penelope didn’t normally going on coffee dates.. she preferred a more lavish experience yet here she sat fixing her hair and waiting. her date was now over thirty minutes late and she had been antsy before the jump. she wasn’t perfectly on time herself (tho a lady is never late, everyone else is simply early) but nothing worth leaving over. she sat there tapping her nails on the table becoming more and more frustrated but if the blonde was going to be stuck with a bill she guessed she would rather it be for a cup of coffee than someone more pricey. she sighed, deciding that she should just make the most of it– meaning take advantage of this perfect selfie lighting coming through the window.
she adjusted her hair in her front camera before calling out to someone, “excuse me!” her voice probably too loud, “does my hair look okay? i want a second opinion.. it feels a little flat?”
WHILE AURORA HAD ALWAYS thought of herself as a tea girl ( after all, coffee was just a tad bit too strong for her taste ), that didn’t make her shy away from the wonderful cafés elias had to offer . if drinking coffee wasn’t her thing , at least the blonde could appreciate the warm scent , not to mention the cafés also offered a variety of other wonderful drinks . something she’d been finding herself indulging in lately were smoothies , particularly the strawberry flavored ones , & the ever fascinating iced tea . her initial reaction upon discovering the drink was to laugh , but once she’d tried it , aurora fell in love with the cold version of her favorite drink . in fact , that was what she’d picked up for herself today .
as she sipped from the beverage , she thought about all the things she could possibly due today . she could go for a walk & watch the people go about their day ( one of the many wonders of not living in isolation anymore ) , perhaps go to the pier ... but her train of thought was cut the moment a loud voice spoke to her , almost making the woman drop her iced tea in surprise . blinking once , twice , she managed to bring her attention to the matter at hand: a stranger’s hair . turning her attention to the other woman , she spoke . ❝ flat ? i’m sorry , but i think it looks beautiful . you must take great care of it ! ❞

penelope let out a squeal, she was completely wrapped up in the complement. it had made her day (she almost totally forgot about being stood up for her date). “merci!! merci!!” she thanked, giddy with excitement. penny was always very full of herself, “i grew it myself.” she giggled, “it’s a very extensive and expensive process to keep up. i would love to pretend i just rolled out of bed like this but alas!” she sighed, looking over to the girl who was gorgeous in her own right. “are you off to somewhere special?” she questioned, “or would you want to sit and have a drink with me?”
❝ DE RIEN , ❞ aurora responded in her calm , usual tone before letting out a small giggle , finding herself surprised by the other girl’s excitement . it was good to know that she’d made someone’s day , even if it was by doing something as simple as complimenting their hair --- & she was merely speaking the truth . her smile grew a bit as the other pointed out how much of a process it was to make her hair look this beautiful , ❝ i see ... well , that means you are a dedicated person , doesn’t it ? i think it’s a wonderful trait to have . ❞ she assured with a small not , hands holding her almost empty beverage close to her lips . at the question , aurora blinked . she wasn’t used to invitations from strangers , but still ... elias was supposed to be a safe place , right ? ❝ oh , me ? no , not at all . i would love to stay ! my iced tea is almost over , i wouldn’t mind having more . thank you , ❞ & so , she allowed herself to take the seat across from the other woman . after downing what little was left of her iced tea , the blonde smiled at her new acquaintance . ❝ what will you be drinking ? ❞

kinsley didn’t mind attention. she was her mother’s daughter after all.. but staring was impolite at least that’s what her mother said (never stare unless you’re staring at your own beautiful reflection). so, when the girl in front of her was goggling at her and munching on her apple kinsley felt some type of way. so, here she replied, “i asked if you had a staring problem..” her words weren’t as harsh as normal.. but not the nicest delivery. “yeah, sounds fun. you sure there isn’t something in that apple???”

OH , RIGHT . ❞ chuckling , she tries to hide the awkwardness that’s taken over the princess , shifting her gaze to her candy apple as if looking for a distraction , something else to focus on . ❝ um ... it’s more of a sleep disorder but that’s not really the point here , is it ? ❞ in addtion to that , rosalie didn’t really like for that aspect of her life to be the first thing people learned about her . when asked about the candy apple , she giggled , ❝ nah , i doubt it ! it’s just really delicious , or maybe i only think that because it’s been a while since i had one . should we get one for you , too ? i’ll pay , as an apology for my accidental rudeness . ❞

“oh.. not to be.. whatever but that sounds like a bummer.” kinsley said when she mentioned the sleep disorder, “i guess i can forgive you.. not like it’s you’re fault. and there are worse people to gawk at so i can’t blame you..” kinsley never did apologies so this was the closest the other blonde would get. “but, i’ll take you up on the candy apple still. i’m kinda hungry.” kinsley didn’t know why but she decided that maybe just maybe she should be a little nicer to this one. just this once. it was probably because in the back of her mind she couldn’t figure out how she knew her or why she looked so familiar. so, with enough chit chat she could pin point it. “i’m kinsley by the way.”

