a cold morning

Just a little thing I wanted to write for Max and Oliver and trying to get started on making stories. So sorry if this is not the best.

Cw:not really anything to put here

It was cold fall morning and Oliver was not having it.He been up for hours  because of the cold and he was just done with it he throws off the blankets and walks to the balcony of the doll house that max had got him so he could have his own space and freedom and Oliver loved that but right now he didn't want it he wanted to be warm so he looked down at max who was fast asleep .Oliver took in a big breath and closed his eyes then let it out and fly down to max bedside table and without a second thought  Oliver ran to max bedside table  jumped and.. Fell on top of max face not only waking him up but making him jump up as well causing Oliver to go flying  up in the air.Oliver realizing he made a big mistake as he watched his life flash before him.Max now seeing Oliver failing in front of immediately hold out his hands to catch him and when he caught him and he was safe in his hands he pulled him to his chest and fell back down trying to calm himself down .Oliver trying to figure out what just happened could hear loud breathing coming from all around him and he was  being moved up and down fast.So he looked up to see the bottom of max chin then looking behind him to see max hand on top of him.A wave of guilt washed over him he didn't want to  make max freak out but he also didn't want to think about just walking up to max and waking him up that way in case he wanted to chicken out.Max finally got his breathing under control looked down at Oliver and could see the sadness in his face and smiled softly and started to rub his thumb to Oliver face then he lightly move Oliver face to look up at him.

¨sooooo..what was up with the whole jumping on my face thing waking me up¨? Max said in a soft tone.

Oliver refusing to look max in the eyes said ¨I.was.cold..¨

¨ Then why didn't you just yell for me¨? Max said tilting his head to the side ¨It would have been easier and safer¨.

Oliver tried to hide his red face in max chest not wanting to say why.

Max could see how embarrassed Oliver was and he wanted to have a little fun with him as pay back so he pinched the back of Oliver shirt and lifted him up to his face.Max could see how red Oliver was and he felt butterflies in his stomach. He pulled Oliver closer and closer to his face then he gave him a little kiss on the face as he rolled over back on to his side putting Oliver on the pillow beside him and laid his hand over Oliver rubbing his back looking in to his eyes with the softest gazed Oliver had ever seen.

¨ Good night Oli.¨ Max said as he started to fall back asleep.

G.good night¨. Oliver managed to say face all red from the kiss.Excitement  and happiness filled him up as he hugged Max finger and he closed his eyes falling asleep with max.

Some more writing and this is with the new ocs. Haskell is a non-binary human and  Lazarus he's a big vampire that doesn't like to drink blood .This isn't how they meet. I'm still thinking about how that is going to go down so here is just a little something with them.

cw:not sure what to put here.

It was a dark night. The only things that were awake were all the creatures of the night and one human .Haskell was running and they were running fast through the woods ducking tree branches and jumping over rocks and suddenly a big BOOM! Came from behind them making them run faster and faster¨oh god oh god oh god why did i think this was a good id–¨Haskell was cut off as something slammed behind them making them fall and roll forwards into a tree.Haskell head was spinning as they lay there on the ground.A big shadow fell over Haskell little body as they looked up to see red eyes looking down at them they could see what looked to be a big bat face and Haskell sit up looking it in the eyes¨really Laz.we agreed no bat you cheated!¨Haskell pointed a finger at the bat face.Suddenly a big cloud formed around the big bat then from the smoke appeared a giant man with skin so white it looked like snow long white hair and red glowing eyes.To big hands landed on both sides of Haskell as a face ten times their own come closer Haskell tried to back away but it was no use they were pinned to the tree behind them as the giant face came closer so closer that if Haskell wanted to they could put their hand on the tip of his nose but they didn't they just looked it to a red eye that were filled with love and mischievous¨your just mad that i found you~¨ Lazarus said with a playful ton ¨Laz i swear i'll kick you in the face if you-!?¨ Haskell was cut off again as a hand bigger than them picked them up and the giant set up with Haskell in his hand¨my sweet    little dragon fruit. How cute of you to try and threaten me ~¨Haskell looked up at the vampire with an annoyed look ¨leave me and my hot pink hair alone batman¨Haskell cast their arms and faced the other away.¨oh little fruit you should know~¨ Lazarus leaned in lip to Haskell back making them jump¨you should never turn your back on a vampire~¨ before Haskell could even move their eyes to look Laz in the face they were pushed into his hand gently and firmly Haskell tried to squirm free but it was no use.Lazarus stood up and moved his hand away smirking down at Haskell who was trying to catch their breath but Lazarus was not done yet.he started to kiss Haskell again as he walked back home.

