Hold my girl

Mickey « Fanboy » Garcia x f!reader

Summary: Mickey thinks he has been neglected by his fiancée.

Warning: Way too much fluff, but eh he fucking deserves it

This imagine came to me while listening to Keywest's cover of George Ezra's Hold My Girl. I really like his cover and George Ezra's acoustic version, I wrote while listening to it so they lend themselves equally well to listening while reading!I couldn't do something so cute and dripping with love with any other character but Mickey, yes I'm guilty, I love him way too much and Danny deserves a lot of love. 😭

Hold My Girl

Leaning against the bed headboard, her computer resting on her thighs, her legs stretched out and crossed over the sheets, she was writing the speech that she would have to give to her colleagues in the coming days. She was on edge, she was probably gambling her career with this project and everything had to be perfect.

Footsteps were heard on the stairs and Mickey appeared by the door, she felt the mattress sagging next to her, coming to lie beside her, leaning on his elbow, he observed his fiancée without saying anything, a smile emerging at the corner of his lips, he found her particularly attractive when she was focused. Not looking away from her screen, the words flying on the document, Mickey took support on his hands to hoist himself towards her and deposit a kiss on her cheek, what made her smile and she finally took the time to allow herself a quarter of pause. She saved her document and turned her head toward him.

"Madam the business woman would honor me of one moment of attention? " Said he, passing his hand in her hair then slipping it on her nape and depositing a new kiss on her temple.

"You have my full attention." She closed her eyes under the pleasant effect of his hand in her hair.

"For how long?"

"Just a minute."

This elicited a small laugh from the pilot. "You really honor me."

She opened her eyes again and leaned her head against the headboard, giving him a small sorry smile.

"I have to finish this, it's -"

"Very important. I know it." He finished in her seat. "But honey, you've been spending your evenings on this for two days. I know what it means to you and your career, but it's been two days since you gave me any attention. I'm going to end up thinking you don't care about me." He joked by addressing her a look of sadden puppy what had the merit to make her gently laugh.

"I'm sorry, I got caught up in it and I'm so afraid I'm not going to make it, so I'm just tweaking everything."

"No matter what you say, it's bound to be perfect. As always, you wouldn't be where you are today without it. They're lucky to have you, they know that, and they'll have no choice but to trust you with the project, because you'll be the only one to make a fucking success of it."

She bit her lower lip to prevent a huge smile from forming on her face. She had been very lucky to meet Mickey, he had always been very supportive of everything she did and he was indeed her first fan, certainly the only one too. Just as she was his. Their relationship was based on a mutual encouragement and respect that would have made them both lift mountains.

With one hand he closed the screen of her computer and came to put his lips on hers and she started to laugh.

"You were too optimistic Garcia." She opened her computer again and he grumbled as he stepped away from her.

"Let me finish, I promise you that from tomorrow you will be the only object of my attention."

"Tomorrow is a long way off." He grumbled like a child who has been told no.

He leaned over again and kissed her shoulder before getting up from the bed and leaving the room. She went back to work, trying to regain her concentration. A few minutes passed before the first notes of a song began to sound from the living room. She smiled at her screen, knowing the song all too well. Footsteps were heard again and Mickey came to stand on the other side of the bed where he knelt beside her removing the computer from her legs, she did not even try to protest this time.

"Give me a minute to hold my girl."  He said, her heart melted completely as he took her hands at the same time, she then slid off the bed and he straightened up, he then drew her against him, putting one arm around her waist, one hand behind her back, the other on her hips. She slipped her arms around his neck, their faces being only a few inches one of the other, he posed his forehead against hers, guiding her to the rhythm of the melody. It was on this song that he had invited her to dance for the first time, after which they had never left each other and this song had become theirs. Her hand slipped into his neck and then into his hair, closing her eyes, both enjoying the moment without saying anything. She decided to let go and leave this speech behind her, at least until the next day. Because no matter what she might say or what might happen, she could do anything with a man as supportive as Mickey by her side. Because that's what love is, supporting each other in every moment and it's without any hesitation that she would accept it at the altar soon.