AN APOLOGETIC LOOK QUICKLY TAKES OVER HER FACE , ❝ oh no , don’t worry ! i mean , it is a bit of a bummer but i’m used to it . some nights are just a little more ... adventurous than others , i guess . ❞ she promises the stranger with a smile , though it is quickly replaced by a giggle . ❝ i agree , and your outfit is gorgeous ! buttercup , yes ? from the princess bride ? ❞ rosalie was definitely not a stranger to the tale . ❝ it’s one of the best i’ve seen all night ! and of course , shall we ? ❞ giving a small nod in the direction of the candy apple stand , she offered a smile to the other blonde . there was something about the other girl that seemed oddly familiar , but the princess assumed it was just a baseless thought . as she other introduced herself , rose smiled . ❝ it’s a pleasure to meet you , kinsley . that’s a very regal name , it’s lovely . i’m rosalie . ❞

“sounds.. interesting.” kinsley was never one to pry into things that weren’t truly her business. and this girls sleeping disorder.. well that clearly wasn’t a stranger’s business. “hm, yeah, that’s me. my mom made it. thanks.” kinsley did love a good compliment and soaked up the compliment as much as she could without being too obvious about it. “you’re….” she paused eyeing the blonde. what could she be? part of her was trying to put pieces together, “who exactly are you dressed up as?” she asked, kind of disappointed in herself for not knowing. kinsley started off to the candy apple stand with a small smile. normally she wasn’t so kind with strangers but there was something about this one that was a little more comfortable.. easier to get along with. “thank you. guess it fits.. my mom and dad call me princess all the time.” she said with a light laugh, “which is corny but i guess it fits.” god– that was embarrassing she shouldn’t have said anything. “but you’re name is very nice too.”

GOODNESS , she seems incredibly talented ! i bet your wardrobe is full with the most wonderful clothes . ❞ not that rosalie’s wasn’t , she loved her own clothes very much , but neither she nor her mother were the most talented when it came to sewing or designing clothes . giggling at kinsley’s confusion , the princess smiled . ❝ i’m romeo . well , leo dicaprio as romeo . usually my brother seth dresses up as the character but this year’s an exception ! ❞ and she was more than happy to play a role in stopping her twin from wearing a romeo costume yet again . with a smile on her lips , she nodded at the other girl’s comment , figuring that it meant she wasn’t a princess . not that it meant anything to rosalie , of course . ❝ i think it’s a very sweet nickname ! my parents call me rosebud , which is ... cute , though it often makes me feel like a child . ❞ another laugh . ❝ how are you enjoying the festival so far ? did you go to the haunted trails ?! ❞

“she’s a designer.. penelope lightfoot.” was she name dropping her mom? sorta but not in a way that was braggadocios. she just was proud of her mother’s success. “she makes almost everything we own. always has. i’m very proud of her.” kinsley said, an awkward smile forming. but she couldn’t help it. and then she began to explain her outfit. “oh, romeo. okay. cool.” she wasn’t good at compliments. but it wasn’t bad.. kinsley would argue that it was lazy of her sibling to continually wear the same costume but maybe now isn’t the time for an argument, “you could’ve both dressed as romeo. would’ve clashed but been funny. did he dress in your costume?” she questioned, semi-interested. “rosebud. cute.” kinsley said with a nod, “hm, it’s going.. i haven’t been to the haunted trails. not sure if anyone could actual scare me. heard it’s a bit weak. have you been?”

