Headcanons & Musing: Christmas Special
Hank always used to dress up as Santa Claus on christmas and the moment Maggie saw him for the first time, her eyes lit up in awe and joy and happy little giggles could be heard from her. She totally believed he was the real Santa and even compared his blue fur to that of her father. When she got a little older she always questioned why on every picture or comercial Santa isn't blue.
Her parents managed to make her believe that this is part of his costume because not all kids were brave enough to meet Santa in his real form. This made Maggie very proud because, unlike the other kids, she was not afraid of Santa's true appearance.
On her second christmas she once asked if he could bring one of his elves with him. The next year he came along with an Elf. It was Kurt who was dressed as one of Santa's elves and once again Maggie totally believed it was real.

Thinking about Hank and how he was laying outside with his baby daughter wrapped thight in his arms and her cuddled up into his fur, while he was explaining to her the stars, the moon and the world around her until she fell asleep against his chest, knowing fully well that she had understood not a single word of what he had told her.
But she was happy and so was he.

Hank always used to read poems, poetry and Shakespeare to Maggie. Not because he wanted to impose his interests on her but because she always wanted him to read them to her. At first he had tried to explain to her that it was still too advanced for her and she wouldn't understand but Maggie insited so Hank gave in to her wish.
At first he just read out of his book until he once found a version for kids with a collection of Shakespeare's plays, written for children to understand. He bought it and it became one of Maggie's favorite books.
Every night when Hank tucked her in he read one story and one poem to her as bedtime story and in some nights he even read her two.
Over time Maggie scribbled little drawings into the book that showed what happened on each page.

Maggie always loved theaters and musicals so her parents often took her there to watch a play together. One day she got the idea to make her own play but because she didn't knew how to write she draw it and then asked her father to write the dialogues for her.
Hank found it especially cute and funny because this little child tried to copy the language of Shakespeare, which she did suprisingly well for someone her age but it still sounded like something a little child came up with.
When they were done Maggie made her parents play it with her. It was kind of a mix of Romeo and Juliette with Rapunzel, with a few little changes made by Maggie.
In her story it was the prince Romeo who had the long hair and was captured in a tower by an evil dragon and princess Juliette had to save him. Hank played the role of Romeo and Maggie's mother the role of Juliette while Maggie herself played the evil dragon.
Everything went very well until the point the evil dragon was supposed to kill Romeo. When Maggie had to pretend to kill Hank, she started to cry her eyes out because she didn't wanted her father to die. So instead of acting as if the dragon had killed Romeo, little Maggie ran over to her father and clung to his leg crying.
Hank couldn't help but laugh a little at this reaction as it was her story that she had come up with and he hadn't thought she would react that way. Maggie only calmed down again after Hank pulled her into his arms and assured her that this wasn't real and he wouldn't really die.
After Maggie had calmed down again she and Hank changed the story a little. Romeo was still captured by an evil dragon but this time it was princess Juliette and her friend the lucky dragon who together saved Romeo. In this version Maggie played the lucky dragon while a plushy was the evil dragon.

Hank is this kind of guy who spends his days with poetry, philosophy and working in his lab or teaching. He is a diplomat who prefers to go to the theater than fighting on the battlefield.
But Hank is also that kind of guy who could easily rip you apart, while quoting an entire Shakespeare play if he wanted to.

When Maggie's mother was pregnant with her daughter everything seemed to go perfectly fine, most of all because Hank was making sure that no risk was taken during the pregnancy. He was very much protective over her and their unborn child. But even he couldn't prevent everything that fate threw at their feet.
So it happened that Maggie came to the world earlier than they had excepted. It was so unexpected and suddenly that they had no time to go to the hospital. Luckily Hank knew what to do and was able to bring his daughter to the world himself.
When Maggie was finally born she was so tiny, Hank could hold her on just one hand.

Maggie's first word was "Dada". She said it on Hank's birthday and they even got that moment on video.

Simon is Maggie's godfather!
When Hank found out that little Maggie was on her way, he right away said he wanted his best friend to be her godfather. He agreed and when she was born he was one of the first people to hold baby Maggie, and the first person outside of her family who held her.
He tried to play it cool but behind his sunglasses he was a little teary because he was so happy for Hank and that he got chosen to be this little bundle of joy's godfather.

I want everyone of you to drop everythig for a moment and think about Hank with his baby girl in his arms, holding her for the very first time. Seeing her little face and feeling her tiny hands and fingers wrapping around his finger that is so much bigger than hers.
Imagine this man holding a little infant that's so tiny that it fits easily in one hand of his. He could simply just lay her on his palm no problem.
Imagine him holding her close to his chest as he looks down at the little wonder he created. Feeling this kind of love he never felt before or thought he would ever feel.
And he's just happy and at peace in that moment!

Hank used to call Maggie his little Star or his little Blueberry when she was young. Later when she started to talk she couldn't say the word blueberry right and said bluebaby instead.
It was also funny because she loved to eat blueberries and every time she wanted some she said "bluebabies please." while putting her hands together as if she was begging.

