Don't Use Not Stuttering As A Way To Validate People - Tumblr Posts

; thinking of making this a thing I'll do like weekly but:

" things not to say: because they're actually offensive !! "

; the term " (blank) did not stutter ! " used to 'validate' what someone has said or whatever; is offensive. Because, even if you didn't mean it that way, it implies that if said person did infact stutter, what they said would be invalid / less valid. Which is not true !! And it's ableist !! It's offensive to people who have uncontrollable stutters, it invalidates what they say just because they stutter. Even if you had no ill intentions, it still subtlety invalidates people with stutters. And that's not okay.

; an alternative I've seen and used myself is " (blank) did not mumble ! " Mumble is way less offensive and still gets the message across,, :]]

PS. ; if you know any terms like these or just things people say regularly that are actually lowkey offensive, then message me and I'll make something about it !! /nf /gen

PPS. ; that goes for anything that you want me to make an educational post about though, just message me and I'll do some research and yeah !! :]
