Okay okay … I have broken down each chapter that Rebecca Yarros has put for her pfp this week. Im pretty sure it’s a countdown but it’s fun to look deeper into it !!

So this is what I found, and also my theories on it !!

I think what’s most important for these chapters is the Epigraphs above each chapter…

Chapter 3 : “Blue Dragons descend from the extraordinary Gormfaileas line. Known for their formidable size, they are the most ruthless, especially in the case of the rare Blue Dragon-tail, whose knifelike spikes at the tip of their tail can disembowel an enemy with one flick”

Chapter 22 : “The first rush of power is unmistakeable. The first time it forms to you, surrounds you with a seemingly endless supply of energy, you’ll be addicted to the high, to the possibilities of all you can do with it, to the control you hold in the palm of your hand. But here’s the thing, that power can quickly turn and control you”

Chapter 31 : “Everyone thinks most Riders cadets die from dragon fire. Truth be told, it’s usually gravity that gets us”

All 3 Epigraphs could be referring to Xaden and his story in onyx storm :

Chapter 3 : reminding us of Sgael and how pissed she is at Xaden for becoming Venin

Chapter 22 : Xaden did get new power .. so maybe this is telling us that Xaden might get completely addicted to pulling power from the ground and maybe the power ends up controlling him

Chapter 31 : Violet and Xaden refer to each other as their own gravity in Chapter 58 of iron flame. So maybe hinting at someone’s demise

So all of this could just be telling us that Xaden is about to have a hell of a ride in Onyx storm

Or it could just be a count down and I’m looking WAY TO FAR INTO THIS !!!

I’m also thinking this could have something to do with Violets 2nd signet, and i have 2 theories on that … but I’m still working on it !!

Head cannon that Xaden has been in love with Violet even before he met her.

Like just imagine Brennan is telling Xaden these stories about his little sister, and then when Xaden sees Violet at Threshing … he’s not looking at her with hate but more of like “I know you .. and I think I love you”

Idk i just like imagining this .. and it’s so cute to think about

Violet’s second signet has something to do with gravity and nothing/no one can change my mind

OH I HAVE A HUGE FOURTH WING CRACK THEORY :

Okay okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out what Tarin meant when he said “I know who and what you are” and I have thought of something

We know that when Mama Sorrengail was sick when she was pregnant with Violet, and at the time (I think??) Papa Sorrengail was doing research on feather tail dragons. And we know that the Dragon eggs hold power (or something like that, I cannot remember which book I saw this in)

So what if … while Papa Sorrengail was doing research, he found out the eggs held power and since he was so desperate to save his wife and child, he somehow fed the left eggs to Mama Sorrengail

This could explain why Tarin says what he says, why all the dragons seem to have a level of respect for Violet, could explain why Violet “commands the sky’s”, and maybe even have something to do with her second signet ??

This could also explain the territorial feeling she has with Xaden. Grated, that could be dusted off as just Tarin’s emotions for Xaden’s dragon, but Violet literally calls him mine. Like mates would do. Literally sniffs him at one point, and questions why she did that.

Idk .. it’s a crack theory but it would be cool to see this somehow worked out ????

I also have so many questions about the mind related signets …

Like if they keep their shield up, and are still able to use their power .. do they drain energy faster ???? Since they are doing a lot with their minds ? Or if they keep the shields up, does that limit their use of their signet ???

Like I need more on their powers … like is Rebecca going to explain more about those signets ??? Or are they going to be plot holes ???

So I have actually soooo many questions

about mind related signets, shields, lesser magic…..

So mind related signets…. when the person uses their signet are their shields up or down? Does it matter? Do they need to lower their shields to use them? Is it completely unrelated?

Like yeah we know people need to have their shields up at all times to block out their dragons and theoretically violet could’ve blocked Dain’s signet if she had access to Tairn's power, we also know Violet successfully blocked out Xaden from speaking mind to mind…. Did she also block his second signet? (Not that he was trying to reas her, he didn’t read her intentions after the whole amber memory thing but in theory)

But does Dain need to lower his shields to get into her memories? Is that why Varish said Xaden dropped his shields like a novice? Was Xaden reading Varish?

As far as I can tell most riders can’t tell if others have their shields up or down unless they have a mind related signet and they try to use it. And honestly not a lot of riders have those, we have a lot of element related signets, even menders are about something physical, but the shields confuse me when it relates to signets.

When Xaden and Violet talk mind to mind… are their shields somewhat lowered? Is that why if there’s another inntinnsic they would theoretically hear them talk? If so… talking mind to mind could be dangerous during battle? Would that leave them somewhat vulnerable and exposed?

What about cat? Cause like she can be blocked with runes but not shields??? Since it’s lesser magic… could riders practice that ability??

Okay okay … this is my Jesinia Favor Theory. Once person told me they wanted to hear it anyway, so here it is !!! @221b-bitch-st

You know at the beginning of the book, it has that little like disclaimer by Jesinia ???

What if that’s the favor ??? Like, I’ve always believed that every one dies in the end, or close to everyone and Violet ends up being one of the only remaining people from her group. So she helps Jesinia with the history and what happens, to make sure it’s all accurate

And Violet gives Jesinia the letters from Xaden, and the Book Of Brennan with the added stuff. And Tarin and Adarna help write it too.

This could be so far fetched, but idk.. it could be a really cool idea !!!
