Shortest and Final Part of my little show-n-tell, a little time skip to after finding the Grey Wardens and Carver gone with them. Blatantly Handers. Mutual, dumbass pining ftw

Oh Fuck, The Deep Roads Part 3

Part 1 / Part 2

Hawke stared at him. She hadn’t slept in at least 24 hours. She was filthy. She was wearing Varric’s jacket to cover the giant holes in her shirt. She had almost died. So maybe she was dreaming it.

“He lived, Hawke. He’s… well, sleeping is the nice word for it, but he survived. He’s a Grey Warden now, Maker help the poor sod,” Anders reiterated, rubbing his forehead with his hand.

“He’s alive. He’s alive!” Hawke leapt onto Anders, arms thrown around his neck, balancing on her toes so she could put every bit of strength in her hug. “He’s alive because of you, thank you!”

“I just carted him to a bunch of Wardens. I didn’t--” Anders tried to point out, arms automatically around her waist as he smiled tiredly at her enthusiasm.

“No, shut up, he’s alive because of you. Thank you,” Hawke said, pulling back far enough to meet his eyes. She grinned, then kissed his cheek, firmly but briefly. “Thank you.”

“You forgot the part where he saved you, Birdie,” Varric said, smirking at Anders’ flummoxed expression.

“Oh, right!” She leaned up to kiss Anders’ other cheek. “Tell Justice one of those is for him, too.”

“Uh. Okay?” Anders stammered.

“Great. Everyone lived,” Fenris yanked Hawke away from Anders, making her yelp in surprise, and hauled her towards the bedroll she’d never gotten around to lying on. “You need sleep. We still have a long way to go and I don’t want you getting yourself killed again.”

“Is it killed again if I didn’t technically die the--I’ll shut up now,” Hawke said quickly, hands up in surrender, when all three men glared at her. She all but flopped onto the bedroll, groaning slightly when the solid rock beneath her admittedly too thin bedroll made her still tender torso ache.

Carver was alive. She pressed her face into the threadbare lump of a pillow, grinning in relief. He’s alive. He’ll be a Warden, a hero. Maybe he’ll finally find his own feet, and when they meet again one day, they’ll find a way to be better. Better siblings. Better friends.

The other three were talking quietly near the fire behind her as she settled more comfortably. She didn’t bother trying to figure out what they were saying, probably looking at the maps and planning out a course. For once, she didn’t feel like being in the middle of it. She was tired and so so relieved. She wanted to lay there and feel like it was all going to work out.

The murmur of Anders’ voice broke her reverie. Slowly, so they wouldn’t see her moving, Hawke lifted her hand and touched her fingertips to her lips. If she tried hard enough, she could remember the fleeting burn of his facial hair, hear the quietly surprised inhale, and the weight of his arms around her waist to hold her steady. She smiled, small and secret, heart thumping.

He had made it clear that only the thinnest and most innocent teasing was allowed. Even then, he would stop sometimes, pull away, shut down and shut her out.

Maybe a year ago, we could’ve had something…

She pressed her fingers harder against her lips. Her eyes squeezed shut.

At least she could keep this. A few innocent cheek kisses done in sheer relief. She hadn't even really thought about it before doing it, but in hindsight it had her spinning. Aching. There wasn’t anything too bad about it... right? The memory of his voice in her ear calling her 'sweetheart' and that kiss on her forehead were also hers to keep. Stolen moments in the depths of the Deep Roads and terror. She should feel more guilty for treasuring them, for repeating them over and over in her head, for rubbing her fingertips over her lips. But she didn’t.

a painting of Anders and a female Hawke. It's loose and sketchy, and very glowy, with pink bokeh. Of Hawke, we see only her torso, which Anders is holding onto. He has his face resting against her ribs/stomach, and is grabbing at the vest she is wearing. Hawke's arm partially covers Anders' face, as she rests one hand on his shoulder and the other on top of his head, but we can see his eyes are closed and his brow is furrowed, and he seems, in general, pretty angsty, but maybe also relieved to be in her arms.

played DA2 for the first time and romanced the possessed bisexual poor little meow meow who's totally down for firebombing a walmart

possessedopossum - Possessed Opossum

There is no way Hawke would leave Anders alone. If Hawke is stupid enough to show up at Skyhold while being Thedas most wanted apostate #2, he is also stupid enough to pull something like this.