The club throbbed with life, lights synchronized to the pulsing beat, wrapping Danny in a haze of laughter and chatter. He reveled in the afterglow of his favorite football team’s victory, surrounded by friends raising their beers in celebration. Their voices echoed with animated banter, recounting highlights of the game, but his attention kept drifting. Amid the raucous energy, his gaze landed on her—dancing alone on the floor, completely lost in her own world. Her eyes were closed, lips moving softly to a song she seemed to know by heart.

For a moment, he watched her, mesmerized by the way she moved with carefree abandon, a smile playing on her lips. She radiated an infectious joy that made him want to know her, to understand the stories behind those dancing eyes. As he took a sip of his beer, he noticed a guy sidling too close to her while she ordered a drink, his intentions clearly clouded by alcohol. A flicker of concern ignited within Danny.

For a moment, he watched her, mesmerized by the way she moved with carefree abandon, a smile playing on her lips. She radiated an infectious joy that made him want to know her, to understand the stories behind those dancing eyes. As he took a sip of his beer, he noticed her walking to the bar, and a guy sidling too close to her while she ordered a drink, his intentions clearly clouded by alcohol.

“Hey there, beautiful,” the guy said, leaning in a little too close, invading her space. “Why don’t you let me buy you a drink? I promise you’ll have a much better time.”

She tried to back him off, her demeanor serious, but he kept pushing, his breath heavy with booze. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Just one drink, what do you say?”

A flicker of concern ignited within Danny as he watched the interaction unfold. He could see her discomfort growing, and without hesitation, he made his move.

“Hey, babe, I was looking for you everywhere,” he said, striding up with an easy confidence and lightly touching her arm. She looked at him, confusion etched on her face, but it faded as she caught his protective glare aimed at the intruder.

“Did you order the drinks already?” he continued, feigning casualness while glaring at the intruder.

“Uhh yeah. He’s making them as we speak,” she replied, her voice steady.

The guy frowned, clearly taken aback. “No man should leave his girl alone. Come on, just give me a chance.”

Danny stepped in closer, his tone firm but calm. “Back off, dude,” he said, his voice dropping an octave, each word sharp with warning. “If you get any closer, you’re going to regret it.”

With a huff, the guy finally stumbled away, defeated by the protective aura Danny had created around her. She turned to Danny, relief noticeable in her eyes.

“Thanks. I had it handled, though,” she replied, a hint of defiance in her tone as she turned back to him.

“Yeah, it seemed like it. But guys here can be unpredictable. Better safe than sorry, right?” he said, casually leaning against the bar.

“Right.” She smiled, her gaze lingering on him for a moment longer before shifting back to the bartender. “I’ll cover the next round of whatever he’s drinking.”

Danny chuckled, shaking his head. “You really don’t have to do that.”

“Take it as a thank-you. You’re not going to refuse a free drink, are you?” she shot back, a playful glint in her eyes.

“Touché.” He raised his beer, and they clinked their bottles, laughter bubbling between them.

“So, do you always rescue girls in bars?” he teased.

“Only the interesting ones,” she replied, a spark of mischief in her gaze.

As the night wore on, they exchanged stories about their lives—trivial things that somehow felt significant. She shared her favorite pizza toppings while he recounted an embarrassing moment from the last game he played in high school. Their laughter mingled with the music, a thread weaving them closer together.

“So, are you here on a trip?” Danny asked, genuinely curious.

“No, not really. I just moved here recently. Figured I’d see what all the fuss is about,” she replied, her enthusiasm infectious.

“You don’t mind doing things like this alone?” he asked, leaning in.

“Not at all. I’ve traveled solo everywhere. There’s something liberating about it. If I want to dance until my feet hurt, I’m going to do just that.”

Danny admired her spirit. “I like that. Freedom has its own charm.”

As the music played on, the club morphed into a backdrop for their connection. With each laugh and shared glance, the air between them thickened with unspoken possibility.

“Okay, so… come dance with me,” Danny suggested, emboldened by their chemistry. She raised a brow, surprise flickering in her eyes.

“Aren’t your friends waiting for you?”

“They’ll figure out I’m not coming back,” he replied, extending his hand. She hesitated, then took it, a spark of adventure igniting in her smile.

They moved to the dance floor, lost in the rhythm and each other. As they swayed together, the music enveloped them, and it felt as if they were in their own little universe. The vibrant lights reflected off her eyes, making them glisten like stars in the night. Danny spun her around, her laughter ringing like music, and their eyes locked in a moment that felt electric.