Ok so my brain want's to draw and write some anime superhero stuff for max and oliver. Like max is this big bad villain that everyone is afraid of so no one wants to fight him and oliver is told he has too so a can be as good as his hero that said he has done it before but he never did in reality. So oliver goes up to a big camera crew who are live on TV and he challenges Max to a fight also I think oliver would not know anything about max mabye because he just moved to the city or something like that so everyone is confuse as hell and is hero is in the background like "oh I f up big time..." and oliver tells max to meet him in the middle of the city and he flies there to get ready but oh boy he is not ready to face max on.

Max on the other hand was just minding his own business and then he sees on TV this new hero wanting to fight him he knows a lot of people are afraid of him even the heroes so why is this little guy wanting to fight him he goes anyway to see what happens. Oliver is waiting for max to show up and the heroes are trying to stop him but he is to too determined to prove himself but all the bravery and determination leave him in a instant as he see this man bigger than a skyscraper walk up to one of the buildings and liens on it looking down at him. Oliver froze dead in his tracks looking up at max "no one said he was that big why did no one tell me!?"oliver put his hands on his head and he looks up for a second and see max rolling his eyes and oh boy that made him mad he was unestimated way too many times so without thinking he shook his head and got his bearings and flu up to Max's face and punched him in the nose. Max's eyes wide as he looks back at oliver who is looking at him with a serious and angry look on his face and max grins wide and let's out a bellowing laugh that shakes everything even oliver who is still flying max looks back at oliver and grapes him between his pointer and thumb and pulls oliver away from him because he knows how loud he can be and talks

" wow I gotta say your a lot braver then the other heroes little guy" oliver was immediately confused "wait haven't you Fighted the other heroes..?" Max let out another laugh "HAHA nope none of them have ever even tried to face me head on"

oliver looked down not sure what to think about really he was just about to face this man head on with no plan or any idea or who he was he just wanted to prove he could be brave like his hero and he started to cry.

Max was expecting him to try to get free and fight him but he was immediately caught off guard when he heard crying coming from the man

"What on- why are you crying!?."

"I..I was trying to b..be like my hero and face you...b..but I'm not like them.."

"You sure as hell are not" max said as he gently moved his head to look at him

Oliver eyes widened as he looked into his eyes one was Brown and the other blue.

" look man no heroes even want to look at me in the face but you. You hit me in the face man!! And that saying a lot other villains don't even want to fight me!"

Oliver looked down. he was right he hit him in the face omg he really did it. But oliver happiness was cut short as the giant spoke

"So how abute we have that fight now~"

(I'll do more later but I'm sleepy rn so ya)

It part 2 time enjoy!

Cw: blood, fighting and some cursing and threats

"So how about it little guy still want to go at it?"

Max said with a teasing tone he already knew his answer the guy was scared and max didn't blame him from what it seemed like the hero's didn't tell him who he was or maybe they were trying to Act all big and tough but max new all to well that none of them were.

Max looked down at the little hero in his hold if he was going to be honest he didn't even want to fight he hated it. He became a villain because that's all people told him he could be because of his power his smile faded and he rub the back of his neck and laid out his free hand under oliver and let him fall into it.

--------

Oliver didn't know what to do this man 100x bigger then him still wants to fight oh god what was he to do he didn't know this man or what he was capable of doing. He scares every hero and villain that come in a radius of him and he still wants to fight him!?.

Oliver horrible thoughts were cut of momentarily as he was let go into the giant free hand and let him fall into his Palm. Oliver looked up to he the man had a concerned look on his face.

"Look man we don't-!?"

Max was cut off as he seen a building flying at him. And on instinct he held oliver close to his chest and moved out of the away. But just as he did so another building hit him in the face causing him to hit into the buildings behind him causing them to fall on top of him.

