Hes Already Lost That Love So Many Times And It Still Affects Him - Tumblr Posts
this is why ToA isn’t about learning to be human, it’s about accepting the humanity inside of him. it’s about letting himself accept that he loves and cares so deeply and it’s okay for him to do that, and that loving and losing is better than never loving at all.
im so emotional over this guy it’s not even funny 😭😭😭
Something that always gets to me while rereading the apollo chapter in Percy Jackson's greek gods is this:
"He sauntered around Olympus in his gleaming robes with his bow and arrow, winking at the ladies and high-fiving the dudes, or sometimes winking at the dudes and high-fiving the ladies. Apollo didn’t care. He figured everybody loved him."
Obsessed with it not only because it's so iconic, but also just cause the last part is so wrong about Apollo.
From being granted into Apollo's inner thoughts, we as the audience know that the self important, self obsessed facade he puts on is just a facade. But it makes sense for someone like Percy -forced to do stupid quests, nearly blinded upon meeting by bright sportscar and even brighter teeth-to fall for that facade and interpret that Apollo's bisexuality stems from the fact that he thinks everybody loves him and thus, it would be a crime to keep somebody off all his golden gorgeousness just cause they're the same gender.
But the truth is that Apollo is the one who can't stay away. Every person is gorgeous. Every person is spirirted. He's always the one falling hard for the next person on page and not just romantically. The man was so devastated at the thought that the sweet kid who prayed to him a couple of times died, he obliterated someone with the power of his own voice. He weeps openly when embracing his kids. He was ride or die with Meg after such a short time of knowing her and forgave her instantly despite being betrayed because she wormed her way into his heart that fast.
He loves so hard and so easily. His nature is to love and damn does he have a weak spot for humanity. I'm not really sure bisexuality works this way but I like to think that his sexuality blends a little with his love for humanity. He has so much love to give and that love isn't limited to a person based on their gender.
So anyway to sum up what I'm getting at, Percy idc that you are fictional and personally bothered by Apollo, it's not his self obsession that fuels him to get people to love him, it's his sheer unadulterated love for humanity that does.
