✧A Splash Of Gold And Love✧ Léon Marchand x OC
Hello Anon! Thank you for your Ask!. I hope my imagination meets your expectation x
warnings: established couple, both athletes, no prior knowledge to either sport, mature themes, press conference
The crowd at the Olympic Aquatics Center was on its feet, the roar of cheers and applause echoing through the arena. The French team had been holding its breath all evening, knowing this race was different. This was Léon Marchand’s race.
As Léon touched the wall, the world seemed to hold its breath for a moment, waiting for the scoreboard to confirm what everyone already knew. **1st place.** Gold. The time blinked on the screen, and the arena erupted. He had done it. Léon Marchand was an Olympic champion.
Gasping for breath, Léon hoisted himself out of the pool, water streaming down his muscular frame as he struggled to comprehend what had just happened. His vision was a blur of lights, colors, and faces, but one face stood out among them all.
The cameras cut to the stands where Sophie, France’s star diver and Léon’s best friend, was on her feet, screaming in triumph. She was surrounded by their teammates, but her eyes were only on Léon. She had always been his biggest supporter, his rock, and his closest friend. Together, they had shared the grueling highs and lows of their Olympic journeys.
The world had long speculated about their relationship. Articles, social media posts, and even their own teammates had teased them, convinced there was more between them than just friendship. But Léon and Sophie had always laughed it off, insisting they were just friends, bound by a shared passion for their sports.
But tonight was different.
Without thinking, Léon bolted from the pool deck, his legs pumping beneath him as he sprinted toward Sophie. He heard the gasps of the crowd, felt the eyes of millions watching, but none of it mattered. She mattered.
In a flash, he was in front of her, her wide eyes searching his, and then, before he could second-guess himself, he kissed her. It was soft, almost tentative at first, then deeper, full of all the emotions they had kept hidden for so long. The arena around them seemed to melt away, leaving just the two of them in that moment, as if the world had stopped spinning.
The crowd went wild. The cameras zoomed in, capturing the scene as the commentators tried to process what they were seeing. Léon and Sophie pulled away, their foreheads resting against each other’s, both of them breathless, but for different reasons now.
“I guess we can’t deny it anymore,” Sophie whispered, her voice shaking slightly as she tried to process what just happened.
“Not a chance,” Léon replied, grinning like a fool.

Later that evening, they sat together at the press conference, the bright lights and flashing cameras making them feel more exposed than they ever had in competition. Léon’s gold medal hung around his neck, but it was the questions about their kiss that dominated the room.
“So, are you two officially a couple now?” one reporter asked, a knowing smile on her face.
Sophie’s breath hitched as she glanced at Léon. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and her palms were sweating. She hadn’t expected this. This was different from diving off a 10-meter platform into a pool; this was diving headfirst into something unknown and very public.
Léon, sensing her nerves, gave her hand a reassuring squeeze under the table. “We, uh…” he started, but Sophie’s mind was racing too fast to process his words. She could feel the eyes of everyone in the room on her, waiting for her response.
“We, um…” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yes,” she finally managed to say, her face flushed. She felt like a deer caught in the headlights, her usually calm demeanor nowhere to be found. “We are… a couple,” she added, her words stumbling over each other as she tried to keep her composure.
The room buzzed with excitement, cameras flashing as more questions were thrown at them. Léon chuckled softly, the tension breaking as he looked at Sophie with pure affection. “You’ve all been right this whole time,” he admitted, trying to take some of the pressure off her. “We’ve been denying it for so long, but tonight, I guess we couldn’t hold it in any longer.”
Sophie nodded along, her hand gripping his tightly under the table as if it were her lifeline. The press conference continued, but Sophie’s mind was a blur. She answered questions with as much poise as she could muster, but every now and then, her voice would waver, her nerves getting the best of her.
As the night wore on, and the questions finally subsided, Léon leaned over to Sophie and whispered in her ear, “You did great.”
Sophie let out a shaky breath, leaning into him, the cameras catching every second of the moment. “I was so nervous,” she confessed, her voice trembling.
Léon smiled, his arm slipping around her shoulders to pull her closer. “I know, but we’re in this together now. We’ve been a team for so long, and now, we’re going to be the best team of all.”
Sophie smiled back, a little more confidently this time. “Together,” she said softly, “we’ll take on the world.”
And with that, they stepped out of the spotlight, ready to face whatever came next—together.