Everyone Focus their attention on where the buildings were thrown from to see oliver hero there with a smug look as he flu out into the open.

"Haha see that everyone I beat the monster I'm still the best!"he cheered as he raised his hands up

"WHAT ABOUT THE HERO HE HAD IN HIS HAND YOU JUST KILLED HIM TO!!" Yelled a reporter

"Oh so what we have plenty of heros beside he was dumb for even trying it"he said brushing it off. Everyone yelled and booed the hero and some were throwing things at him.

"WHAT THE HELL I SAVED ALL OF YOU. YOU SHOULD BE THANKING ME!!"he looked around see ing all the mad people and then he looked at the other hero who just as mad.

"IT DIDN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE HE WAS GOING TO FIGHT HIM!" Yelled a reporter

"YA BESIDE HE GAVE THE GUY THE CHANCE NOT TO FIGHT HIM!" Reply to another reporter.

Suddenly the ground started to violently Shake were the buildings fell on top of max and everyone even the heroes looked over to see what was happening. And to the shock they seen max move one of the buildings off himself and sit up. He still had his hand to his chest but he was bleeding a lot and he was looking down.

The heroes looked at max in both shock and fear he just throw to buildings at him and made a lot more Fallen top of him and he was still alive!?.

"WHAT-THE- YOU SHOULD BE DEAD WHY ARE YOU NOT DEAD!?" As he yelled that he immediately froze in his tracks.

Max shifted to look at him. He had so much blood coming down his face not only that but he had a very pissed Expression to. He looked like he want to rip him apart but all max did was look back down and moved his hands so he could see oliver and make sure he was okay. He was he was just passed out max let out a sigh of relief.

Max then got up with a grunt a he could feel a sharp pain in his back he'll deal with that later he just needed to help oliver so he started to walk to the other heros and as he walked past Oliver's hero he gave him a stare that shivered the hero to the Bone. He then opened his hands to the other heros to take oliver and they did just that one of flu to oliver and picked him up and flu him to the hospital. Max kept looking at the hero take oliver away and then with out a warning he turned and grabbed the hero( ok so I'm just going to call him idk maybe titanium not sure) in a Vice like grip and looked down at him.

Titanium looked at max in sheer fear and Terror as the giant face came closer and closer to him. He waited to see if max would bite his head off but he didn't he just looked at him and a angry blank expression which just confused titanium. Max grips suddenly tightened as the giant spoke in a deep terrifying voice.

"Try that s***! Again and I swear I'll throw you into the sun or into a black f ing whole! You little b####!"he mumbled the threat at the hero.

Who was trying to get free and some how he even was more terrified he started to cry. Max moved his head back and looked back at titanium and rolled his eyes.

"Gods your pathetic how did you even become a hero I mean really you were scared to fight me and yet that guy flu up to me and hit me on the nose and that may not be a lot compared to the fights you've been in but I got to say that guy had guts if he was able to tussle with someone you didn't even want to look in the eyes"

Everyone was quiet and then begin to cheer as titanium face became red from both embarrassment and anger as he looked around at everyone. Max then forced him to look at him again.

"Next time you want to fight me dont get some one else in involved you got that"max was giving him a Death Stare and titanium quickly nodded.

As max rolled his eyes and let him go and titanium quickly flu off. Max put his hands on his hips and watch him fly away he wanted to throw a building or something right back at him but he didn't want to risk hurting others around him. So he just faced the other away and walked past the buildings. Gods he was so done with the day he just want to go home and sleep mabye even have a little campfire in his woods.

-----------

Oliver was looking out his Hospital window. He had just woken up a minutes ago and was asking a lot of questions. And the heroes answered them all truthfully and then they left him alone to get some more rest but he didn't want to rest he wanted to find max and know why he saved him. So he thought of a plan to escape and find him. He had asked where he went and they said he walks to the outer part of the city. Oliver didn't know lot about that area beside the fact that outside of the city was just woods. But he needed to know so when it got dark oliver open his window and flu out to the outer cities Woods.

It took him about an hour to get to the outer cities and there it was the woods were max went or lived he wasn't sure but he didn't care. He took in a deep breath and then let it out and flu into the woods.

