Quotes of TikTok audios because I need to write them out part whatever:
This one from 10 thing I hate about you-arhehahhrhehshdhhd.
Violet-drunkleaning on like in the scene leading her back to her room past where they first kissed(idc when this is your imagination):You don’t care if I never wake up.
Xaden- subtly smiling: sure I do.
Violet- being turned around to face him: why?
Xaden: well then because then I’d have to actually try and take care of never mind keep alive a woman who actually likes me.
Violet-smiling drunk now: like you could find one.
Xaden-pushing hair behind Violet’s ear and points only for a slight money before laying down by his side-oh see, that there who needs affection when I have blind hatred ?
Incorrect quotes because I love these:
At the end of iron flame:
Violet-in Xaden’s room,telling him in an outraged tone sliced through it: That’s dishonest, Disrespectful, and deceitful.
Xaden:..So… your in?
Violet-blinks at him: I thought that was clear
Incorrect quotes of tiktok audios:
Random insert person because idfk: so your mother sent you to riders quadrants so you wouldn’t get killed for finding out the truth but your just at the riders quadrant for about a year and find out sooner then you would have in the scribes quadrants with help from the one person supposed to protect you and generals are now trying to assassinate you.
Violet: … typ shi
Xaden: “all I want is love and care…”
Violet: *no hesitation throws two knives with exact threateningly accuracy.The one woman he should definitely not want*
Xaden: “… I want that one”
just finished rereading fourth wing and i am experiencing so many emotions i cannot put a single one into words.
*spoilers*
liam dying somehow hurt even worse the second time around, even though i knew it was coming.
i didnt like dain from the beginning even on my first read but my hatred was so much more intense the second time around knowing he was violating her mind every single time he touched her
i dont really like comparing book series' but xaden and his shadow wielding is so azriel coded (that's honestly where i think the similarities end though)
i really really hope rhiannon gets to be in the next book and i really hope she somehow gets brought into the revolution because she's genuinely one of my favorite characters and i think violet needs her support
i'm so excited to learn more about brennan in the next book, he seems like he's gonna be such a great character and definitely is a great brother to violet and leader among aretia
a part of me hopes that violet's dad is also secretly alive but i know he's not
the brief mention in xaden's pov chapter about his mother hinting at some kind of trauma? i'm so curious about whether the "not going there" was meant to imply is she was maybe abusive? or if maybe she betrayed his father or something.
xaden is genuinely one of the best love interests ive read in a long time. like yeah he makes some mistakes (he should have been more open and honest with violet as soon as things started getting serious between them) but i love that he admits his mistake and wants to make it up to her. not to compare to ACOTAR again since so many people already do that but Rhys would never (i'm not a rhys hater but i'm just saying)
violet is seriously my favorite fmc of all time. i was worried in the beginning when she was described as being so physically frail that she would follow the "y/n so tiny and helpless" trope but when she said "i will handle my rucksack and i will handle myself" i immediately knew she wasn't gonna be like that and loved her for it.
the book being mobility aid positive and the treatment of violet's eds i thought was really good (obviously aided by the fact that rebecca yarros has the same condition) but i loved when tairn tells violet not to be ashamed of using the saddle and that having a body with different needs doesn't make her less than or less deserving of riding
tairn and andarna are the best. tairn reminds me of a grumpy but loving dad (my daddy issues were screaming whenever he told violet he was proud) and andarna reminded me of a sweet little sister. even sgaeyl reminded me of a slightly scary but not unkind aunt.
ive preordered iron flame and will now be sitting and waiting for november 7th to come.
will be listening to absolutely NO fourth wing hate or criticism, sorry. it's actually perfect and it possesses not a single flaw.
I'm rereading fourth wing and iron flame again so here are my thoughts on what each character's signet says about them as a person (spoilers for both books ahead):
Violet (lightning wielding): she is exactly as xaden calls her, violence. she's insanely stubborn and has quite a temper. she has a deep seeded need to defend the people and places that she cares about.
Xaden (shadow wielding): this one's easy because it's spelled out plainly by violet herself. xaden has secrets he needs to protect.
Xaden (intinnsic): signets often manifest based on need, and xaden's position as a revolutionary leader means that he needs to be able to make snap judgments about people and their intentions. he needs to know who he can trust.
Dain (memory reading): this one is also spelled out by violet. he's fucking nosy as shit.
Bodhi (signet countering): bodhi is often described as a more reasonable version of xaden. he's an incredibly neutral guy in most cases, and he's often the voice of reason during conflict.
Mira (ward building): she's a big sister, a protector. she can literally shield the people that she loves.
Brennan (mending): brennan is described as being an incredible tactician. he's a problem-solver. he fixes things. being a mender means he can not only heal people but literally fix objects.
Rhiannon (retrieving): i actually don't know if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them.
