the characterization changes for ocelot between each mgs game is so funny because when you put them all together it makes sense but if you go solely by release date you go from weird old man who gets off on torture and acts like a cowboy despite being russian (mgs1) to weird old man now psychologically tormented by the ghost of some young british guy whos making him fuck up his plans & possessing him through his arm (mgs2) to hotshot twinkish young soviet major who meows in battle and loses on purpose as part of a plan where hes acting as a quadruple agent and also hes in love with big boss now (mgs3) to oldest man possible now full time possessed by that british guy who only snaps out of it and becomes ocelot again by getting beat to shit by a guy he thinks is big boss who he then tries to kiss and then he dies (mgs4) to never mentioned at all (peacewalker) to a guy you initially perceive as like. your saviour and best friend who trains your dog and helps you escape evil fire guy and is even more of a cowboy now (start of mgsv) to the man who orchestrated an insane brainwashing scheme that violated many people’s human rights all in pursuit of a guy he was desperately in love with. when you put it all together it makes sense, of course he gets off on torture he had his gay awakening to big boss getting tortured which explains why he acts weird to snake, of course he can get possessed his dads a psychic, of course he would double cross solidus AND gurlukovich this is what he always does, of course he couldn’t appear in peacewalker he wouldve prevented most of the important moments from happening, of course the thing that makes him remember who he is would be being reminded of operation snake eater with how much it formed who he is as a person. but also HOW did we get from him purposefully killing interrogation subjects and referring to torturing snake as his show to “the more men i interrogated the more people saw me as just that… the interrogator. it helped cover my real objective of keeping you safe.” “you went that far for me?” like what are we doing here