Max decided he was going to take his two baby cows to the woods and Take his dogs one was a Saint Bernard , a English Mastiff , Tibetan Mastiff and then his Rottweiler puppy and lay by a fire. His puppy was playing with the baby cows when he could hear something come so he sits up to see what it was and then gets immediately smacked in the face by Oliver's body hitting him. Max immediately freezes he didn't want to hurt him. Oliver began to rub his head not realizing what he ran into until he heard barking and opened his eyes to see Max's blue and brown eyes trying to look at him. Oliver immediately went red and he flu back to give the poor guy space and then frantically started to apologize.

"IM SORRY IM SORRY IM SORRY IM-!?"Oliver's apologies were cut off as max held up a hand to tell him to stop.

"It ok. You didn't see me and I didn't see you so it's fine."max said as he laid back down.

"So why are you out here anyway?"

"I actually came out here to see you or more or less talk to you about today" Oliver was fidgeting with his hands as he looked down at the giant

"What about today?"max said with a raised eyebrow

"You know about the whole saving me thing" Oliver began to slowly move his gaze away from Max. Max seeing Oliver doing this sat back up to look at him batter.

"Ya so what if I did. I wanted to fight you to so" max moved closer to Oliver who on Instinct slowly backed away from him but then held his ground and looked at Max in the eyes will as good as he could.

"You asked if I wanted to fight you" Oliver said as he moved closer to max. Max looked at him with a blank expression.

"So I'm taking it as you want to fight me huh.?. Max said as he patted one of his big dogs on the head with his finger.

"Just let me put these little guys away-"

"NO! I dont want to fight you I just want to talk!" Oliver yelled which caught Max by surprise as he looked at him with wide eyes.

"Look. You just. I dont. I just didn't expect that from you everyone fears you and yet you..."Oliver looked down with a sad look.

"I just can't see why I mean you cheered me up when I thought I was weak you told me that I was stronger and braver than my hero... then you protected me from him even hell you even asked if I wanted to fight you!"Oliver grabbed his hair and slowly started to float down. Max moved his hands under oliver to hold him. Oliver immediately grabbed one of Max's thumbs and hugged it crying.

Max looked at oliver with a sorrowful look and lightly rubbed his other thumb to Oliver's cheek.

"I didn't want to be a villain.." max said oliver eyes widened at that he looked up to see max try to hold back tears.

"But that's all they told me I could be.." max said as he wipe tears away with his shoulder. His dogs jumped into his lap and so did the cows and max looked down at them and smiled.

"I new I couldn't change how others seen me so I just became what they wanted me to be." Max moved his free hand to lightly pet his puppy on the head. Oliver felt his heart ache for Max how could people do this to him ya oliver didn't know max all that well but for the little bit he did know he new how much nicer max was then a lot of people oliver knew. So he tried to stand on max hand but finding it was a lot harder than he thought so he grabbed his thumb and tried to stand up that way looking at max. Max moved his gaze to look at Oliver his smile disappearing

"Well I think you'd make a great hero" Oliver smiled up a max

Max's eyes widened as a little bit of red appeared on his cheeks. He looked away from the little hero not sure if he could look him in the eyes. Oliver flu up to Max's face making the giant freeze in his tracks. As oliver put his forehead on to Max's he could feel how warm the giant was. Max went cross-eyed trying to look at Oliver. Oliver looked into max brown eye and smiled.

"I mean really your like a big teddy baer!" Oliver said with a happy and loving tone. Which immediately made the Giants face go even redder. Making max lay back down putting his hands over his eyes.

"Gods I think your worst then the other heroes" max said with a grown

Oliver let out a little giggle as he laid on top of Max's face.

"Maybe I am maybe I'm not your just going to have to find out for yourself big guy"oliver said with a teasing tone. Max smiled at that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have him around.

"Ya sure we'll see what happens "

FINALLY FINSIHED SO SORRY FOR THE DELAY. HERE IS PART ONE I HOPE YIU ENJOY!

WARNING/TW: death, dead bodies, gore, arachnophobia, blood, possible triggers for sharp objects.

