inspired by another one of my fave headcanons that has already been established a few times, involving Milan 😌

Jens has been following Lucas on Instagram for a few weeks

He’d come in his recommendations and as soon as Jens saw him he was clicking follow before he even knew what he was doing

But now that it was done he thought he might as well leave it—the guy probably wouldn’t think anything of it

Then Lucas follows him back and likes a string of his posts

And okay, Jens figures that isn’t the normal thing to do. That it’s obviously very purposeful. That it’s definitely this guy showing some form of interest. He considers doing it back, but he’s already been following Lucas for a few days now, so that might be a little too weird

But then Lucas makes a new post, and after a moment of hesitation, Jens leaves a comment instead. Casual but could also be flirty. Whatever way Lucas decides to take it

It becomes a thing. Liking and commenting on each other’s posts, too many jokes and ‘🔥’ emojis, but that’s as far as it goes

They don’t message each other, no matter how badly Jens wants to

He’s nervous about it. He’s never messaged a guy before like that. He’s hooked up with a few in person, and he’s not really hiding his sexuality as such but it’s also not public knowledge

Robbe and Sander know, as well as the other Broerrrs and Jana

But still, Jens is a bit hesitant, doesn’t really know what he’s doing, no matter how much he acts like it. For some reason, he can’t bring himself to go to Robbe or Sander and ask for their advice on this. He doesn’t want to appear that shy and cautious and dumb and he also doesn’t really want to tell them about Lucas yet. It feels private

Then he’s hanging out in the flatshare one day and he ends up alone with Milan for a while, deciding to hang around when Robbe goes out to meet Sander and bring him back too

And after a moment of hesitation he decides to go for it

“Hey Milan? Can I ask you about something?”

Once Milan assures him that yes, always he can, and sits down on the sofa next to him, giving him his full attention, Jens explains. “I think I’m...into this guy online but I don’t really know how I should message him”

Milan’s face brightens instantly, and his jaw drops and he lowers his voice before saying, “Okay, I know Grindr can be scary, but—“

And Jens understands his mistake and cuts him off. “No no no Milan, I follow him on Instagram”

And Milan just goes 😯 and giggles and apologizes and asks Jens to tell him more. And Jens tells him how they started following each other and interact on posts but Lucas still hasn’t messaged him and he feels a little awkward reaching out first. He doesn’t want to say too little or too much or anything stupid. He doesn’t want to either bore Lucas or scare him away. He wants him to reply

And Milan listens attentively and doesn’t bat an eyelid, even though Jens had never told him he was bi before this, only gently reassures him that this is a good start and then excitedly asks if Jens can show him a pic

So Jens pulls up Lucas’s page and shows his recent post to Milan and has no idea why Milan goes still and his jaw drops again

The only thing Jens can think to do is hesitantly ask, “he’s cute, right? And he doesn’t seem to be already dating anyone...”

And then Milan is smiling brilliantly at him and saying “No, he’s not” and before Jens can ask why he’s so sure and excited all of a sudden, he’s adding, “and of course you’re the pretty Belgian boy he’s been crushing on” and then when Jens only grows more confused, “Lucas is my cousin, Jens”

And this was the last thing Jens expected, which is stupid, because he’s heard Milan talk about his cousin before, the one he always goes back to the Netherlands to visit, and then he’s a little embarrassed to just admitting to having a crush on one of Milan’s family members to Milan

But then Milan’s words from before register and he wonders if Lucas really thinks he’s the ‘pretty Belgian boy’ Lucas has apparently told his cousin about

And Milan evidently isn’t bothered, whispering ‘oh my god’ with his hands pressed to his cheeks and a massive smile and then he’s patting Jens’s shoulder and excitedly making a plan

The first message Jens sends Lucas is a selfie of him and Milan, looking at each other in mock surprise, with the caption “so apparently I know your cousin??”

He didn’t have to worry about boring Lucas or scaring him off, because he’d been feeling the exact same way and just waiting for Jens to message first, and of course Milan was instantly texting him with a warning to “reply to this boy!! I promise he’s a catch”