Every brush of their arms sent shivers through him, and every shared smile drew them closer. His hand rested lightly on her waist, the proximity of their faces igniting a spark of undeniable chemistry. She seemed completely at ease dancing with this stranger who felt oddly familiar, her movements fluid and free.

With each playful tease, Danny's smile widened as their faces ended up mere centimeters apart, the tension between them palpable. Time seemed to suspend around them, leaving only the intoxicating connection they were weaving in the dim, pulsing light of the club.

After a while, they found a quieter spot near the bar, the energy of the club still buzzing but softer now, the crowd thinning out. “So, what do you do when you’re not dancing alone in clubs?” he asked, genuinely intrigued.

“I’m an artist. I paint. It helps me express everything I feel inside,” she revealed, her eyes brightening.

Danny leaned in, fascinated. “That’s amazing! What do you paint?”

“Mostly landscapes and portraits. I love capturing moments. You know, like this one,” she said, glancing around the club before settling her gaze back on him, a warmth spreading through their conversation.

The vibe shifted subtly as they both realized the night was coming to a close; the club was beginning to empty. “I guess it’s time for me to head out,” she said, glancing around.

“Yeah, me too. I’ll walk you out,” Danny replied, feeling an undeniable urge to extend their time together.

As they stepped outside, the cool night air wrapped around them, a stark contrast to the heat of the club. The world felt quieter now, but the electricity between them still felt very alive. “Speaking of embracing special moments, am I going to see you again?” he asked, his voice dipping with sincerity, eyes locked onto hers.

“Do you want to see me again?” she shot back, a teasing smile dancing on her lips, her breath warm and inviting in the night air.

“Uhh, yeah… I would. Only if that’s something you’d be interested in, too. No pressure,” Danny’s heart raced as he searched her gaze for an answer.

Her smile softened, and she extended her hand. “Hand me your phone for a sec.”

He handed it over, watching as she saved her number under “Y/N.” “This should be a good start,” she said, her tone light yet laced with significance.

“ I’m counting on you to not disappoint me.” Her gaze lingered on his, an unspoken confession pulsing between them, palpable and electric.

Just then, her Uber pulled up, the headlights cutting through the darkness of the street. “That’s my ride. I’ll talk to you later?” she said, glancing back with a playful smile that made his heart skip.

“Yeah… of course. Take care, (Y/N). It was truly a pleasure,” he replied, his voice barely above a whisper, as if the moment was too precious to disturb.

“Same over here. Night, Danny.”

As she turned to leave, something inside him stirred, an irresistible urge to seize the moment. In one swift motion, he stepped closer, cupping her cheek with a gentle yet firm hand. Their eyes locked, and for a brief second, the world around them fell away. He leaned in, heart pounding, and their lips brushed softly, igniting a spark that sent shivers down his spine.

Her eyes widened in surprise, a fleeting look of astonishment that quickly melted into a radiant smile. She leaned into him, deepening the kiss, and in that heartbeat, everything else faded—the noise, the crowd, the night—leaving just the two of them suspended in their own private moment.

When they finally pulled apart, breathless, a lingering warmth enveloped them. She looked up at him, her cheeks flushed, happiness dancing in her eyes. “Wow,” she whispered, as if still trying to process what had just happened. “I didn’t see that coming.”

He couldn’t help but smile back, the thrill of the moment coursing through him. “Neither did I,” he admitted softly, his voice low and sincere.

As the sound of the approaching car broke their bubble, she glanced back, knowing her ride was waiting. “I guess this is it for now,” she said, her tone a blend of reluctance and excitement.

“Yeah, it is,” he replied, feeling a pang of disappointment mixed with hope.

With one last lingering gaze, she leaned in and whispered, “Goodbye, Danny,” her breath brushing against him like a whisper of promise.

He watched as she slipped into the backseat, his heart racing. With a gentle touch, he closed the car door, a final gesture filled with his warm charming smile. As the car pulled away, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this night was just the beginning of something extraordinary.

Days later, he found himself gazing at his phone, fingers hovering over the screen as he typed:

“I can’t stop thinking about you.”

After hitting send, a smile spread across his face, the thrill of anticipation enveloping him like a warm embrace. She was different, and every part of him ached to uncover the countless details that made her who she was. Little did he know, this was just the beginning of a connection that would change everything.