Of Sinners and Saints

Silence lay steady upon the wilted hours of the night, her dark descent lay firm within twisted roots of the colossal trees resident in the Moorborough boundaries. The fog was thick and soupy, and Danari pondered if her dagger was sharp enough to slice into its foreboding skin. With not a star to guide her nor a path to follow, a deep yet empty feeling resided within her fragile form. She was lost. Lost with nothing but a blunt dagger and satchel of powders and plants. Lost within the swallowing woods that ate victims and forgotten names.

Danari hadn't acquired an ill-trodden mind. She knew very well never to cross the line and yet even so her mishappening was no accident.

Danari was a member of the botanist coven- and quite a skilled botanist at that! And whilst her talent brought her success it did not avail her the joys she truly longed for.

It did, however, provide her with enough to maintain a firm grip on her drowning sanity. That being her ability to revive any positives to her colossal negatives. For Danaris heart beated for one true desire alone, the possibility, the mere chance- of joining the enchanters coven.

Oh how she had dreamed of being assigned to work alongside witches and wizards of all shapes and sizes, pixies, humans, centaurs, merfolk even harpies!

The possibilities were endless for the life of any enchanter but for a botanist? Nothing of the matter.

Danari did not lack the talent nor the determination or heart to bare the title of am enchantress not in the slightest. No. Her issue was a scar. A deep brooding and desecrate misfortune. Danari was a gifted young scholar, precosiously thriving with smarts and successes, she possibly had it all. But all that glitters isn't gold. Not for her case.

For Danari was a Pixie. A pixie incapable to summon magic.

And without the capability of magic -an extremely shameful attribute for a pixie- one could not enter the enchantress coven. By the gods she couldn't even fly! Her perfectly intact set of six wings deemed useless, a useless beauty that served as another loud reminder that no matter how hard she tried, her trialing efforts were in vain.

But she was persistent.

Danari was set on the broomsthorn capuli, which is what brought her to the seeping fickle forests of the Moorborough boundaries this haunting evening. A rare flower and a sight to behold, scribes foretold they could ensure curses of a wide variety. Curses -good or bad- came with a price to pay, nobody would know of the price until it was too late for fix. Curses were not exactly Danaris frame of work but she calculated that together with the assistance of her dear friend Talene- a scholar like herself, whom had been accepted into the enchanters coven- they could conjure the perfect curse or in her case, a cure, with the capulis empowering petals. A curse for power. For the pixie who couldn't use magic.

Yes, a selfish desire to seek the broomsthorn, when others sought it for more valuable needs, a tricky and complicated process for her to bargain her life with.

She despised putting her own actions ahead of others but..she couldn't bare the burden of not being able to enchant.

Couldn't fathom the dwindling cloud that dawned above her head maiming her the disgrace of the family. So, when opportunity -big or small- struck, Danari wouldnt be blind to turn the claimed cold shoulder. Desecrating the broomsthorn capulis power for her own greed or not, she had a dream and she had determination. And with a pixie such as herself those two were a potent and dangerous duo, a pair that wouldn't cease their dark duet until it they bid victorious.

However the look in Talenes eyes when Danari spoke of her plans still embedded in her mind, as did Talenes words. Talene, for all her excitement to try new tricks did not seem to be on board with Danaris plan. What would the coven think?

No..no they couldn't know and she couldn't get distracted.

Not here of all places

Broomsthorn Capuli came with a heavy price. Just like any curse. Eager souls whom seeked its incandescent, rich, navy petals were at the mercy of whatever her graceful presence and sharp aura saw fit, as a fine trade for its bountiful beauty. Or in a simple definition, a punishment. Danari hadn't yet caught a grasp of the flower and already she could feel the tiring weight of what was to come. Her curse. Lost within the Moorborough Boundaries.

A devastating place for a pixie to disappear in.

Moorborough boundaries, home to the shadiest of creatures that creaked and crawled in the night, any howling menace that echoed off its corrupted branches, any clawed or fanged ghoresome gargoyle or ghoul that went bump in the uncanny silence of the night.

But the absolute worst ferocity the shade dwelled was the Arachnae.

