WIP Whenever
Got a soft tag from @whimsicalmeerkat forever ago but, well, not gonna lie. I've been distracted. First writing the story itself, and then just. Lets say RL has been hell and leave it at that.
However, I do like participating in these things, so here goes: From my Collabang fic: "A Kitsune's Absolution":
“This has to end. You’ve taken things too far. Too many people have been hurt already. I cannot allow it to go on…”
“It will end. When everyone’s paid for the wrongs done against you.”
“Why are you so fixated on that?”
“I am a nogitsune, you know this. But I don’t think you truly understand what that means.”
“You feed on pain, strife, chaos.”
“More than that, my purpose, my reason for being, is being a tool of vengeance. I exist to make others pay for their wrongs, their offenses. Things like wrong and right, they do not matter to me. I care not for good or evil. If someone does me offense, they will pay. And I will extend that same favor to those who summon me, who call on me to wreak vengeance when they cannot do so themselves.”
“I did not summon you.”
“Did you not? An argument could be made, considering your feelings at the time of your ill-advised sacrifice ... of the three spirits I touched during that awful ritual, I knew from the start you were the strongest of them all. I also knew that as dark as some of the thoughts of the other two might be, their desire to get even… it was nothing on your desire, your vengeance, your need for justice…”
Silence reigns for some very long, very intense seconds, before one of them (hard to tell who, exactly, as it’s said so quietly, almost sotto voce):
“That’s why we’re here…”
