My Love

Here's another poem for you ♡

Who knows the inner workings of my heart even more than I

You're a thief in the night

You're a blissful remedy

Healing me in ways I never thought possible

Opening doors I imagined forever shut

And leading me through them with open arms

But, too, you're an inescapable, tantalizing fire

A storm, raging at sea

One that haunts

Stings

Fights to the bitter end, pursuing the unattainable 

My storm, my calm

You've invaded my thoughts

Overtaking them like a commander at war

My love, you're victorious 

They're on you, now, forever

But oddly, I enjoy it this way

You hold my heart - my everything - in your hands

Skin stained crimson as you wield your power over it

I'm at your mercy

Do as you please, my love, and I will pick up the pieces

I shouldn't say I love you

Those three little words are so overused

Misused

Insignificant, compared to what I feel for you

They die out on my tongue, held there like a whisper never spoken

I refrain, for you're better than that

You deserve a new term

A new alphabet, even

A whole language dedicated to you