Standing at a lurking seven to eight feet they bore prominently human like qualities, infact one could possibly pass for a overbearing human. But she was used to the profuse height of humans, living her whole life at the trifling height of any common mushroom or neatly trimmed blade of grass. Height was not an issue. The issue in question was how heavily they resembled the attitudes of spiders. As beautiful as a shard of glass. Prepossessing and elegant - sharp and heartless. Viciously vigorous all the same.

They bore an extra pair of arms which they could grow out whenever they so pleased, procuring six in total.

Two unbeffiting smaller eyes lurked just beneath their main pair, a chilling echo of the top pupils, keen and honed like a cat preparing to pounce on its feeble prey.

And the teeth, sharp embesseling and  carnivorous that would sink into just about anything with slick piercing fangs stealing the vital position of its ruthless canines bleeding a pulverising venom to any unwilling victim.

Of all its atrocious commodities one reigned supreme to her darkest nightmares.

They had a strong bloodlust for pixies.

Their absolute favourite 'snack'.

And here she stood within the forests most would reconcile as home.

All for her own greed. If anything happened now, whatever it may be, nothing, no distraction nor excuse could disdain the vexatious truth inking her clouded thoughts. It would be her own doing. All to purge the urge of her foreboding shame. The cracks would snipe through the glass and its shards would cry the barrier to her clock like life orderly and contained would snap from its spine like hands ceasing its ticking. All eyes that watched above and below would roll snubbing her as if this was expected. And she would have nobody to blame but herself. And when her name was uttered if it ever was her wandering spirit would curl, only remembered as the selfish theif who stole such a potent beauty for her own desire.

The fog was curling, thickening around her miniscule form. She looked back at her futile wings,  even just an ounce of magic and she could zip above this wretched mess and find her objective. But that was impossible and impossibility was impractical in times like this. One foot in front of the other she continued, ignoring the feeling that she was really taking more steps back.

It was quiet. Too quiet. The trees canopied leagues above groaning and creaking, in the whimpering wind always seeming so near.

She squinted as hard as she could to locate the moon but the rustling branches only sheltered her view.

Just keep walking..with this affirmation repeating in her head she was bound to find it sooner.

Something brushed against her leg, she winced. Dare she look down to find a  trap?, the tail of a slithering foe hanging over her from behind? A curving root reading to drag her six feet under to her imminent doom? With a turn a scowl greeted her lips at the sight of a freshly sprouted Glandor mushroom, a species of such vaguely more miniscule than her. She huffed at it spread its unwelcomed bioluminesent glow, smearing across her carefully stitched attire. Wait.

Bioluminesence?

Her eyed lit up as she frantically turned back to the plump fungi. Glandor mushrooms never usually grew solo and if she was correct.. just apply a little pressure and...

She watched as her hands were covered in a gunky texture on the cold clamy mushroom head, applying weight to its body.

Seeping blue light filtered from its head like a wave at sea, billowing through its roots, unfurling from neighbour to neighbour until set before her was a glowing azure path that echoed through the foggy atmosphere one by one lighting her way through this cloudy despair.

Danari couldn't believe her rather unusual stroke of luck. She supposed there were many benefits to being a botanist when one is partially trapped in the tick furling trunks of Moorborough. However she was keenly aware that a Glandors glow could only last so long and made pace over vines and roots alike.

Snap.

Danari whisked around. The noise almost abnormal to the complete silence that sheltered the land- bar her own footsteps of course.

Danari took a couple steps forward while keeping her head turned to a certain degree to identify any suspicious action when she took a tumblr to an unruly vine cascading to the bog like grounds.

But the bogs she landed in were cold..and almost thin..

Eeking at the sensation and regaining her footing she smeared her hand across the illuminated gunk possessing her guide in the night and knelt to the alien texture holding her hands as a fabricated light.

She couldn't be entirely sure if she gasped or if she didn't not breath at all.

A deep thick maroon liquid dimly dripped off her clothing, staining her skin and the fabric and cycling back to the boggy area, that puddled the fluid.

She should've known better that her stoke of luck would be misinterpreted.

Blood.

Harpy blood if she was correct.

Thankfully not quite fresh if its cold touch could suffice...but in return not quite cold either.

