And Gaz was utterly confused. He didn't understand why the two would insist on him tagging along. It made him feel like he's third wheeling or interrupting something. "Do I really have to come again?" He asked, sighing softly with so much defeat. It seemed like the lieutenant and sergeant weren't listening to him or didn't care about how he felt in the situation. Sometimes, he wondered why.

"Ya. We enjoy your company, lad." Soap answered, snuggling close to Ghost.

Ghost only nodded and hugged Soap closer. His eyes were on Soap before landing on him. They were warm and not with any hostility like when he's on the field.

"I don't really feel good coming along with you two." He expressed, scratching the back of his head while avoiding their stare.

Soap and Ghost looked at each other with worry. This was not going as planned. Sure, they knew that keeping Gaz in the dark wasn't the best way to do it, but they just couldn't resist. They wanted to surprise him.

Gaz didn't respond. His eyes went back to Soap, then to Ghost. They clashed glances before he looked away again. There was no way he was going to tell them. He couldn't.