The most fun part happened when inquisitor met warden Loghain and actual Carver.

I Made The Second Part! It Was A Very Hard Day For Varric. He Did Not Expect To See Thedas Most Wanted

I made the second part! It was a very hard day for Varric. He did not expect to see Thedas most wanted apostate who used to be his friend again, especially at Skyhold. And he did not expect to learn that his another friend had a kid with the said apostate. He had no idea Hawke was trans either.

Btw kid`s name is Leandra <3 she probably should look younger but I`m bad at drawing kids, sry

I Love "fugitives Together" Ending So Much. People Call Anders Romance Depressing For Very Wrong Reasons.

I love "fugitives together" ending so much. People call Anders romance depressing for very wrong reasons. Like oh, you think chantry explosion was sad? How about Hawke's whole friend group calling his best friend and lover mad for literally the same things Hawke stands for? How about mage Hawke's friends having no problems with templars, the same people, who would gladly imprison Hawke for life or even execute him for apostasy? I think people idealize Kirkwall gang way too much. Varric occasionally drinks with templars and has almost zero principles. Aveline helps templars to arrest apostates. And Fenris...I don't know how much patience a mage needs to listen to "all mages are bad magic itself is bad but you're different" for 6 years. The part where you can kill him in the Gallows for trying to murder you is kinda bruh too. And Isabela doesn't care what side you choose in the end. Isn't it depressing, to know that your friends don't care even one bit about people like you dying and being tortured literally every day? I don't like "fix it" headcanons where Anders warms up to certain companions because why would he? That's, like, the whole point of the game. Playing a mage IS isolating. It WILL make you look unlikable to others if you're vocal enough about the oppression. Because most people tend to ignore all the problems that do not concern them directly and they don't like when the said problems are being pushed into their faces. I can't speak for other players but for my mage Hawke, life in Kirkwall was awful. Like on the level where you think taking your own life is not that bad awful. Anders and Merrill were the only people who didn't make him feel even worse for being a mage. I don't think being fugitive is sad. What saddens me the most, is that only on the run with Anders Hawke realizes that he is finally happy. Because running from authorities is way better than running from your own nature. Its not sad when you and your lover are alone against the whole world. It`s only sad when the unjust world breaks your spirit and you accept it as it is without fighting.

Get Yourself A Man Who Will Stare At You Like This While You Talk About Mage Rights.

Get yourself a man who will stare at you like this while you talk about mage rights.

Why is it always Anders who`s madly in love with Hawke? My Hawke is madly in love with Anders and acts stupid because of it.

Words Cannot Express How Much It Means To Me That Both Anders And Hawke Survive The Events Of Da2 And

Words cannot express how much it means to me that both Anders and Hawke survive the events of da2 and dai. Anders is so depressed and hopeless in act 3, he feels like he's living on borrowed time and he has no choice but become a martyr in order to save the mages from genocide. He expects his own lover to kill him and when Hawke refuses to do so, Anders is genuinely surprised. Some people call him suicidal at this point but no, there's a huge difference. He doesn't want to die, he wants to live in a world where mages are free. And unfortunately, he also believes that this world can be created only if he dies. Later, in the Gallows, Anders sounds so...Inspired? Hawke had shown him that there is a choice, that he doesn't have to die. He doesn't have to sacrifice anything, including relationships with Hawke. And his fight for mages rights is not hopeless at all. I don't believe someone's story is good and worth telling only if the hero dies in the end. To me, the story is good only if Anders survives too see the world his actions created. He deserves to know divine Victoria disbanded the Circles of magi. He deserves to see mages not being afraid that the Chantry will tear their families apart. He deserves to see young mages who have never ever heard that their magic is a curse. In my hc, after they aid the mage rebellion, Hawke and Anders find a remote village in Ferelden to hide and just...Enjoy their life there. They have a kid together. Hawke works on a farm, like he used to before Kirkwall, and the locals appreciate having a spirit healer around a lot. No more templars, no more responsibility for an entire city. Hawke doesn't even go to Adamant. Because guess what? Anders does NOT deserve to see his another lover being taken from him because the Chantry said so. Honestly fuck Varric for that, my Hawke wouldn't even answer his letters after this. Corypheus is not his problem, it's grey warden and inquisition problem. Hawke is no longer the hero who saves the day. He's just a random ferelden man who loves his husband and daughter, okay?

