Some thoughts about Genshin Lore
As of late, I've seen and read people claiming Aether is the default MC; though, the game itself gives us the option to see two perspectives from the main protagonists.
I've seen people as well pointing why Lumine suits more as MC to the story due to small details within the intro.
And of course, the part within the lore that comes from the manga.
The post itself is to analyze, not to attack oe anything.
Mihoyo is well known for being the creator of some game titles such as Flyme2themoon, Zombie Girl Kawaii; Guns Girl Z Houkai Gakuen, Honkai Impact 3rd which holds a huge lore within the game along Visual Novels and Manga; and lastly we have Genshin Impact.
Within this, statements such as Aether being MC because he appears on trailers, is just an action many companies do when it comes to games on which you can choose your MC such as Fire Emblem 3 Houses, Pokémon, Astral Chain, Caligula Effect, etc.
It is very common to display the Male MC within the trailers, and that's totally fine. But let's get into depth within this relating the manga lore and the game.
Genshin's manga has been around for some years, allas with the Prologue, it starts focusing with Vennessa, the girl who later on gave life to the knights along the fact she became a figure within Mondstadt; within this, some have stated that Aether's appearance stated him as the MC.

But there's a huge issue within this.
1. When does this take place? On what year that conversation took place.
2. The Prologue itself is a story of the Knights, Vennessa and vague knowledge of the Celestia; while the next chapters are focused on a story that happens a year before the current game starts:

In game events, near Diona's place, there's a message talking about a girl in bandages, said girl is this:

Said girl they were speaking is Collei.
Other issues that don't detail the chronology of the prologue are:
3. Why isn't Paimon there? As the game cutscenes go through, it is displayed that Paimon appears in most of them when it comes to the Main Story.
4. Why isn't Aether resonating with Anemo? Mihoyo gives details to manga when it comes to make connections between game and lore itself; and, if we compare to the current game story, the twin that was chosen ends up resonating with Anemo after touching the statue of the Seven.
5. When did the Abyss Prince/Princess took place within the Abyss order? One thing that is clear within the antagonist hiding in the shadows is that, for the Prince/Princess to pop in, said twin required to gain knowledge of the world they were in, it wasn't a plan that came after the separation of the twins happened; it required deep thought, analysis and knowledge on how each city worked along their defenses, their archons, etc.
6. Another detail that the final panel of the Prologue gives is Venti's speech:

He wonders if the world became a little bit stronger thanks to Vennessa's perserverance and actions that gave more freedom to Mondstadt but justice as well.
This gives an insight that the Mondstadt within the manga is peaceful instead of seeing the archons being target of the Fatui nor seeing the Abyss Order doing their revendous to attack the cities or so.
Therefore, it leads to a theory. It is well known that the twin that got captured by the Goddess was sent through a hellish vision or place, while the other trying to rescue said twin was drowned of powers and sent near Mondstadt.
When the game starts, whichever twin that is chosen, states that after they woke up, they were alone, but then they ended up finding Paimon 2 months ago. Meaning that there was a massive difference of time when one of the twins got captured by the goddess and the flow of time within said prison was faster while the events outside the cube were the last movements the twin could do before getting drained of power.
After all the events of the First part of the game end, after Venti gets his Gnosis stolen, there's a final dialogue between the MC and him; but said conversation isn't something focused on the life of Mondstadt but rather focused on the Gnosis, the Tsaritsa and the quest of the MC to meet the 7 archons within the world they are.
Therefore, the game itself gives an insight of what happens after the events of the manga on which certain events happened way before the game started on suggesting that Aether could be the Abyss Prince instead of Lumine.
Does that mean Aether is not canon?
No, the game itself gives the option to choose your canon hero; there's no right or wrong within the game. It's a tale that will come to an end in a distant future.
As for the manga, it is a matter of time to see what ends up happening later on since mihoyo is not only focusing in a sole game; they keep working on Guns Girl Z Houkai Gakuen for Asia but the game can be found in the PlayStore; Honkai Impact 3rd which lore has too much depth along the fact the manga keeps going along the VN; therefore, the only thing to do is wait and see how things end up unfolding in the end in manga lore.
Why is it so hard to write story?
Not a fanfic, but a STORY
A GAME STORY
I accepted to write the story of the game that my friend is developing
But its even harder than i anticipated
Its easy to write character backgrounds
But when it comes to the world the game is in
Im screwed
