Ugh yes he believes himself to be empty when really he doesn’t lack in anything, he’s such an angel and can’t even see it. Here’s an additional description, this time by Cordelia:

Matthew is graceful, he moves as if he could be dancing, he holds weapons as if they are batons, his voice is musical and pleasant to hear, so much people gather to hear him talk, to hear him tell stories. He loves art so much and despairs he can’t produce any, but doesn’t realise he’s like art himself.))
