Portside Pent(y)house

Back in the day, Alex and Lily used to be quite the party animals. In fact, they first laid eyes on each other from opposite ends of the dance floor at their favorite nightclub, Portside Partyhouse. (As Alex tells it, it was love at first sight; Lily’s version of the story is that initially, her attention was mainly drawn by Alex’s atrociously bad dance moves.) A couple of years ago, the local council decided that the old factory had become too much of a safety hazard and announced their plans to tear it down. Ever the romantics, Alex and Lily started a campaign to save the building that contained so much of their shared history, eventually managing to persuade the council to not demolish the building and instead, sell it to them for a low price. Alex and Lily hired a company to remove all of the old and rusting machinery threatening to fall down upon their heads, thoroughly cleaned the place (some of those stains could not be unseen), and slowly but surely transformed the building into a modern, light-filled, two-bedroom home. They did make sure to keep some of the original signs and photographs that were scattered throughout the building and have put them on display in the downstairs foyer, as a tribute to the place where they fell in love.   --- This is a renovation of the Portside Partyhouse lot by @pictureamoebae. HOHENZOLLERN ALLEE 72-76

a German-inspired 1950s apartment build + a furnished flat

A build download that was in the works for almost a month and made me realise how much I love building local architecture even though it's not the easiest within the constraints of TS4.

It's meant to represent a realistic German apartment build, that is a bit run down and yet still feels homey and nostalgic to those of us growing up near or in these buildings. There's one furnished flat that is ideal for 2-3 sims and furnished in a retro 60s-90s look, that I hope you'll enjoy! This is also a BIG 1K followers gift, with which I want to show my deepest appreciation to all my followers, thank you so much!!

First a little history/backstory to this build:

This build is something you'd see very often in Middle to Northern Europe, less so in the UK, because brick builds there look similar but also different and I based my build off of Northern German brick builds.

The red brick used for these builds dominates the townscapes in quite a few cities where I live and has been used for a few centuries (see Brick Gothic). This build that I based on a real building, however, is more modern and was probably built after WW2, as the design choices, like using tiles on the facades of brick builds is something distinctively 1950s. I know there are older examples, but these buildings usually have more design and decor elements on the facades. These red brick builds were built en masse starting with the 1920s and were usually meant for low-income households. The same goes for the 1950s brick builds, which were built on top of ruins of older buildings destroyed in the war and oftentimes were cheaply constructed and usually don't receive the same appreciation that older pre-war brick builds get, so quite a few are already being demolished for more modern builds.

So what do you get with this build?

Hohenzollernallee 72-76 is a 40x30 lot that I placed in Evergreen Harbor on the Sprucewood Square lot. I created 2 versions of the building, one as a normal residential lot and another as a residential rental. Just choose whatever you want! There are 6 different flats, that have been renovated at different times, which is apparent from the condition of their kitchen and bathroom.. Each flat has its own basement room and the garden is shared between all tenants and there's a shared laundry room in the basement as well.

You'll also have a restaurant shell, the Burger Lab that is not functional currently, but you could make it so if you want.

The furnished flat is playtested and ideal for 2-4 sims max and is heavily 'lived in', meaning very cluttered. I personally see an older woman living there, whose husband already died and her daughter left as soon she turned 18, but the interior was never changed or renovated. I don't know, you could probably come up with a lot of story ideas!

CC is mostly included. You'll find an Excel file with the specific file names and the dl link for all CC that is not included. The build will probably still look okay-ish without the excluded CC but I strongly recommend downloading it, if you do not already have it.

Took a break from DHD and decorated an eco apartment in Evergreen Harbor. I’m kind of obsessed with it 💗 The sim who lives there is a random townie who moved in and she got a makeover too! Her name is Tadia Augustine.

Been playing around with the sims in Evergreen Harbor a bit, and the Sterling Rico family got a makeover.  I don’t really understand their EA outfits since they’re meant to be mogels who take advantage of other sims lol. I tried to reflect that with their new look. Bess Sterling Jules Rico

Here’s a quick makeover I did of EA lot Rockridge Springs in Evergreen Harbor. I made it for the Thorne family, which includes my new favorite toddler, her parents and their beagle Scout. Of course I had to include a picture of little angel Evie 💗🎀

Another EA makeover, this time it’s the Harris family from Evergreen Harbor, you know the weird one with a dude wearing a paper bag on his head for some reason?? I sort of made them farmers unintentionally because I’m itching for Cottage Living!  Francine Spencer Cletus Harris Faye Harris Jeb Harris Gideon Harris There’s also Tex the dog and Talulah the cat who is queen of side-eye. Here’s the Harris familys’ newly renovated house, EA lot Miner Mansion in Evergreen Harbor. I was going for shabby chic meets country charm, I wanted their house to look like it’s really lived-in. They’re expecting a baby, and it’s going to be a girl (thanks mcc)! That’s why the last room is a toddler’s bedroom. At this point I’m just f-ing around til Cottage Living comes out 🤣

Francine Spencer and her gf woohoo’ed in a dumpster in the seedy part of town, didn’t even know this was a thing! I about died watching the stink fume cloud.

Immediately after, she ran away. I would too if someone made me do dumpster woohoo 😂😂😂