It was the dying light of the glandor that allowed her focus on a lump just ahead burrowed into the trees bark which had already come alive to feast on its remains, roots carefully roping around it.

The corpse.

Eyes wide and light fading she cautiously made her way over, sinking to her knees.

A man her height, in or around his late thirties. Harpy to be sure..if his two bones protruding from his back were any indication. His wings had been thorn off. The smell was wretched. A rancid foul, putrid smell of decay that made her nausea quiver.

She caught sight of his clothing. A cloak breezed softly in the shallow wind. A pattern of sorts carefully stitched, five swirls embodying around a center star.

A wizard of the enchanters coven.

She went to brush back the vining branches and shrieked. A large maggot, the size of her arm, shriveled out from his chest cavity and dug itself into the bog. Danari scrambled back, bile rose to her throat and begged to gag and spew all over her bloody attire.

But that's when she took a second closer glance at the chest cavity before her.

Because it had a twin, right on or rather in his thigh.

Fang bites.

No.

No!

She scurried backward, colliding with an irregular tree.

Her panted breaths were disaranged amongst the eerie silence. Just her deranged breathing, her utter fear and the drip-drops of blood leaking to the ground.

She placed a hand to her dagger nestled in her pouch as the last of her mushrooms faded its last glimmer of light, disbanding her and the corpse back to the eager fog.  She panted trying to steady her breathing, her attempts seeming almost futile.

With a brooding sense of dread in her stomach she fell victim to the expansive tree that sheltered her, slumping down with alarm, goosebumps grazing her arms like a soft kiss.

She felt the tree move and pull away.

Her panting stopped. Moorborough trees could move, but not that fast..never that fast. And never that quiet.

A presence shifted over her, enveloping her in an even deeper shadow than that of the fog.

And from within the darkness, a velvety, deep and sly reverberating voice spoke. And it spoke to her.

"Hello there, my little pixie~"

I know all I have done since I posted stories here is write a chapter/2 chapters and not continue, I will continue them I promise but I really wanted to write this as I am a slave to the found family trope. Enjoy grumpy old man (unwillingly) becomes guardian to a chaotic little girl. Inspired by Tlou Ellie and Joel as well as GoT the hound and arya.

Thorn in my side

(Prologue)

The actual story will be MUCH longer but this is just a lil intro

Triggers: cursing I guess? But that will be the case with most chapters because addie knows some colourful words and likes to throw them around

>:)

If anything could be said without any argument it would be that the man wasn't what one would call welcoming. While he hadn't got much nice virtues in his favour, he had got a colourful array of other descriptive words to choose from. Brutish, nasty, bitter, ill-tempered (-short tempered too) and those were just starter options to a more deliciously verbal main course.

From what could be gathered while sneaking around the alleys, some villagers deemed he wasn't all bad, even vowed that 'so long as you leave him alone, don't talk to him, look at him and depending the day, you don't breathe insufficiently around him, you'll be fine'. That advice seemed to have spread like a wildfire, and slowly but surely, it appeared as if an unavowed agreement was set to leave him be to his indulgences, far out in his small cottage home at the edge of the kingdom.

Despite it all, he didn't pay their mindless gossip any attention- if anything it seemed he reveled in it, loving that it ensured the most loud and obnoxious 'citizens' would stay far far away from his vicinity. And should they get too close, the simple solution was one hard glare over the shoulder from his peripheral to send them running back home- some in tears. Some might say he was a bit of an 'old prune' or 'sad sour vessel of a man'. A man filled with nothing but grotesque hatred for anything and anyone around him, be it the townspeople, village or the whole damn kingdom.

And unfortunately, the old man didn't do the rotten rumours any favours. He never cared for the unbidden pesky pokes and prods at his life, and had he cared, he may have even humoured their outlandish claims.

Though all that being said he wasn't devoid of finding solitude. It was quite clear he did like quiet things. Being devoid from sounds of sappy children and stumbling drunkards eased such simplicite interests. The only sounds he seemed to find solace in was the buzz and hums of wildlife while tending his crops, the pitter-patter of rain hopping about like grasshoppers against the stone wall and the crackle from the hearth as its warmth billowed about his only comfort, his home.