❝ YOUR MOTHER IS PENELOPE LIGHTFOOT ?! ❞ it comes out a little louder than the princess would’ve liked , but can you blame her ? anyone who knew her or her mother would know just how much rosalie adored penelope’s brand . it was what most of what her elias wardrobe consisted of , same with aurora’s ; in fact , it was she who introduced her daughter to the wonderful world of penny’s haute couture . ❝ i love her designs , everything is so pretty --- it’s all my mother and i ever wear ! i should have known by the cut of your dress ! ❞ rose almost felt silly at this point , but maybe it wasn’t that embarrassing , right ? either way , this was quite an honor to her ! giggling at kinsley’s question , she shook her head lightly . ❝ no , he’s dressed as jack dawson from titanic ! i guess we could’ve both been romeo , but i would pale in comparison to seth . he ... really takes the part to heart , i think , ❞ she told her with a chuckle . rosalie knew her twin’s antics way too much . ❝ to be honest i’m really happy to see him wearing something else ! & no , not yet , but i could go with you if you’d like ! it can’t be that scary , right ? i mean , there’s children here . ❞

oh great. kinsley thought to herself. she didn’t hate the idea of someone knowing her mother.. it was kind of hard not to. her mom had become quit the name. she smiled softly. or as softly as she could. “oh thanks. she’s the best at what she does so.” kinsley wasn’t great with words when she felt awkward. she was feeling lots of things. she never dealt closely with her mother’s clients but she was aware of who this one was.. and it wasn’t making things easier. especially now realizing she was talking with a royal. “but, really thanks. mom is great. i wouldn’t want anyone else making my outfits.” which was true. “and you both wearing them probably means a lot to her.” wow– this was the nicest she’d been in a while.. what was happening to her? “oh- another classic leo. maybe one year you can convince him to dress as the catch me as you can guys… you can be hanks and he can be dicaprio. it’d be a hit.” she suggested, it was one of the only other movies she thought would be a more original ideas. “well, let’s go check it out.. no fun doing shit alone, right?”

❝ IT MUST BE FUN TO HAVE SO MANY PRETTY CLOTHES at your disposal , ❞ spoken with a giggle , though it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that rosalie had plenty of beautiful outfits herself . she was a princess , of course she did ! ❝ maybe your mom would like to join us for tea sometime ? you’re also invited , obviously ! mother would be very happy to have both of you over , she loves having guests around our home ! ❞ rosalie didn’t mind , she was a social butterfly through and through . besides , she thought it would be a cute thing , having her mom hang out with someone whose work she obviously admired , and kinsley also seemed wonderful so far . laughing at the other blonde’s suggestion of costumes for herself & seth , rose nodded agreeingly , ❝ i do love that movie ! although let’s be real , my tom hanks costume would be kinda boring ... maybe i’ll find a way to make a suit look cute ! ❞ something very possible . with a bright smile , she nodded in the direction of the haunted trails & started to walk . ❝ you’re completely right , it’s no fun at all . do you scare easily ? i used to be a big scaredy cat as a kid , would run to my brothers for absolutely no reason . ❞

penelope sighed as she looked at the two articles of clothing she held in her hand. she wasn’t sure what to do… fall was approaching and that meant she was going to have to purchase more clothes. not because she needed to but because she just loved shopping so much that any occasion was a good occasion to go. “how do you feel about this?” penny asked the person closest to her. “is a velvet skirt too 2015? or am i just overthinking it?”
THE SKIRT DOESN'T STRIKE HER as something aurora herself would wear . not that it is in poor taste or anything of the sort , she's quite fond of skirts as is , just ... well , not this one . still , the princess was quite sure that penelope had the gift of making everything look good on her . ❛ i don't think it's dated at all ! but even if it was , i believe people have a soft spot for vintage looks , and you should wear what makes you happy . i think you'd look lovely in this skirt ! ❜

penelope always thought that aurora was too sweet. not in a bad way but in a good way. kind of like when you bite into your favorite treat. you always want to go back for seconds. she was always polite too.. in the begging penelope was surely suspicious of that type of behavior normally people like that were always trying to get something from her. but soon she realized that aurora was just that way. “yeah, i guess it could be considered vintage.” penelope shrugged throwing it into her shopping basket. “i’ll pair it with someone cute like a turtleneck. keep it very french. maybe add a beret!” she said throwing in a french accent to the word, “what are you shopping for, deary?”

PERFECT . i should expect no less from you , miss hainline . ❜ a giggle escapes her , but there's a part of aurora that does mean those words . accessorizing is fun , that should be a known fact ! when she becomes the focus of the conversation at hand , aurora's feels her eyes become wide for a second , only for a small grin to appear on her lips . ❛ well , to be honest i'm not too sure myself . i've been ... contemplating finding a job for myself , what does one wear to that sort of occasion ? ❜ the grin becomes wider , ❛ i know that if there's anyone that can help me with this , it's most definitely you . ❜
