I have seen The Little Mermaid live action...and now I will be scouring the internet looking for good fanfiction cuz why notšš
THE MOVIE WAS GREAT BY THE WAY, FU- Ahem, I mean, for those of you who were hating... how does it feel to be as wrong as two left feet on a fish?
Sidenote: We (I was with my sisters) took my nephew as well because he's a huge fan of Halle already, and he LOVED it. Said it was the coolest movie ever (and he likes Jurassic World).
Something that is funny to me is the way that Disney makes fairytales for little kids so different from the traditional versions. They are always so squeaky clean and PG 0 or 6 and oftentimes donāt contain all of the content anymore.
For example: Ursula from The little mermaid
The version of Ursula I got to know as a 7yo was one that didnāt only want Ariels voice for the potion, but made every single step she did feel like a thousand knifes were stabbing her and if she didnāt marry the prince within 100 days, she would die. But, after Ariel got on land, the Prince had already married who he thought was his saviour, so Ursula came to Ariel with another offer: if she killed the newlyweds she would get her fishtail back. Ariel couldnāt bring herself to do it and - as promised by Ursula - died.
No wholesomeness, no crabs, no happy ending - of course Disney couldnāt have made this into a banger for little kids, so they cut out those parts of the story.
I just think itās sad, that so much of this truly awesome story is not well know.
