how people introduce themselves is often indicative of what they find most important about themselves. so it's not surprising that oikawa tooru always introduced himself as a setter.

that is, until he started dating you.

suddenly when he was introducing himself, it was no longer a long winded speech about how he was the best setter in the world.

instead he simply introduced himself as your boyfriend, a huge smile on his face as he chattered about how amazing you were.

because being your boyfriend was the most important part of his identity until it wasn't. until you were gone.

now when people ask him about himself, he gives them his name, and his name only. not because there's nothing to say about himself, but because he no longer has anything important enough to say.