Thinking about giving Maggie a pet companion that is able to talk kinda like Rocket or Howard the duck... Maybe a rat? Or a cat? Or I give her Wolf the ability to talk... Yes that girl has a wolf friend!

I just looked up the name McCoy cause I wanted to know the origin of this name and wikipedia said something about scottish and irish...
And only because of that my head made up the headcanon that Hank has scottish/irish origins and he has an eccentric great uncle who still lives there...
This uncle can't barely stand anyone around him except Hank. Hank's his favorite from the whole family and he has no problem with letting everyone know.
When this uncle heard about Hank's mutation and that he turned all blue and furry this uncle immediately bought several blue clothes and accessories to show his support. From there one he always wore something blue.
He never mentioned anything and just silently accepted and supported his nephew.
The uncle is also a very proud, stubborn and headstrong man and always refuses to let others help. So everytime he and Hank meet and Hank wants to help with something the uncle just shoos him away and complains that he's not a senile old man and can take care of it himself. "Boy sit down for havens sake!" he then orders.
Yes he was an army man and had a very high rank there.
Beside Hank the only other living being he openly likes is his dog.

Often Maggie would cling on Hank or climb up on him like a baby monkey. She also loved to dangle from his arm like she would from a branch of a tree.

After finding out that Maggie joined the X-Men Hank wasn't very happy. To be exact he was angry. This was never something he wanted for his own child. And when he found out it had been Scott Summers and Charles Xavier who had recruited her for the team he was even more mad.
Especially because no one had told him before. He found out during a mission after Maggie arrived at the battlefield. He had to do his best not to lose his calm at this moment. But he was furious and everyone knew it and no one said anything.
What made this even worse is the fact, that Maggie herself doesn't want to fight anymore. That's what she told her father many times how tired she is of running and fighting, how much she hates it. She told him all she want to do is to sit at home in peace. To watch movies, listen to music, play games. To just be a kid, something she couldn't be for such a long time.
But she can't say no, she can't look away and pretend she doesn't know. If someone calls her for help and to fight she will drop everything and get there as fast as she can.
No matter how hard she tries to leave the fight, the fight never leaves her. And she knows that. They know it too and still they chose her, drafted her for their fight. And what makes it even worse for Hank he knows it too.

Maggie's mother was pregnant before her but lost the child. After that she had trouble to get pregnant again. When she went to the doctor she was told that due to her time with her ex and the torture she had endured there, her fertility and chance of getting pregnant was virtually non-existent. She was also told that even if she would get pregnant it would be highly risky especially for the child.
After the devastating news Maggie's parents stopped trying for a child until many yeary later her mother did got pregnant again and decided to keep the baby despite the risks. In the end their baby girl was born premature but initially seemed healthy. But then the problems started shortly after the birth and Maggie's parents had to fight a lot for their daughter's survival.
Before Maggie turned one year old, she would often get very sick. Just before her first birthday, Maggie's health deteriorated to such an extent that it seemed like she might not make it this time. Her parents were already preparing for the worst when they learned that their daughter might not survive the night. However, the next morning brought a miraculous surprise, Maggie had defied the odds, her fever had gone down, and her condition had improved significantly.

Maggie has a black cat, which she later found out is actually a Flerken. She named the Flerken Void.
An exhausted Hank comes home, his nerves at his wits' end.
Baby Maggie: *points at him with the brightest and happiest baby smile that ever existed and makes little squealing sounds* Dada! :) *makes little grabby hands while still squealing happily to tell him to pick her up cause she wants to cuddle*

>> It's so funny to me, since I started to talk about Hank with Muffins and read the comics I realized how much more similar Maggie is to Hank. Much more than I had previously thought. At first I thought yeah they have same interessts and such but no. I literally made Maggie Hank's female mini me without knowing it!
Like I always saw Hank as the calm Professor/Doctor. Someone who is strict and serious but also loving, friendly, helpful and fun and comfortable to have around. In a way the calm save space for people to go to when they need some time to calm down, the anchor in a storm etc. And yeah he is exactly that.
But I had no idea that he also has this other side. The side that makes him go wild, where he jumps around as if he was a bouncing ball. The guy who climbs up buildings and swings around the area.
And this is kinda how I always imagined little Maggie as a wild child, always trying to climb up everything. That child that runs wild and goes crazy, who wants to know just everything and jumps around with so much energy that everyone thinks how can such a tiny person have so much energy in her body? Yes when she gets older she also gets more calm and introvert and such but mostly because of her abduction and the fact that for several years she had no contact to the outside world. This is what changed her. But if this chapter had never happened, if she had always been with her family. Then she still would be this wild nerdy child, climbing and jumping around.
And tbh: I love it! I love that Maggie is so much more like her dad than I thought, cause it makes sense. He's her hero, her greatest rolemodel, the one she looks up to the most. She wants to be exactly like him. She's that kind of child were people go: "Yeah... she clearly is her father's daughter. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. No need for a paternity test here, that's Hank's kid no doubt." <<
