Wishing I wasnt genderfluid,

Like wishing gravity would halt.

It's scientific fact

That it shall always pull us down.

I never will be a binary gender.

I will never completely feel like one gender

Over another.

Yet, I wish that people would see me

As the queer person I am.

My friends do.

Strangers, just see a woman.

Strangers know not that I am genderfluid

Even if I present in a masculine way:

Putting on straight-leg jeans, a button down,

My masculine engagement ring,

Wrapping my chest down with binders.

They still see a woman.

How?

I ask.

How can they not see me?

I put myself out there just like anyone else,

Still getting met with "ma'am"

Single

Time.
