So after watching the Death Note anime more times than is probably healthy, I got my hands on the manga and I love it, but there is one thing I noticed that scares me a little.
Does every single person on this damn task force WANT to die!? They are all either way too calm or then there’s Soichiro and Matsuda openly talking about planning to die. It’s more touched upon in the manga, but Matsuda was literally grinning while trying to insist that he should take the eyes and die after using the notebook.
There aren’t as many instances with Ide, Aizawa, and Mogi, but enough that makes me wonder if they’re here for justice or just seeking death.
Honestly these two never fail to amaze me, and the story actually does a pretty good job showing how close they are. Like I know Volume 13 says they “enjoy a close partnership” but I’m just wondering how it’s not talked about that often.
Ide saying that he joined the Kira investigation for Aizawa... I've really been sleeping on these two haven't I
In manga years, Aizawa is now the same age Soichiro was when he died. Ide’s gonna follow in September.

How did the task force get Ide caught up on everything that happened during arc 1? How did that play out? Poor man walked into this task force off the heels of a dead L, he was missing a ton of information that needed filling in.
The answer I've always assumed is he asked Aizawa what happened after Aizawa came back to the NPA and he got a week-long vent/explanation to fill him in on everything that had happened, and then Matsuda filled in the Yotsuba arc to explain the whole "sorry you thought I was dead" thing.
But in the event Aizawa was quiet about everything, how was he filled in on what he missed? Did they sit him down to explain? Was he just left to piece together passing comments?

aizawa and ide as a perfect superhero & sidekick type duo, met at work but they genuinely care about each other. And they stop each other getting distracted and they're the only ones who remember to check up on each other and can see when they're distressed or sad, because they're so grumpy and hard to read but in different ways
