but also! Finbarr (Finnbhear) is the king of the fairies yes, this is explained in the book. WHAT THEY DON’T EXPLAIN, is he’s known for leading young people (“young maidens” but still relevant) to trick them and trap them forever. don’t believe me?

relevant last line is very relevant. sure tony’s not a girl, but i don’t think the actual figure’s intentions (for obvious reasons.) are important as much as the theme of takes notice of someone, takes them away forever.

again, something fae in general are known for, not just this guy. is that not weird? that a series with predominantly Christian themes (ffs, ucn is Hell.) suddenly has this? idk maybe it’s just cuz it’s one of my favorite interests, but that’s a very interesting name to pick when that’s the first result that comes from researching it.

also lil side note: rabbit/hares (it’s usually hares but shhh) are such an important symbol in celtic mythos cuz the represent luck n stuff but they’re also heavily associated with the Otherworld and the fae. hm.

especially since the other stuff is relevant too (crystal’s appearance is how An Morrigan is usually described, how she’s also a Goddess of Prophecy [SOMETHING TONY LITERALLY DOES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK. BOY LITERALLY PROPHESIED HIS DEATH] like crystal’s warning?? prophecy.) so i’m not even just looking into this too far, you’re probably SUPPOSED TO ACT LIKE TONY AND RESEARCH.

i mean the book literally says itself at the beginning that it’s a mystery wrapped in subplots that seem irrelevant but are actually quite important at understanding the key themes