Ridoc (ice wielding): ridoc's signet is super interesting because it seems to directly oppose his fiery personality. my best guess is that it's because he's the comic relief who can cool people off during emotional moments.
Liam (farsight): he's super perceptive. there are multiple moments when he's able to gain unique insight on people and situations.
garrick (unknown): please rebecca give us more garrick moments we don't even know what his signet is i'm begging you.
this book kinda sucked *makes fanart*
Me trying to gaslight myself into believing I didn’t read a major Iron Flame spoiler the same day as starting (and finishing) fourth wing-
Xaden: Violet feels off. Earlier I made a joke and she's flipped out.
Garrick: What was the joke?
Xaden: Nothing, just about how I'm going to murder her
Tairn: Violet is under my protection
Xaden: ah, the Talk
Tairn: How about I talk, you listen?!
Oh sorry! Then could you do Violet and Rhiannon with a nonbinary! S/O whos a scribe but the dragons like them a lot, even Xadens dragon, who only likes Xaden?
Sure thing lol. If I spell anyone’s names wrong because I listened to the audiobook so correct me please:)
~~~~
•Tairn will harass violet to no end until she finally asks you out
•Andarna playing with you(head butting you, getting the zoomies like a dog when she sees you)
•Rhiannon throwing you over her shoulder and plopping you in front of feirge, who promptly licks you, making your hair stand up. Fuckin gross.
•sgaeyl HAS nuzzled you at least once. Quite unsettling. Especially since xaden can’t do anything about it.
•you, violet, and Rhi on as much of a date as possible (probably just a walk or something) and tairn shows up out of nowhere. Bro goes where he wants(especially when his human and her partners are there)
•Xaden low key hating you since you are the only other one sgaeyl likes
~~
A/N: I hope this was everything you where looking, lol! This was my first time writing one of these and I’m only like three quarters of the way through fourth wing sooo:)
Fourth Wing - the prelude to the empyrean Series
I‘m finish with Fourth Wing and OMG is this book Worth the Hype. The ending for the first book was way to good. I nearly cried at same time I was in Awe. Holy Shit is This Book Well written was the only thing I thought. I can’t wait to Start with Iron Flame.
I just have a few Issues. The Releationship between Violet and Xaden is to much in the Focus and honestly very uninteresting. Xaden himself is also not very interesting. There are moments were you think you should feel something for him, but you don’t. He’s just Rhysand and Darkling but without any of the character, he is pretty two dimensional and actually not that impressive. The tension between him and Violet is kept to a minimum, they have in my opinion just one good conversation were there is little chemistry and one good moment on the parapet but the others. They are just horny for one another, nothing else. He doesn’t try to kill her, it would be more interesting and would help the chemistry if he just try to kill her as revenge on her mom. We actually don’t know why they are attracted to each other, other than Violet saying he is so hot and that’s it. Also about Violet, everyone is saying she’s similar to Hiccup from httyd, and yeah she is but in the Tom-Way from T9R similar, I would say either. I was actually really disappointed that the Releationship between Violet and her dragon(s) and the political stuff is not the Focus of the Story. But it’s not a bad book, it’s just not the best. Don’t expect ACTOR Level of Storytelling and Action.
I can highly recommend it, for people who are new to the Fantasy Genre!
Iron Flame - Review
Burn. It. Down. Indeed. No, but I really enjoy the second part of the Fourth Wing Saga Even though I have to forgive Rebecca Yarros that she killed one my favorite Characters. The only thing I criticize is that the Love story is in both books to much. And there’s pointless smut also, which for me personally doesn’t feel like a real romantic-releationship more like a physical one. People will I hate me if I say that, but I don’t care about Xaden Riorson. I couldn't form an emotional connection with him because when I look at him I’m just seeing Rhysand and Darkling again. And the Darkling and Rhysand are similar but are characterwise very different, Xaden is a decent character but he doesn’t have what grabbed me when I read about Rhysand or the Darkling. But there are more things I really like then dislike, Violet for example she’s still a very good protagonist and I like the things she’s going trough trough out the book. It’s always interesting with her because she’s smart but also really caring. Some people compare her to Hiccup from httyd, I get they are similar, but I think personally that Hiccup is more complex and more relatable than Violet, don’t get me wrong she’s cool but doesn’t stick out that much, than Hiccup, Celaena, Feyre, Nesta, Zoya or Inej does. As I said before I don’t really care about her Relationship with Xaden that much, don’t get me wrong I like Love-Stories and Romantic stuff in books as in movies very much but at some points I had the feeling that Violet was over focused on Xaden. I know there life’s where attached to each other thanks to their Dragons, but even Feyre from ACTOR wasn’t that over focused on her mate or want to fuck him before a fucking War starts. Their Relationship is definitely the weakest part of the book and should be more in the background, I think that would’ve done overall great story wonders. The political stuff and the Dragon stuff is actually more interesting. Maybe the other three books will get me invested in Xadens Character, if it’s not his Perspective. Apropos Dragons I have to give credit to Tairn and Andarna, they were fantastic. I also really like that we see the see more of the releationship Violet has with her Dragons. But overall I have to confess I like the Dragons from httyd much more, they feel more real. I also really Love Violet and Sloanes relationship near the end, I just wished Violet would be more of a Mentor figure maybe some kind of a sister for Sloane when they resolved their conflict. Syrena and Cat I also liked, but Cat was a bitch until the end happen. But I like that Violet and her now accept each other. I just wish the side characters weren’t that blend. You know very little about them. The political that was going on was also very interesting, Navarre is a very fascinating Kingdom. The ending is very dramatic with Violets Mom sacrificing herself. Sorry but Idk why but I would’ve leave it with this ending instead of Xaden again and his red eyes and the whole scene with Jack. But overall I can recommend it, it’s enjoyable but I personally prefer the first book more. I also never saw so many roasting Videos on YouTube that for 2 hours straight. I mean yeah the Emperyean Series is a little overrated but it has potential and Rebecca Yarros is talented, the only thing that holds the Books a little back is the relationship between Xaden and Violet and also Xaden. But I wish Rebecca Yarros still the best, because I know writing, figuring out where the plot goes, plant Plottwits in it and at the same time make the characters complex and compelling is hard work. But if I were her, I would have waited a little longer to develop and figure more things out and get more feedback.
