Write Your Injuries in Dust [Hux x Reader]
Prompt fill: 33. The feel of fingertips trailing over a bare shoulder blade
A/N: Well, here’s my first “drabble” from that prompt list. I took this and ran with the idea that popped into my head, which is what I typically do with all prompts. This one just didn’t want to be under 1000 words. Enjoy!
Word count: 2300
Warnings: Angst, bruises
Hux may need some help after a stressful week. Whether he wants it or not.
“Write your injuries in dust, your benefits in marble.”
You meandered slowly through the halls after taking an early breakfast, biding your time until you absolutely needed to be at your post. The last few days–weeks, really–had been stressful. Work used to be your solace, a constant in an otherwise hectic life, but it was beginning to wear on you. It was beginning to wear on everyone in the First Order.
The sight of the general occupying a corridor at this hour put you on high alert. You know his schedule. You really shouldn’t, but you did, and this was odd for him. Especially odd was his stance: datapad in hand, slouched only slightly, resting the curved part of his back against the cold durasteel wall. His right hip was kicked out casually, and his left foot jutted out like a marring black scar in the bright hallway. Even if you hadn’t been perhaps a little overly interested with what he typically looked like, this would still be an odd position to find him in.
“General,” you said, nodding as you passed him.
“Good evening,” Hux replied, not looking up from his datapad.
You stopped immediately, perhaps a bit too sharply, so you slowed your movements as you turned to face Hux. You couldn’t find the right words.
“Something you need, lieutenant?” he said, not even looking up to regard you, only catching your still figure from his periphery.
He was acting strange. Stranger than usual. Your title sounded foreign on his tongue. True, it had been a while since you’d shared Hux’s company privately–he’d been fairly busy, everyone had–but you couldn’t remember the last time he hadn’t used your name when no one else was around.

You had been resting in your lover, Armitage Hux’s chambers. Being a force user and Kylo Rens apprentice, training lately had been hard and taken its toll on your body. You’d collapsed from exhaustion unable to move. A weeks rest had been prescribed to you by the doctors aboard the ship much to Kylos anger.
He had initially marched into the hospital and attempted to pull you out of bed, demanding that you must attend him on some mission but when he realised you couldn’t stand and he was half dragging you across the room, he’d flung you down. Telling you you were weak and nothing but a waste of his time.
Armitage had somehow found out and was furious. You hadn’t wanted him to know, knowing he’d risk his well being to tell Ren off for treating you in such a disrespectful way.
You remember how he’d ranted that he’d give Ren a piece of his mind but you’d beckoned him close and begged him not to put himself at risk, that you needed him now more than ever.
It was no longer about the first order, you cared little for the organisation you’d once been proud to be part of. Now you felt it was more of a prison, keeping you and Armitage from having a normal life.
Now as the week was nearly over you began to feel restless, you hadn’t seen your beloved in hours. Usually he checked in on you every few hours or sent a quick message from his holopad.
You couldn’t help shake this deep feeling of restlessness that was beginning to consume you so you got up and dressed yourself in your usual attire.
You grabbed your saber and hooked it to your belt, making your way to wherever your love might be.
As you walked you were certain the restless feelings were not yours, the closer you got to the command centre the stronger these feelings became. They were his, Armitage’s. Instead of taking the main route to come in through the front doors you took a short cut, mainly used by maintenance. It would bring you out of a small passageway to the side of the room. Perhaps you could slightly eavesdrop and what was going on.
Soon heard Armitage explaining what had happened. You saw now that his leg was bandaged and you felt worried at seeing him injured yet relieved he’d somehow come out of what happened alive.
You saw Pryde walk over to a stormtrooper.
You had enough experience in battle to know what was going to happen. You felt a rage burn inside of you. It bubbled up like a volcano. After everything your Armitage had done for the first order and now they were going to end him.
You propelled forward igniting your saber in the process.
The next thing Armitage saw was you appearing behind Pryde as he turned the blaster on him.
You brought your saber up and slashed Pryde deeply from the neck down to his hip.
He fell to the floor.
Without thinking you stood above him and drove your saber through his chest, ensuring he was dead.
Armitage staggered backwards in shock, the pain of his leg shooting up into his body. His countenance did not allow him to show that he was in pain though.
“Y/N! What are you... You saved me.”
“Armitage.” You looked at him, astounded at the way you had flown across the room and killed Pryde with such speed and ease. You didn’t know you were capable of such a feat.
The Troopers around you had backed off, clearly stunned by what had just happened.
You hurried towards your love, putting the saber away and taking his arm to help him, not that he required help but you knew that support from you meant more than anything.
“Armitage, my love.” You spoke softly hoping the troopers couldn’t hear.
“Take me back to your chambers.”
He nodded. Understanding you needed to talk in private.
“Dispose of him.” Hux gestured to Pryde as you and him left the room together.
Once back in Hux’s room you hurried to pack.
“I can’t believe he was going to kill me. Bastard!” Hux spat bitterly.
He suddenly noticed you packing a bag in the bedroom.
“What are you doing?” He walked over slowly and steadily to see you clearer.
“We need to leave my love. The other officers might turn on us when they find out what I’ve done.”
“Where will we go?” He asked, sounding skeptical.
“Anywhere!” You smiled reassuringly. You knew now you were strong enough to protect him. You two would leave and start a new life. It didn’t matter where, anywhere was better than here and as long as you two were together, nothing else mattered.
Armitage agreed to come, not that you’d of given him much of a choice and the two of you quickly left.
