it and I-"
The Guardian stopped signing and reached into their pocket, then pulled out a handful of white, bone-like fragments.
"Crushed it." They said, not with their hands, but their mouth.
If Crow wasn't freaked out yet, he was now. The Guardian went silent. Invisible tears falling down their face.
Crow wasn't much for affection, but seeing their friend and idol crying in front of him? He had to do something. So with a small maneuver he grabbed the Guardian into a hug.
"If it makes you feel any better," Crow whispered, "At least it was just the one time. You probably won't have to do it again."
The Guardian shuddered. Something tells them that something different will happen.

And then I precede to destroy nearly 400 Hive Ghosts within the first week lmao
Lots of Destiny peeps have been saying what their Guardian put as their item in the ritual. What I wanna see, is some random mfer who put in a chicken toy, y'know the one where you squeeze it and it makes the loud high-pitched wheeze noise? Yeah, that, I wanna see someone do it. I wanna see the others look over in confusion at it. I wanna see Eris Morn's absolute look of just, "-_-"