He didn't confide and he didn't care, he was just a isolated gruff man who seemed alot deeper than the wretched rumours had precieved. From any other perspective however, it could fairly be assumed that his heart had been thorn out many moons ago, or perhaps buried, deep deep down, into depths of tarnished emotions.

It was too bad Addie couldn't aid him in his predicament.

From afar she could pity the man, and she'd only been there a fortnight thus far, from what she gathered he just needed..something, maybe a hound, hounds couldn't talk as far as she knew. Though perhaps a lazy one, that wouldn't bark at the slightest jitter.

It was clear from her restless week long trail through the kingdom that his behaviour towards townsfolk and himself personally were two different matters entirely- from what she picked up from gossip of course. He had been in the markets that day, and from the coverage scrouing the grimy streets from the plants, drains, carriages and the sort, all she could gather was the pitiful whispers about town, that 'the old troll had left his cave'.

It was abundantly obviously to even the thickest of minds this man's home was void of any life besides his own. That had been good enough for her. Despite hiding for dear life from all those around her, it had been a rare occasion were she had been happy to be around someone of such..stature. A ticket to an easy few weeks, unbothered by children, maids or fiendish cats. But still, from her time 'spent with him' (if you could even call it that) she had become divided in her own mind. Part of her found sorrow in seeing him all alone, even a little anger towards all the dreadful hushed chatter she overheard before she had happened upon his satchel, slipping inside unbeknownst to the gruff old man, in his pursuit of purchasing..whatever it was he was buying. Another part of her played offence, accusatory in the nature that he had formed the reputation himself, had he shown even the inching of a smile maybe, just maybe, his situation wouldn't be so dire. But he dug his grave and now he had to lie with his misery and consequence. And that made sympathy a rather hard feeling to render him by.

Either side of her inner turmoil could agree on one thing when it come down to it. Lest he change his ways there was no saving him.

Once she was stocked up she'd be moving on, she was quite conflicted on wether she'd feel relief or regret on leaving such a sad husk of a man, but there was nothing to be done. Nothing she could- would do. Especially given that even with her conflicted pity, he was still one of them- hatred toward others like him or not.

If it came to priorities she was putting herself first. It was a dangerous world for those one twelfth of the average height. Even more so when said people were believed to be a dying species. And were a rarity for two gruelling reasons- both stemming from blood. Its taste, and its qualities. Humans in these times were sought out now for a palatable delicacy or for cures, tinctures that could cure even the deadliest of diseases- or so the presumptuous prodigious pricks had persuaded one another into believing. Either way, the thought made her sick. All that loss, to satisfy the mind, or the stomach. But this was life now, and she was determined to live it. Endure and survive it.

Alas, she hadn't planned to stay long. A few weeks at most, with a week spent grafting the streets and fourteen nights in his abode it summed to three tiresome weeks thus far. It was stock up and carry on. Take what you can, leave what you must. There was codes to follow, they had been set out by her family, and in the time she got to have with them, each member followed them wholeheartedly. Her dad had been to teach her. God she missed him. His absence had hit the hardest. Despite the years that had past, his loss was still so vivid. In the waking world and dream realm alike. Her mother was a sweet traditional lady, well kept, strict but tender, loving to all those around her. But her father, he had shown her everything, taught her everything. He crafted the person she had become and he was partly her biggest motivation to keep going.

In theory, being reunited with her family wouldn't take long. All she'd really have to do was let a single giant see her. In whatever morbid twisted fate she’d be granted, it would eventually lead home. Home to the warmth of her mother's embrace, the lingering whispers of love and meaning in her fathers voice. Home as both held her tight and never let go. Despite its gruesome reality, it was a nice dream- but her families memory was worth more than ending up as a garnish on a plate, a plate already full of greed and an unquenchable thirst for more and more. For them, she'd keep going. For them she would reach the haven. Be amongst her people once more, bring normality back into the world, despite being born into the current way of life for humanity. To her in a way everyday had become the status quo. But the faith of getting to experience what life had been. Now that would be something.

So she would deal with this grouch for another few weeks or so, then continue her journey. Her long long journey, to salvation.

At least. That's what she hoped would happen. That was the plan after all.

Getting caught was not.