So here's a picture of Anders and Isaac Hawke after they killed Meredith. The sun is rising, I like it way more than in game scene with dark lighting. Because it's not the end, but the beginning.

My Handers Kid Leandra "Lea" Hawke With Her Parents. Idk Why But Anders Has Girl Dad Energy. These Two

My handers kid Leandra "Lea" Hawke with her parents. Idk why but Anders has girl dad energy. These two are the only ones who have a kid in my headcanon. I mean, thats what the mage rights fight is about? About living a normal boring life without the government tearing your family apart and making you a slave just bc youre a mage. Enjoying simple things others take for granted. Being a person and not a living weapon. Lea`s parents did not want her to feel like she HAS to learn magic and use it every day for others sake. For her, magic is a source of joy. She can use it to warm up a bowl of soup. Cheer a friend up with a silly spell. Heal a wild bird`s broken wing. But forcing a little girl to throw fireballs preparing her to kill people? Isaac would never do to her what his father Malcolm did to him.

I Always Wondered Why A Lot Of People Depict Anders So Young And Idk, Too Pretty? He Is Something Like

I always wondered why a lot of people depict Anders so young and idk, too pretty? He is something like ~36 years old in the end of da2. Give the dude some wrincles and grey hair, damn it. I really dont like the mods that change da2 Anders into awakening Anders. His appearance is a part of the story too. It has meaning! Da2 Anders is no longer concerned with his looks, there are more important tasks at hand. He thinks there is no time for vanity while the mages suffer. He also lives in a sewer. Probably didn't even wash his hair that often as there is no running water in the said sewer. Justice probably doesn't understand the concept of sleeping. And even if he does, it's not fun to be a grey warden. Also no person is going to look perfect when they overwork themselves providing free medical care for refugees, writing manifestos and saving mages from the Gallows. I think he is supposed to look at least kinda bad? With messy hair, dark circles under his eyes and several days stubble he didn`t have time nor energy to take care of. I am sure his socks have at least one hole.

Anders' Story And The Mages Plight Theme In General Will Always Be Very Personal For Me, Bc How Well

Anders' story and the mages plight theme in general will always be very personal for me, bc how well it works as a transgender allegory. If you're born different, no matter what you do, you're fucked. Society will make sure to make your life as hard as possible. Neither circle mages nor apostates are happy. Neither closeted trans people nor openly trans people are happy. You have to choose between "safety" and "freedom" but in the end you receive none. Damn, even the word "abomination" is being used against both groups. There are people among both communities who think compliance to conservative society demands is a better choice than fighting it. And people who understand that compliance will lead to only one outcome - extermination. The government taking your children away may be fictional for mages, but it is very real for trans people. Both transgenders and mages are considered a disgrace to their families, a curse, a dirty secret. Both get disowned. Or sometimes something much worse happens. Parents try to "cure" their children from both magic and transness. And for all the reasons listed above and more than that, da2 will always be my favorite game. Because in the end of the game, there is hope. Mages are united more than ever, and at least for a time, they are free. The perspective of a better future for both mages existing and those who aren't even born yet is finally real. Almost no one believed Anders will succeed. And Anders himself didn't believe he would live long enough to see the results of his actions. And yet, he is alive in the end. And what is even more important, not alone.

Yes I am writing all of that under a NSFW picture and what of it??? Last month has been rough. My country is worse than fucking dystopian Kirkwall.