A Little Look back at the Fourth Wing Doulogy so far
I still don’t hate the books just Violet and Xadens Romance annyoed me trough one and two. Also still don’t care about Xaden at all. My biggest issue with him is how he is written and designed, he feels more like marketing and a copy and paste of Rhysand but forgetting what makes Rhysand interesting and compelling. Also can someone tell me why they love each other, aside from having sex with each other? It just feels written without emotion and thought. They are some good Ideas but they are mostly in the background. I would’ve liked to see more bonding between Violet and her dragons, more of Vi and her friends and family, more of the political stuff. The Dragons are treaten like mindless creatures. Also why does no Dragon have a saddle? Would make things much easier. I also don’t understand the comparison to httyd anymore, Violet and Tairn are not even like Hiccup and Toothless at all, they also don’t give the vibes of this incredible friendship that Hiccup and Toothless share. Name me one bonding moment between them? Also the comparison between Violet and Hiccup just makes me angry now, because Hiccup is a million times better written and way more intelligent than Violet. Violet is very two dimensional and a Mary Sue. They both have disabilities: Hiccup with his leg and Violet with her ehlers-Danlos syndrome. In httyd Hiccups metal leg is a handicap for him but he doesn’t treat it like a handicap even though it baffles him sometimes, he improves it troughout the trilogy. In Violets case her Syndrome just disappears. She doesn’t find a way to Life with it easier, it is just never brought up again or treated as important as it should in a book with a person that has this kind of illness. The only thing Violet thinks about is fucking Xaden, her whole world centers around him, her Family feels less important. Everything feels less important. And now we are back to all the relationship drama with Violet and Xaden. In the second book their romance is just toxic, they remind me a lot of Tom and Jun from T9R, but both romances weren’t even good to begin with. But the whole book I was just: Break up or finally die Xaden. Hell I was rudding more for Dain and his Releationship to Violet as Friends in the second book. Please never compare Violet and Xaden to Hiccstrid, that would be disgrace to a very natural, very well developed and written couple. That is probably the best Couple in Cinema/Literature. Fourth Wing 1 and 2 are really overrated and it shouldn’t count in the section of Fantasy and Romantsy. Erotic Fantasy fits better. I just wished the romance wouldn’t be the focus of the Story, it could be so much more fantastic and unique if we haven’t Violet and Xaden want to fuck each other the whole time. The Story suffers under it. Rebecca Yarros has talent I could see that in more of the stuff that is going on the background. But if I were you, I would have given myself more time to practice and to figure and develop stuff and characters more. (Also mind of a scriber, heart of a rider is basically heart of a Chief, Soul of a Dragon)
But thanks to these books I know exactly what I shouldn’t do in writing a Fantasy novel were a romance is in it. I can promise you that, the love story in my first book is not the center of the Story it’s actually inspired and modelled after Hiccstrid. Which every Romance Author should take a cake of, because Hiccstrid is awesome in every way possible.
FOURTH WING SPOILERS AHEAD
I think I just realized something, with SPOILER brennan Violets brother actually being not dead, this scene makes much more sense:
"Your father killed my older brother, seems like were even."
"Hardly."
So I just finished fourth wing, and honestly I think it’s really good (I might be biased because I’ve loved dragons ever since I was a kid). Everything about the world is so immersive and mesmerising, each character is lovable in their own way, the slow burn enemies to lovers is *chef’s kiss*, and the dragons are so amazing it makes me feel like a little kid again, sure that there’s magic is this world (did u get the reference??). Anyway, 100% recommend!!
