Gasping a few times, Lily swallowed. "I'll ask Marigold. Don't… Don't come out before I see what Lady Gwenivar is doing?" She lifted her head to look up at him. Her face was still flushed, cheeks wet.

Despite that, Reed still thought she looked cute. He didn't like that she was crying for him, of all people.

This situation could kill me… I could die tomorrow. Do I really want to die without having kissed her at least once?

But part of him still didn't quite believe that this might be the end.

At least it wasn't like his first death: helplessly stuck in a pothole and hit by a truck going eighty. Still… it was a pretty pathetic death. Hanged by his superior officer because Small Dick Energy.

Reed kissed her.

Lily went stiff in his arms, but her fingers clutched the back of his coat, preventing him from withdrawing from her embrace. He broke the kiss to see what her expression was.

She stared up at him, lips parted. The flush had turned from tears to embarrassment. Lifting slightly onto her toes, she kissed him back.

Lily didn't know what she was doing but was a quick study. He slid his hand into her hair, savoring the sweet taste of her mouth, and taught her more when she let him slide his tongue in. She arched against him, gripping his back.

Fully flushed when they parted lips again, Lily took several breaths in preparation to say something, but whatever words she wanted to speak kept getting caught. "This isn't goodbye," she choked out. "No." Reed shook his head. "But I'm probably not going to be your captain for much longer, so I figured it was alright to do that now."

Her brows rose. "Is that it? You… because you were my captain? You break all the other rules all the time!"

"Yeah, but I didn't want to force you into something you couldn't say no to… and what if we get into an argument? It was awkward enough with Timmons and Avery at each other's throats," Reed explained. He cleared his throat, "Besides, I'm really not good at the whole commitment thing and…"

"And?" Lily demanded, raising her voice slightly. "Are you saying you're not going to take responsibility for this?"

"It's just a kiss—"

She pinched his back. "Not to me!"

its been ten days since i was last on tumblr, its been a busy few days but i logged back in and saw this tag game and i just couldn't resist!

(also thank you to everyone that's tagged me over the last few days- im so sorry i wasn't around but i'll be doing my best to catch up!)

and to ease myself back into writeblr i thought i'd share a little snippet from a new story i'm working on! (as yet unnamed, but i'm very excited)

the snippet:

"Step back Freckles or I might get the wrong idea." "Wrong idea? I'm holding a knife to your throat." Nick lowered himself, resting his chin on the tip of her blade, smirking. "Precisely." "What on earth are you doing?" She gripped the knife with both hands, forcing herself to hold it steady. For some inexplicable reason her fingers wanted to tremble. "Testing your limits, as per usual." "What?" Her throat grew tight. Why would he admit to it after all this time? "Actually... No. I'm seeing how you'll react." "To what?" "To..." Nick wrapped his hands around hers and forced the blade down, out of his way. "This." He slammed his lips into hers.
